CORK IT!

I hadn't made a bag for myself in quite some time.
I wanted to use up some of my cork!
I found a pattern that seemed perfect.

I like when a pattern has labels for the pieces needed.
Keeps me organized and happy!

The red is cork and sew easy to work with.

I don't always follow a pattern exactly.
Sometimes I change up a pocket, add a key toggle.

My label is added.

I added a slip pocket to the front for my phone.
The pattern called for a zipper pocket.

All ready for the fall season.

I think I will add a false bottom for more structure and support.

Anyway, I love it and hope you do to!

AUNT HATTIE'S QUILT V2.0

My Aunt Hattie was one of 4 sisters who loved to quilt.
When I was about 12 she showed me how to tie this quilt.
I had no idea then what she gave me to my not yet know
quilting journey.
50 years later Hattie's quilt needed an update.

Sew I took it apart, tossed the nasty batting,
pieced together Quilters Dream batting pieces,
and bought a new blanket for the backing.
I found some suede yarn for re-tying it.

I found some suede yarn for re-tying it.

This baby is HUGE, the blanket is KING size.
And heavy, very heavy.

I pulled the blanket to the front
and machine stitched it down as a facing
and it was finished.

And someone is gonna be snuggly and warm this winter!

My son Eric was excited to hear I had saved Aunt Hattie's quilt.
He remembers snuggling under it as a kid.
One day it will be his again.

SEWCIAL DISTANCE LOVE CHAINS

My frind Kim Hensley and I live only a few miles apart.
but we love to make SEWCIAL DISTANCE quilts.

It all started during COVID 19 lockdowns
and we just never stopped.

This is Number 10 in our fun journey!
Made in February 2024
Yes Kate to the Vame tunes Oarty again!

You can find this free "Love Chains" quilt pattern
at The Fat Quarter shop!

Since it was a February SewAlong
we both loved this pattern choice

!
I didn't really want a red, pink and white quilt
but I wanted to use some fabrics I love!
This pattern is layer cake friendly, but I raided my stash!

I have hoarded Stacy Hsu, Coral-Queen of the Seas
Charm Pack and sew that was my main choice.
I love the sea, I love these color
and I knew I had FQs in similar colors
that I could use for the large hearts.

And Kim selected a Layer Cake from her stash!
Sincerely Yours

Kim has it all cut out...ready to roll.

I used my Stripology Ruler to cut all the pices for the backing.

Week 1 we made the 21 large hearts
I am using a light color GRUNGE

and these are Kim's

Week 2 we made the 42 small blocks.  This took some time
and there were lots of tiny pieces.

And the blocks all need side sashing.

I put everyting on the design wall.
Well almost everything..stay tuned.

Sewing rows is next.
and I trim all blocks, all rows as I go.
Every tiny little bit can make a difference
in the final quilt top laying FLAT!

OK here's the part where i tell you..I forgot the horizontal sashing.
Mistake? or Design element?

I wondered why some of the intersections was thicker than others.
Had I used the horizontal strips (that were buried somewhere and out of sight)
then my process would have been easier
and my quilt a little bigger.

I added the 2 1/2" borders
and all is well.
Backing and binding is made.
This one is ready for the longarmer.!

WONKED OUT GHASTLIES

Several years ago I was in a Ghastlies Wonky Star Swap
with a few Friends on Instagram.
All of us used white low volume backgrounds,
And added our own Ghastlies prints and stash for then stars.

These are my blocks!

They sat for years as I was unsure what I wanted to do with them.
I never rush into anything!

Someone gave me this pattern and a lightbulb went off!
I could do something similar, but different.

I made sure all the blocks were the same size and proceeded from there
And I found the greenish fabric in my stash for background.

Blocks went into design wall.

,
I added black GRUNGE corner stones, and smashing squares
Using the green for sashings.

THIS was the result!

My Ghastlies Wonky Star Quilt Top
is off to the longarmer!
Backing is the same greenish fabric.

This will be the 9th Ghastlie quilt
I have made for my collection.
