(Thai Milk Tea - not for the faintsugar hearted ^-^)
In line with my recent Bangkok trip postings, I thought it would be great to introduce one of my fave Thai eateries =)
Ghin Khao first appeared in our sights about 2 years ago, and not much has been written about it... I have tried to compile a list of pictures.. but Surprise, Surprise... Little Miss Perfect, did NOT get a picture of the store front =P
Som Tam with Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab
Thai Flat Rice Noodle with Pork
Stir-fried pork with Chinese Brocolli and Rice
One of their signature dishes (it being featured as a picture on their menu!) - Chiang Mai Noodles (my fave dish there)
Part of their new (As in from Jan 2010) range of dishes, they now have Boat noodles... which comes served in fancy boat like bowls...
Boat Noodle with Mince Pork, Pork Balls and Lime
Boat Noodle with Chicken and Chicken Balls
Boat Noodles with Pork, Blood, Lime and chilli
The Boy, who ordered the above mistakenly (the waiter took the wrong order), would not even let me try this dish and slurp the whole thing up!!! The indignity... apparently it was so tasty... HE WHO Does NOT like odd weird Asian food such as BLOOD... DID NOT let me try...
Goes to show how good it was =)
We've also tried all of their desserts, but I can't find any pictures! Shocking, I know... but I do highly recommend Ghin Khao... it's not one of the cheapest places, but it comes pretty near to authenticity =)
Overall Food Rating: 8.5/10
Restaurant ambiance: 7/10 (It can get very very cramped. They also cater upstairs on the 1st floor, but I have never been up there)
Value for money: 8/10

Sawatdee Bangkok...Dragon Jade @ Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport
Final breakfast in Novotel Bangkok... so I thought I'd try everything else which I hadn't tried before
But I couldn't go pass the Boat noodle for the day which had DUCK in it! I love duck!!
Decided to do unhealthy and healthy at the same time.. by mixing cheese, ham and fruits with a chinese donut (Yao Char Kwai) drizzled a little too excessively with condense milk 0_0
All too soon, we were in our transport vehicle headed to the airport...
The driver had to pick up other passengers from different hotels, and manuevered crazily onto hidden back lanes...
This was a seller selling pancakes by the road side.. a bit like the Malaysian version of Apam Balik... or Apung... however you want to call it.
Back to Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport (BIA - Bangkok International Airport)...
Which had some interesting displays...
And a lot of expensive shops...
Because we were so early, Madam Mummy and I decided to stop somewhere for lunch
And we came across this little cafe on the side...
And what better way to say farewell, then have a final Thai meal... albeit in an airport...
Thai nevertheless...!! Even if the name doesn't sount too Thai-ish =)
I ordered a flat rice noodle with chicken and duck soup (which was very tasty)!
Mum had rice with Thai Chicken and Chilli Basil
For dessert, we ended on a sweet note (very sweet) of Red Gems (Water Chestnut)
The one thing I have to say about the Thai cuisine, is that the Thai's are amazingly addicted to their sugar.. and have an extremely high intake of it... not very healthy, but they add sugar into everything!
But here's my take on Dragon Jade
Overall Food Rating: 6.5/10
Restaurant ambiance: 6.5/10
Value for money: 4/10 (we paid triple the price in here compared to the outside, but it was to be expected, being the Airport)
Address:
Suvarnabhumi Bangkok
International Terminal
Here's also an interesting website to explain why I use "Sawatdee" as a Goodbye/Farewell
So thank you again Thailand for being so beautiful and welcoming. It is very sad what is happening locally at the moment and I pray for it all to be healed, so that more people can once again return safely to the heart of Thailand.

Let's do, Doo Dee Siam! - SOI 4, Siam Square - Bangkok
After a tiring workout =P Shopping and eating at Chatuchak...
Madam Mummy and I returned to our hotel's premises to freshen up and shop and eat some more!!
For dinner, we happened by Doo Dee Siam.. which was on the next block from Som Tam...
It had a pretty decent crowd going.. not packed, but not empty either, so we decided to check it out =)
Madam Mummy still wanted something spicy and soupy... but not Tom Yum... so we went with a Glass Noodle soup dish.. (can't remember what it was called)
And I ordered a minced pork spicy salad dish under their Vietnamese menu (don't ask).
Overall Food Rating: 5.5/10 (Nothing really spectacular and I wouldn't really make an effort to stop by again)
Restaurant ambiance: 5/10 (A lot of sign language going on here as non of the staff spoke English bar one
Value for money: 6/10
Address:
SOI4
Siam Square

The Adventure of Chatuchak Weekend Market and other stories...
The view from our breakfast table at Novotel hotel
More boat noodles... today with added spicy pork ribs =)
A selection of sushi and Miso Soup
Why are we so happy??
Can you tell?? If you are a regular traveller to Bangkok, you will know just by looking at this BTS Signboard
We're going to Chatuchak Weekend Market!!
The market where you can buy anything and find anything... from Household Decor
To food stalls (even classy ones with mini chandeliers!)
We decided to stop here for lunch (one of the many stalls lined on the main intersection)
We were spoilt for choice...
One reason why we stopped here, was because of the many people crowding this stall...
The menu was helped with pictures! Which is always a good thing in a tourist area =)
Started off with a very spicy Tom Yam soup.. but oh so good!
Pad thai with Prawns
Som Tam with Salted Duck Egg! This was really good!
As we left our table, a couple quickly pounced on our seats!
Clothes!
More food!
Puppies!
Isn't he cute? The little fella is getting groomed so people will buy him... I was this close to securing one and smuggling him away in my bag!!!
Dried cuttlefish and other dried foods...
Fried Cempedak (Jackfruit)...
Aromatheraphy products..
A farang looking confused, hot and bothered...
When we got back to the hotel... after 5 hours of steady shopping (intercepted only by lunch and 2 stops for coconut water)... I was drained and extremely happy with my bargain huntings!
At night, we took a walk out to Siam Square again for dinner and was entertained by a live performance which was being telecast over the television!
This is for the lunchtime meal at Chatuchak:
Overall Food Rating: 6/10
Restaurant ambiance: 5/10
Value for money: 8/10 (SOOOOO CHEAP!)
