Land That I Love~ Memorial Day

Honoring and remembering
soldiers and service members who
gave their life in service...
Memorial Day and every day.

'Patriotic'
'Land that I Love' is No. 3 in my Fraktur series~
Each rug measures 24" x 22"
Hooked with wool strips. I used #6, #7 & #8 wool cuts.
I am having such a fun time with this collection!
There is something about wool...
Warms ones soul~

'Summer'
No. 2 in my Fraktur series...
This design was inspired by walks along the Erie Canal Path...
Beautiful poison sumac blossoms with their long and draping leaves~
Green, deep sage with a hint of chartreuse... with a little wheat, gold, salmon..
They are fond of color changes!
Birds & chipmunks live along the pathway... waterfront real estate~
They must deposit sunflower seeds for snacks and
then forget where they stashed them~
Every now and again a brilliant yellow sunny flower will peek up!

'Spring'
The illustrated collection is titled Frakturs & Flourishes.
Red Rooster Fabrics designed a fabric line from them.
I love putting down lines with my dip pens and homemade walnut ink.
Lines flow naturally, unevenly...
Curves and swirls fall into place as if they were following
the trail of a butterfly.
Tulips in Springtime and my mother loved bleeding hearts.
Purple crocus peeking through just as Robins are building their nests!
Earth day is in April... I thought the dome with the sun would
be a nice way to cover the birds just as treetops do.

Wool is a flourish of its own~
No extra effort needed!

Gold Star Families~ remembering you, too.
Peace and love~

Last day of May~

Hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend, Friends~
Always grateful to spend time with family and`
remember with respect, those who gave so much.

Lilacs have shared their scent... now the air is filled with honeysuckle!

~Solomon's Seal~
The gardens are filled with blossoms... and weeds.
I grab a handful of weeds every time I take our pup for a walk!
He grabs a mouthful of what I toss aside and shakes them.
He let's them know who's boss!
(giggle)

I have added my first rug hooking pattern to my Etsy shop!
'I Love You to the Moon and Back' is hand drawn on natural linen.

My edges are taped on this pattern~
Will sew them eventually.
Learning as I go!
I took care to keep the lines straight of the grain...
That was my goal for this pattern!

I hope you have a great weekend, Friends~
Welcoming June with bouquets of Dame's Rocket!

Patriotic Teddy Bear punch needle

"Patriotic Bear" copyright 2017 Michelle L. Palmer

This was my first chance to design a punch needle project on
coffee toned weavers cloth.
It did help me to choose a more folk/primitive palette!

I frame most of my punch needle pieces.
The darker weavers cloth will look so pretty as the border~

Memorial Day~ Remembering with a grateful heart.
Wishing you a relaxing weekend and safe travels.

Punched Needle Teddy Bear

I keep talking to this little guy in hopes that he will answer me~
'What color for your background, Little Friend?'

Our pup sits tilting his head...
(Confident that he is more deserving of my conversation & attention!)
I will toss some tennis balls with our main furry pal for now.

My little bear friend will have to think on his perfect background~

Hope your week is off to a wonderful start, Friends!
Thank you for stopping by~

Memorial Day~

"Memorial Hill" Copyright Michelle L. Palmer

Today and everyday~
Remembering those who gave their all for our freedom, liberty, peace...

I keep my poppy collection in a small salt box~
One always is attached to my rearview mirror,
put there after thanking a Veteran.
I say a little prayer for our soldiers every time I see it.
That ALL will be home safe and sound, soon.

Hope your Holiday is relaxing and safe~
