My feeder activity fell off dramatically with the nicer weather. The old faithfuls are still there, but I'm never looking out the windows at the right time :-) I had a new bird today on the big ash tree, but of course my camera didn't want to separate "the bird from the bark" on the digital zoom that I needed to get a close picture....drat! I'm pretty positive that it was a Brown Creeper! I've never had one, but it did just that.....creep....up and down the bottom of the tree. It is certainly obvious where this bird's name came from! Here are the best shots I managed. It was fun to watch until the downy chased it away.
This junco female was cleaning off the front step for me.....good girl! The feeders were pretty active this morning with the goldfinches and house finches battling away over who got to be where. I like these 2 shots.....the "ballet" pose of 2 up 2 out...............and the battle for position! My cardinals are always there and today I even managed to get a few clear shots before they spooked and flew away. They are very aware of every sound or flash of light my camera makes. When I focus the camera it puts out a green light, and I know they see it!
The Mockingbird stopped in and so did a Red-Winged blackbird.I liked this little Goldfinch.....she looks like a little baby chick in this pose!
I can see the black head of this male showing through....I saw several slight changes toward the summer yellow in the Goldfinches that stopped by.P.S. Well.....that "spring" feel is gone this morning.....I woke up to snow and it is suppose to snow all day.....maybe 4 inches. So this "snowball"maybe be lot whiter by this afternoon!

Fantastic shots this morning! Wow, so many birds! Love the shots of the Brown Creeper. At the place where I used to live, they used walk up and down the trees. I've only seen one since then, out in the woods when I was walking and there was no way to take a picture. They're not easy to photograph, but your pictures are great.
I love your dome house. I bet it's fun and interesting to live in a place like that.
I hope to eventually get better shots of that Creeper if it sticks around. I saw it again later, but still no really good picture...it is a little too far away. A dome is interesting and fun...except when the skylight leaks on the bed :-) Actually, I love it, but there are drawbacks with the slanting walls and windows that frustrate me. I only have 2 "normal" windows in the whole house...the rest are plexiglass triangles that you can't take photos through very well.
What a big variety of birds you get, and doubles and triplicates of them too... my feeders are so empty right now..Blue Jays, Redpolls and one Song Sparrow; and I have to be away again today, as I was yesterday so not much bird watching for me.
I like your new banner too; very classy I think, love the splashes of light. We have had a Brown Creeper once and its a nice little bird, hope your's stays so you can get more photographically acquainted with it;-)
Four inches of snow!! That's a lot!
Hello Me and my Camera,
4 inches is probably not very much where you live, but for southern Indiana it is a lot. The birds are very active today! Those wire feeders have given me more entertainment value than a TV set. The birds are constantly jockeying for position on them! I took some more video today. I can't get myself away from the window long enough to do my computer work...maybe I'll take the day off. Are you allowed "snow days" when you work at home? That duck shot in my banner was a fluke....I was doing sunrise shots and just happened to catch a duck in the light showing on the lake! Didn't even know I had the pic, till I downloaded.
Mary I am so pleased that you introduced yourself to me in my post of my Arizona road trip!
We did wake up to a wicked snow storm the one morning we spent in your state...no big surprise to us as we did get the same storm at home so I am told and it is still snowing there!!(That's why we escape to the southwest!)
I enjoyed these images of your bird visitors....the first with the snowy beak..too cute!
I miss seeing mine however I am sure I will be fascinated by the many I will no doubt see here in the Arizona desert and surroundings..I look forward to our many visits in the future! Nice meeting you hugs NG.
Hopefully, if you pass back through on your way home the weather will be better...although in the northern part I wouldn't bet on it. My part of the state gets the least snow :-)
Your bird pictures today are terrific, Mary! I think it's definitely a brown creeper too. Have only had one here in 20 years, that I've seen anyway.
The video showed the feistiness of those finches so well--they are not good at sharing!
Mary-
What a nice variety of birds you have that visit your feeders! Great find of the brown creeper, they really do blend into the bark. I like your mockingbird shot as well!
Tom
Brucesc...thanks! Those wire feeders are really good for a changing variety. The finches all want on so badly, they barely have time to eat a seed! The goldfinches really like the feeder made from the 2-liter bottle, too. I need more of those...cheap and recycles a useless bottle! Of course when it isn't snowing they all aren't quite so frantic!
Tom, Thanks for stopping by! I really do have a nice selection at this time of year...especially in the snow. I would love to see that creeper better, but he seems to want to stay on that one big tree and my lens is just not good enough (or I don't know enough adjustments :-) to zero in better on him. May have to turn the camera over to hubby the next time I see it.
