New Hutch for Hubby's birthday

I really like my new hutch. It was so hard to decide on a final design...I thought about it for over 2 yrs! This is Amish made and will last forever, so I wanted something that felt heirloomish. However, I wanted it to be huge and this style of hutch is usually much smaller. I love the stain color, but not the smell, down fall of local made furniture. What a privilege to design it my self and have one fella build it! I am thankful and blessed.

Yes, it true, hubby's birthday IS this weekend...however, the hutch and table are not his birthday gifts. However, we WILL have our first meal together at that table on his birthday...does that count???

That's a fifth leg you see; the table is very heavy! It was built by my Amish friend. Plus it has 4 leaves that extend it to over 100 inches. Those are my old chairs. Hubby was in Florida when I made all my final choices and I wanted him to be involved in choosing new chairs. What style chair do y'all think would look nice?

(Just deleted the close up of tea and pumpkin muffin and don't know how to replace it to this exact spot...oh well, y'all can picture it in your minds...right?!)
I enjoyed my first cup of tea at my new table along with a pumpkin spice muffin. They are a favorite Fall treat in my home. I add those tiny little chocolate bits! I'm looking forward to all the future muffin crumbs and family memories around this table. Let's pray the movers don't destory it on the way to Florida!

Here's where my hutch is...

I snapped a few pictures around Ray's while Little Man was playing with his adorable children. Ray is the Amish fella that is making my furniture. What a beautiful home and family he has. My table is a bit behind b/c I was sick all last week and didn't call him with some details...hmm, story's sounding a bit familiar, huh ?! He did confirm that the hutch is finished.

Our Point Of Grace trip

Here I am with a dear friend of mine from my OBU days (which is also where I met Shelley and Denise from POG). She drove up to meet us at the Point of Grace show. We have that "loves at all times" kinda friendship...that's the best kind ya know. She is a forever friend and very precious to me.
This is the cozy breakfast area at the B & B. Yes, Sissy is bare foot once again! I promise...she has shoes! Do flip flops count?!

Sissy loved seeing the green field with horses in the distance. I wonder what she was thinking?

Point of Grace concert and a B&B

Sissy and I are off to Indiana to see Point of Grace in concert. If you don't know their music ya gotta check them out: http://www.pointofgrace.net/ We will be staying at a B & B in Amish country. Can y'all tell we love going there? I live in such a busy place that is so nice to get away and slow down...you know, sit a spell. With this being Mother's Day weekend, it's a quick trip, but well worth it. This trip the landscape will be in full mode Spring time! I might even get to see an old friend from my Ouachita Baptist University days! Happy Mother's Day mamas!
Here is a local Amish farm. I love seeing grazing horses.

This shop is close to the B & B down a scenic country road...it smells sooo good in there. I think I'll make time to stop by this Amish bakery.

Looking forward to more home made pie! This is peanut butter pie...Sissy loves it. I'm not a huge peanut butter fan, but this is yummy. The crust was so good. We usually share a piece, which is a good thing since we order pie at every meal! What's your favorite pie?

B & B in Amish Country

Sissy and I took a Mama-Daughter trip in April to northern Indiana's Amish Country. We stayed in this 100 yr old Amish home which is now a B & B. Our inn keepers were a young Amish couple. This home was built by the Amish and an Amish family lived here until it recently became a B & B.

Sarah took us on a buggy ride through the country side. The horse recognized their old home and tried to turn!

This is where we had dinner one night. We chose the buffet which included all of this plus more! Our fav was the home made rolls and apple butter. Sissy also like putting the Amish peanut butter on her roll.

The reason this shot is last is because here's Sissy after a full day...shop till you drop...Just DON'T drop that bag Sissy cause our pie is in there. She didn't and we ate it at 10:30 pm that night! It was sooo good.

Off to Amish Country

These pictures were taken last spring in northern IN Amish country. It won't be so green on our trip there tomorrow!
