  1. Om nom nom: Curry Cheese Baked Rice

    Wednesday, 15 August 2012

If you remember our previous post where we went to JCube for lunch before popping by BioRhythm at the Science Centre. There's this 茶餐厅, or HongKong style cafe called Kungfu Paradies, and one of the dishes was their Babe, or curry cheese baked rice.
We really missed it, and since it didn't seem all that hard, why not try it at home? The process is relatively simple. This dish requires an oven as well oven safe dishes. We decided to skip the process of preparing the curry ourselves, so we went to get those ready made Japanese curry packs available at any supermarket. Since this was going to be a vegetarian dish, we decided to add some Champignons for some 口感, or crunchy feel.

    The ingredients needed are...
    • Rice (Japanese or Normal, by preference)
    • Cheese (Grated, Mozarella or Parmesan, we aren't really picky when it comes to cheese)
    • Champignons
    • Vegetarian chicken cutlet
    • 1 large egg
We have two versions. I added Cheesedale Cheese to mine to make it more cheesy whilst Sheena's just had plain Mozarella. To be truthful, there wasn't much difference.
My friends commented that it so doesn't look vegetarian, BUT IT IS! Though we just had it over the weekend, we're already craving for it because it tasted so awesome. Think we just might be making this for lunch again really soon =)

  2. Teppanyaki!!!

    Friday, 3 August 2012

Last weekend, I prepared Teppanyaki for Kerwyn because how good can the food be in camp isn't it? No lah, actually its because I've been saying I wanna prepare this for him since CNY (hurhur... i know right...) but I tu~ until now...
We actually had our teppanyaki on Saturday but my mum thought we didn't eat so she prepared teppanyaki again on Sunday!
Most important thing that I have to prepare: Chilli! My boy likes to eat mix stuff with chilli so here's a special chilli sauce! Sambal chilli + Chilli padi + Lime + Dark soya sauce! It's really spicy but shiok~!!
Salted butter is like a must have for teppanyaki! We ate like 150g of butter!!! Fattening but it makes everything yummy!!
Vegetable soup with lots of egg tofu!!
Different kind of mushrooms!! I must say I've never eaten so much mushrooms for a meal before but they taste so good with butter, especially golden mushroom!!
     Vegetarian ingredients!
Looks yummy hor? Can't wait for the next teppanyaki session~! :D

  3. Om nom nom nivore!

    Wednesday, 11 July 2012

As the saying goes "The way to a man's heart, is through his stomach". And definitely true for me! Luckily, Smallhello is a wonderful cook as well as an avid baker! Western, Chinese, Japanese styles of vegetarian cooking, cookies, cakes, pastries are also under her belt! We are by no means lacking in terms of gastronomical delight in our lives.

Since we seldom see each other during school term, she tries her best to cook for me every weekend! And even though I always suggest the same old dishes, she insists on cooking new ones! Some of the "repeated" dishes are...
Fried rice and Bee Tai Mak
A combination of dishes which increases your appetite for rice! Breaded fried fish on the top left, tom yum on the top right, marinated chicken on the bottom left and the last one a combination of fish slices, egg tofu, and curry vegetables!

Some of the more epic dishes whipped up on special events like monthsaries include...
A lot of hard work and creativity put into a Japanese set meal!
    Pizza and Potato Gratin

I have a role to play in that pizza too! Isn't it hard to believe that all these dishes are actually vegetarian? Well they are, and pretty delicious too! Since young she has been obligated to cook, and that's why she has experience in this area, and she enjoys it too. As mentioned, she doesn't just enjoy cooking but baking too! She continuously searches for recipes online and modifies it to suit my taste. Birthdays, anniversaries, or even when I just have a craving, a cake, cookie is definitely going to show up.

Heart shaped Nutella cookies modelled after Milano's and Choc Chip Cookies!
Viennese Fingers Dipped in Choc and Oreo Cheesecake
Last but not least, Molten lava baby cake and Milo Doggie Biscuits

All these goodies only come with one undesirable side effect - weight gain! Nevertheless I'm super lucky to have a capable chef/baker/patissier in my life! Om nom nom will never be a problem =)
