Princess Catie Layout

I had these really cute pictures of my 7-year-old daughter and I wanted to share them with all of you. I made them black and white. There is something about the way black and white pictures look. I just love them. In certain pictures, they just make the picture so much better in my opinion. This layout came straight out of my imagination. I love the splash of color too.

Ingredients:
Cricut Expression
Plantin School Book cart
Swirly stamp with Ink It Up! black ink
ATG gun
K&Company stickers
Brads
Craft Lite Cutter (mini zigzag cutting tool)
Provocraft pointed tool (to make holes for brads)
Xyron sticker maker
Xyron adhesive runner
Lace embellishments
DCWV Cardstock paper.

I also wanted to try out my newly re-adhesived (is that a word?) Cricut mat. I bought some Goo-Gone yesterday and I used it to clean off my mat, then I scrubbed it with soap and water. I taped it off and sprayed repositionable spray adhesive from Krylon on it. It seemed to work okay today; however, what I noticed is that although it makes the mat sticky, it seems to stay sticky on your hands if you touch it. I'm not sure this is the right kind of adhesive I should be using. I'll have to experiment a little more. Anybody have any suggestions as to what kind of spray adhesive I should use?

Super Behavior Award

One of the rules in our house for our children is good behavior at school. We've never had a problem with this and our kids but, like most 5 year old's, my kindergartener has the attention span the size of a gnat!!! It doesn't help that he's the very youngest in his class with his birthday being at the end of August.

As an incentive in the classroom, his teacher gives out Super Behavior awards. During the first half of the year, she would hand them out to the kids that earned them at the end of the day but the second half of the year, she started handing them out at the beginning of the day and then if the child was misbehaving, she'd write the infraction on the back of the award and if the child received more than 2 infractions, then she'd take the award away.

Every day when Dylon gets home from school, the first thing out of his mouth is "Super, no marks or super, one mark or no super because....." Now if he loses his Super Behavior award, then he loses video game/computer privileges for that day and if it's a Thursday (my kids have no school on Fridays) then he loses privileges for the entire weekend so it's a HUGE deal for him to get a Super Behavior award every day.

Because this is such a big deal in our house, I decided to do a scrapbook page about it. The pictures are from Dylon's first day of school. Isn't he such a handsome boy??

Ingredients:
Cricut Expression
Plantin School Book
Craft Light Cutter
ATG Gun
DCWV paper
Foam lettering.

I used the Plantin School Book cartridge to cut the lettering out at 2 inches. I also used it to cut the awards out at 3 inches.

I cut the pictures with my cutter and then used my ATG gun to bring it all together.

I used pop dots under the blue ribbons to add dimension and to give it a little extra, I lined the awards with a black ink pen!

Hope ya'll like it. Have a great Tuesday!!!

Spring Fling Crawl - Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog

I decided to participate in the Spring Fling Cricut Crawl hosted by the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.

The requirements for this crawl are to make a project that is "springy" and uses the colors pink, yellow and green.

I did a layout of one of my favorite pictures of my daughter, Catelynn. We were at the park and she was standing behind this climbing wall that had very large holes in it. I took the picture and it just came out so cute. It was a bright sunny day outside, perfect for playing at the park. Thank goodness the weather is getting nice enough to go outside without a jacket on!!! Yay!! Bring on the summer.

Another requirement is that you had to use the Cricut for at least one image! Well I just won the "Welcome Spring" Cricut Cartridge from Jenny at Scrap With Jenny. It came in the mail today so I was able to use it for this project!!! Just in time for Spring. I love this cartridge already!!!!

Ingredients:
Welcome Spring cartridge
ATG gun
Lace
Pink blingie brads
K&Company specialty paper
DCWV paper.
Xyron 1 inch sticker maker

Recipe:
I cut the title out at 3 inches.
The flower embellishment on the lower left was cut at 3 inches
The embellishment on the lower right was cut at 1.5 inches.

My ATG gun (my absolute most favorite scrapbooking tool) was used to put it all together.

I hope you all like it. Thanks for looking!

Building My Scrapbook Supplies

Ever since I started building up my scrapbook supplies, one of the main things I use is my Tombo Mono Tape Runner. This has always worked great for me. The only problem I've ever had with it, is it's too expensive. You buy the initial runner from anywhere between $6.00 and $7.00 and then each refill is somewhere between $4.00 and $5.00 (this is based on my teeny tiny town prices). I've been lucky a few times and found some great deals on eBay but still, you go through them so fast. I've been known to go through a refill in a day. Now, let's assume I bought the runner and a refill at the same time (keep in mind, when you buy the runner, it comes with a roll of adhesive already in it). That's about 450 inches of tape. It would be really easy for me to go through all of the first roll and a refill within a couple of days if I'm crafting heavily. That being said, that's spending about $12.00 within a couple days on tape!! That's crazy!

So, today, I upgraded. I found this on eBay and it was so reasonably priced. I can't wait to use it!

AND...IT'S EVEN PINK! This ATG gun comes with 2 refills at 1/4" wide x 36 yards of adhesive! I'm so excited. The fact that it supports breast cancer awareness is even better. I have a couple of friends who have been touched by this awful disease so it brings me joy and happiness that I'm contributing to finding a cure!

This gun with the 2 refills cost me around $35.00 on eBay. I'm so glad that I will finally be able to scrap without interrupting or fear of running out of tape. Whoo Hoo!!!

Please leave me a comment and tell me if you've found any great finds lately!

Have a wonderful Thursday...Oh and don't forget, check back here tomorrow and participate with me in my first ever Cricky Across The 50 Blog Hop hosted by Getting Cricky with K. Andrews. I will be giving away an awesome clear stamp set from Fiskars.
So come join us on our adventures across the United States and meet some fabulous bloggers along the way!!
