Pool Party Throwdown

This week at the Color Throwdown challenge blog, Broni is our hostess with the sweetest mix of summer colors…pink, aqua, yellow, and lime!

I took these colors to the pool with Papertrey Ink’s “Floating By” stamps and dies!

I also used Papertrey Ink’s “Pool Water” stencils to make the background by inking over the top with aqua inks, then spraying some aqua glimmer mist over the top. Some fun bubble embellishments and lovely flowers and leaves from The Stamp Market’s “Tropical Vibes” set to complete my sunny party!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please join us at the Color Throwdown blog to upload your creation for a chance to be our randomly-selected Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge!

Pink Meadow Throwdown

This week at the  Color Throwdown Challenge Blog is a lovely color combination from Amy Rohl…pink, kraft, gray, and white!

With such a soft and warm palette, I chose to make a get well card with The Greetery’s “Spring Meadow” stencils!

Made the “Take Care” sentiment with The Greetery’s Slim Alphabet dies and added a sentiment strip stamped with Papertrey Ink’s “Ways to Say: Get Well.”A few more blossoms cut with the coordinating “Spring Meadow” dies were the perfect finishing touches for this serene background!

Visit the Color Throwdown blog to play along with us this week, and a randomly-selected player will get the chance to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge!

Fireworks

At the Library Craft Challenge blog this week, the cover art from”The Moon Spinners” by Mary Stewart, is perfect for a summer design!...

My mind went right to Conesus Lake in Western New York, where my sister and brother-in-law live. It’s only six miles from my house, so we spend a lot of time there boating and swimming. On July 3 is a big Independence Day celebration called the “Ring of Fire.” Every house around the lake lights flares along the lake’s edge at 10:00 PM, turning the lake into a glowing orange ring. Of course, there are fireworks, which inspired my card...

I inked a background using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, and Broken China. I used fireworks stencils from Trinity Stamps, Echo Patk, and Simple Stories.  I heat embossed in red, white, blue, and gold.

Added lots of Stickles and Nuvo Drops for sparkle and shine, and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s “Land that I Love” set. The little house die cuts are from Julie Ebersole’s “Hearth & Home” at Ellen Hutson, and Neat & Tangled’s “Warm Winter Scene.”

Inspired by Cool Treats!

Playing along with the Inspired By Challenge this week....Cool Treats!

I went to the ocean in my inspiration to find the coolest girl of all...a mermaid!

I used Waffle Flower’s “ Mermaid Mail,” The Stamp Market’s “Stampgram,” and Papertrey Ink’s
“Sand Swatch” to create my scene. Blended popsicle colors for the background using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Scattered Straw, Spun Sugar, Festive Berries, and Salty Ocean, with some Perfect Pearls splatters.

Added lots of glitz with Wink of Stella and Sakura Stardust pens, Prisma glitter, and Nuvo Drops. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Patriotic Rainbow Sketch

A really fun sketch by Amy to be inspired by at Freshly Made Sketches...

I chose lots of different supplies for my patriotic card, starting with The Stamp Market’s “Rainbow Stripes” dies...

Stenciled the background flowers with Kaisercraft’s “Bloom” stencil and navy ink, adding red Nuvo Drop centers. The sentiment is from Papertrey Inks “ Land That I Love” set.

Stamped and heat embossed the pieces with several background stamps, and white or clear embossing powder. Added Glossy Accents to the heart, a wooden heart sponged with Frayed Burlap ink and white embossing powder, and mini petals from a Memory Box die. Happy almost July 4th, our family can’t wait!

April Snow Showers...

Bring blue May flowers?! That is how the saying seems to be going this week in Western New York! A card for the Color Throwdown this week...aqua, turquoise, gray, and gold!

I chose The Stamp Market’s “May Flowers” for my card...

I stamped and die cut the multi-step images and added a gold embossed sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s “Pen & Ink.”

Garden of Verses

It’s a great time to spend time reading...and visiting The Library Challenge! This week’s inspiration comes from “A Child’s Garden of Verses” by Robert Louis Stevens, illustrated by Eve Garnett.

Since it’s snowing here again, I tried to show you what our springs look like here in Western NY...a mix of mittens, coats, and flowers...

I chose the adorable “Acorn Girl” by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper Designs and colored her with Zig and Tombow markers and a wet paintbrush. The background is made with “Lush Vines” by PinkFresh Studio, and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s “Blooming Button Bits.” The mini flowers and leaves were made with Memory Box dies.

Wishing you sunshine without snow in your neck of the woods! Thanks for stopping by!

A Very Special Blog Hop

Our little blog family at The 12 Kits of Occasions has experienced the incredibly difficult loss of one of the first members, and we are honoring her memory today.

Sharron Gregory of “On Papillon Wings” passed away on March 30, and our hearts are broken for her husband, family, and friends.

I “met” Sharron through visits to her blog on Papertrey Ink and Waltzingmouse Stamps blog hops way back toward their beginnings. She always made such beautiful creations and left the kindest comments on my own cards, as well. We were together on The 12 Kits of Occasions when I was a member several years ago, and when I returned this year. She was such a warm and generous presence on our team, offering kindness, prayers, and inspiration to us all whenever it was needed.

We are making friendship cards today to honor Sharron, and I chose butterflies from Papertrey Ink’s “Love Lives Here.” Sharron loved them and her sweet Papillon dogs, too!

I added details along the edges by using Penny Black’s (maker of her favorite hedgehog stamps!) “Leaf Stitched Frames” dies, and PTI’s “Stitch in Time Borders” stamps and dies.

This sentiment from PTI’s “Kindness Counts” reminded me perfectly of Sharron.

I will think of Sharron this spring when I see the butterflies. I feel blessed to have met her in this papercrafting world that brings people together in the most unique ways. I’ll think of her during this time when so many in the world are hurting, and will be inspired by her kind heart...and hopefully find ways to bring a smile to others’ faces in her honor. ❤️

Zesty Sketch

This week at Freshly Made Sketches was a fun one by Kim with lots of fun possibilities!

I chose a new background cling stamp by Pinkfresh Studio called “Lemon Lush” as my starting point, heat embossed on white paper with white powder.

I used Zig Clean Color Markers and a wet paintbrush to color, then added a hello die by The Stamp Market cut from gingham and blue paper and layered.

For the layered lines in the set, I added a sentiment from Papertrey Ink on vellum, a strip of white cardstock, and vellum flowers made with The Stamp Market’s “Bloominous” set.  Not sure of my color scheme, but The background is beautiful and so much fun to color!

The Library Challenge! #49

Playing along with my first challenge at The Library Challenge, where each week you get to be inspired by a book cover,  title, or story. How cool! This week, the challenge was entitled Anthology, and you got to choose any of this year’s covers (or last year’s, too). I was inspired by the cover of “The Note” by Zoë Folbigg.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1MhMOzLCfVbCOyLoZ8xj3Io-KMI9dI2hF

I used The Greetery”s “Christmas Care-A-Van” set, the “Hand-Drawn Heart” die from The Stamp Market, “Happy Pretty Panels” from Reverse Confetti, and “Headline Numbers” die from Papertrey Ink for my scene.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1f-rQJFXyIV60N1ViOD2plZa8fk7ZoncW
Please excuse my post as I broke my tablet screen and am trying from my new phone for the first time and I’m trying to figure out how to add an edited photo 🤣!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 24

Day 24 of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags featured design by Heffy Doodle! I was inspired by Cassie Tezak's sweet pastel scene featuring Santa's Workshop with a pink and white awning!

I made another North Pole village stop...Mrs. Claus' Sweet Shoppe, with Papertrey Ink's Petite Places: Sweet Shoppe...

I used a snow stencil from KaiserCraft with white texture paste over a background sponged with Distress Oxide Inks. Stamped a sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Used Petite Places: Sweet Shoppe stamps and dies and PTI's Tinsel & Tags kit stamps and dies for my little shoppe tucked in the snowy hills of the North Pole!

25 Days of Christmas. Tags- Day 20

Day 20 at Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags brought fun inspiration from A Jillian Vance Design. For the first time, I combined ideas from two designers to make my tag...Jillian Vance and
Bunny Vance! I love Jullian's buffalo plaid and greenery, and Bunny's fun baked confection tag with a sweet greeting!

I used Papertrey Ink's Christmas Tree Shaker and Holly Jolly dies. I linked the plaid with the Honey Bee Stamps plaid stencil and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks. The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

I filled the shaker with the coolest "Polka Parade" rainbow sprinkles from Little Things from Lucy's Cards. Added some Nuvo Drops and baker's twine, and this yummy pastel treat tag is ready!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Bonus Day 26

I'm still posting out of order as I check off my list for Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags! I skipped ahead to her bonus day 26 so that I could use some cute Hello Bluebir stamps! I chose
Marine Simon's cute corrugated tags with the adorable snow angel-making deer from "First Snow!"

I had some cream colored corrugated cardboard, and I die cut the deer from two pieces then placed the die cut inside. The added layer makes it seem like the deer has sunk down into the snow.

Added a snowflake cut with a L'il Ibkers die and a tag from PTI stamped with a sentiment from the Firat Snow set. I colored the deer with Zig Clean Color and Tombow markers and a wet paintbrush. Added lots of Sakura Stardust pen in the space around the deer for snowy sparkle Such sweet and fun images and sentiments at Hello Bluebird!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 22

Day 22 at Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags brought lovely inspiration from Birch Press Designs. I was inspired by Ashlea Cornell's pretty die cut tag with the glittery sentiments!

I wanted to make a tag with the die cuts left in the frame and neutral background colors like Ashlea, so I used Neat & Tangled "Warm Winter Scene Cover Plate" die again. The pieces were cut from the "Gingham Farm" patterned paper collection from My Mind's Eye 🤗!

I cut some mini stars from silver glitter paper and added a pop of red with a red heart covered in Glossy Accents. The "joy" sentiment is cut from some glossy cream patterned paper with PTI's "Headline Alphabet" dies. Now I have lots of little leftover houses for more fun tags!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 18

Day 18 of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags featured designs by Neat & Tangled! I was inspired by Carol Mayne's red bokeh tag, so I made a tag with a background to match...

I made the background using a Hero Arts stencil called "Bubble Confetti." I linked the tag with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks. The first layer was Barn Door all over the tag with Barn Door circles over the top, I then added more circles with the stencil in Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany. I finished with a few white pigment ink circles.

I cut houses in white using Neat and Tangled's "Warm Winter Scene Cover Plate" die and lined then up partially off the tag, cutting the excess off of the bottom. The sentiment from PTI's Pen & Ink:Christmas" is heat embossed with white powder. Added a little red heart with Glossy Accents, too. This card was fun to make...bur there was red ink everywhere! 😄

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 9

Playing some catch up for Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags, going way back to Day 9 with Pink & Main. I loved Annette Allan's sweet, funny little animals all dressed for winter...especially the bear!

I just got Reverse Confetti's "Big Bear" set, and thought he would be perfect!

I colored with Zig Clean Color and Tombow markers and a wet paintbrush. Added the hat from Reverse Confetti's "S'more Love" set. I used the Ink Blot Shop's "Cable Knit Background" and shaded it with Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Crushed Olive Distress Oxide inks. The snowflakes are heat embossed over the top with white powder and the sentiment is from PTI's "Warm & Fuzzy." I love how this turned out, thanks for the inspiration, Annette!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 23

Day 23 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags featured some Jillibean Soup! I was inspired by Leanne Allinson's adorable pickup truck cards, and I happen to have Jillibean Soup's Loads of Love stamp set!

I tried some no line coloring, so I stamped the truck with Inkon3's Fadeout ink then used Prismacolor pencils. Stamped an old Weave Backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms in white ink along the bottom. At the top, stamped pine branches from The Greetery's "Winter Sketches" and some snowflakes from PTI's "Warm and Fuzzy" using white ink, too The sentiment from Pen & Ink: Christmas" is also from PTI. A tiny sprig and rusty jingle bell to finish this little rustic tag!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 8

Day 8 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags brought sweet inspiration from Picket Fence Studios. I thought Ceal Pritchett's snowman tag with the kraft background, wooden tree rings, and snowflakes was so cute!

I used Papertrey Ink's "Fenceline Winter" snow scene elements, then added a woodgrain heart and sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I stamped over the top with an old favorite called "Filagree Snowflake Background" from Peddler's Pack. I also added snow. With Nuvo Drops and followed Sandy Allnock's advice to put it all over the scene and not just in the sky! 😅

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 2

Day 2 at Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags brought the fun and adorable a plenty, with tags featuring images from Ellen Hutson!  I absolutely loved Carly Tee's sweet polar bear monogram cards!

I tried something similar with the bear from Hello Bluebird's new Cocoa Party" set.

First, I sort of masked out the cocoa cup (and some other lines, oops) when stamping!  My Exacto knife skills weren't quite good enough to cut out the little arms carefully enough, so there was some doctoring to be done... but hopefully my daughters Eva  and Claire won't notice! I colored the bears with Zig Clear Color Markers and a paintbrush. The letters are cut with PTI's "Headline Alphabet" die set and are colored with Copic markers and sparkled with Stickles!
