Slip knot~that is one thing that I did know how to do without Nancy having to teach me, which made her day because she said that was the one thing that usually takes a beginner awhile to get, so bonus for me (and her)! Casting On~This looked really intimidating to me when I watched her demonstrate how she does it, but I caught on pretty quickly, I just happen to cast on a little tighter than she liked, maybe that is why I broke my crochet hook the other night?? Time to make the first stitch~Nancy taught me a Garter Stitch so that I could make a simple scarf. I watched one of the ladies that were there for the knitting group, her name was Daphne, she was a very charming and quite lovely British woman with an accent that I could have listened to all day! My goodness she was fast, I was just amazed how fast someone could knit when it took me 15 minutes just to cast on correctly. Well give me time and maybe I can be as talented as these wonderful ladies that took time out of their busy lives to teach someone like me who doesn't know a Garter from a Pearl Stitch, by the way I still don't know the difference...yet! Nancy had a few rules for knitting that I must follow:
1. Knit a little everyday!
2. NEVER stop in the middle of a row, always finish the row you started (unless the house is on fire)!
3. And if you are a beginner, like me, don't chat while knitting!
Well, last night I broke rule #3 and I dropped a stitch or two and now I am stuck, I am going to go back to the shop today to see if Nancy can help me get out of this one!
I am so happy that I found something that I know that I am going to love doing! And something that I can be good enough at that people will actually want to wear what I make them, either that or my poor family will have more scarves than they would know what to do with! Hey, at least they will be warm!
Here are some pictures of my Knitting Adventure!

My work in progress...
These pictures don't have anything to do with knitting or my lesson yesterday, but I just had to share them! While I was at my lesson yesterday, Gabe stayed home with Izzy and discovered that this is her new favorite thing to play with!
Hey, who needs Christmas presents when you have an empty Cheetos bag??
I hope that all of you get to experience something new and exciting this week just as I have! I will keep you updated with photos as I go!
