Frank Zappa - Live Stony Brook, NY. 1984 (Late Show)

As served up by the Zappateers and Edge at guitars 101...

Frank Zappa  - Live SUNY Gym
Stoney Brook University
Long Island, NY.
November 3, 1984
(Late Show)
SBD/AUD (RobSam-doctorzap-jaypfunk-BengoFury-flambay-mudsharknyc)
Soundboard/Audience @ FLAC)

PREAMBLE:
This FZ Shows entry provides a SBD source upgrade from any previous FZ Shows version, to date, while merging another two sources (one SBD & one AUD) to near complete the concert. This show captures FZ & the 1984 Touring Band approximately one week into the second leg of their North American 20th Anniversary touring schedule as they performed a pair of shows on this date in the Gym of the State University, otherwise known as SUNY. They are in fine form while enjoying themselves on stage to deliver a highly enjoyable & entertaining performance. While this entry showcases the Late show, a superb SBD version of the Early show resides in FZ Shows here and is not to be missed:

It is an essential must-have which compliments this Late show entry while providing a fantastic double bill experience of historical relevance for this date.

SBD SOURCE INFORMATION: The main SBD upgrade portion herein originates from an unknown low generation SBD source as provided by the RobSam-doctorzap Shoebox entry found here:

1984 11 03 - Gym, SUNY, Stony Brook, NY E+L SBD (RobSam doctorzap) http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=22072

LINEAGE: Maxell XLII low GEN ? > Nakamichi DR-1 > Realtek HDAudio pentium i7 > Soundforge 10 Pro Highest quality setting Izotope 64 bit src downsampling / MBIT+dither > TLH > WAV > PEAK > speed correction. patching, editing & tracking > FLAC (level 8)

SQ for this main SBD portion rates as a solid A grade and serves up a great listen. Because the main RS DRZ SBD upgrade source herein had slightly less tape than the previous SBD sources available, it was necessary to be patch accordingly with approximately less than xx minutes of SBD tape from the, previously available, jaypfunk FZ Shows entry found here:

1984 11 03 Stony Brook NY Late 107.12 SBD + AUD (jaypfunk)
http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3143

LINEAGE: SBD> Very Low Gen (maybe 2nd gen) Maxell XLII-S 90min tape> Kenwood KX-W8020 Cassette Deck> Sound Blaster Awe32 PC Soundcard> Recorded To WAV And Edited With Cool Edit Pro> WAV Files Split with CDWave> FLAC > WAV > PEAK > speed correction, 16k noise removal, patching into main SBD source

AUD PATCH SOURCE INFORMATION: The audience patch portion herein was sourced via the existing jaypfunk FZ Shows entry as listed above. However, the audience source therein originates from a prior BengoFury FZ Shows entry, now archived, and retired here:

1984 11 03 Stony Brook NY Late 103.25 Sbd+Aud (BengoFury) - RESEED
http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3141

LINEAGE: exact lineage unknown > WAV > PEAK > speed correction, patching into SBD sources

SQ for this main AUD patch portion rates as a C grade, imo.
UPGRADE INFORMATION: This FZ Shows entry upgrades the previous FZ Shows entry found here:

1984 11 03 Stony Brook NY Late 107.12 SBD + AUD (jaypfunk)
http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3143

SAMPLES & FILLS DISCUSSION FOR THIS DATE:
