May 2020 12 Kits of Occasions

This month at the 12 Kits of Occasions Blog, Marcia Hill was our hostess and she sent the most adorable kit entitled “April Showers Bring May Flowers!” She challenged us to make our blogs bloom with life and flowers and COLOR!

First, my eyes went right to this adorable Stampingbella “Bundle Girl with a Snowdrop” and the amazing gingham paper!

I colored her with Zig Clean Color and Tombow markers and added a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s “Hello Friend” set.

I added lots of Stickles and Wink of Stella Stardust pen details, because she reminded me of a sweet little garden fairy! Oh, and some Glossy Accents to her blue galoshes!

Next up is this gorgeous patterned paper with the beautiful tulip bouquet in a Mason jar! It is from a set called “Mandy’s Flowers” by Simon Says Stamp. Again I colored with Zig and Tombow markers. I added a mini paper bow from Mama Elephant, one of the “Simple Little Tags” from Memory Box and a sentiment from WPlus9 Studio.

Last up is this gorgeous silver embossed floral image that Marcia sent. It is called “First Blush” by Penny Black...

I colored the image with Copic markers then cut it out with this “HBD” birthday die from The Stamp Market. I added a Memory Box Branch die cut and a little birdie from a past kit that I colored with Copics, too.

I added lots of Nuvo Glitter Paste in “Moonstone” on the flowers and the bird, and embossed PTI’s Hawaiian Shores” cardstock with Stampin Up’s “Subtle” 3D embossing folder.

Thank you SO much to Marcia for sharing these gorgeous papers, die cuts, and florals with us this month! Made my heart so happy sitting in my crafting room in the sunshine! Thanks to all for stopping by today! ❤️

Messy Monkey Sketch

A fun sketch by Jacquie at Freshly Made Sketches that has endless possibilities!

I used Reverse Confetti’s adorable new “Crafty Critters” stamps and Confetti Cuts for my card...

I colored this funny monkey and his crafty supplies with Zig Clean Color and Tombow markers and a wet paintbrush. The splatters were made with stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps and WPlus9 Studio that I had in my stash.

Added some white Nuvo Drop “glue” and some Sakura Stardust pen accents, and  Stickles here and there, because really...what monkey would leave out glitter when crafting?! Such a fun card to make this snowy Monday. Thanks for stopping by!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 14

On Day 14 there was lots of sweetness at Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags with Paper Sweeties. I was inspired by the cute mug tag by Debbie Marcinkiewicz...

I used WPlus9 Studio's "Cookies & Cocoa." I stamped my mug then speckled it with white acrylic paint to mimic Stoneware. Love the little three dimensional cookies included in the set!  Dusted them with sugary glitter and used patterned paper from October Afternoon for the background. Thanks for stopping by!

Colors Sketch

A cool sketch by Jen Mitchell for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge!  I loved all of the elements at the top of the card, a fun new way for me to create!

I used The Stamp Market's "Color Me Happy" set, and PTI's and WPlus9 Studio's watercolor "splatter" stamp sets for my card...

I was inspired by Amy Yingling's card, The Stamp Market's creator, seen on Instagram (having trouble linking, just click on her name, then the Instagram logo at the top of the store's website)!

I inked the different paint splotch images with Tim Holtz Distress inks, then misted them with water before stamping against the watercolor paper. When dry, I added bits of sparkle with a Wink of Stella brush.

I stamped and die cut the palette and brush, then fancied them up with Kuretake Zig Clean Color Markers, Nuvo Glitter Paste, and Glossy Accents. Stacked two tiny hearts cut from the watercolor paper. The sentiment is also from the Color Me Happy set, and stamped in VersaFine black ink.

This little set is so much fun!

Purple

For the Simon Says Stamp Blog Wednesday Challenge, you were to use black, white, and one other color on your card. I chose purple!

I used Concord and 9th's Sophisticated Script and Plaid Background stamps, then WPlus9 Studio's Fresh Cut Florals.

This card took me forever because I kept smudging black everywhere, and it's really hard to use only one color 😄!

Blessings

Playing along with two challenges today, The Color Throwdown had some lovely sunshine colors this week...yellow, green, white, and black...

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge was to use something new...so I chose this beautiful Folk Dance die that I ordered from Simon Says Stamp over the school break :)

I needed a wedding card for the weekend, and used yellow and green patterned paper for my leaves and flowers.  The sentiment was created with Concord & 9th's Sophisticated Script set and asmaller sentiment from WPlus9, heat-embossed in white on vellum.

I had used black cardstock for the flower centers and dots, but I wanted a bit of shine... so I (crazily) used black Nuvo Drops instead of Glossy Accents over the black paper! Of course every little mistake showed up 10 fold on the white. I added the vellum to cover a small smear 😣.

But I'm sure the happy couple won't peek underneath, so all is well that ends well! 😃

Inspired by Debby's Cups

Debby Hughes posted a wonderful video on her blog Limedoodle Design HERE using the WPlus9 Studio stamp set "Cookies and Cocoa."  Debby's coloring techniques are a-ma-zing and I was inspired to try watercoloring with gouache (except I had to use watered-down white acrylic paint) after seeing her awesome card!

I forgot to add marshmallows and my cups turned out much brighter than I had planned, but still pretty! My watercolors were actually Zig Clean Color markers, colored on an acrylic block, then picked up with a small brush.

Debby's video was so easy to follow and I promptly went and bought gouache ( which I pronounced wrong at Michael's 😅) so I could try this again the right way...and with marshmallows!😉

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 1 Inspiration

Went back to Tracey's Day 1 of tag inspiration when she featured Simon Says Stamp! I loved
Debby Yates' adorable wreath and red polka-dotted tag top!

I chose WPlus9's Woodland Wreaths set and made a set of red polka dots at the top of my tag with PTI's Polka Dot Basics.

Glossed up the berries with red Nuvo drops and had to include that adorable partridge from the set. I'm pretty sure they are not red in real life, but I couldn't resist! 😉

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 11 Inspiration

Tracey had Winnie Walter as a sponsor for Day 11 of her 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  I chose the lovely floral tag from Shay. I was inspired by the dark brown woodgrain, colors, and the flowers.

I used WPlus 9 Studio's Be Merry & Be Merry Florals stamps and dies for my tag, with some embossing on the sentiment and a few Nuvo Drops and sparkly sequins!

Shay's colors are fresh and fun for Christmas!

Tracey McNeeley's 25 Days of Tags-Day 9 Inspiration

Today is my first day to play along with Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags!  She has oodles of wonderful sponsors and prizes...and the best part? Loads of inspiration from Tracey and so many guests and designers!

My first tag is for Tracey's Day 9, sponsored by Pink & Main. I chose Kathy Schweinfurth's tag for inspiration, with its sweet treats, paper bow, and gingham "tablecloth," so sweet!

I used WPlus9's adorable new Cookies and Cocoa stamp and die set. Love how those cookies look three dimensional, and the mug has a slot for marshmallows!
