{MFT} Purr-fect Birthday

Hey there! Just wanted to share with you a card I made this past weekend for my brothers girlfriend Katie, who is a bit of a cat-a-holic.  I used a retired image from My Favorite Things and tried to colour it up to look like one of her cats. I think this Authentique 'Devoted' paper is hilarious and just purrfect ;) I like that this pad has dog pages as well, cuz really who needs an entire pad devoted to just cats?? I did a ton of distressing: inking, sewing, tattered edges....and tucked a paper doily in behind. Th button I found in my stash and tied it with rustic jute twine.

The cat was coloured with Copics and shaded with some pastel pencils. I added some glaze pen to the eyes and nose of the cat costume.

I am usually too lazy to do the inside of cards, but there was a cool scrap of DP with the cat and giant yarn ball that I thought would be great for the inside, so I went ahead and completed it. I added one of the sentiments in the set as well.

{MFT} Clowning Around

Hey there! For the first time in a LONG time, I made a card just for fun!! No deadline, no DT requirement, no new release....just made something with some products that I liked so I bought :) This actually felt really good! I had this image pre-coloured up, and stuck it in the paper pad that I had in mind when I coloured it. I was going through my IG photos and saw that I had posted the clown, way back about 3 months ago! I totally forgot that I had coloured it! So I got down to it and made a card! Now I had in mind the sketch from MFT (since I was using their products) but I didn't get the card finished in time (correction: I didn't get it photo'd and blogged in time)....So yeah, the sketch was from last week #249 (ended Tuesday), so I can't enter it, but thats okay :)

Here's the products I used: PI Clowning Around Stamp and coordinating die,  Take the Stage  die-namics,  Blueprints 3, and CS in Wild Cherry, Blu Raspberry, Black licorice, and X-press Blending CS.
Here's the post with the original sketch in it on the MFT challenge blog...
thanks for stopping in :)

Happy Birthday Dude!!

EEK!! I am super excited to show you this card!! It's my first Pop Up Box Card and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it came out! I made it for my nephew's 6th Birthday. He is obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…which is kind of cool, because I remember my brother to be their #1 fan when he was a little boy! The TMNT love has come full circle ;)

This card honestly took me forever to make LOL! Mostly because it was a ton of die cutting! Very little punches were used and just the one stamp on the back of the box, which you'll see later on in the post. I'll also list all of the dies that I used at the end.

I knew I wanted to make Lucas a TMNT card, as we got him some turtle gear and toys and his party was also TMNT themed! So I searched on Splitcoast Stampers and found THIS card, which was my inspiration. So thanks, Rochelle, at Creative Corner Studio! I wish I could say that I came up with this idea on my own, but I'm just not that good ;)
I also followed the SCS tutorial on how to make a Pop Up Box Card. You can find that tutorial HERE. I used the A2 Horizontal size.
The 'Pizza' was so fun to make!! I really dug into my stash of die-namics to find the right shapes for my toppings (plain pepperoni, cheese and sauce is what the kids go for!)…thankfully I have a good haul of dies from my days as a designer for My Favorite Things. Every die cut shape you see on the card is from MFT, with the exception of the turtles eyes and their smiley mouths! That is it! Those things were made using small circle punches for the eyes and a large oval punch, all Stampin' Up!

Seriously, how CUTE is this pie???? Yum!

I wanted a little birthday greeting stamp or something to add and this pizza stamp from Pizza My Heart by SugarPea Designs was PERFECT! I wrote in a message on the top and bottom of the circle. You can see here the back of the box once its standing up. I used a reptile embossing folder to add some interest to the CS (and YES, I know turtles are amphibians hehe). Every side panel and the underside of the flaps are a different turtle colour. I backed each of the turtle heads with more CS so you can't see the mask tails glued to the back.

Each of the turtles is a different colour of green! Just like the real turtles!

Here is the card laying flat. If you wanted it to fit in an A2 envie, just don't make things hang off the edges so much LOL! The manhole cover is way off the top, as well as the blue mask.
I just used a larger envelope.

And here's the flaps folded up.

{SSSC} Witch Way is the Candy?

Hi Friends! Happy World Card Making Day! I made two cards today- one you'll have to wait til this coming week to see, and then this one, for our Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

I used this fun Halloween set from Torico (designed for MFT), Witch Way is the Candy? and the matching dies. I don't usually buy matching dies, but I splurged this time ;) I also used an older spiderweb die and just cut it down to the right size. I don't see it on the website anymore.  The little flag is from Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX. I added a tangy orange button tied with hemp cord.

Here is your sketch!

{SSSC/MFT} Batty for You

It's been a bit since I made a card with all My Favorite Things supplies and I just had a new order come AND since I am a lover of all things Halloween, I thought I'd pop off a spooky lil card :)

I used Batty About You (which happens to be on SALE right now- all Halloween MFT stuff is a great price right now! DOH! I shoulda waited hehe!) along with the Stitched Circle STAX and a stitched banner from the Blueprints 1 set. The button is Steel Grey and it's tied with Hemp Cord. The little flag under the button is from Jumbo Fishtail Flags STAX. I coloured the adorable little character with copics, fussy cut her out and mounted on foam squares onto the DP circle.

It's also time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!
Here is your sketch for this week:

{SSSC} Happy Camper

It's been awhile since I've made an exclusive My Favorite Things card, and I had the hankering to use these camping theme stamps and dies since we are camping lovers and tis' the season!

I've used Die-namics Happy Camper for the lil' Airstream camper and the sentiment is from the Roughing It stamp set. I've also tucked in the Chicken Wire cutting plate (backed with vellum so you can still make out the wicked awesome vintage camper DP (Jillibean Soup).

Here's the inside…I used double set of footprints along with another sentiment from Roughing It. I must be in romantic mood lately. LOL! Tomorrows post will also feature a lovey dovey card! hehe!

I followed this week's SSSC and just rotated the sketch and used the camper as the half circle shape! I'm also entering this card into the current Catered Crop Challenge, which is to use vellum!

Check out what the other Sweet Stampers have got for you!

{MFT} Mickey Mouse Birthday

EEK! I'm so excited about this card! It's one of those ones that just came together far better than I even imagined!

I've used the super cool LLD Magical Memories stamp set and coordinating LLD Magical Memories  die by MFT. I thought this set would be so perfect for our recent trip to Disneyland and I think it's going to be great for cards too! I bought this Simple Stories Disney looking paper ages ago and just cracked it open. I added in some gold and black sequins from I {heart} Papers. I used Circle Stax for the mouse head and ears. The twine is also by MFT. I was so excited to find these black button shaped brads in my stash!

The sentiment was heat embossed in black onto a fishtail flag die

Here is the inside. Pic is a little blurry, but I heat embossed a sentiment in here as well, and added some more star dies and sequins.

Here's a better photo:

And finally, this whole card was sparked by this weeks SSSC layout.

Check out what the other girls have been up to this week:

{SSSC} Baby Elle

All of my stamping/die supplies are from My Favorite Things. I made a sweet card for my cousin's new baby 'Elle'.

The interior sentiment is from Baby Onsie set and the front die is the matching Baby Onsie Dienamic. The little lace collar around the neck of the onsie is one of the mini doily dies! I've also used the Happy Hello's die. The personalized stamped tag is from the Notched Tag. The twine is MFT as well. I used my favourite DP Simple Stories Vintage Bliss…

The sketch that I used today is this weeks SSSC#118…Check out what my Sweet Sunday Sisters have been up to!

{MFT} Ahoy!

Yesterday was World Cardmaking Day and I wanted to sit down and whip up a quick card, because, well, it was a good excuse! If you can't justify setting aside some crafty time on WCD, then when can you? lol

I recently got an order from My Favorite Things, and I was kind of itching to use this little PI Pirate Boy (I love anything for lil boys!), and PI's are so darned quick and easy to colour up. It seemed like a good match ;)

For an even quicker card, paper-piecing can be a great option! I always add a wee bit of shading (usually with W1 and 3 markers) so it has some dimension still. A real pirate would probably be forced to walk the plank with this outfit, but I think a little boy pirate can get away with it just fine! I showed my lil scallywag this card and he said 'nice, but he's holding the sword the wrong way'....geesh, there is just no pleasing some people! haha! I used Western Backgrounds to stamp on the Chalkboard Frame Border diecuts in Kraft ink. I hand tore the border and added a Steel Blue button tied with Hemp cord. I added a few brads, as it wasn't feeling quite done.

I used this weeks WSC #144 for this layout.

{MFT} Carter's 1st Birthday!

Today is my littlest nephew, Carter Coleman's birthday! He turned the big number ONE!! He is such a stinkin' cutie! Loved his cake- passed out cold in a food coma in his highchair! lol

I wanted to play along with this week's MFT sketch challenge, but I ended up straying from it quite a bit, lol! First of all, I turned the sketch on it's side, and then ended up changing the elements around to work for me. I used Airplane Greetings stamp set and matching die-namics. Other dies that I used: By the Numbers, jumbo cloud STAX,  and scattered stars. On this inside, I used By the Letters to spell out his name. I also used black licorice ink and hemp cord. The button is by PTI and CS is SU.

Here is the sketch, so that you can see just how much I veered from it ;) haha

{MFT} Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my sweet mama's Birthday! I think maybe she is turning 55 but I can't be sure. Just remembering that it was today was a challenge enough for me! Last night I got to thinking it was coming up and looked at the calendar and almost freaked when I saw it was today! Thankfully I'm a pre-buyer and have had her present for months!! She has wanted one of those chef's gel mats for in front of her kitchen sink! I know- she's crazy and wild!! :) I also got her some new golf socks....socks and a floor mat. Yes folks, it's heart-stopping action over here!

I made this card for her using MFT's a la mode You're my Cup of Tea.

I added a little teacup and teabag charm hanging off of the flower/button/hemp embellie. The dies (as well as the inside teapot) are from the die set Always Time for Tea. I used MFT's Hemp twine and a Spearmint button. This whole card is distressed using Kraft ink. I also used Kraft, Spearmint, sweet tooth and X-press it Blending CS. The flower die is the Layered Rose. The sentiment flag strip is from Blueprints 2.

Here's the inside. I used another sentiment from the set alm Hot Cocoa Cutie.

Here's Gramma and her boys! I made her an iced cappuccino and added a candle to the whip :) No Birthday cake, but the Birthday Cap was delish!

I think she likes the card.... HaPpY bIrThDaY MoM!

I used last week's MFT sketch:
