BQF 2018 - Tula ColorDive quilt

Welcome to the Fall edition of the Bloggers Quilt Festival hosted by Amy from AmysCreativeSide and thank you for stopping by.
Earlier this year I participated in a Tula Pink Charm Square swap and used them to make a Color Dive quilt using the pattern by Anna Maria Horner.
I needed quite a few charm squares so used all of those from the swap and cut the rest from my stash as well as slightly larger squares to make the HST.
There are quite a few HST's needed for the pattern - it was my first time using a Bloc-loc ruler to trim the HST and it made it so much quicker!
There are prints from many of Tula Pinks fabric ranges as well as some of the new All Stars, Tent Stripes, Pom Pom dots, and solids.
This quilt finished at 63 x 72" and it was quilt long arm quilted at my LQS, Rainbow Patchwork.
The blue backing is the same as I used for the "Love Cats" quilt that I made a few months ago and the quilt is bound in an aqua solid.
A huge thank you to Amy for hosting such a fun quilt festival - it is always so inspiring to see all of the quilts liked up!
Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you enjoy visiting many of the other blogs during this week!

Bloggers Quilt Festival - Legendary quilt

When we went on a recent holiday to Canada and the USA to celebrate our 50th birthdays this year, I returned with plans to make a special quilt for my hubbys actual birthday which is coming up soon.
I purchased the Legendary pattern by Elizabeth Hartman and some of the fabrics whilst we were away as I was lucky to visit the Prickly Pear quilt shop in Montana, and the Rushin Tailors quilt shop in Skagway, Alaska.
The trees in the quilt were made from the Bali pops jelly roll and I have used different strips for each part of the tree.
And I found the perfect woodgrain print for the tree trunks.
For the background, I used a Moda Basic Grey Grunge fabric in cream.
The Sasquatch was made using a brown grunge blender.
I found the backing fabric at my LQS, "Rainbow Patchwork"  and the quilt was also long arm quilted there by Karen.
It was when we met up with the local "Sasquatch" in Harrison Hot Spings, on our second day of the trip that I knew that I just had to make the Legendary quilt.
Hoping hubby loves his new quilt and that it brings back memories of our first overseas holiday together.

Linking up with Amy from Amy's Creative Side for the Bloggers Quilt Festival - Fall 2017.
And this project was on my FAL Q3 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Spring 2014: Scrappy trip Along Quilt

Hi, and welcome if you are visiting from the Bloggers Quilt festival! Last year, I joined the Scrappy Trip along and made a quilt using 180 different prints from one of my favourite designers, Denyse Schmidt.
Well, it is actually 182 different prints including the backing and binding:) I planned each block to have a darker strip running through the centre to form a diagonal pattern when the blocks were sewn together.
I used one of my favourite DS prints from Aunt Edna on the back  - a bright and cheery Orange Leaf.
I really love how this quilt has turned out - the Trip Along blocks were so easy to make!
It was quilted in a cross hatch grid which was quite easy to do - I didn't mark out my lines but just eyeballed them as I quilted.
Now that it is getting cooler here in Australia, we have this quilt on our bed and Simba also loves to snuggle up in it.
Quilt Stats-
Pattern: Scrappy Trip Around the World tutorial from Quiltville Quips and Snips here
Size: Lap Size - 60x72"
Quilting: Straight line quilting in a cross hatch grid pattern
Fabrics:180 different strips of Denyse Schmidt fabrics from Picnic and Fairgrounds, Winding Roads, Daisy Mae, Sugar Creek, Aunt Edna, Richmond, Chicopee, Flea Market Fancy, Meadowlark, Hope Valley, Katie Jump Rope, and Fancy Free.
Backing: DS Aunt Edna Multi Leaf on Mini Dot Orange
Binding: DS Aunt Edna Multi Dot Burgundy

Blogger's Qult Festival - Group/Bee quilt entry

It is that time of the year again when we get to share quilts for the wonderful Bloggers Quilt festival hosted by Amy at Amy's Creative Side.
AmysCreativeSide
And this time I am able to enter into the Group/Bee quilt category, as this year I have participated in my first quilting bee.
Earlier this year, I asked my 11 fellow Simply Solids Fallow group members to make some X and + blocks using this tutorial, which I then made into this bright and colourful quilt which finished at 48 x 62" after washing.
I asked the group to "Stash-bust" and I love the variety of colours that they have used for the blocks. I added in some bright cornerstones and used a dark grey for the sashing, then a royal blue for the binding.
I just did fairly simple echo quilting along the sashing and in the "X" parts of the blocks, which shows up better on the back.
Thanks for visiting and if you get a chance, please visit as many of the wonderfully inspiring quilts at the BQF.

Bloggers Quilt Festival - Swoon

Hi, and welcome if you are visiting for the first time from the Bloggers Quilt Festival!
I have decided to enter my "Swoon" quilt from last year for the Spring 2013 BQF.
The fabrics are from the Denyse Schmidt Daisy Mae range with an ivory solid as the background.
I began making this quilt late January 2012 and tried to do a block a month so that it was done by the end of the year - I really loved making these big 24" blocks
This quilt is the largest that I have made so far and I had it quilted at our LQS "Rainbow Patchwork" in a swirly design, with a bamboo/cotton batting which has made the quilt so lovely and soft.
It is coming into winter here in Australia now so we have this quilt on our bed and it is keeping us nice and warm at night. I chose a simple grey backing so that I can turn the quilt over in the evening when the cat sleeps on the bed so his grey fur wont show up at all.
Quilt pattern: "Swoon" by Camille Roskelly
Size: 80 x 80"
Fabrics: Daisy Mae by Denyse Schmidt, Prima solid in Ivory.
Quilted: by Karen at Rainbow Patchwork, South Lismore, NSW, Australia.
