Lace and pearls at Crafty Little Fairies

Hello lovely people,

OK, I think it's actually winter now folks and the heating is on a lot in my house but I am one of those people that always feels the cold.  I haven't quite got to the stage of wearing socks in bed yet but I'll keep you posted!

Anyway, enough of the weather and on to our new challenge at Crafty Little Fairies where we have the theme of...

LACE AND PEARLS

Our sponsor this week is Live and Love Crafts with a £10 voucher for our lucky winner and I know I could spend this in a flash - it's one of my favourite places to shop!

I really wanted to have another go at making a criss-cross card; you can see my first tiny little one here.  I was able to make a good sized one (140cm square) out of a single piece of card this time since I ordered some A3 Kraft card from Anna Marie Designs.  It is a lovely weight (270gsm) for making base cards from but works well for matting purposes too.

I cut several label shapes with my Cricut and layered them together to make a large tag to go inside - there is a blank panel to write a message on.

The image is quite small but I think it works well on this criss-cross design and the cute bear is perfect for so many occasions.

I really went to town with the embellishments on this one and made sure I added plenty of pretty pearls!  I even took the original flower centres out of the sweetheart blossoms and replaced them with pearls!

Card recipe;
Scallop square: Nestie die
Scallop edge: Martha Stewart edge punch
Flowers: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Teddy: E41/42/43
Flowers: RV0000/R81/83/85/R39 & E47
Grass/leaves: YG91/93

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Inky Chicks (pearls and swirls)
2.  Sweet Stampin' (tags)
3.  Totally Gorjuss (3 DPs)
4.  Divas by Design (make it pretty)

I hope you will visit the rest of the Fairies at Crafty Little Fairies as they have been hard at work creating some wonderfully pretty cards to inspire you.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Bring on the bling

Hello lovely people,

I can't believe it has been 4 weeks since we set you the KISS challenge at In The Pink and I know it's one you all struggle with as we had some very loose interpretations of the theme - lol!
So, we thought we'd go for something a little bit easier this time and that is...
Bling it up!
I have to confess that my card isn't quite as blingy as it was in my head when I planned it but I do rather like it!

I also have to confess to buying new craft stash, namely this beautiful Tilda stamp.  I have been thinking of trying out a Magnolia for a while and this one fell into my shopping basket whilst buying a stamp for my Mum for her birthday ;-)

For my bling I have used a sprinkling of glamour dust (both on the card and myself!), several pearls and a couple of tiny little gems - can you spot them?!
I curved the sentiment and raised the centre on some foam pads... I think this turned out pretty effective so you might be seeing this again!

Card recipe;
Image: Magnolia - Tilda binding flowers (from Sir Stampalot)
DP: Maja Designs - Sofiero/Vintage Summer Basics
Flowers / pearls / pearl brad / seam binding: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Fancy frame: Spellbinders Nesties - Timeless Rectangles
Leaves: Memory Box die - Lavish Branch
Sentiment: Kaisercraft mini set

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/51 &R30/21
Hair: E50/51/53/31/43
Dress: RV000 & R81/83/85
Ribbon: R83/85
Flowers: BV0000/000/00/01/02/04/08
Leaves: YG61 & G21/94
Shoes: E53/55/57
Ground: T0/1/2/3/4

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Wild Orchid Crafts (add a die cut)
2.  Papertake Weekly (make it sparkle)
3.  Inky Chicks (Pretty in Pink)

We know you love the sparkly shiny stuff so no excuses for not entering our challenge :-)  If you need any more inspiration pop over to In The Pink and see what the rest of the DT have created... be prepared to be dazzled!

Before I go I would like to apologise for being a bad blogger as I have not been round to visit you all as much as I would like over the last couple of weeks.  It's been one of these 'life gets in the way' fortnights and I hope things are going to settle down a bit now.

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,

To have and to hold

Hello lovely people,

Welcome to the weekend!  And that means it is time for a new challenge at Totally Gorjuss.  Our theme this week is...
Pearls
Well, aren't we just spoiling you with these lovely easy themes of late!

Pearls always make me think of wedding cards; the two are just a natural pairing, so I have made a wedding card using one of my new LOTV Pretty Vintage stamps.  They make such a lovely focal point, especially if you don't want a bride & groom type image.

The rest of the card just sort of made itself really :-)  I stamped the flowers with a text stamp using 'second-hand' ink i.e. I stamped it on some scrap paper first then on the flowers to get a nice muted result.  I also brushed a little distress ink round the edge of the petals for definition.
And then I added those all important pearls!

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Designs Vintage Summer Basics
Lacy edge: Martha Stewart edge punch
Flowers / seam binding: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearl flourishes (cut up a bit!): from The Hobby House

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  ABC (S is for stitching)
1.  Simon Says Stamp (anything goes)

I hope you have time now to head over to Totally Gorjuss to see what the other Gorjussettes have come up with :-)
J&C Creations are our sponsor this week so show us your pearly creations for a chance to win a voucher to sped in their online store!

Thanks for visiting me,

Hugs,

Christmas Angel

Hello lovely people,

I apologise for my erratic posting at present - I did posts 3 days in a row at the end of last week and then...silence!  I have to admit that I have been rather enjoying the sunshine and spending less time in my craft room than usual :-)

I did pop in for long enough to create something for our new challenge at Totally Gorjuss where we have the theme of...
Christmas in July!

If you are a regular visitor you will know this is my second Christmas card this year so I shall now consider myself well ahead of the game and not touch my Christmas stuff until December... yeah, that's a good plan!

We are sponsored by the totally wonderful Saturated Canary this week so I am sharing a card using one of the fab Christmas images.

I had another play with my Frantage and got a lighter sprinkling this time round - this stuff is seriously gorgeous!  I am going to need more colours...
I also kept the colour palette really limited as I love the frosty look for Christmas cards.  I added a little Glossy Accents to the baubles but, as usual, it doesn't show up in the photos.
Here's a closer look anyway at this sweet angel;

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Designs Vintage Spring Basics
Swirly edges: Spellbinders Nestabilities Timeless Rectangles (cut up into bits)
Frantage: Stampendous shabby white
Snowflakes: Quickutz die
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/51 & R30
Hair: E41/42/43
Blue bits: B0000/000/00 & blender
Grey bits: T0/1/2 & blender

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Saturated Canary (glamour and glitz)
2.  A Little Bit Crafty (die-ing for it)
3.  Papertake Weekly (die-ing for a punch)
4.  Divas by Design (anything goes)
5.  The Ribbon Girl (blue and white)

For more Christmas inspiration pop over to Totally Gorjuss and see what my teamies have created.  And don't forget that if you join in our challenge you could win a prize from Saturated Canary :-)

I think it is set to rain tomorrow so maybe I will actually get some more crafting done!  Not that I am going so far as to request rain for this purpose of course - that would be madness!

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,

Fairy Hugs

Hello lovely people,

I see I have a few new followers so just want to say welcome and it's so lovely to have you along for the ride :-)

I  have added a new fairy to my collection; I just couldn't resist getting one from the newest release at Tiddly Inks although it was tough to stop myself buying the whole lot!

I tend to make a beeline for my pink DP where fairies are concerned ...ok, maybe for quite a lot of my cards ;-)  I distressed the edges of the DP with my new Tim Holtz distressing tool - certainly a lot easier than using scissors!

I added quite a lot of glamour dust to her wings because fairies should really sparkle :-)  Isn't she just the cutest thing?

I thought this image would make a lovely 'get well soon' card but instead of using that wording for the sentiment I have used some of the tiny LOTV tags to give the same idea.

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics (available from LLC)
Lace: from stash
Flowers: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/51 & R30
Hair: E42/43/44
Dress: RV91/93/95
Wings: RV0000/000/91
Branch: E40/41/41
Bird / egg: B91/93
Leaves: YG61/63
Nest: E44/47

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;

1.  In the Pink (pink and pearlie)
2.  Tiddly Inks (fairy or mermaid)
3.  Bunny Zoe (pink and white)
4.  As You Like It (favourite occasion - to cheer someone up or say get well soon or just because - the ones that people don't expect are the nicest!)

Well, I don't know about you but I am ready for a relaxing sunny weekend with a few cheeky G&Ts whilst catching up with friends - perfect!

Thanks so much for visiting,

Hugs,

It's Christmas...in July!

Hello lovely people,

Oh yes, it's beautiful sunny weather and I've made a Christmas card!  The reason for this is that it is time for a new challenge over at Lili's Little Fairies and this week we have the theme
Christmas in July!
Our sponsor for this week is Delicious Doodles who have a wide range of fab images available :-)

Now, I don't normally pull out the Christmas stuff until at least October...probably November...maybe December if I am being really disorganised.  Which Dr Hubby will tell you is pretty much all of the time!
So, this has to be the earliest I have ever made a Christmas card but it was kinda fun!

LOTV have an amazing range of Christmas stamps but this one is my absolute favourite and the first one I turn to every year.  I went for sepia toned colouring to complement the DP and since it is a Christmas card I just had to throw on some glamour dust :-)

I got to use one of my new dies for the pretty edging; it has a line of stitch holes just above the lacy edge but since I already had some real stitching I covered it up!

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Designs - It's Christmas Time
Fancy edge: Marianne Designs stitch border die
Seam binding: Wild Orchid Crafts
Button / twine: from stash
Sentiment: Handwritten {Christmas} Sentiments from Pink Petticoat
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
All in various combinations of E40/41/42/43/44

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;

1.  Papertake Weekly (buttons and bows)
2.  Crafts and Me (anything goes)

So, that's it from me but if you pop over to Lili's Little Fairies you can see lots of beautiful Christmas cards from the rest of the Fairies :-)

I'm off to put those Christmas supplies away again...

Thanks for visiting,

Sweet

Hello lovely people,

Ooh, look, it's still sunny!  I have had the last couple of days off work and have totally enjoyed the sunshine pottering in the garden.  I have so far harvested some broad beans, new potatoes, a few strawberries and lots of lettuce, and have so many raspberries I (almost) don't know what to do with them!
This morning I went for a long walk with Dr Hubby and for anyone who knows what I am talking about, found 17 Geocaches :-)
Oh, and I also found a bit of time to make a couple of cards while I was recovering from all that sunshine and outdoor stuff :-)

So, down to the important business and that is a new challenge over at Totally Gorjuss and this week the theme is...
Sweet!
Our sponsor this week is Crafters Companion with a voucher to spend in store on some of their many goodies; now that is sweet!

I have used one of my favourite Stamping Bella stamps and after my last few cards which had a lot of embellies I kept this one really plain as I like to change things up every now and then!

I paper pieced the dress and then added a touch of shading/folds with a couple of Copics.

Card recipe;
Image: 'Ava loves to celebrate' by Stamping Bella
DP: Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics
Lacy edge: Martha Stewart edge punch
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Oops, I think I threw the list away by accident - sorry!

Thanks for visiting and I do hope you pay a visit to Totally Gorjuss to see what my teamies have created.

Wishing you all a lovely sunny weekend :-D

Hugs,
Kat xx

What's new?

Hello lovely people,

The last few days have been very exciting as I have had several parcels of craft goodies delivered!  I often end up ordering lots of stuff all at once and then the fun starts!  I was also lucky enough to win some fabulous candy from Jen of The Tiny Blue Butterfly; if you haven't seen her beautiful CAS cards then I suggest a visit to her blog...after you finish reading my post of course :-P

So, some of the things I have treated myself to include;
- the final set of Copic sketch markers so I now have them all :-)
- some fab dies
- some frantage (eventually took the plunge!)
- an enormous load of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts - well they were on sale so it would have been rude not to ;-)
- a huge pile of Maja Design papers as they are my favourites

Ok, after all that waffle I do have a card to share with you using just a few of my new items;

I had a go with the Frantage and got it all over my craft room floor and myself but had a lot of fun doing it!  I think  need a little more practice to get a slightly lighter scattering but I'm pretty happy with my first attempt and it is soooo pretty!
Talking of pretty, here is a close up of little Ava;

I have used lots of layers as usual but without matting them onto Kraft card or inking the edges for a change and really like the subtle effect.  You can see some of my new flowers on the corner of the card and one has had a little Frantage treatment as well :-)

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Designs - Sofiero (limited edition) - available from Live and Love Crafts
Seam binding / flowers / pearls; from Wild Orchid Crafts
Twine: from my candy win
Frantage: Shabby White from Live and Love Crafts
Sentiment: from LOTV
Leaves: Memory Box Lavish Branch die
Butterflies: Impression Obsession die

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/51 & R30
Hair: E51/53/55
Eyes: B91/93
Pink bits: RV11/32/34
Green bits: G40 & YG61/63
Shoes: E42/43/44
Pale grey bits: N0/1/2

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;

1.  Saturated Canary (Celebrate)
2.  A Creative Romance (ribbon or twine - both in my case!)
3.  Sweet Stampin' (butterflies and bows)
4.  The Ribbon Girl (add a bow)
5.  ABC (quite a few layers)

Thanks for visiting and for sticking with my super long post today.  I hope to be back soon to share some more new stuff with you all :-)

Hugs,
Kat xx

Wings

Hello lovely people,

Firstly I would like to give a huge welcome to my newest followers; thank you so much for joining me in my little crafty world :-)

Secondly, I apologise for not being around in blogland very much over the last week as I have been struggling with migraines - grrrr.

Thirdly, it is time for a new challenge over at Totally Gorjuss and our theme this week is 'Wings' so it will be no surprise that I have gone for a fairy ;-)
Don't you just love when you have new stash to play with?  I got to play with quite a bit of new stash on this card - the papers, the cute tag sentiments from LOTV and the pearl swirls are all new.

Looking at my card you could be forgiven for thinking that our theme this week is 'Pearls' as I do seem to have used rather a lot of them but I do love them!

The last time I coloured this cutie I went for girly pink colours so this time I wanted to change it up a bit and go for something a bit fresher and brighter and I love how it came out :-)

Card recipe;
Image: Wryn Fairy Friends from Tiddly Inks
DP: Bo Bunny - Prairie Chic
Label shape: cut with Cricut
Sentiments: Sentiment tags from LOTV
Flowers: from stash
Pearls: From The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/01/51 & R30
Hair: E15/25/57/29
Dress/shoes: BG53/57/49
Wings: BG0000/000
Mushroom: E11/13/15 & E50/30/21
Flowers: R81/83/85
Leaves/grass: YG17

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;

1.  Simon Says Stamp (anything goes)
2.  Cute Card Thursday (fly like a bird)
3.  Divas by Design (pretty pearls)
4.  Bunny Zoe (wings)

Thankfully I have a quiet weekend ahead so I plan to do some serious relaxing, go for a nice long walk with Dr Hubby and maybe even squeeze in a bit of crafting ;-)

For some more winged loveliness pop over to Totally Gorjuss and see what the rest of the DT have created.  I hope you can join in our challenge for a chance to win a gift voucher for the fantastic Bunny Zoe's Crafts shop :-)

Drinking buddies

Hello lovely people,

I am off on my holidays tomorrow so you won't hear much from me for the next week!  Dr Hubby and I are off to the Peak District so I have everything crossed for some sunshine!

I thought I would share one more card with you before I go and I may have something to share mid-week if Mr Blogger plays nicely!

I made the memo pin from some wire and used my fave combo of seam binding and lace layered together with a pretty bow. I have had comments on my neat bows before so let me tell you there is much fiddling with them to get them how I want them and I always put a line of glue along the back of the cut edges to stop them fraying.

Having paper pieced the dresses there wasn't much of the image left to colour with my Copics and I then cropped the bottom off to give a square image.

Card recipe;
Image: Stamping Bella - Victoria and Juliette's Night Out (available at Dies to Die For)
DP: Maja Designs Vintage Spring Basics
Seam binding / pearls: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Lace: from The Ribbon Girl

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;

1.  Bunny Zoe (case a DT card - I have used the pretty colours from Silvie's card)
2.  As You Like It (fave rubber stamp - love this one as it is so versatile and I have used it loads both coloured and paper pieced)
3.  A Creative Romance (anything goes)

Thanks for visiting,

Good luck bear

Hello lovely people,

Happy Liliday to everyone!  Yes, it's time for another challenge at Lili's Little Fairies and this week we want to see 'Good Luck' cards.  This might not seem too easy at first but it can be wishing someone luck for anything you like; leaving to have a baby, a new job, a driving test etc.
Or, like me you could make a fairly non-specific good luck card... although I don't think it would work for a bloke!

I have used one of the Posy Trio stamps so I made quite a wee card, just 10x10cm for the base and this is the first time I have done a criss-cross design - I really like the style though so will definitely be doing this again.

The tag inside pulls out and there is space to write a message on it.

The image is coloured with Copics, cut out with a Nestie circle and layered onto a Nestie scalloped circle.  I may have gone a little mad with the pearls but I really love these teeny tiny little ones - just so cute!

Card recipe;
DP: Kaisercraft - Tigerlilly
Scalloped edge: Magnolia DooHickey Die - Tilda Lace
Seam binding: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearls: 2mm ivory silk from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Bear: E41/42/43 &E44 for nose
Flowers: R81/83/85 & G21/YG61

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Wild Orchid Crafts (lots of layers)
2.  The Ribbon Girl (add a die cut)
3.  The Hobby House (anything goes)

Don't forget to pop over to Lili's Little Fairies to see what the rest of the DT have created and I hope you can enter our challenge for a chance to win £10 to spend at Crafty Ribbons!

Hair that is different

Hello lovely people,

I am running rather late in posting this card for the SC challenge.  You know sometimes you just can't seem to get things to go how you want?  That was me with this card :-(

So, possibly out of frustration with the card, I ended up with quite a plain finish to it but I think it works.  I guess I could add on a sentiment at a later date if needed.  I did really like the double bow though!

I also enjoyed colouring the hair pinky purple even if it's not my best colouring and I added a bit of sparkle to the bottom of the dress and the umbrella although the stuff on the umbrella doesn't show up all that well.

Card recipe;
Image: Let it Rain from Saturated Canary
DP: Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics
Seam binding: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Heart button: made by my sister-in-law
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00 & R30
Hair: RV91/93/95
Dress: B0000/000/91
Apron: E81 & YR30
Boots: E81/84/87 & YR30 & RV69
Umbrella: B0000/000

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Saturated Canary (hair that is different)
2.  Papertake Weekly (anything goes)

Today was clearly not going to be my day as I also missed the delivery of my new craft goodies because I was out with Dr Hubby collecting rather a lot of wood.  He is currently in the garden making a seriously over-engineered but hugely impressive compost bin with 3 bays for compost!  And I will have to wait until Friday for my craft bits to be re-delivered :-(

Anything goes with flowers

Hello lovely people,

Well, this is more like it!  Two days ago I was freezing and now the sun has got his hat on and it makes such a difference :-D

Our theme at Totally Gorjuss this week is 'Anything Goes with Flowers' which seems appropriate as my garden is certainly blooming beautifully at the moment.

I have made a pretty girly card this week with lots of peachy pink tones and of course, those all important flowers.

I guess this is what my Mum would call a 'kitchen sink' card i.e. it has everything on it except the kitchen sink!  But look how pretty all the embellies are...

The image is from Saturated Canary and seems quite simple to colour at first but then you realise there is quite a lot of hair...

Card recipe;
Image: Cerridwen by Saturated Canary
DP: Pion Design - Fairytale of Spring
Label shapes: cut with Cricut
Flowers: from stash (crochet one made by my mother-in-law)
Foliage: Memory Box lavish branch die
Lace: from The Ribbon Girl
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Dress/butterflies: RV42/R20/R30
Skin: E0000/000/00 & R30
Hair: Y11/Y21/E31/E40

For more flower power head on over to Totally Gorjuss to see what my teamies have created and I hope you feel inspired to join our challenge.

Little mermaid

Hello lovely people,

Oh, what a beautiful sunny morning; I hope you have some sunshine where you are too!
I'm glad the weather is not playing along with our theme at Totally Gorjuss this week which is 'Water Water!'
This theme immediately made me think of this gorgeously cute mermaid from Tiddly Inks.

I thought the image would work well on a circular card and I layered up several scraps of paper for the fishtail banner.

I have been a little nervous of attempting the colouring on this stamp but inspired by some fab cards like this amazing card from Yasmine and a wonderful tutorial on YouTube from Kit and Clowder I gave it a go.
And I just had to give her red hair!

Card recipe;
Image: Mermaid Miranda from Tiddly Inks
DP: MME 29th Street Market (quite an old collection!)
Scallop shape: cut with Cricut
Pearls: from The Hobby House
Sentiment: Personal Impressions Big Sentiment stamps

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/01
Hair: R29 + E09/18
Tail: YG000/00/03/17/67
Background: BG0000/000/01

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Cute Card Thursday (dancing queen)
2. Cupcake Craft (lots of layers)

So, now you have seen my card, maybe you would like to pop over to Totally Gorjuss and see what my lovely teamies have made.  If you join in our challenge you have a chance to win the prize from our fab sponsor this week, Heather's Hobbie Haven.

A CAS thank you

Hello lovely people,

Firstly, welcome along to my new followers; I am so happy you decided to follow my little blog :-)

Now, just a really quick post from me to share this little thank you card.  It made a really nice change from the intensive colouring cards I have done recently.  Not a Copic in sight here!  Just one of my favourite things for CAS cards - butterflies!
I have done a little bit of my usual stitching and used some pretty pearls to embellish the butterflies, which were cut with my Cricut.

Card recipe;
DP: random from stash
Pearls: from The Hobby House
Sentiment: Amy R So Wordy stamp set
Border: Martha Stewart border punch

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  As you like it (fave colour combo = pink and green as it is so fresh and pretty)

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,

Ribbons and pearls

Hello lovely people,

Weekend again...how did that happen?!  I have a lovely weekend of family stuff planned  so this is a very quick post from me to share my DT card for Totally Gorjuss.  Our theme this week is 'Ribbons and Pearls' so pretty easy, huh?  We are sponsored by the lovely Milk and Coffee digistamps so I have used one of their sweet images, Fairy Tiffany.
I had a lot of fun colouring this image with my Copics;
Card recipe;
DP: MME Lost & Found 2 Blush
Seam binding: from Crafty Ribbons
Pearls: Kaisercraft

Thanks for visiting and do pop on over to Totally Gorjuss to see what my lovely teamies have created,

Hugs,
Kat xx
