LORD Mandelson has disclosed that he is ready to accept a job under a future Conservative government.

In an interview with The Sunday Times magazine, the business secretary said he would be willing to put his “experience at the disposal of the country”, if Labour lost power. “As I grow older, I can imagine more ways of serving my country than simply being a party politician,” he said.

The Tories yesterday did not rule out making an offer to Mandelson. However there remains deep mistrust between the Conservative leadership and the colourful business secretary.

Tories Attacked Over Links to Party That Honours Waffen SS

A party that honours Latvia’s Waffen SS veterans was named among David Cameron’s new allies, as the Conservatives identified members of their anti- federalist group in the European Parliament.

One MEP from Latvia’s For Fatherland and Freedom Party (LNNK) will be among the 55 MEPs from eight countries in the European Conservatives and Reformists group, which the Tory leader pledged to form during his leadership campaign in 2005.

Top Tory's Role at Firm That Plugs Labour Health Policy

The row over lucrative second jobs held by David Cameron’s front bench took an embarrassing twist last night after it was revealed that the Shadow Health Secretary is a director of a marketing agency that helps to mount Government health campaigns.

Andrew Lansley, who annoyed the Tory leader last month by writing that recession ‘can be good for us’, works four days a year at Profero, which has won contracts including the ‘talk to Frank’ anti-drugs campaign and the £372million anti-obesity drive.

The party refused to say how much Mr Lansley earned for the post but stressed his contract states his role should not conflict with his political duties.

The revelation – seized on by Labour – will confirm Mr Cameron’s fears that ‘moonlighting’ by 16 of the 22 members of his Shadow Cabinet could be a liability.

Multi-millionaire Nat Rothschild 'Behind Osborne's £200,000 Gift'

Shadow Chancellor George Osborne was embroiled in a new row last night over claims that multi-millionaire playboy and financier Nat Rothschild was responsible for bankrolling him with nearly £200,000 of funding.
Authoritative sources close to Mr Rothschild, a friend and ally of Peter Mandelson, say a £190,000 donation to Mr Osborne's office last year - declared as coming from Lady Serena Rothschild - was paid because she was urged to do so by her son, Nat.
