Goodman Games Otyugh

This model has a bit of history to it - I had to go look at some old gaming pictures and figured that this was painted back in July of 2005.

Otyugh is one of my favorite monsters for low level characters and I'm constantly pulling this miniature off the shelf for my Dungeons and Dragons games. I noticed a few little dings and chips so this last time instead of putting it back on the shelf I placed it on the painting desk for a little bit of touch-up. Now, a big reason why I post these blogs is so I can always go back and find what colors I used for a particular miniature in case I want to replicate that paint job on another mini or if I need to fix a mini which has a few chips. I realized that I never posted this miniature to the blog. So tonight I threw some paint on a few dings/chips, took some pictures, and I'm now posting.

Here's some history to this miniature sculpt - it was originally sold by Goodman Games under their Dungeon Crawl Classics branding. Somehow it went to a company called Center Stage Miniatures in about 2010. Next it was acquired by Pacesetter Games. Finally it was bought by the gentleman that put together and hosts one of my favorite websites called DnDLead.com which catalogs old Dungeon and Dragon miniatures from Minifigs, Grenadier, TSR, Citadel, Ral Partha, etc.

So the long story short is that you can still purchase this awesome figure on rpgelements.com including all the other miniatures in the original DCC line.

All about the owner Ernst Wilhelm.

Purchase this awesome miniature on RPG Elements and support keeping alive this and other older miniatures.

In addition to all that, this miniature was sculpted by Jason Wiebe, one of my favorite sculptors who sculpts quite a bit for Reaper Miniatures. All of my painted miniatures sculpted by Jason Wiebe.

Goodman Games Pointy-Hatted Wizard - GMG6010

Sometimes it's just difficult.

That was the theme of this miniature - which is really a shame - this was a nice Jason Wiebe sculpted (I do like his stuff) classic wizard produced for Goodman Games and their Dungeon Crawl Classics line of miniatures (which ties back to some of their D&D modules).

I try not to do the classic blue wizard - for whatever reason I've tried to stay away from that cliche. I have a yellow/red and a green robed wizard.

So I thought that I would go with Brown - starting with Scorched Brown and to keep adding Rotting Flesh for the whole model. I did - and it looked like a chocolate Hershey bar left out by the Easter bunny. Therefore I painted a different color robe, than another color, and another - a little of this and a little of that.

Basically it ended up being a salvage project. Even taking a picture of the model ended up being a disaster for some reason - it just wouldn't take - so what's above is the best I could get and provide some realistic coloring.
