Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

There's one Finnish alternative band that I could listen to on and on and I'm naturally speaking of Lasten Hautausmaa whom were performing here last Saturday to our delight. The gig was one of the best I have seen from them and I sensed the other people agree with me. I've seen the band many times and they have always been spectacular. I don't listen to much Finnish music, but there are a few bands which have stolen my heart for good.
Two gig weekends in a row and there is coming many interesting events this year. I know I can't attend them all which is pity. Myrkur was performing in Helsinki last weekend and that would have been very welcome too. I hope I get a chance to see her in the future.
One classy outfit from the previous week. I have been wearing high heels indoors at home just for practicing for the summer! I like winter especially now when there is a lot of snow, but unconsciously I'm dreaming of the spring and it's been quite vernal weather off and on. Birds have sung and even the sun gleamed through the clouds.
Shoes: Second hand Minna Parikka, Shirt and skirt: Flea market, Necklace: from WGT
I'll travel to my folks on Friday to see my brother's prom. I can't believe that fourteen years have passed since my prom! It sounds awful because it feels that my prom was yesterday.... However I have a chance to admire dresses. I guess the fashion has changed a little bit since I was dancing. I had black velvet corset top without bones and long dark wine red taffeta skirt and black tulle on it. The dress was nice and I could wear it these days too except that I have gained over ten kilos and it's too small nowadays (I was really skinny as a teen). The dress is still in a store at my folks. I would share a pic, but I have none.

Dance D'Amour

I've had really nice weekend although everything feels surrealistic due to the changes (at work) which are coming.  On Friday night I was tired, but I went to see Helsinki Vampires despite everything. I have been nowhere during January so it was nice to get out although the next day was a workday. My boyfriend continued the evening till the light signal with his friends and  band members (they know each others behind the years), but I needed to head for sleeping. Unfortunately. I liked the gig and it's always a pleasure to see them.

In addition I've been reading Edgar Allan Poe after a long time. I have a few pieces on my own bookshelf and I return to them from time to time. Gloomy stories what else a man needs?
An outfit from Thursday. An old shirt, self made skirt and second hand belt.

A short post, but my mind wanders on its own level right now. ;)

Tuska 20th Anniversary

A recent week has been really tough due to the tragedy which faced my family a week ago and my summer vacation has been everything but great, but we will rise and there has already been some light in the end of the dark tunnel literally! And of course I mean mr. Valo. I ended up going to Tuska festival just the same and that was a good choice. I really liked festival and this was most likely the last chance to see HIM. I'm a bit disappointed  that they quit, but that information didn't really surprise me. There has a space and time for everything and every story has the end.

If I describe their show in a few words it was a really typical gig from HIM. I have seen them several times and always the same style. Ville didn't leak too many words out between the songs. Just a few "thank you" comments and that was nearly everything. But I was really happy with the song choices. They played all hits and some elder production which is closer to my heart than those newer songs. I do hope that Ville keep up making the new music in the future. He is too talented to stop. Were you there and what did you like the gig?

I arrived at Helsinki early so I had nicely time to visit a photography exhibition by Juurikkala. The pictures were nice, but not really that special or creative in the end. Just the typical band photos.

In addition I enjoyed the gigs of Impaled Nazarene, Mokoma, Electric Wizard and Amorphis. A day passed quickly and I returned back to Tampere in the night or it was nearly morning and I was dead tired after the day. Fortunately my beloved was waiting for me at home and I got to sleep by him. My first intention was to stay Helsinki, but I changed the plan after realizing that it is possible to get Tampere by a train.

Black salvation

Hello! It's Easter weekend and I don't have any special plans for it. Yesterday I was about to go see Lasten Hautausmaa, but a bed won at this time which is kind of a shame. They are super cool group with melancholic songs, but I felt too exhausted to go out last night. To be honest I have visited the gigs every week and there would be one also this night, but I'm considering to overtake it too. Besides I have to go to the work in the morning.
I went to see my old favorite band Sara last weekend and enjoyed their show much although the new songs and their new style isn't that good what it was during the first three albums. To my delight they also played elder production.  I used to listen to them a lot as a teen and later I visited several times their gigs as well. If I remember correct, the last time I saw them was in 2008. However I didn't know they still exist and I hadn't listened to them for ages. I kind of found them again. I recommend to listen to the first three albums which are available also on Spotify these days. Their new style is much lighter and includes more electronic sounds. I could say it's more 'radio friendly'.
Yesterday's outfit
I didn't remember this skirt at all which I made for graduation ceremony in 2012. I found it in my wardrobe and decided to put on yesterday. I could start to wear it more again. It's nice and always stylish.

One book that I finished a few days ago. This was interesting and not a"storybook" as some biographies can sometimes be if you understand what I mean. I have read a lot of biographies especially musicians' and sometimes they are so colored that a man must be a damn stupid to believe everything what the covers keep inside.

Hope you all have a nice weekend. I keep up being lazy and keep up playing of Sims. Perhaps I try to finish the new corset too. And okay, I borrowed a few super interesting books today from library so my evening is saved!

I can´t sleep through dead dreams

I had a weekend of musically interest for I headed to a goth club Bella Morte on Friday which was by the way the international emb day and Saturday offered a few cover bands. I was so dead after work day on Friday that I nearly passed the whole club, but fortunately I was lured to attend and besides it was the last Bella Morte club which is a bit shame. There were three live emb bands playing which was nice. All of them were unknown to me, but it didn't bother at all. Clubs are always so much better if there is live music, not only dj.
On Saturday I took my camera with me and headed to see my boyfriend's new cover band and Varietee83. Both sounded awesome and audience seemed to like too.
An outfit from weekend. I found my old necklace which I once nearly threw away, but decided to keep it in the end and that's good. It fits nicely together with the striped dress.
I have been drinking way too much coffee to keep myself awake recently. Four cups in a day would be enough, but I have crossed the line badly.
I added live photos to my facebook page if you are eager to see. Click! I try to activate myself and update the page more when this haste gets easier.

You want it darker

The other day I wrapped this lovely self made poncho around me. It's an eye candy, but slightly impractical with the overcoats, but I don't mind. Something black, graphic and simple what else I could need? Well a lot. My old combat boots are ready to be buried and yesterday I visited a few stores through to get the new ones, but with a bad luck so far. It seems to be a challenge to find the decent winter boots which looks good. I bumped into some pairs which looked nice, but they were  more for the fall. I would like to have a pair of combat boots, but also some leather boots with a small heel would be more as welcome. I have also done a bunch of clothing sketches because I also need shirts or dresses with the long sleeves. Time to update a wardrobe and shoe collection.
Speaking of the eye candy here is something ear candy to you. I have listened to a lot Leonard Cohen recently and his new album is gorgeous masterpiece. A voice behind the grave goes through a soul.

The Cure

A few words about the Cure concert which was about a week ago in Helsinki. Finally I got a chance to see my favorite band or should I say listen to their live show because we had quite a poor view from the back seats. This of course flattened a bit the atmosphere because I'm that  visual person that I always want to see what's going on on the stage and now we only saw that there is some people on the stage.. even those screens were fairly poor or the cameramen showed all the time the same view. I would have wanted the tickets to the floor, but even if I tried to be quick they managed to go. However the show was something once in a lifetime to me who has loved their music since I was a teen and dreamed for so many years that I could breath the same air with Robert...  The band played a lot of their pop songs which didn't surprise me at all, but fortunately they played also some my faves like: Forest, Lovesong, Burn and Disintegration. Though I like more their songs which involve melancholy and minor chords also those more happier pop songs worked fine. Robert's voice was still fresh even if the man has some years behind him. By the way my boyfriend saw the Cure already when they visited Finland the last time in the year 1996! I'm a bit  jealous to him about that experience. But I was nine-years-old those days and I wasn't even aware of the whole group.
Albeit I'm not the best friend with arena shows the event will be one immemorial experience in my life.

Lumous Gothic Festival: Saturday

On Saturday I headed to Dark Market where I spent only for a quick moment because I wanted to go say hello to my sweetie who was suffering from a flu at home. Here is a picture how I looked a daytime until it was a time to put on something more macabre for the club ;D The weather was sunny for once which was nice.
Dress: Second hand: Shoes: From Germany, Bag: Flea market, Necklace: From WGT

The music lines of the night was good: Naevus, Two Witches and Aesthetic Perfection. Only Naevus was new to me. Every goth in Finland knows Two Witches and I had chance to see Aesthetic Perfection already in Germany earlier this year, but it was even better here at the club which was more intimate as the huge Agra hall.
Two Witches
Aesthetic Perfection
All bands sounded good and my night was successful. Greetings for you all who came to say hello to me over the weekend!

After Saturday there was a one night left when I went to End club which was a highlight of the whole event. A shame for those who didn't attend. I don't have pictures from there because photography was out of bound for a reason that people were dancing on the tables without their clothes....  Great weekend, great people, great parties!

Lumous Gothic Festival: Friday

Well hello! Still alive after all merrymaking and sleepless nights and all I can say that it is the spectacular weekend behind me. Lumous Gothic Festival is a local and biggest goth event in Finland which takes its place at Tampere in July. For me it's a great thing that it's arranged here so I don't need to travel for it to attend. It's a city festival which means that here is a bunch of different happenings around the city.

Here is a few shots I took during the Friday. I didn't take pictures about the people which is a bit shame. My focus was on drinking this time and besides the weather was too dark on Friday that even my outfit pictures were almost all stripey. Someone asked me recently is it always this rainy in Finland and I would like to answer yes; sometimes this country reminds me of Mordor.

I was a lazy once again and didn't sew anything new for Lumous although I had some ideas drifting in my mind. But on the other hand the closet is filled with nice garments so why to sew more? I was about to put on the long skirt on Friday, but because it was so wet ground I ended up wearing this costume. ( I didn't count how many comments I received while walking through the city those horns on me "oh there goes a satan!" )
On Friday there was playing Swedish Canis Lupus which was delicious and wanted option among those industrial bands. I like industrial, but I appreciate always more traditional music.
Corset: Diy, Skirt: From London, Shoes: Pennangalan, Bag: Flea market, Necklace: Ebay, Horns: Diy, Tights: Lindex
Shiv-r was the new band to me. I managed to listen to them a bit before the gig so the songs were a little bit familiar and it was a positive surprise. I enjoyed their show.
Thanks Niina for the outfit pictures!

This Monday will be long. I have a workday this evening and I was celebrating till the light signal last night, but the End club was so good that I didn't have a heart to go home earlier.

Mambo Jones

A day before the year turned I headed to see Mambo Jones to Vastavirta. They play punk rock that put your mind in a good mood with Finnish lyrics. Here are a few shots I took:
