Celebrate! MIM and More!

Happy Monday!  I had a few moments to make a card to play along with this week's PTI Make It Monday Challenge.  This week  we are to make rainbow medallions using stamps!

The first thing I had to do was look through all of my PTI stamp sets to see which image to use for this technique.  I saw the Mums the Word set and thought it could work.  While stamping I was thinking the image would looked like a fluffy multicolored pillow; however, by the time it was completed I thought it looked like fireworks!  It only seemed normal to me to add the big star from the Seeing Star die collection to the center.   I  thought the star looked too plain so I added some texture by embossing Meadow Greens sunburst image all over the red star in Zing Rouge.  I added some watermark ink and snow white pigment to add some light and depth to the star.    I layered a few of the stars together for stability.  I added a two toned sentiment from Wet Paints III stamp set.   I finished with some silver, gold, and red sequins!   I love how it turned out!  I am playing along with Seize the Birthday Challenge.  Stars and/or Stripes!

PTI Rustic white, simply chartreuse, and pure poppy card stock, PTI pure poppy, harvest gold, simply chartreuse, hibiscus burst, hawaiian shores, and enchanted evening inks.  PTI Mums the Word and Meadow Greens stamps and  Seeing Stars Collection dies.

I Hope Your Day is Sprinkled with Love!

Popping in with a quick shaker card.  When I got home from school yesterday, my PTI Shaker and Sprinkles Kit had arrived!  Oh, my word!  I am totally blown away by this kit.  EVERY piece is fabulous!

I am playing along with this week's Fusion Card Challenge.  I chose to just use the inspiration piece.     First of all, I started with a rustic white card base.  I used one of the pattern paper pieces from the kit.  LOVE this paper pack layout for future paper packs.  It is awesome to just cut the paper into four panels.

I have only made one shaker card before and it was square.  When you start making shape shakers it changes the process a wee bit.  Having the foam adhesive sheets was imperative.   Makes it go so much easier.  Becky thought of everything!

What I learned from making this shaker card!
  • I needed to know what I wanted my shaker to look like beforehand.  Everything has to be done in a specific order in order to close the frame with the confetti.   I had to have sentiment placement, embossing, die cut sentiment all ready to go before the process of putting stuff together took place. In other words, this is not a create as you go kind of card .
  • Also, I learned that less is more.  I think my shaker is way too full.  I got confetti happy!  LOL!  A few pieces is all it takes.
  • I learned that the clear card stock window has a lot of static.  What I still need to know is how to get rid of all that static?  It made the confetti cling to to the window before I could even glue it down.  Not to mention all the little paper dust pieces wanted to stick to the window.  I must figure out how to get rid of some of the static without marring the acetate or putting smudges on it.  Anyone know?

While this shaker is far from perfect, I still like it.  Makes me happy!   I love the glitter card stock die cut word which I layered with some harvest gold card stock die cut with same word twice for some stability.  The whole word just sparkles!

PTI April 2014 Blog Hop!

Happy Friday!  Today I am playing along with Papertrey's April Blog Hop Challenge!   This month is all about Embroidered Inspiration.

April-Blog-Hop-Inspiration
I spent a few minutes the other day just  looking at the pictures Nicole chose for inspiration.  I like the black circle background of the first picture with the pop of flowers.  Next, I like the bold leafy and floral patterns of the third one across on top row.  Then, I loved the soft leafy feel for a background texture in the top middle.  Finally, I just love the white dots on the bottom left corner.   I decided to blend a little bit from each of the inspiration pieces that I liked.  I came up with this design.  I tried to stay fairly CAS with the card design.

I am using PTI Embellished Elegance stamp set and dies  along with Bigger Blooms stamps and dies.  I also used the Vineyard Impressions Plate for my harvest gold background.  I combined some white, harvest gold, true black, and new leaf card stocks.  I used pure poppy, harvest gold, and new leaf inks for the flowers and leaves.   Snow pigment ink was used for sentiment along with some white ep.

As for the dots, I am using some white acrylic paint and a stylus.  Makes for some quick dots!  Dries pretty fast, too!

Thanks For Everything! Make It Monday and a Retro Sketch

I am playing along with this week's  Papertrey's  Make It Monday Challenge.  This week's challenge is Water Splats.

I combined three colors: pure poppy, orange jest, and harvest gold then added the water splats.    I sort of got carried away with the splats.  LOL!  It was fun to sort of make a mess and be creative at the same time.   I used  the Wet Paint stamp set for the sentiment.   I used Background Basics:  Inspiration stamp set in pure poppy behind the focal panel.    I used MFT Blueprints 12.   I finished with the little tab and harvest gold button threaded with some red/white thread.

I combined this challenge with this week's Retro Sketches.  Love this CAS design.   This is a 4.5 squared card.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

So Happy For You!

Happy Tuesday!  Popping in with a card to share.  It has been a rainy cloud covered day.  The thunderstorm system coming through has brought with it  COLD temperatures.     I just spent Saturday putting away winter clothing and breaking out the spring and summer clothes.  Oh, well!    Oh, the bright side, when it is rainy out, it is a fabulous time to craft!

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef01a51193d2d0970c-piApril 14 Betsy SSI am playing along with this week's Papertrey's Make It Monday and Papertrey's April Inspiration Archive.  The MIM challenge is to stamp and emboss on small die cuts.    For my card I combined the colors, layout, various PTI stamp sets to create the finished project.  For the stamping on the small die cuts, I do not actually own the stamps that come with the dies, so I improvised with some background images.  I like the finished look.  I love playing with colors, however, I find it truly challenging to incorporate this many colors onto one card and find a balance.  I am actually impressed that I used these colors without a single flower anywhere on the card.  Now, that is truly a challenge for me!  I am also playing along with this week's Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!   Love the inspiration picture!

As always thanks  so much for stopping by!
