CORK and FORK with a bit of UGLY!

It all began when I wanted to get the "girls" together for
a holiday gathering.  I used to host "cookie exchange parties"
but our tastes have changed...
And I prefer to take my calories via WINE!

I decided on an UGLY SWEATER PARTY!

I have been making cards and found this
UGLY SWEATER stamp set.
So I made the invites using various festive
papers and ink colors.

I typed the inside to get all the information on it.
Printed it off my computer and added a sweater stamp!

I made party favors using up my old antique button collection.
Put them in a Dollar Tree salt shaker and added
some bling and a Christmas tree.
I also made the cards, gift tag and decorated
brown lunch bags to hold it all.

Here are some of the trees as I worked on them.
I ended up making 25 of them.
22 people came to the party!

Here's a collection of the goodies one of the
UGLY SWEATER winners took home.
She got the 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle as her
prize for MOST ORIGINAL.
You will see all the sweaters in another post.

I added a second layer to the party...
'Cork and Fork'
Bring a WINE and pair it with an APPETIZER!

Ahhh...yep the wine bar filled up fast!

I made a Irish Cream and Coffee
Pound Cake and offered lots of my
Homemade Christmas Cookies for dessert.
In my Vintage Red Truck/Christmas Tree Dining Room.

Everyone gathers for a feast of great appetizers.
All decked out in UGLY sweaters

The party lasted 4 hours but the time FLEW by!
Maybe you will consider doing this for your girls.
Its a gift of spending time with each other...
that makes it all so special!

Merry Christmas to all my BLOGGY Friends too!

2019 MYSTERY QUILT CHALLENGE

Columbus Modern Quilters revealed their
2019 Mystery Quilts at our Holiday Party!

The results were amazing.
The mystery designer and pattern remains a mystery.
The challenge coordinator, Leigh Morgan,
is using the same designer for the 2020 MQ Challenge. 😚

Sew...enjoy these beautiful creations!
Kudos to all the girls who took the challenge
and finished their tops for the reveal!
Another mystery is why weren’t there more?
It’s sew FUN!

HOLIDAY SEW IN!

I like to plan...I like to make events, well eventful!
As a member of Columbus Modern Quilters
I decided to organize a Holiday Sew In
at a local library for as many sewing elves as possible.

Attendees had to SIGN UP via a Google Doc
and sign up for committees, etc.
24 sign up and 22 attended...

There were 'homemade' sweet treats made by many attendees!

I collected SWAG for the attendees that included
shopping discounts on quilting designer websites, to rulers
and Coldwell Banker Real Estate (thanks Katy Jones)
put together a book of 10 Christmas patterns
I gathered from free on-line sources.

I made a small pincushion and thread catcher for each attendee
using my Christmas Scraps stash.
And the gift tags...cause I dabble in paper crafts too!

I lined up several demos showing holiday gifts.

Many participated in a quilt book/pattern swap
 for the holiday gift exchange.

There was an UGLY SWEATER contest
with lots of very CUTE participants.
The library patrons enjoyed our fun event as much as us!

and there were a few Grinches who just enjoyed the show
and placed their votes!

The winners were...
Maggie Mandmann won the cutest sweater
...Llama Love right here!

Catina King, from Indiana, won the "most original"  sweater!

Leigh Morgan claimed the UGLIEST sweater award.
She stopped customers as she picked up our
 catered lunches from Panera!

It all wrapped up with wonderful friends old and new
and a lot of smiles!

And the best gift of the day...to me...WINE!
Thank you Leigh!

And with that, I went home, drank that wine and collapsed!
It was a LOT of work but its SEW worth it when
no one expects a non-typical sew-in!
That's just what Mrs. Claus likes!

Merry Christmas!
