One Year in Singapore

We have finally made it to our one-year mark in Singapore.  We arrived on the tiny, humid, lovely island of Singapore one year ago today!  Whew.  We made it!  The first year was full of many ups and downs but through it all we've all come to appreciate this place we will call home for a little while.  I feel like our family has grown a lot through all of the experiences we've had.  We've been able to have a lot of FUN and go on so many adventures exploring this place.  There is so much culture here and that's one thing that I really love about it.

Our second school year is underway and the boys are doing so well that my heart is swelling with gratitude.  This is going to be a GREAT year and I look forward to all that it will bring us.

Here are some of my favorite moments from year 1.

We got to choose a new place to live! We love our location being so close to the boys' school.
It means a LONG 90 minute commute for Colin (each way)
but he's a trooper and the rest of the time, it's great!

We love the eternal summer and the fact that we get to swim every day of the year!

There are lots of places to go, things to do, and many family-friendly activities.

The Church is strong here and we LOVE our ward.  Service in the Church here is like nothing I've ever experienced before- but I love it!  I am the Primary President in our ward which means I'm in charge of all of the kids from ages 18 months to 12 years old.  It's a big responsibility and can sometimes keep me pretty busy but I really, really love my calling.

Halloween in the Woodlands is AWESOME.  Crazy!  But awesome.

Singapore is 1 little degree above the equator so it's warm, and tropical, and it rains A LOT.
It rains almost every single day, and sometimes, it rains really hard!
Did you know Singapore has the most lightening except for Dubai?

Ryan loves activity days.

We got to spend Thanksgiving Day on the beach... eating pizza!

The snow here is a LITTLE bit different, but pretty fun!

We love the Singapore Zoo!

And we REALLY love being so close to Stuart, Brooke, Ocean, Maple, and Katie.
It's nice to see them so much more than we would if we lived in the states.

The boys' school... what can I say?  I think it's probably my favorite part of all!
There's so much to be said!  If you want to read more, look at my "school" tag.

Super Trees!

Chinese New Year.  The festivities go on and on!

Swimming at Marina Bay Sands hotel pool- on the 57th floor!

We took a trip to Thailand for Spring Break.  Ah.  Maze.  Ing!

And Colin and I got to go to Hong Kong!

My favorite view of the Singapore skyline- The Marina Barrage.
And!  Singapore National Day!

I'll have to do another post dedicated to food.  That's SO not my style but... it's gotta be done!

Jen, I LOVE reading about your adventures with your family. I don't comment as often as I should, but please know I read them and love to see what you are all up too.
