Spring Things

Below are some fun finds for Spring! Most are linked to Amazon or Target but I know you can find them locally if the Easter Bunny does not deliver.

 1. This Edible Unicorn Slime would be fun! I don't think I would suggest my kids eat it, but I like the idea that it is not toxic. Also, this bunny tail cotton candy is precious!

2. Native Shoes have gotten the Perkinson Children through many water activities. We have also had success with the Old Navy and Walmart versions of these shoes. A new swimsuit is always fun too! Target has some cute options! See above!

3. Maybe instead of an Easter Basket, there could be an Easter Caboodles? A throwback is always fun and what tween do you know that would not want a tackle box for all of her lipsmackers and scrunchies?

4. This game, "Suspend" is a fun family game. It can be played with 1-4 players. Have I ever told you how much I love a 1 person game so kids can play alone? I gifted this to a few friends for Christmas.

5. The Easter Bunny always brings new toothbrushes to my kids to combat all of the candy! Also fingers crossed that the

What was a must have for your Easter Basket? Growing up we always got candy, and a present and maybe a tiny toy (PEZ, or Bubbles, or Bubble bath were also popular when I was growing up).

Our Easter Egg Hunts always included money! Loose change was our egg filler of choice.

Thoughts on Thursday

*My kids have started doing Cosmic Kids Yoga and they are loving it. It is free on Amazon Prime Video. It is cute and only mildly annoying! Fletch really tries to match SS' moves. It has been fun.

*We let the kids get in the pool yesterday. They had a ball. It is far too cold for me.

*SS had off of school last Friday, so we got crafty. We made tie dye shirts. It has been about 29 years since I did this. It was fun! (We ordered this kit from Amazon and did not use the black)
*This was my favorite.

*I made this Chrissy Teigen stuffed sandwich recipe on Saturday Morning before we had some Easter festivities. It was great because it gets better as it sits. I was worried the kids wouldn't eat it, because it has artichoke hearts and roasted red peppers. However they didn't notice! I was able to come home slice it up and it was ready to go. (This recipe is in Cravings 2)
*These kids are the coolest..
*SS informed me there are 27 days of 1st grade left. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

*Excuse the horrible picture. I made the Pioneer Woman's Recipe for Funeral Potatoes and Matt loved them.

*I am excited about receiving my Amazon Order. This is how lame I have gotten. It is a damp mop system!!

*This week has whizzed by. I hope you have a great day!

Easter Basket Ideas

Below are a few things I would like the Easter Bunny to bring my kids that do not involve candy. Thought I would share my research since I feel like everyone likes to have new ideas!

1. Mary Poppins Returns Blu Ray: SS and I went to the theater to see this, but we both enjoyed it and have discussed needing it for our collection.

2. Watering Can: Fletch has loved helping Matt with the garden this year, but he needs his own size watering can. Watching him drag the adult sized one and spill half of the contents in the process, is quite the lesson in determination.

3. Jump Ropes: With warmer weather here, I think the kids would love these jump ropes. Well SS would. Fletch would probably use his as a weapon...

4. Gigi brought the kids new swim gear but that would be an awesome idea. Pool season is just around the corner. A new beach towel or swim suit would be a great basket addition!

5. This Rope Swing for the Tree House: We have an awesome tree house in the backyard, but I always appreciate a new accessory for it! The kids love playing pretend up there. This could be a fun element to add.

Bunny Bait

1 box Chex Cereal (about 9 cups)
1 cup white chocolate chips
1/4 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
1/4 of Butter
2 cups of confectioners sugar
1 cup pretzels
2 cups Mini Marshmallows
1 bag of Easter M&M's
1/2 a box of Annie's Bunny Graham

Measure the cereal into a large bowl and set aside. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside. In a microwave safe medium bowl, microwave the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter for 1 minute, then stir. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently mix until the cereal is all coated. Transfer the mixture to a 2-gallon ziploc bag and add the confectioner’s sugar. Seal the bag and shake until all the cereal is coated.(SS loved this part!) Spread the cereal out onto the baking sheet to cool. Sprinkle M and M candies, pretzels and mini marshmallows throughout the cereal mix after it has cooled.

Bag or Store in an airtight container.

SS and I made the Bunny Bait above to bag up and give our friends a sweet Easter treat, but truth be told we also ate a lot of it! It was delicious and super easy to whip up.

We also hit up a lovely Egg Hunt at the Charleston Museum last weekend. We met up with some friends and it was a nice day. I was super proud how sweet and generous our little group was with small kids. There was sharing, and helping, and trading galore.

Thoughts on Thursday

*Fletcher and I hit up the Tanger outlets yesterday and I scored some spring deals. They are having awesome spring break/Easter sales. In last weeks paper, they had 4 25% off coupons for Tanger (not valid on clearance). So today's lesson is: always ask if your coupons work. I assumed since most of my purchases were already on sale that I couldn't use them. FALSE. I got an additional 25% off one item at each place! I love deals. I got this skirt from J.Crew Factory for $24 with coupons. I am hoping it makes me not look quite so pale, but we shall see.

*Our local strawberry farm had early berries, so I went and picked a few pounds. SS wanted a pink cake so we made a vanilla cake with a strawberry buttercream icing and it was delicious!

*Fletch is getting more and more alert and smiley! Our basketball game is not until 10pm on Friday. I am going to do my best to watch it.

*Speaking of watching, Matt and I just started Billions. I am intrigued.

*Took SS on a downtown adventure last weekend. We hit up the Little Mermaid Jr. and it was darling. We met our friends and enjoyed our outing. Will definitely be going to their next production! The children's theater did such a good job.

*Matt and I cooked this Filipino Chicken Adobo last night and loved it! I scored chicken thighs for .39/lb and wanted to do something different. So I hit up this cookbook for inspiration and found 3 recipes I wanted to make. I had everything on hand for this one, so it was the winner by default. It took a little longer to cook than a normal weeknight meal, but was so delicious. I had everything prepped for Matt and then he did the cooking while I did baths and fed Fletcher. The sauce was
awesome!

*Who is ready for some Easter Ham?

*I read Winter Stroll by Elin Hildebrand last evening. It was a follow up to Winter Street and it was a cute "where are they now" from the first book, but I will tell you the end did not sit well with me! They left it wide open for a third book, which is nice, but I wanted more of an ending.

*Le sigh.

Have a great Thursday!

Thoughts on Thursday

*This girl had a ball visiting family last weekend at the beach. She is a true waterbaby and could spend all day outside if we let her.

*I just finished  The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year and was thoroughly entertained. I did have to hit the internet for a few google references that went right over my head (I do not watch the housewives). It was funny and frivolous.

*This was the craft that led to the hot pink hands for a few days! Oops. At least it turned out cute.

*I have serious house project to do lists. We still need curtains like whoa and we aren't even going to talk about the spring cleaning that I have neglected.
*SS is rocking these Salt Water Sandals by Hoy Shoe Surfer Sandal (Toddler/Little Kid/Big Kid/Women's). She loves them. We had the silver ones last year, and have moved on to the gold! I go down a size when ordering these for toddlers.

*How delicious does this Champagne Mojito look? Yes please.
*Did you know there is a shopbop sale going on? ha. Yesterday my feed exploded with this news and it made me laugh.
*I worked at the Inn the other night and adored this flower arrangement. How killer is this sterling silver vase? It weighs a ton and while I was refilling it, I was terrified I was going to drop it.

*It is almost the weekend! What are you up to? SS has a jam packed social schedule and she is kindly letting me tag along. Ha.

Thoughts on Thursday

*Last weekend I made Jasmine Rice bowls, with coconut milk brined chicken, bok choy, roasted carrots and broccoli. I used a yum yum sauce and sriracha as a sauce, and finished it with crushed cashews and cilantro. It was such a fun spring dinner! I picked up the broccoli, carrots and bok choy at the Farmers Market.
*I was stoked to see UMBROS on Rue la la today. Too bad they have no women's shorts or it would have been on. I did love a good pair of umbros back in the day. Anybody else?
*SS wore her new spring coat that her friend Jennifer gave her. She loves it and so do I. Jennifer is on to something, because when she gave it to her, she said it looked like something Mommy would wear.Agreed.
*Today is my Friday.
*This Southern Living Blurb cracked me up about Prince George's style being Southern.
*Doesn't this water recipe look refreshing? I am trying to drink 2-3 liters of water a day, and I am on day 5 of no soda. For two weeks I have hit my 2 + liter goal of water intake. I find the more water I drink, the more I want. Flavored water like this would probably also make me drink more.

*The Lost Husband: A Novel by Katherine Center
I read this book in a few days. It was an interesting story about how a woman's life shifts when her husband dies unexpectedly and she and her two children sort of float along, until an old relative swoops back in and completely changes their lives and gives them a new lifestyle compliments of a goat farm. It is a sweet story about healing, and help. I got a little teary at the end. It had some rather comical parts! I don't want you to think it was a total downer.

*If we have leftover Easter Ham, I am so making this Ham, Cheese and Grits Casserole by ButterYum

*Speaking of Easter, my lone Easter decoration this year is a Target Threshold Egg Wreath. I love it. (Only available in stores)

*Remember when I used to be creative and had free time? Yeah. Glory days. This year I bought pre-filled eggs for SS' class. They were on sale at CVS and I had a coupon, so I paid $2.00. DONE.

*How fun is this Mom Said So Bangle by Kate Spade?

You need this. We have finally gotten the hang of pedaling. She loves her tricycle. She has been zooming around our little cul-de-sac a lot lately with the warmer temps. (We wear a helmet. Don't fret)

*How genius is this? Hang a framed copy of your wi-fi password in the guest room? That would be awesome because ours is a million characters long and a total pain. I am doing this.
*If it ever warms up here, I am so making one of these. Simple and refreshing.

*Who is ready for the Easter Bunny besides this girl?
