Finish Along 3rd quarter 2016

Even though I had quite a busy quarter with graduation and a few special birthday celebrations, I managed to get most of the projects completed from my Q3 Finish-A-Long list...
1. Cakewalk quilt: done!
2. Caravan tote: done!
4. Elephant Abstractions quilt: all of the 97 paper pieces are cut out and I have made a start on the first 3 pieces of the trunk so just 94 more to go now - no further progress...
5. Coastal Ripples: this is a project carried over from the last quarter using up some leftover yarn from other blankets - still no further progress...
6. Patchwork Swoon: done!
8. Dwell houses runner: done!
9. Koala cushion: done!
10. Indie bag: done!

Pineapple runner

Another handmade Christmas gift on my Q4 FAL list was a Pineapple table runner using the tutorial by Sassafras Lane designs on the Dear Stella blog.
For the runner, I made 3 of the pineapple blocks like the ones for the Pineapple mini quilt that I made a while ago.
And I quilted it in straight (ish) lines along the length of the runner.
The backing is a cute pineapple print and I used a stripey lime fabric for the binding.

Christmas Tree runner

My favourite treat to buy each month is Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine as I find it always has a nice variety of articles and great projects to make in each issue.
One of the projects that I wanted to make was a Christmas runner using a simple tree block from Issue #14.
I made three of these blocks and added a border to make the runner.
The back is a Christmas holly print in gold and white, and the runner is bound in a cheery red solid.
As my kids are now older, we don't tend to put up a lot of Christmas decorations at our place anymore, but this runner added a festive touch in the family room.
Another new additon was a sparkly "Snowflakes" pillow from Tanya (@yetanotherusername) which I received for the Holiday round of the X Factor pillow swap.
The Christmas runner was on my FAL Q4 list for this year so linking up with Adrianne @ On The Windy Side.

Scraptastic Tuesday - Christmassy Table Runner

We are having a Christmas gathering at our place this year and I am trying to get a few things made ready for the table.

One quick project was a Quilt As You Go table runner using a tutorial by Maureen Cracknell.

I gathered some pieces of Christmas fabric and cut them into 2.5" strips - this is a great way to use up scraps.
The runner was very quick to sew up and only took me a few hours to do including stitching down the binding.

3. Outlander Craft swap: done!
 4. Tessa basket using the pattern by Green Letter Day: done!

8. Table runner using some Terra Australis fabrics: done!
9. Cotton and Steel MQSdone!
10.  I would like to use some lovely rayon for this pattern from Anna Maria Horner - no progress but maybe this will be done in time for summer...

Now to think about the projects for the next quarter...
