FEMA Camp - 2012

It's a time of unrest and your rights are suspended
There's a list going round (and it's likely you are on it)
The names on the blue list are picked up later
And the red list goes to the incinerator

We're never going to end up in the furnace of a FEMA camp
Burning in the furnace, furnace of a FEMA camp
FEMA camp

There's an Amtrak rail leading to the siding
Where a turnstile waits for all those disembarking
Blue zone, red zone - humanity fades
So I'm going to join up with the renegades

We're never going to end up in the furnace of a FEMA camp
Burning in the furnace, furnace of a FEMA camp
FEMA camp

We're never going to end up in the furnace of a FEMA camp
Burning in the furnace, furnace of a FEMA camp
FEMA camp
FEMA camp

My Bloody Valentine - Early Years (Rebooted)

Originally post March 15, 2015
with an old ADrive link now updated.

For those that may have missed the BBC Sessions...

My Bloody Valentine - The Early Years

This Dublin-born band didn't take long to establish itself as the cornerstone of a loose, largely media-built coalition of bands playing aggressive (and aggressively opaque) pop music that stood in direct opposition to both rockism and the twee bedsit romanticism of the pallid anti- rockists. But while most of the embryonic shoegazers maintained a tacit connection with pop tradition, My Bloody Valentine gradually transformed its lexicon via radical addition-by-subtraction: by the dawn of the '90s, the band had reinvented itself as a herald of sound as sacrament.
...more at Trouser Press

I've seen this band once, It was not a pleasant experience.
There is a live soundboard (?) show available recorded at The Commodore Ballroom in
Vancouver, CA. but the wall of noise/distortion wipes out any sign of vocals. It may as well be
a instrumental live recording of melodic chainsaws.

Old 97's - Chris Whitley - Live KCRW Studios

Although they became one of the most enduring bands in the alternative country-rock catalog, Old 97's drew inspiration from a broad range of genres, including the twangy stomp of cowpunk and the melodies of power pop. Formed in 1993 by frontman Rhett Miller and bassist Murry Hammond, the group spent the bulk of the decade posed on the brink of mainstream success, issuing albums that often drew warm reviews but never yielded a substantial hit. Old 97's tightened their sound as the decade drew to a close, retaining their bar-band vigor while introducing a stronger pop/rock sound on albums like Too Far to Care and Satellite Rides. Miller also mounted a solo career in the early 2000s, but the band remained together nonetheless, continuing to release material with their original lineup intact into the following decade.

Whitley as an American blues/rock singer-songwriter and guitarist. During his 25-year career he released more than a dozen albums, had two songs in the top 50 of the Billboard mainstream rock charts and received two Independent Music Awards. Whitley's sound was drawn from the traditions of blues, jazz and rock and he recorded songs by artists from many genres. He died in 2005 of lung cancer at the age of 45.
