What a weekend!

You know what is a great way to celebrate your anniversary? Attending a good friends wedding! Perk and I had a delightful weekend away celebrating our anniversary and the marriage of our friends. The groom grew up across the street from me and Perk growing up so it was an extra special event. My mom came down to Charleston to keep SS and I think all parties involved had a good time.

Friday night Perk and I dined at Caprice Bistro in Wilmington to celebrate our anniversary a little early. The food was top notch and the service was wonderful. It is in a great spot that was just a short walk from our lodging. Highly recommend the Trio of appetizers. It was my favorite.
We used VRBO and had a wonderful experience. We stayed here, which was as described, clean comfortable and within a few steps of all the wedding festivities. The proprietors were very easy to work with and communicated quickly.

While Perk played golf with the wedding party on Saturday, I went to breakfast at the Dixie Grill with one of my favorite couples, The Paynes. It was delicious. We were desperately in need of food as we stayed up super late on Friday (#wearetoooldforthis) I learned a lot about our friends this weekend. Most interestingly is that Whitney detests bananas, but eats one everyday for the nutrients, and the banana must be green. I found this to be disgusting and told her so. She still loves me. But Bananas seemed to be everywhere this weekend.
Isn't this sign pretty? It was at the reception space for the wedding.  This wedding had the most wonderful food. I wish I had a pic. Sushi, Roast Beef, Shrimp etc. It was fantastic.

Here they are! Mr. and Mrs. Habeeb!

Jewel tones were big for this event. Whitney, Me and Elaine (thanks Elaine I stole this from your insta)
After getting settled in Charleston, Matt took me to lunch on Monday at Minero  to celebrate our 7 year anniversary and it was really delicious. I had the hotdog confit and ham sandwich, which sounds wacky, but it was awesome. We split that and a few tacos. I will be going back!!
So that was our trip. Basically eating our way through town!

Meet the Baileys!

We had a magical weekend celebrating the wedding of our friends Michael and Mary Martha Bailey. Lots of laughing, dancing, drinking and catching up. We don't see these people nearly enough, but when we do it is just wonderful.
The reception was at McCrady's (the wedding was a private ceremony earlier in the day) and was black tie, and I just adore men in black tie. My dress was a Lilly Pulitzer Remmy Dress that I scored during the new year sale.
I just never seemed to get a great pic of the bride. If you know her, you know she is constantly in motion!  Her dress was simply stunning, and had a gorgeous lace bolero that she removed for dancing.
I poached this pic of of instagram of their first dance. I couldn't get a good view!
They had a delightful bourbon bar set up that was amazing. I love bourbon and so does the Groom. It was such a nice touch. This wedding was one of the most elegant that we have ever attended.
Our friend Lauren, one of the bridesmaids and Perk chatting after dinner. We all table hopped after the meal was served and before dancing. It was fun!
We were table 7 and I couldn't help playing with the Waterlogue app!
The Pretty Payne Sisters (you might remember their wedding posts here and here).
2 of my favorite ladies.
Perk and I hit up the Craftsman for an impromptu date night on Sunday after all of our guests had cleared out.We dvr'd the Super Bowl and ended up watching just a few minutes. The restaurant was impressive. Great beer selection, fab service, and the food was delicious. I ordered the General Tso Chicken Wings and Perk got a burger, we went halfsies. We also had the Squid Fries to start which was a delicious take on fried calamari.

I love weddings. We had a wonderful weekend and I can't wait for Sarah Sterling to return from Camp Gigi. Such a good time, but now it is time to get back to the grind!! Hope you had a delightful weekend. How is it February 3???

Gold Standard

What a weekend! I am officially old. Jen and Matthew are married and I am still tired. ON TUESDAY. The weekend was filled with lots of laughing, drinking and dancing.
Their first dance as husband and wife!
The band ATL Groove Factory was a dance machine. Once they started playing everyone was breaking it down. It was a lot of fun!
The delicious cake (the bird confetti is biodegradable!)
I was obsessed with her table settings. Loved her color palette of mixed metallics. It was so different but perfect for a fall wedding
Me with the bride (this was after a freak rain storm, so my hair was responding appropriately to that)
Bailey and Perk at the rehearsal dinner (at Pelican Watch Shelter at Folly Beach)
We have been friends since 5th grade.
The lovely menu. The food was delicious. I am now determined to make grit cakes.
Perk brought Jen all of these oyster shells, which they painted gold, and then added our names in calligraphy as our place cards. I thought it was such a cool local touch.

Cheers to the newest newlyweds! So happy for them!
The wedding coordinator is one I recommend! Ivory Designs did such a good job! If you need an event coordinator in NC or SC give Mary Martha a call. I was really impressed. (She is also a friend!)

Thoughts on Thursday

 *Wild child on a tractor.
*It blows my mind how many new words kids this age pick up. This kid talks up a storm. Her current favorite word is NAKED. (only when you can YELL it at the top of your lungs)
*Tomorrow I get to snuggle a "fresh" baby!! I am excited!

*We have been cooking a lot lately. I blame the influx of magazines hitting my mailbox. Perk grilled wahoo and I made Barefoot Contessa's Green Bean Gremolata and mashed roasted butternut squash. I think butternut squash is my favorite fall flavor.
*I enjoyed reading (and watching the gifs) this article on Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. They have been tapped to host the Golden Globes for the next 2 years.
*How cute is this Tinley Road Dress from Piperlime? Work or play, it is lovely!

*Last night we dined on this awesome pasta recipe of Val So Cal. Anytime prosciutto and asparagus are on sale, I whip this up. It is so easy and delicious.
*I think I need a cream based blush for Fall/Winter. Powder looks a little too FAUX on my pale skin. Maybe one of these to try since it is so inexpensive.
*Double jean jackets. I warned you we were about to get matching in here!
*I love this idea of letting SS paint on a roll of craft paper, and then using it as wrapping paper. How fun!
*I made these Chimichangas last week. Thanks Sara for the recipe.I added another can of chiles and I topped them with salsa verde, and diced tomatoes. They were so good! We had them for lunch all week.
*How cool is this chef concept for Cook it Raw?

*Perk and I have some DIY going on at the house. Painting is happening soon.
*What are you going to be for Halloween?

*How pretty are these sheets? Glamorous.
Have a lovely weekend! Gigi is coming to visit and we have a very special wedding to attend!
Hooray!

Weekend Wedding

*These guys got married. They have been dating since I was in college.
*I got to spend my Saturday laughing, dancing and drinking with these people.

*There was a lot of laughing.
*Perk and I did a lot of drinking.
*Isn't there cake pretty? It was delicious too. (Ashley Bakery)
*The girls. I need to retire my dress. It is too big, and I have worn it about 1000 times.
*As the night progressed there was a lot of talk of smiling. Most noticeably smiling with no teeth showing. I have about 45 pictures of various people smiling this way on my iphone. It was really funny. How do you not show teeth when you smile? Apparently this is much harder for women than men.
*So yeah, I am pretty sure we had a good time!

Cheers to Jeff and Ashley!

Thoughts on Thursday

*Just finished reading Widow Waltz by Sally Koslow. I have read all of her books and this one didn't disappoint. The perfect beach read. Her female characters are relatable. The book takes place in the Hamptons and NYC, and you can tell by the small details that Koslow is quite familiar with the landscape, social hierarchy and style of the areas. I read this book very quickly and would definitely suggest it to friends.

*This is what happens when my child gets a popsicle. You should have seen how tidy the other kids were. It was hilarious.

*I made this slowcooker recipe of Honey Sesame Chicken. It was good however we were out of cornstarch so my sauce was really thin. (my changes: I also added 2 banana peppers, a jalapeno pepper to the crockpot before cooking and added roasted broccoli to the finished dish before serving)

*If you are new to Rue La La use my link to sign up and get $10!! You are welcome.
*Also if you are local, good groupon for Heart Woodfire Kitchen today! It is a yummy brunch spot on JI.

*Bloglovin customer service is unfortunate. I am sorry if you can't comment on my blog right now because of their site. They responded within 8 hours to tell me that I changed my settings and that it wasn't on their end. I have not changed my settings and it is odd that the only issue is if someone is commenting through bloglovin....
*So here is SS looking crazy but rocking her Prodoh shirt! I picked this up at Bald Head Island. I bought up a size so it is a little long on her but it is great!
From the site: Our lightweight moisture wicking design will help keep your child cool, while providing UPF 55+ (highest available) protection from the sun. It includes all the features of Dad’s fishing shirts including a fastener for roll up sleeves and vented back with mesh lining.

*We are hosting an engagement party this weekend and my responsibilities include peach pie, chocolate chip pie, coleslaw and an undetermined appetizer. I just found this peach pie recipe and am thinking of giving it a go. As you all know I am anti cooked fruit so this is a real labor of love.

*Vodka always offers the best advice.

*Speaking of booze, JW made these yummy Basil Mojitos last weekend based on a drink we had last Fall at the Wild Olive. They were delicious and very refreshing.

Happy Thursday!

Currently

Listening...to the new Mumford & Sons CD "Babel". Love it.
Eating...Don't judge, just ate a mini twix. I heart Halloween candy!
Drinking...water.
Wearing.....khaki's, a gray printed sweater, gold jack rogers, bags under my eyes and lots of bronzer in an attempt to look human.
Feeling... Sleepy. I am curious if I will ever feel well rested again. SS was teething pretty hard yesterday. Poor little thing was miserable.Fever, rash, drool, the works. We were up all night.
Weather.....85 and Sunny today!
Needing... a serious dose of caffeine.
Wanting....to not be coming down with a cold, but I feel it is on the horizon. Mr. P is already sick.
Thinking....that SS needs a Halloween costume. Open to suggestions. We have a costume themed birthday party coming up!!
Enjoying....seeing everyone's photos from a wedding I attended this weekend!

Vol & Chain- Wedding Wednesday

Me, J & KAC

Who's a Tennessee fan? The Bride & Groom!!

To say things in Tennessee are orange, would be correct. EVERYTHING IS ORANGE. Please see the funny koozie that were favors!
This is the bride at her rehearsal dinner. I wish I had a full pic of her dress. It was super pretty!
Friends.

The bouquet toss. If you look to the bridesmaids, you will see KAC getting her bouquet on.

Who doesn't love party photobooths? A lot of the props seemed to make way into the reception.

Me and Mr.P at the rehearsal dinner

The candy bar at the rehearsal dinner, the rehearsal was at Calhoun's. YUM. Fun weekend, fun friends and a big ol' time was had by all. I have never seen so many people in one room YELL the words to Rocky Top. To say they were singing would be false. Cheers to the happy couple!!
