Card Patterns #24

A great sketch, again, at CP this week. I've used some old and new stuff on this one. This card just reeks summertime to me. I am IN LOVE with all of my flip flops (especially my Auburn ones!), so I had to use this really cool flip flop sentiment tag. Be sure to head over to Card Patterns (http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2009/07/sketch-25-and-some-great-news.html)
and check out the eye candy from the DT. Thanks for stopping by today :)

CP Sketch #21 and The Pink Elephant #21

Card Patterns has got an 'ausome' sketch this week!! Here's the sketch:

Told ya! Also, The Pink Elephants Challenge #21 is "Your Favorite Color Combo". So, I used some yummy papers that I recently won in some blog candy. Evidently this blue and green combo is now my fav :) I cut the scallops with the Cricut using Plantin Schoolbook. Then I added some embossing to it with the Cuttlebug. The image and sentiment are from Pink Petticoat. I printed it twice and cut out part of it from the second copy. I colored the image with Sharpies, added some stickles to the cupcake and some Glossy Accents to the cherry. Then I pop dotted the cupcake and cherry to add some dimension. I added some yummy ribbon and some cute little flowers from Flora Doodles. So, this one is for a friend's daughter for her birthday. Hope she likes it. Thanks for stopping by today!

"I've Been Framed" and CP#20

Well, I needed a last minute birthday card for a VERY special person and today's 365Cards and Card Patterns challenges fit the bill. Day #118 at 365 Cards is "I've Been Framed". You must use a frame on your card. The Card Patterns sketch lent me the opportunity to use scallops, so I used a scallop frame cut from Mini Monograms (Cricut). The papers were part of a pack that I won in some blog candy and I'm not sure who the mfg is, but I LOVE this paper!! The owl and branch were cut from the same paper. I added some cute pompom trim and a little bling for the owl eyes. The sentiment is computer generated. Guess who it's for? Thanks for stopping by today!

A little notebook and a blog change

So, I made this notebook for a friend's daughter's birthday. Her name is Heather and she is a working mom with a little girl that's about 18 months old. So, I thought "this crazy life" was the perfect quote on this book! Heather's birthday was yesterday, so I know it's safe now to post her little gift.

Next.........have you noticed the changes to my blog? My header and my sidebar headings have been updated AND I have a "link to me" button (grab the code and add it to your blog if you'd like). My daughter-in-law, Bekah, gave me the name of a friend of hers and within just a couple of days, my blog was done!! Her friends name is Rachel and I think she did a FABULOUS job with my blog! I'm soooo happy with it! Now, Rachel is just getting started with "blog makeover's", so I'm not really advertising that for her as of now, but I do wish you would visit HER blog. She is a mom that works from home and she has some of THE BEST stories and "helpful hints" about raising children (and other things). So, do yourself a favor and give her a visit. You'll be glad you did! Check her out here: http://www.graspingforobjectivity.com/

Let me know what you think of my blog changes. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday for Dad

No challenge card today, just a birthday card for a friend's dad. The paper, circle and tag is Heidi Swapp - World Traveler. I added some twine and a little bling. Quick post tonight as I was late getting home. My local "pretty paper store" is closing and I'm devastated about it! I went by and took advantage of the 50% and 75% off closing sale. I got some great buys, but I'm still sad about the closing. Now I will be held hostage by Michael's and Hobby Lobby. However, I did find out that a new JoAnn's is opening, so I'm anxious to visit. Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

365 Cards, Days 44 and 47 Scor-it!

Well, I'm quite behind on 365 cards, but I was able to complete 2 of the Scor-It cards. My first one is for Day #44 - Money Holder. My youngest son turned 19 this week and planned a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia with some friends. Well, he needed a card and he needed money, so this was the perfect opportunity for the "money holder" card. I found the 6 Flags image and the map on the net and went with it. Sorry for the pic - had to take it on the kitchen table!

My next card is for Day #47 - "Pop-up Card". A friend of mine asked me to make a card for his daughter's birthday. She will be turning 10 years old and she is getting a hamster for her birthday. He wanted me to incorporate a hamster on the card, so here is my creation. I found the 'perfect' image for this one! I hope she'll like it. Thanks for stopping by!

Sketchy Sunday at 365 Cards

Well, I still wasn't feeling too well this morning, but as they day went on I got back on my feet again. So, I needed to do a card for a friend's daughter who is having her 3rd birthday this week. She is a little ballerina, so I had to use that as a starting point for her card. The image is from Steve O'Connell. It's a pencil drawing, so I printed it and did a little chalking. Then, I added some irridescent glitter to the little tutu. (If you click on the photo, you can see it close up). I've used Basic Grey papers and the Martha Stewart lace punch. The color in the photo is weird, but the background paper is sort of mauvy/purple and the others are a mixture of pink, black and purple. The "S" was cut with Cricut's Alphalicious. Her name is Savannah. Don't you just love that name?! I think Savannah will love the little tutu and the bling I've added. I did this one based on the sketch at 365 Cards today. So, thanks for stopping by!

Imagine This................"Water"

Well, today starts a new month at 365 Cards. Today's challenge is to use water as the basis of your card. Well, since I just purchased the new Cricut cartridge "Life is a Beach", I had the perfect die cuts for this one. First, I used a white card base and added chalking to represent my sun and sky. Then, I added some papers to represent the sand and water. The chair, umbrella and seagulls were cut from the cartridge. I added some very fine glitter to the seagulls. This will most likely be a birthday card, telling the recipient to relax and enjoy the day. I wanted to keep it simple so it gives the feeling of relaxation. Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by!

I'm Rounding the Corner.......365, Day #31

I can't believe we're at the end of our first month with 365 Cards!! If you haven't checked out the site yet, you are REALLY missing out on a good thing! My card box is filling up fast. THIRTY ONE cards done this month!!! Whew! Anyway, today's challenge is to make a card with only rounded edges. I used a .cut file that I downloaded from Capadia Designs. I cut the design in half after cutting it and viola! (I saw this on the Capadia site and loved hers!). This size is perfect for a 6X6 envie. The SG and Sweet Girl was cut from Graphically Speaking (Cricut). I also added the little pearls in all of the scallops. This is not my favorite card, but my mojo is not on target tonight. It's been a long work day! So, thanks for stopping by! (Can't wait for tomorrow and the beginning of another month of card designs!).

Super Sketchy Sunday, Day #29

Today is Super Sketchy Sunday at 365 Cards. I wasn't in a "pretty" mood today, so I did something a little bolder and brighter. All of the cuts were from my Cricut (Graphically Speaking & Mini Monograms). Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Here is the sketch:

2 Challenges...

I missed yesterday's 365 Cards challenge, so I'm playing catchup today. Yesterday's challenge was "Touchy Feely Friday". We were asked to use 3 kinds of texture on our cards. I've used some crimped craft paper for my background (1); I ran some metal thru my Cuttlebug for a textured plate (2); and I've added twine and some buttons (3,4). So, I got it done with one extra texture. (oh - I also sanded the crimped paper to add a little more texture). I love cards and LO's with texture, so I really liked this challenge. I think this would make a good "male" card.
I'm also using this for Recipe #41 at Sketches by Tamara. I think it fits the 3 items of this recipe: (1) a male card, (2) metal (3) Grungy!

Next up is today's challenge at 365 Cards - "Scraplift Yourself". We were asked to create a card based on a scrapbook layout that we've done. Well, I've been working on a book for a friend so I've used an LO from that book for this challenge. The little girl is Morgan and she is too cute! I've used a couple of pp's on my card and some chipboard letters. I sanded the letters to add a little texture. I think it's a good match to the LO. What do you think? Here is the layout:

Color Me Anything but THAT!!

At 365 cards today we were asked to make a card using a color that we don't use very often. Well, yellow is my color. I'm not sure why. I love bananas, the sun, corn, but I don't like scrapping with yellow. Well, I did it. I used a vellum sentiment and held it down with a chipboard piece from Basic Grey. I added a couple of little pearls to hold down the other end. Maybe muting the yellow with the vellum helped how I looked at it. I kept this card simple because of the sentiment. So, maybe yellow isn't so bad after all. This is why I love 365 Cards. They really challenge you every day to something new and different. Thanks for stopping by and click on my title and go check out 365 Cards today!

Day 25! "Ad Inspired"

I can't believe it's been 25 days already at 365 cards!! Well, today was another FAB challenge. We were to make a card based on this ad:

Well, I immediately new the perfect papers for this one.....KI Memories. So, I layered two patterned papers and then cut the flowers out of the KI Memories paper. Love that paper!! I added a little sentiment (by Basic Grey) and there you have it! Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Setting the Scene

Day 24 at 365 Cards is "Setting the Scene" and we were asked to do a card with a nature scene. Well, this is my take on it. The tree and the squirrel were cut from Happily Ever After and the flowers from Walk in My Garden (cricut carts). I added some stickles to the flowers. The green pp is MME, Wild Asparagus. I've got Day #25 card to do, so I'm keeping this one short. Thanks for stopping by! (Click on the title and go check out Krista (guest designer) and Tammy's (365 Design Team) cards!

Laura's Sketch #22

At 2S4U this week, it is Laura's turn and her sketch #22 is Fabalicious! My card base looks black in the pic, but it's actually navy blue. The pp and the little apple are from October Afternoon. (love it, love it, wish I had more of it!!). I did some stitching on this card, but am I ever going to get it straight?! However, I think that sometimes it doesn't look that bad if it's messy. Kinda adds to the card, don't ya think? Be sure to go over and see Laura's card this week and all of the DT cards............PURE EYE CANDY!!! (Just click on the title above). Thanks for stopping by!

365 X2

I've got two 365 Cards today. I missed yesterday as I was having Cricut trouble. Turns out it was the cartridge and not my precious Expression. I'm so thankful!! So, yesterday's challenge at 365 was "Keep it to Yourself". We were to convey the birthday message in pictures and no sentiment on the front of the card. So, I used my Celebrations cartridge for the cut, my Fiskars border punch, a little ribbon, some rikrak and a few buttons.

Today's 365 challenge is "Inside Out". We were to keep the outside of the card simple and decorate the inside. It's like opening a present with the surprise on the inside. So, I went back to the Cricut and used the Animal Kingdom cartridge for my little fish and the grass. I ran two of the fish thru the Cuttlebug and added their little eyes. Not sure why I'm using so much orange these days, but I love this color!! (Could it be it's one of the colors of my Auburn Tigers??). The sentiment is also cut from Animal Kingdom. Thanks for stopping by today!

Buttons & Bows

It's buttons and bows at 365 Cards today. We are to use 3 bottons and 3 bows. I needed to do a birthday card for a friend who LOVES frogs. So, this is my take on today's challenge. The image is from Pink Petticoat. The scalloped circle was cut with the Cricut using the Mini Monograms cartridge. I'm not sure if the picture does this image justice. It has quite a bit of stickles on it and it really does shine. Thanks for stopping by today!

365 DIY

Today's challenge at 365Cards is DIY. Make your own flowers. So, I cut some flowers out of some beautiful pp from Paper Studio. I added some stems and a "wish" and done! I wanted to make this one simple so that pretty pp would stand out. So....I left the background white. I can't believe I kept up on 365 this week. Sometimes it's a struggle, but it's well worth it in the end. Well, thanks for stopping by! Going to play with Maggie now cause she leaves tomorrow :(
