Adventures in Stamping - The Sky's the Limit...

Hi again!

I hadn't intended to take part in yesterday's Adventures in Stamping challenge, I tried a sun-themed mani earlier in the week and failed, and since I knew I wouldn't be able to post it in time anyway I decided to give it a miss. Then inspiration struck and even though I hadn't intended it, I ended up stamping something that kinda fit the theme. Feathers – birds fly in the sky, so it works right? I don't care, I'm having it anyway! :P I used Fab Ur Nails Silver stamping polish and Barry M Gold Foil to stamp the feather from BM15 over China Glaze Flying Dragon (Neon-that-isn't).

A really simple mani that looks really pretty. I love feathers, I think they're so pretty, and very symbolic. I'd love a feather tattoo one day...if only I wasn't such a wimp...

Untried Month - China Glaze Designer Satin

Hi everyone!

Today I have from my untried stash Designer Satin by China Glaze, a gorgeous bright raspberry pink crème. I used two perfect coats and it applied like, well, satin. Yum. I couldn't leave it alone though and stamped this intricate twirly pattern from BM 201 and Fab Ur nails silver stamping polish. But, it was another one of those days where the stamping was more effort than it was worth and I didn't do a great job. The first nail stamped perfectly. The others didn't. What is up with that? I filed the stamper, cleaned the image, stamper and scraper between each stamp making sure all the acetone was dried from the plate, scraped lightly, scraped hard, scraped somewhere in between, but the image didn't want to pick up no matter what I tried. Meh.

Anyway, the concept was there, the execution just wasn't all that. Designer Satin is up there in my favourite polishes EVAH though. In fact, I haven't found a China Glaze that I didn't like yet.

Any China Glaze polishes you'd recommend? I'm currently wearing Riveting from their Hunger Games collection and I adore it – so keep an eye out for that next week!

NOTD - Got the Blues...

Morning bloggy peeps!

This week's Adventures in Stamping challenge was to use only blue for your mani. I like blue but I don't wear it often because it stains my fingers up so much I look like I've been doing rude things to a smurf, and this was no exception! You can be as neat as a neat thing when you're applying the base coat, but unless you're magic trying to get a full nail image to stamp without getting any on your fingers aint gonna happen. I managed to get most of the blue off I think... The base colour is Color Club Blue-topia from their Back to Boho collection (I got set 2 and wish I got set one too now) and I stamped with Fab Ur Nails metallic blue stamping polish and image plates II (keyboards) and IV (bluesy music stuff). Sorry the pics are a bit soft-focusy, I had my camera in the snow setting!

Even Mr NN liked this one :) He's usually my biggest critic...I usually ignore him...

NOTD - Hoppy Burpday to meeeeeeeee!

Hi loves

It was my 30th Birthday on Wednesday - something I was not looking forward to! Not just another year older, but another decade...ouch. Anyway, while I wasn't celebrating I couldn't resist having a little party on my nails. I used lots of coats (3 or 4) of China Glaze Love Marilyn on all fingers but my middle, which I used my pink Whimsical franken (which I have named Hoppy Burpday), stamped a cupcake using Fab Ur Nails metallic pink stamping polish and added a rhinestone for a cherry. I had trouble getting the image to stamp :( I've had trouble with another image on this plate though, and since I haven't had a major stamping fail in a while I'm blaming the plate.

I should have layered Love Marilyn over an opaque polish - a silver foil perhaps. I'll remember that for next time! It was a pita to remove, even with foil. I had me a bad case of teh Glitta Herpes...

31 Day Challenge - Day 13, Animal print

Day 13 of the challenge is Animal Print, but I've done leopard and zebra before, both freehand and with stamping. So I chose an awesome pattern from a Bundle Monster plate - snakeskin! I used MUA Shade 23 for the base - an army green. I usually really like MUA polish - for just £1 you can't beat it but I had issues with this one. The formula was great but the brush I had was scratchy and uneven. This meant that when I applied the second coat, no matter how dry the first coat was it scratched a big groove down the whole nail. Annoying! A coat of Seche sorted it thankfully, and then I was onto the stamping.

I used Miss Sporty New Black, a pretty shimmery grey (which I need a back-up of...) and a silver metallic stamping polish which I won from Sarah Louise at Spellbinding Nails' giveaway (are you sick of hearing about it yet?). What a difference a specific stamping polish makes! Honestly, this was the best polish I have ever used for stamping, and it's making me want to invest in some Konad special polishes, or at least black and white. This one is from Fab Ur Nails shop, I also got a metallic purple and blue and they have a huge range of colours at really great prices. They also have holo and magnetic polish, and stamping plates too so check them out. I used the Miss Sporty first, and then the silver on top. You can't see the grey behind the silver very much, but it did give it more texture and depth.

If I do this again I might use the grey on top of the silver instead. Or I might use gold. I just need to find me a good gold stamping polish...this could get expensive...

Flowers tomorrow - this didn't survive cleaning the bathroom this morning...
