Simply Papercraft - DT Announcement & Challenge #2

TGIF, my lovely stampers! I'm so happy to be crafting and sharing again! What a great feeling :) It's been a little nutty here this week with my two little guys home from school on spring break, but luckily, I did manage to get in a bit of stamp room time!

But before we get to the card, I have another exciting announcement! I've accepted a position on the Design Team of a new challenge blog called Simply Papercraft. I'm very please to join the wonderful ladies over there! We have bi-weekly theme challenges that post on Fridays, with Top Pick awards and prizes too! Head over and check it out, I think you will enjoy adding them to your challenge rotation.

Speaking of Simply Papercraft, this is a new challenge week! This is Challenge #2, Steampunk. The challenge is being sponsored by Stitchy Bear. You can visit the Simply Papercraft blog for the challenge link up and prize details! I think that those who know we can agree that Steampunk is NOT something that has EVER been in my wheelhouse, although I have seen many fabulous projects made with the theme. That being said though, I have to say I'm very pleased with how this card turned out. What a great image this Goth Prom Queen is for the challenge!

My card uses this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #392, as well as this week's ColourQ #286 color challenge. My two favorite challenge types to play along with!!

TIOT45 - Coffee Break!

(click the photo to enlarge!)

Welcome to this week's Try it out Tuesday from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! This week our challenge is to BUTTON UP, use buttons on your project -- keyword: TIOT45!

I decided to combine this with this week's Copic Colour Challenge 40 - see below for the colors. Just perfect for this new Elisabeth Bell for SCACD image, Latte. Love it! I can just picture, springtime at a little cafe somewhere nice...like Italy. Wishful thinking? Hey, go big or go home!

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers of course. My buttons are from Basic Grey, as is the patterned paper. Unfortunately I don't have any of the AWESOME new glitter buttons from American Crafts that Susana is now stocking, so I had to make do with some Glitter Dots for extra "umph". {Not that I don't still love my Glitter Dots, but have you SEEN the American Crafts buttons??}. The ribbon and pink spiral clip are from my stash.

I hope you are inspired to grab your buttons and play along with us this week! I can always go for some well-placed buttons; and they have been neglected in my stamp room lately. So thanks to Suzanne for the challenge! That's it for me today, I'll see you tomorrow though, thanks for stopping by!

TIOT43 - Scene It!

(click the photo to enlarge!)

Welcome to this week's Try it out Tuesday from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! This week our challenge is to create a SCENE using one of the new Victoria Case Winter Wonderland images -- keyword: TIOT43!

I thought about this challenge for quite a while, and in the end I decided to make a diorama card. Love these! They are so cool to look at and fairly easy to make. I used several images from the latest exclusive stamp collection from the SCACD store called Victoria Case for SCACD - Winter Wonderland. Loving these sweet winter images! I used Skater for my main image, and since she's out enjoying herself on the lovely winter day, I added a light snowfall on the front acetate sheet as well using silver ink. The snowflakes are only available if you purchase the full sheet of stamps, but remember, Susana offers a HUGE discount for doing that, 25% off!

The main image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers, then cut out tight to the image. To make the background of my scene, I embossed the Cuttlebug snowy village onto white cardstock and added some color to parts of the image with my Copics. I also added some tint to the pond she's skating on before painting with Winter Frost Inspirations Paint. Glittery snow went onto the rooftops using my Quickie Glue Pen.

I popped up the skater so she sits in between the acetate window in the front and the village in the back. Added a little winter holiday sentiment and a bit of bling and she is all set! Be sure to check out the SCACD store blog today for more scenic inspiration, and while you are there, enter to win the fabulous ELISABETH BELL blog candy that Susana has up now! NEW STAMPS will be released on Thursday November 12th -- it's going to be a good day!

That's it for me today, I'll see you tomorrow though, thanks for stopping by!

Victoria Case Stamps Challenge #24

Happy Thursday to you all in blog land! Hope everyone is having a good week!

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I am a Guest Designer for Victoria Case Stamps for November. She just had a "fairy" sweet digi release yesterday, if you missed those go check them out! There is inspiration on the Victoria Case Stamps blog for those new images too.

Ok, so for Victoria, Thursday is challenge day! You can check out the Victoria Case Stamps Challenge Blog for all the nitty gritty challenge details.

This week's challenge is of the color variety - Forest Green, Cranberry and Ivory. Sooo pretty! It made me think Christmas (of course; it's that time of year right?!) so I printed off this sweet little digi snowman and colored him up with Copics. I went with a simple layout here, some pretty patterned paper to accent the color combo and these cute sentiment pieces from one of the Dress It Up buttons collections. Perfect for that Christmas frame of mind!

Thanks for stopping by today -- have a good one!

Anya's Fashion Show

Do you not LOVE Anya?! She's from The Greeting Farm, a fairly new discovery for me but definitely love at first sight! She is seriously cute, and there is also a sweet little boy, Ian {you know I love the boy stuffs}, and really adorable animals, yummy treats and beautiful quotes. I can't build my collection fast enough!

So...the card. Well, Marie over on The Greeting Farm's blog had a contest for the Anya Fashion Show. Very easy, just use any Anya image you want and glam her up. GLAM?!?! I can do glam!

Since it was the long-awaited girl's {Scrapmania at Archiver's} night out on Saturday, I had this project tops on my list! Heather, Jess and I had SO much fun stamping and chatting - it was fabulous! If you've never been to a Scrapmania event, I highly recommend it. It's kind of a pain to pack for, but so much fun when you're there!

I took about 50 photos of this card trying to get it just right to show all the details. These were the best two that I came up with in the end -- EVERYTHING was bling'd, even the paper, so it was kinda tough. I'll give a quick rundown and hopefully the zoomed in shot can show some of it fairly well.

This card was SO MUCH FUN to make. I think I can honestly say it was the most fun I've ever had making a card. I started by stamping this sweet "Pretty Hat Anya" with Palette Noir and coloring with my Copics. I had printed off a bunch of sketch ideas and as soon as I saw Mojo46 I knew that was "the one"! I cut her out using the Cuttlebug and my circle Nestabilities. The silver glittered paper is Die Cuts With A View from the glitter mat stack.

Here's the close-up view:

Once I had the layout chosen and all the die cuts made, the fun began! I saw the large "diamond, onyx and amethyst" gem setting from Prima's Say it with Crystals that Heather had with her and I knew I had to use it. I put it onto the end of Anya's existing necklace and filled in the rest of the stones with clear rhinestones. Puppy got a matching jewel-encrusted collar. Stylin'!

Her hat --- can words even express how much I LOVE it?! I found this organdy and pearl flower in the stash, which was PERFECT, but it was still missing something. I got some great feathers over at Michael's {yes, I had to run out in the middle of Scrapmania at Archiver's to go to MICHAEL'S to get feathers! too funny, right?}.

What good is a gorgeous feather hat without a pearl-studded tulle veil?? Oh yes. I added a pearl-studded tulle veil. Come on! You know I had to. *g* She is a classic movie star!

At the end I went back and gave her a touch of blush and some light purple eyeshadow, just for fun. :) Oh, and here we are about halfway through Mania on Saturday night -- just don't look at me very closely b/c I look kinda funny. Jess and Heather look good though so I will post it. ;)

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed Anya's walk down the runway. Wish me luck!

Twinkling Tuesday #2

Happy Tuesday! Well, today is the OFFICIAL start of Madelynn's Twinkling Tuesday sketch challenge! How fun is this?? Madelynn is the 8 year old DD of my friend Jessica and she's got some great layout ideas! To learn more about the challenge, be sure to visit Jessica's blog. Here is the sketch {oh to be that talented at age 8, she's got some great ideas!}:

And here is my card. My image is from Pink Poison. Could that little Anya BE cuter?? Dawn stamped me a few images to play around with and sent 'em over, THANKS Dawn!! {I guess the shop is going to be called The Greeting Farm starting January 1st, just in case there was any confusion}.

Be sure to visit the rest of the Twinkle Team {links on my left sidebar} for more inspiring projects, and of course Jessica's blog to see all the creations in one spot. Don't forget to leave everyone some comment love! If you upload to Splitcoast or Papercraft Planet, use the keyword "MTTSC2" so we can see everything with one easy search!

I also took an angled shot since I added Shimmerz all over her and you can't see it in the first photo at ALL. The card was easy to make {once I stopped screwing up the measurements on cutting, LOL}, I colored my pre-stamped Anya with Copics and added the Shimmerz. The pink ribbon already matched and I colored the wider grosgrain with Copics too {it started out white}. The sentiment is from Stamping Bella.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone is more ready for Christmas than we are! It really snuck up on me this year. :-)

Limelight Sketch Challenge and Shimmerz Newz!

Happy Sunday! I can't believe the long holiday weekend is almost over. The time just flies! We had a good one here, got a lot done around the house but still had time for family and fun {and even some stamping!}. Sorry for the not-so-great photo, we are having a very overcast and snowy day here today so not a lot of luck taking good pictures. If you click it you'll get the larger version which should show a little more detail.

I made this card for the Limelight Papercratfs challenge for this weekend - it's a Six Chicks sketch challenge! Here's the sketch {LLPC009}:

You were also supposed to use some black products in honor of Black Friday. I DESPERATELY want some of the Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock, but I haven't gotten any yet {haven't done the Christmas shopping for myself yet, LOL!}. So I just used plain ole' black cardstock, black ink, and actually it's hard {very hard!} to see from this photo but the long skinny panel underneath is actually black cardstock that I did the Opalite Smoosh technique from Technique Junkies on using Green, Silver and Rose colored Opalite inks. That's where I pulled the color combo from, but unfortunately I ended up covering most of that panel up! It is really pretty and shimmery in real life though.

All of my stamps are from Prickley Pear. I just love this sentiment. Every time I see it it makes me giggle. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the holidays and we are making sure to have some of our family traditions passed down for our boys, etc., but it's still funny! After my DH saw this card, he proclaimed it to be the "anti-Christmas card". heehee. Well, he should know...

After I stamped the ornaments I painted them with Pink Poinsettia Shimmerz Blingz and Silver Bells Shimmerz. Did you know you can now buy Shimmerz directly from Shimmerz? Never a color out of stock! They are having a Grand Opening/Black Friday sale too - it's a heck of a deal. Check it out.

Supplies, etc.: Stamps from Prickley Pear. Palette Noir and New Canvas ink. Sage Shadow, Brushed Silver, GP 110# White, Basic Black and Rose Red cardstock. Pink Poinsettia Shimmerz Blingz and Silver Bells Shimmerz, silver cord {retired from SU}, dimensionals, Opalite reinkers for Opalite Smoosh background piece.

Skiing Snowman With Extra Shimmerz!

HELLLOOOOOO....helloooo....{echo...echo...} LOL! Well hopefully it hasn't been *that* long that all my readers have completely abandoned me. heehee. I know I get the bad blogger award - and the sad part is I have so much to share. I just haven't been at the computer much lately to actually type up the posts! Sheesh!

But I'm here now so I'd better get to it! What do you think of this little snowman -- do you not loveeeeyyyyy him!? He's from Prickley Pear and I think he's just darling. The sentiment is from PPRS too. I made this card while we were down in FL, hence the super-bright glitter-n-Shimmerz portion of the photo. But hey, if that's my biggest complaint...

This was for CC186 over at Splitcoast {done while it was current even!} - Chocolate Chip, Really Rust and Baja Breeze. Since I wasn't at home I didn't have any Baja, but I did have Sage Shadow so I used that. Stamped the image, colored with markers, added Dazzling Diamonds glitter and Shimmerz Paints {Angel Wings}. Have I mentioned that Shimmerz Paints are my new most favorite thing(s)? I use 'em on almost every project now! It adds soooo much sparkle with so little effort; which I am allllll about. Added white gel pen snow on the treetops & some marker highlights at the end there, and I think it turned out pretty well {IIDSSM, right?}. Be back tomorrow {I hope} with more goodies - so have a great night!

The Ten-Minute Pirate Ship

Here's a super fast and easy card - it actually took 10 minutes to make!! Of course, that's because (notice the similarities to the post below) I had colored and matted this ship for the previous card, only to find it was WAY too big to look good on that card. SO, I continued with that one but saved this image to make another card. Ha! So the 10 minutes doesn't include the main image (which is, of course, the only way I got it done in 10 minutes!).

The colors are the same as the previous card too. Kraft cardstock for the Verve September Project Parade - Natural Fiber Challenge. Still loving getting reacquainted with Kraft! Also this week's Color Throwdown using Olive, Kraft and Red (CTD12). The card is 4-1/4" square.

Supplies, etc.: Stamps - Pirate Ship and Adventure Words from JessicaLynnOriginal.com, plus an A*Muse oval. Paper - Red, Kraft, Olive, GP 110# white. Ink - Palette Noir. Other - Copics, dimensionals, black and olive grosgrain ribbon from SU, Cuttlebug and ribbon tag nestabilities.

Aaarrhhh! A Shimmerzy Pirate Cupcake!

Ahoy Matey!! Here's a fun Friday card featuring my adorable new pirate images from Jessica Lynn Original. I really like these because they LOOK piratey - not all cutesey'd up like some I've seen lately, YKWIM? Anyway, they were perfect for several challenges when I sat down to stamp today ~ love it when a plan comes together!! But what the heck am I talking about cupcakes for?? I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge for the sketch (TECC35) even though I am aware that pirate ships are not cupcakes, heehee.

I wanted to use Kraft today for the Verve September Project Parade - Natural Fiber Challenge. I was thrilled to see this one because I LOVE Kraft! I haven't used it in awhile though, now that I think about it, so this was a fabulous push in the right direction. Since I wanted Kraft in there anyway, I went with the colors from this week's Color Throwdown of Olive, Kraft and Red (CTD12). Nice! They were probably thinking Christmas but hey, pirates work too!

This is a pretty straightforward card. I cut all the cardstock to size, then ran the red layer through my Cuttlebug with the Skull Scroll folder. Then I covered the whole thing with Angel Dust Shimmerz to give it some more depth. After I stamped the skull images I painted over them with Coal Shimmerz. Go Shimmerz! I colored the ship with Copics and layered it on. Lots of dimensionals here as usual, I need a place to buy those babies in BULK. May Arts ribbon finishes it off, and the sentiment is from another Jessica Lynn Original set (Adventure), punched out with the Word Window punch.

Supplies, etc.: Stamps - JessicaLynnOriginal.com. Paper - Red, Kraft, Olive, GP 110# white. Ink - Palette Noir. Other - Cuttlebug and Skull Swirl folder, dimensionals, Copic markers, scissors, red glaze pen, Angel Wings and Coal Shimmerz, Word Window punch, 1/16" circle punch, May Arts ribbon, paint brush, craft knife.

Penguin Cutie from JLO

Sketch challenges are among my favorite stamping challenges to participate in. I think because I have a lot of stamping "stuff", plus so many ideas, it's hard to make decisions, and especially hard to get started. At least for me. Some days I go down to create and get so overwhelmed I just end up doing something else instead. The horror!!

Anyway, after having some fun playing around with the Verve September OSW template with a fall theme, I decided I had to make some more. This little penguin is from the new "Save the Ocean" set by Jessica Lynn Original. What a fun set - lots of ADORABLE animals just begging to be colored!

I know that penguins and flowers don't usually go together, but I loved the colors of this paper and they work well for the image itself, so c'est la vie! At the zoo here in town, the penguin exhibit has flowering bushes around it, so...

TIP: It's EASY make custom-colored Dew Drops to fit your project! Simply punch a 1/4" circle of your desired cardstock and put it on top of a mini glue dot right on the roll. Then, take the whole roll of paper, lift it up and "smoosh" it back on top of the paper so that your little 1/4" circle is sandwiched between two mini glue dots and is still on the wax paper roll. Then add your Dew Drop (um, cheap Michael's thingies from the floral section, in my case) to the top glue dot. The paper shows right through and makes the whole Dew Drop look like it's that color. I explained it this way because I found with the little circle dots it's easier to add the Dew Drop to the paper than add the paper to the Dew Drop.

Supplies, etc. Stamps - Save the Ocean from Jessica Lynn Original, A*Muse Oval. Paper - Bordering Blue, Kiwi Kiss, GP 110# white and gray, unknown patterned paper. Ink - Palette Noir, Bordering Blue. Other - 1/4" circle punch, mini glue dots, dimensionals, silver organdy, French Blue grosgrain, slot punch, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Quickie Glue Pen, black Glaze pen, orange Glaze pen.

The Cutest Lil' Dracula Evah!

Don't you think? Oh he's so much fun - another new fall stamp from Jessica Lynn Original. This is the layout for Card #2 from the Verve OSW challenge.

I know this card looks kind of plain; you can't see it in the photo but I went over all the raised parts of the Cuttlebug'd web with my clear Spica Glitter pen, so it has a lot of sparkle IRL. I colored the little vamp with markers, masked him off and stamped the A*Muse Oval underneath him. The pumpkin charm is from a Halloween Dress It Up package of buttons, I cut the button part off with my craft knife and attached it with a glue dot.

Supplies, etc.: Stamps - Jessica Lynn Original plus an A*Muse oval. Paper - Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip c/s from SU, GP 110# white, patterned paper - unknown. Ink - Palette Burnt Umber. Other - White gel pen, Cuttlebug and Web folder, Dress It Up pumpkin button, glue dots, craft knife, Clear Spica Glitter pen, chocolate chip marker, Copic and SU markers, dimensionals.

Candy Corn from Jessica Lynn

Here's another card from the first set of cards I made with the Verve Stamps OSW template. Normally I'm not a OSW kind of girl, but I had a lot of new stamps to play with so I thought I'd try it out. This uses the pieces for Card 1.

The stamps are from Jessica Lynn Original, this is a new release set for September - very cute! It's called "Trio of Halloween Goodies". Also, don't forget about the JLO Games, you could win one of three gift certificates to the online shop by signing up and playing!

Supplies, etc.: Stamps - Jessica Lynn Original. Paper - Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip c/s from SU, GP 110# white, patterned paper - unknown. Ink - Palette Burnt Umber. Other - White gel pen, piercing tool, template, copics, prismacolor pencils and gamsol, dimensionals.

New From Jessica Lynn Original & SCTL5

What is it about BEARS? I swear I don't know, but I just *love* 'em! This image is no exception, isn't he CUTE cute? He's from the new "Save the Ocean" set by Jessica Lynn Original. What a fun set - I was looking at the online shop during her Labor Day sale and wanted this one...then it came in the mail as one of my DT sets - woo hoo!! I had to play with it right away.

This card features the current challenge from the Stamping Links to Love blog - this week it is a ROCKIN' sketch from Allison. There are still a couple of days to play along so get stamping! If you upload to SCS, include the keyword "SCTL5" so we can see all the entries. If your project is a winner, you'll be featured on the Stamping Links to Love blog with your project and a link back to your blog - instant fame! Here's the sketch if you're interested in seeing how close I stuck to it (I did good this time!).

Supplies, etc.: Stamps - Save the Ocean from Jessica Lynn Original and Make a Wish from Stamping Bella. Paper - Baja Breeze, Soft Sky and Brushed Silver cardstock from SU, GP 110# smooth white c/s, flocked shimmery patterned paper. Ink - Palette Noir. Other - Ribbon from Xyron (matched a scrapbook kit I bought awhile back), ribbon slides from the silver hodgepodge kit, dimensionals, Cuttlebug and Snow Dots folder, Word Window, Designer Label, 1-1/8" and 1" circle punches, light blue Prismacolor pencil, Gamsol, blending stumps.

A Heavy Metal Challenge Card

Do you know what I love? RED! Without the foiled paper layer, this card is just plain boring. I cut the panel to size then ran it through my Cuttlebug with the swirly vine patterned folder (from the new release, can't remember the name of it).

The images are from Prickley Pear - I've been eyeing this particular butterfly for awhile and finally got it inky! I colored the image with Copic markers and added some Clear Spica glitter pen and red glitter *strategically* over the top of some parts for sparkle, which you can't see in the photo unless you click on it for the Giganormous version. Drawback to shiny red paper....hard to photograph, even with no flash, infinity board and bright-yet-indirect lighting. Sheesh!

This is my entry for the Y.ou K.now Y.ou R.ock challenge this month - Heavy Metal. Foil paper is metal too, I say!

A Mojo Note

For once, the note isn't telling you that my mojo is MIA! Nope, it's a "Just a Note" card featuring another one from the Queen of Sketches - Julee Tilman's Mojo49. And just for fun, because it didn't seem "done" when I was done (where oh where is my Allegro Cuttlebug folder, that's what I'd like to know), I added the line of clear rhinestones 'specially for Zarna and her Bling It On! Challenge over on Stamping Links to Love - have you gotten your bling on yet? You have until Thursday, August 28th to play, you can bet I'll have more cards for this challenge before it's over.

All stamps are from the
Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps latest release. Aren't they fantabulous? Check back next week for some cards using images from the birds sheet (LOVE these), plus some from the prior release - think flowers and Harleys (not, you know, TOGETHER though, LOL).

What I used to make it: Stamps from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps. Paper: Night of Navy and Kiwi Kiss cardstock, GP 110# white, So Saffron prints DSP. Ink: Old Olive (no Kiwi Kiss available), Night of Navy classic inks. Other: Cuttlebug, Nestabilities long rectangle dies, SU scallop circle punch, 1-1/2" and 1-3/8" circle punches, sponges, Navy Glaze Pen, Hero Arts rhinestone line, tons of dimensionals.
