Endgame mini quilt.

Jemina Flendt of Tied with a Ribbon patterns recently hosted a quiltalong to make the Endgame quilt.
I chose to sew the mini quilt version of the pattern which I could make into a pillow.
I used a variety of Tula Pink fabrics, mainly Zuma leftover from the Anchors Aweigh quilt.
The pattern was fairly easy to sew although some of those pesky points just didn't want to meet up!
The quilting was quite simple just following the lines of the triangles.
The pillow is bound in aqua to match many of the fabrics that were used in it.
And backed in a lovely deep blue shot cotton.

Finish-along goals for Q2 2019.

Now that the weather is cooling down, I have quite a few things I am hoping to finish in this quarter...
 1. Gypsy Wife quilt: Most of the blocks are now made for this quilt so just need to put it all together and hopefully even get it quilted!
2. Nessie baby quilt: a cute pattern by Elizabeth Hartman which I am using for a baby quilt.
3. Heartland crochet blanket: I have used a couple of the balls of yarn but have quite a few to go...
4. Tula Pink Hurray for Hexies quilt: most of the hexagons are sewn together...
5. Corner to corner crochet baby blanket: about halfway there on this blanket...
6. Safari Meadowland quilt: I have made the blocks for the quilt top and just need to get it quilted...
7. End Game mini quilt: Just need to decide on how to finish this one...

8. Swiss quilt: I am digging into my Bonnie & Camille stash to remake a quilt I made for a gift last year.
9. A pretty pastel C2C blanket for a baby girl due soon...
10. And a baby quilt featuring this elephant print by Tula Pink.

Big Sky baby "J" quilt

The second of the Big Sky quilts for baby "J" ...

This quilt is bound in grey just to make it a little different from the first quilt.
And still has many of the fun fabrics including the cute bear fabric.
And also features some bison.
The backing is also the same as for the first quilt.
This was on my Q1 FAL 2019 list so linking up with the 2019 FAL team.

Ahoy Matey quilt

We travelled to Canada last year and met up with a friends daughter and her hubby in Victoria, BC - they are now expecting twins and the baby quilts I have for them are here
I also wanted to gift a quilt to the lovely parents-to-be so have finally finished this "Ahoy Matey" quilt from a pattern by Kristy @ Quiet Play designs so that it can be sent overseas to them.
For the main blocks in the quilt, I used a selection of batik fabrics in shades of blue, with a white solid for the anchor.
This was a very easy quilt to sew as it is just straight seams with squares and rectangles to form the anchor shape.
The original quilt top finishes at 42 x 48" but I added an extra row of squares around the quilt to bring it up to 54 x 60".
The backing was just perfect for this quilt with many shades of blue from aqua though to deep navy.
Hoping our lovely friends will be able to use this quilt to keep them cosy during those late night baby feeds!
This was on my Q2 FAL list for this year so linking up with the 2018 FAL team.

Tula Pink Butterfly quilt

The Tula Pink Butterfly quilt has long been on my to-do list and I had a put aside a FQ bundle of Eden fabric for when I finally got around to making it.
When Angie @gnomeangel announced the sewalong earlier this year I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to join in and make it at last!
The quilt looks more complicated that it really is as it is mainly composed of simple quilt blocks such as log cabins, flying geese and HST's - although those round blocks certainly were a bit more challenging!
I used a Prima solid in silver for the background fabric and managed to buy some of the Eden moth fabric in Amethyst for the backing.
As this is a fairly large quilt, I sent it to my local quilter Karen at Rainbow Patchwork to be long arm quilted.
Now I just have to wait until it cools down for winter so I can put this quilt on our bed...
This was on my FAL Q4 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Colorway quilt

Late last year I saw on Instagram that there was a quilt-along starting using the new "Colorway" pattern by Thimbleblossoms.
This looked like a nice pattern to sew and also a good way to use up more of my stash so I joined in the sew along.
For my Colorway quilt, I used a mix a Bonnie and Camille prints (mainly Handmade and Little Ruby) along with coordinating solids and a black spot on cream print for the background.
The blocks were a bit tricky to sew as there are quite a few points to match but I think it got easier as I sewed them.
Once the 36 blocks were made, I laid them out on my design floor (aka our loungeroom floor) to check the arrangement before sewing the blocks together.
This was such a fun quilt to make and I really love the new black prints in Handmade, especially with the cream and black dot background.
As this was quite a large quilt 76 x 76", I sent it to my local quilter to have it long armed using the same Gingersnap pattern that was used on the Canyon Patchwork Swoon quilt for my daughters 21st birthday.
The backing is an ivory fabric with small white spots which I had in my stash, and I couldn't resist using the same B&W stripe for the binding that Camille used on her quilt.
This was on my FAL Q1 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Scraptastic Tuesday - Swoon scraps

One of my favourite quilt patterns is the Swoon quilt by Thimbleblossoms and I have already made quite a few projects using the original design and the Swoon mini quilt version...
And recently I made a cute cross stitched hoop neckace using a Quilty Stitches pattern by Corey @ Coriander quilts.
There are a couple of quilt alongs currently on IG - one hosted by Camille herself (#swoonalong),
And another by @mel_is_a_swapaholic (#swoonalong2017).
I am joining in to make the Swoon 16 pattern using a mix of Melba and Matilda fabric by Emma Jean Jansen with some coordinating solids and a charcoal background.
So far I have sewn 8 blocks and have been collecting the little HST scraps from the flipped corners.
Although these HST will only be about 1.5" after trimming, and finish at 1" once sewn, they can be used to make patchwork panels for other projects such as the Makers Tote I made last year.
