30 Days 30 Cards - Day 1

I am so excited to launch our 30 Days, 30 Cards.  Today, I am using Retro Sketches #15.   What I love about sketches are they get you started.  You can flip it, turn it, rearrange it---it's all up to interpretation!

Here is my card that I did using today's sketch.  I wanted to do a vintage card using my Authentique 6x6 Paper Pad - Festive, the palette is gorgeous! Be sure to check out MemoryWorks, for all your paper-crafting needs!
Well, I hope I have inspired you with my sketch of choice, my paperline and my card.  Be sure to stop back every day this month for more TeamWork design team 30 days/30 card sketches and ideas!

Card Crazy Saturday

As promised, I am back today to share with you a card I created that was inspired by another MemoryWorks consultants work. Now, normally for Card Crazy Saturday we select a card created by another consultant but this week I decided to shake things up a bit (hey, you only live once right?). I went browsing in our MemoryWorks Consultant gallery and I came across this adorable layout by Amanda Bratu.

I loved the notched streamers and the three photos lined across the top. I just knew this would make a cute Halloween card and this is what I came up with:

I flipped Amanda's layout on it's side and used some Halloween stamps for my 3 blocks. I can't wait to give this little card to one of my nieces or nephews! I know they will love it! All of the paper on this card came from the new Authentique Enchanted paper collection. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone and a spooky Halloween!

Card Crazy Saturday

It's in the air. Can you feel it? Everything gets just a little spookier this time of year and I love it! I'm talking, of course, about Halloween! Playing dress up was always one of my favorite things to do growing up so naturally a holiday where dressing up is totally accepted (if not expected) is right up my alley. We always try to go all out for Halloween with lots of decorations and fun activities. I always send out Halloween cards too! Truth be told, they are some of my favorite cards to make. I might slack off on my Christmas cards and end up having to send out half store bought cards but I always have enough Halloween cards to go around! This year is no different. With all of the great Halloween papers and embellishments available from MemoryWorks right now, I had no trouble coming up with a few cards worthy of my Halloween stash!

First up is this Trick or Treat card. All of the papers are from the Authentique Enchanted Collection. I used a  piece of the solid black paper as the base and trimmed a piece of patterned paper down a 1/4 inch on each side. Next, I used a piece of the antiqued cream paper and die cut it and stamped it using some items from my stash. The orange felt was die cut and added to the center for a little pop of color.

My second card I used Authentique's Enchanted Collection again and being true to my "use all the scraps" nature, I used pieces I had left from my first card to create this card. This collection of paper has images on both the front and the back so flipping some of my scraps over gave me a new set of papers to work with. I simply trimmed the scraps, die cut a few, stamped a few and managed to create a completely different card. This is one reason I love working with collections of paper, I already know the papers coordinate and that takes the frustration of matching and guessing out of my creative time.

Next Saturday I'll be sharing a card from one of our other MemoryWorks consultants and a card I created that was inspired by that card. Until then, I hope you're feeling extra spooky and ready to start on your own Halloween cards! Thanks for getting creepy with me today, I'll see you next week!

Challenge Me Wednesday--Mix it Up!

It's Challenge me Wednesday and I'm featuring my take on this month's challenge-- Mix it Up! Finding papers and other supplies from a variety of manufacturers and incorporating them into my work is something I do all the time. I love to use up my odd bits and scraps and this kind of challenge is right up my alley. Thanks Lynn for a fun kick-off challenge.

This layout features papers from Crate paper, LillyBee, Authentique and Simple Stories, and embellishments from the same lines along with October Afternoon. It's all spelled out below. I liked how the colors from their clothing, skin tones and front door are in these papers and the flower background makes me thing happy thoughts, and moving into a new home is a very happy thought indeed.

Since the papers and embellishments were already out, I made a couple of quick ATCs which can go in my ATC collection or be used as an embellishment on a page or to create a card or tag. I used products from the same lines as above, and added some Stickles to the butterfly and rose chip boards for a bit of dazzle. The paper flower here and above in the layout were made the same way--I used a Marvy-Uchida flower punch and punched several scraps. I inked the edges and crumpled up the flowers. Using a brad as a center I combined several flowers, crumpled the top flower for texture and adhered with a glue dot. This quick and easy flower uses up scraps and adds the perfect finishing touch.

So, lets get mixing!

Supplies used:

Crate Paper Random (flowered background paper, border strip from paper and chip board heart/flower/butterfly)
Authentique Splendid(pink trellis paper, tags, dragonfly stamp)
LilyBee Memorandum (blue damask/green trellis paper, alphas for "sweet")
Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer (stripe paper, flourish sticker, banner sticker)
October Afternoon (Little Flyer "happiness", "home" alphas)
MME--twine
Basic Grey--brads
Ranger--Distress Ink, Stickles
Kraft cardstock
