Moms, do you do the cry it out method?

Here is my dilemma...I sent this email to one of my bestest friends in the whole wide world who happens to be a Mom of 5. I wanna know your thoughts too.

Dawn,
Your the first person I thought of to ask this.

We are finally having trouble with sleeping issues. The past 2 nights Kayla isnt sleeping as soundly as usual. Normally she would sleep all night, waking up to eat 2-3 times and going right back to sleep when shes done. Not so much anymore, well for the past 2 nights. The first night by 1 am I was awake 4 times with her. She wasnt hungry, or wet, she wasnt fully awake. She was just awake and moving around and wouldnt sleep. I lost count how many times I was up after 1 am.
Last night the same. But she slept soundly until 1 am. After that it was over.
Today I know she is tired. Its 2 pm and she hasnt had a nap at all. She fell asleep alomst in my arms during her last feeding. I put her in her crib for a nap and immediatly she was awake. Im exuhausted. I need more than a hour or 2 sleep. I have a headache from not sleeping.
Everything I read online says not to do the cry it out method until 5-6 months old. Kayla is 2 months old today. What do I do? When did you start Jacob with letting him cry himself to sleep? Is it too early to start this? I dont want her in the habit of only falling asleep and sleeing in my arms. Even though its only been 2 nights of this so I dont think she is in the habit, but I dont want it to develop.

HELP!

On another note...we had Kayla's first WIC appointment today. She weighed in at 11 lbs and 12 oz and a little over 22 inches long. Shes our tall skinny girl! And now we get Similac for free!

She is just full of smiles now. She has been a smiley baby ever since she was 2 hours old but now, her whole face lights up and it just melts me like hot butter. I cant wait to start hearing giggles from this little girl!

I'm tired. What a rambling post. Oops! Sorry.

25 Sept. 08

Kayla's first toy car, from Tammy and Mark. We took these pictures of her yesterday. Shes too little to actually play with the car yet, but she loves the bright pink! *Yesterday was exactly 8 weeks old!
*And today she is able to wear a bow in her hair for the first time!!
*And 2 nights ago she went 5 hours during the night without waking up for a feeding for the first time!
*She is much much more steady with holding her head on her own. We dont have to help her much with that anymore.
*She can now fit into clothes that are size 3 months.
*Her smiles are becoming bigger and much more often.
*She melts our hearts even more when we didnt think that was possible!

21 Sept 08

Its rainy season. The good thing about that is I can leave the back door open all day and listen to torrential downpour all day. Its so relaxing. The bad thing is I wanted to make Nachos for lunch to go with our movie but no chance. Im not going out in this.

Yesterday when we got a break from the downpour we took Kayla to the beach. This time she was awake and this time she got to put her feet in the water. She didnt seem to even care. The pics didnt turn out great because of how dreary it was. But they turned out cute. Here are just a few. Click the picture to see it larger.

Also, I found this poem. It fits Kaitlyn, our birthmother and I so perfectly.
Two women cry into the night,
their eyes are filled with tears.
Oh God why is this happening?
I need to feel you near.

One woman sits alone in the darkness,
Decisions she must make.
She wants to do what's best for the child,
It's life she cannot take.

The other woman clings to her mate
And she doesn't understand
why they can't have a child of their own
as so many others can.

These women come from different worlds.
Their lives are miles apart.
But God would deliver the pain they felt
and heal their broken hearts.

And then one precious morning
their lives became intertwined.
Both women's prayers were answered
as they felt God's plan unwind.

One woman touched her newborn's cheek
and whispered to the babe,
"Because I love you little one,
sacrifices I've made."

With the strength she felt from heaven,
to the other woman she gave
the miracle of a baby
for her to love and raise.

The other woman looked down
at her precious baby's eyes
and thanked God for the woman
who had helped fulfill her life.

Two women pray into the night
and thank the Lord above
for the opportunity he's given them both
to feel a Mother's love.

Getting her room organized.

Kayla in her crib for the first time and her first night home.

Im so sorry Im not a blogger like I used to be. But We are home and doing fantastic. Kayla was angel the whole trip, slept right through all the flights and I even got to sleep too! We are on our 3rd day home now. The first 2 days Kayla slept great, I guess from being jet lagged maybe? But now, we are having trouble with the time change. She was up all last night and today shes sound asleep. I plan to only let her sleep a little bit today hoping she will sleep tonight.

Nick has 21 free days of leave time so we are enjoying every second of the time together as a family. We took her to the beach and got some great pictures of her. She slept the whole time so she didnt get to see the beach but boy did we have fun!
I made a photo college for her (see above) that Im getting printed in a 20x30 and hanging in her room since the pink matches great. Its going on the wall that her changing table is against(see above) so she can look at it while shes laying there and see the 3 of us, espically when her Daddy is deployed. Which by the way will be this comign Feb. Nick will be deploying from Feb 09 to Nov 09. I am not looking forward to that. I dont even want to talk about it.

Today is Sept 11th. Today I remember that tragic day in 2001 and today I remember all those who lost their lives and the sadness their familes are feeling right this very moment.
