A few more pictures

My awesome friend Wendi Lee took some pictures of us. One of them is over there on the right side. Here are a few more...

The story

Here we have asleep: And here we have awake! Alright, for any of you out there who like to read about women's birthing stories, you may continue reading. For any who don't....you should probably leave this page now. Wednesday, August 14th: Had my 38 week appointment. The RN very casually asked "Would you like me to strip your membranes?" After having her explain exactly what that meant and what it would do, and after her making sure I had nowhere to be that night, we decided in the affirmative. Later on in the evening I was getting fairly crampy. I was trying to decide if labor was actually starting or not. It was hard to tell. For about an hour I had consistent contractions about 10 minutes apart, and then they'd slow down to half an hour or more....Very irregular. We went to bed. I slept okay, but I could feel crampiness most of the night. I wouldn't call it labor though. Maybe pre-labor? Thursday, August 15th: 6:00 am: I wok

New Addition

He's here! Born 2 weeks early, just like I wanted. Maybe sometime later I will post more about the birth story. But now, I think I will take a nap.

Me at 36 weeks.

I know I shouldn't actually count on this or hope for this, but I really do hope I actually have less than four weeks left instead of all four. Two sounds about right. Let's all vote for two more!

Fireworks from the Fourth

Last night I got to try my hand at low-light photography, and what better thing to try it on than a fireworks show! After I picked out my favorites, I still had 24, which seems too many to put on here. So I tried to whittle it down further, and got these 6. And the best part is, I didn't have to leave my front porch to get these!

Pictures are too fun

Awe the joys of having a tripod, and a remote. If you couldn't tell up until this point, we've been really enjoying taking pictures and learning to get better and better. So we went on about a 10 minute photo shoot today, of ourselves. I love them!

28 and counting

We go on walks for my benefit about every other day. Yesterday we brought a camera with us to see if we could get any good shots. I think these ones turned out pretty well. And by the way, this is 28 weeks for me. ..And I guess for Jarom too, though he hides his weight much better than me. It's getting harder to lean forward while I'm sitting on the couch now. There's too much junk in the way! And besides one week of back pain, I'm still feeling good. I'm in the home stretch, 3rd trimester already!

Are We THAT Unusual?

Today after church we had choir. During choir, an older man was sitting next to Jarom. I was on the opposite side, sitting by no one because I'm at the piano.  This man casually asked Jarom if he and I were courting......or if we were married. We have lived here for 4 and a half years. We have been married that entire time. He has never known us as not married. He has talked to both me and Jarom on different occasions, it's not like we've never spoken before. Not to mention I'm six months pregnant. When Jarom told me this story, I just couldn't wrap my head around why in the world he would ask that. Then Jarom expounded and said this man commented that we act more like a courting couple when we sit in church than a married couple. We hold hands. We don't make out, lay all over each other, become permanently entwined so that there is no difference between him and me...... We hold hands. Apparently, once you get married you stop holding hands. Well

25 Weeks

Man I'm looking pregnant! Everything is going well. He's moving around quite a bit these days. And I get the occasional charlie horse at night which is less than fun, but I can't complain. Overall, I'm enjoying this pregnancy thing!

Odd pregnancy observations

Some things I have observed and learned since being pregnant: Measuring how far along you are in your pregnancy is similar to measuring a child's age. When you ask a child how old they are, the response is often 5 and a half. Or 3 and a half. If you say "Oh really? You're THREE?!??" They'll say "NO! Three AND A HALF!" That half part is very important to them. Well excuse me, I am not 18 weeks pregnant, I am 18 and  A HALF weeks pregnant. That half week makes a huge difference to me and my baby's development so you better accept and acknowledge that for yourself as well. Along those same lines. Measuring how far along you are in pregnancy makes absolutely no sense. Everyone knows that women are pregnant for 9 months. Or 40 weeks. Unfortunately our calendar is not based on women's cycles, so one month does not exactly equal 4 weeks. So usually I would think oh, I'm 8 weeks so I must be 2 months. But could 2 months not come around until 9

16 weeks

Since Jarom officially informed me that I am showing, I had him take a couple pictures.

Is a Self-Diagnosis Ever Correct?

The other day at work I was walking through the halls at lunch time, doing my usual lunch-monitoring to make sure no "sneaky" students were getting away with something they shouldn't be. I came across a girl who was dressed like she was outside. She had her big winter coat on and a big fluffy beanie. Well unfortunately, our school has a dress code that includes no hats being allowed. So I approached her to ask her to take off her hat. Our conversation unfolded thusly: Me: Could you take your hat off please? Her: I have hypothermia. Me:..............(thinking, not really sure where to go from this point, what do you say to someone who thinks they have hypothermia?) Um...you have hypothermia? Her: Yeah. I always have to wear a coat and hat. Me: Um....Why would you be walking around school perfectly healthy-like and not at home or you know....the hospital!?!? Recovering??? Her: I'm just always really cold so I have to wear a hat all the time. Me: So what di

The Recap and Response to First Trimester Goodness

For anyone who reads this and is not on Facebook or has not otherwise heard...we are having a baby! Due to arrive August 27th. With that vital piece of information aquired, you may now hear a little bit about my first trimester. I eat more often than I used to, though sometimes a lot slower. I drink water constantly, which then leads to bathroom visits...constantly. I went through a period of about a month where I took a nap everday. I liked that. I like naps. I have gained two pounds. And, one morning while I was heading to work, I threw up. It came out of nowhere and then I felt perfectly normal afterwards. That's been the extent of my "morning sickness." Now that I have told most people my news, I have noticed a common thread to most people's reactions. First: Their voice goes higher as they squeal in delight and usher a congratulations of some sort. Second: About half will then ask when I am due/how far along I am. Third: About 95% will then ask

Chocolate Cupcakes

We had the opportunity to be taught how to make some amazing chocolates by a friend in our ward. I was very impressed with how professional they turned out. These are two types, salted caramels and lemon fondants. Very yummy. Also, since it was my birthday recently, I got these cupcake socks from Young Womens'. The socks are so soft and warm, and I loved how they are like cupcakes.

The World of Utah

I have lived in Utah for 8 years now. That's a pretty long time, and most of the time I think I've gotten this whole Utah thing figured out. I know all there is to know about living here. But then something like this happens. I am talking with my coworkers who are both born and raised Utahn's, not just mere 8-year Utahn's. One of them starts talking about a "potgut." Me: "I'm sorry, What did you just say?" Coworker A: "A PotGut!" Me: ".....um.....what in the world is that?" Coworker A turns to Coworker B for help. Coworker B: "Well I know what they are but I don't know what else they're called!" We all stare at each other for awhile. We feel like we're speaking a different language and cannot communicate with one another. Coworker B: "It's a little animal that digs holes in the ground?" Any guesses? Anyone who is NOT a Utahn? I googled it and found a story similar to mine
