March

It seems that I have had loads of things to do during a week for this post has been waiting in drafts since last Sunday. Well yes I have been sewing this week and I try to introduce my newest creation as soon as possible. Atypically it's something else as black this time, perhaps that coming spring has affected my mind unconsciously. Usually in the spring time I find  'the colors'. A year ago I made a silver dress if you remember.

But can't say that the spring would be coming... it's been over -20 degrees deep frost every morning and I can't see a change coming. Amount of light has increased nicely which is really good and practical thing. I like when there is the nature light at hand after works so that it's possible to photograph.
An outfit from last Sunday. Self made velvet shirt behind the years.
I've also read a lot and to be honest I could read all the time. A week ago I had that tiny flu so I spent the whole weekend by reading. It's hard to choose which of the book to read when there is so many good opuses.. Coffee and the books.. what else a man can wish? (well perhaps potato chips.. I'm hooked to vinegar chips, before I hated them)
I will spend the next weekend in Helsinki and looking forward to it! These days I visit so rarely there which is pity. I try to pay a visit to some museums and Destiny store which is my favorite boutique although I never have a heart to buy anything from there. I do hope that the week goes quickly so that I get to venture on the streets of Helsinki. I should also start planning on the trip to Prague. My friend lives in Czech and I have had a plan to visit Prague for a good time...

'You put me outside, I was singing a song, You looked to the window But I was already gone'

Days seems to run from my view uncontrollably and one of my favorite month is nearly gone. Trees are changing their attires and I've been hunting haze views with my camera in the mornings. I would love to take the pictures about the thick fog, but so far the luck hasn't found me.

Last weekend we went to see a few gigs once again; Lasten Hautausmaa and Grave Pleasures. I hadn't seen Grave Pleasures before and actually I realized the singer's previous project Beastmilk is more familiar to me. However I enjoyed both shows. Lasten Hautausmaa never betray; one of my favorite band and by the way my beloved was that kind that he ordered their  newest vinyl to me because it was still missing.

A few outfit pictures which were taken last week when we went for a walk. I was wearing a self made velvet coat which is the perfect coat for fall.
I've spent most of my days at beloved's place by reading and resurrecting the skills of drawing. I have become more familiar with Arthur Rimbaud's poetry who was a genius of his own time. It's also nice that the inspiration for drawing is growing! I could draw a tattoo sketch and make an appointment.

Taivaani on synkempi kuin sinun

I've been burying myself in different books recently when there is finally more spare time and even those days when I don't have to go work at all, so what could be better as read interesting pieces and escape the reality. I got a recommendation about this one:  Täältä Pohjoiseen which is based on the band named Sentenced. A day later I stomped into a library and twelve hours later I was already read it. It was simply awesome. I used to listen to them a lot as a teen and I hadn't heard about the book until my boyfriend , who was informed by his friend, told me.. The pithy story about the one successful Finnish band who left so much potential without using. I managed to see them in 2005 which was the year when they finished. I remember when they carried the coffin onto the stage to emphasize that this is the end now. It was quite hilarious. The less hilarious was when their guitarist and composer was told to die a few years after. End of the road so to say.
Another book which I found by accident was Kurt Cobain's diaries. That's meant more for real diggers I think. It includes a lot of lyrics and some messy thoughts. Didn't offer much new information, but was enough interesting so I went it through.
These happy slogans carry the story forward
So that the whole blog wouldn't only be about the books here is the outfit from yesterday. This awesome dress I found in Germany a few years ago and I should definitely wear it more!

Ghost stories

Today was my only day off on this week and the day has gone so quickly although I woke up early. On the other hand the whole week has gone in a speed of light once again. I decided to stay just home today and spend the quality time on my own. My other half left Turku so this plan was more than fine. What does that mean then... well playing of Sims, reading and drinking too many cups of coffee and pole dancing. Relaxing day which was needed.

My outfit from Friday: I bought that shirt some time ago and I like it much. I've worn it often though I haven't shown it here earlier. The classic Joy Division shirt which every goth should own.
I bought a bunch of books a few days ago from sale and this one is definitely interesting. The ghost stories from Finland. I watched this earlier, but I didn't have a heart to buy it. Now it cost just a few coins so I took it without a doubt. The book displays places which are known to me like cities where I have been living. Some stories I have heard before, but most of them are new. I recommend it you all who are interested in the ghosts and stories.
While reading this I started to think my own experience about supernatural, but unfortunately I need to state that I don't have any remarkable stories to tell. When I was a kid I saw a cat in our yard and it looked exactly like my old cat who was already passed away those days. I went to see closer and it disappeared behind the corner and when I run to see it, it was gone. That's the only story and I remember when I thought what the hell I just saw. But I believe it was our neighbor's cat because I'm too rationalist to believe in the ghosts and wanted to give some reasonable explanation to my view. Then I have heard steps at my folk's house which is the old wooden house and saw how the doors move etc. Small things, but they all seem to be happening in a same place..  My mom has seen some omens and it is quite scary. Kind of it would be nice to see them, but then again I'm kind of happy that I don't have that ability.  Do you have any supernatural experiences?

Beyond the dark veil

The things that were normal before feel abnormal these days. As you may know it was quite conventional to immortalize a picture about a dead relative in the 19th and 20th century. People were willing to have a last memory about a person who was left this world behind. The pictures were often taken  together with a family where the deceased was among the living and these pictures were also displayed. Even people who wasn't rich invited a photographer to home. Nowadays the people photograph their dead relatives quite rarely and it would be macabre to see the picture about the dead on someone's wall. There is several reasons why people have forgotten the habit as urbanization, wars and the death is institutionalized. Nowadays people don't see their dead relatives because the professionals are taking care of them. The death is kind of a taboo and we want to remember our loved ones as living.

Why I'm talking about the subject is this interesting art book which I bumped ages ago and eventually wanted to have it into my own book self: Beyond the dark veil: Post Mortem & Mourning photography from the Thanatos Archive.

The book contains old quality vintage photographs about the people and also about the animals. There is interesting stories behind these pictures for not all demises were natural.
My own favorite is the picture about Kellers: Three in one casket because that hides a shivery story. A woman killed her husband due to his misconduct, and their baby, and in the end herself. And in spite of all they were buried together. That's odd!
I decided to share this book with you because I thought there might be people who want to hear about it. I also understand if some of you think this is too much, and I'm sorry if your eyes saw something they didn't want to.

Love you to death

I'm on a vacation this week and it certainly comes for a need. A tempo of life has been quite tough, and there isn't included much spare time in my days. I don't have any particular plans for the week, but I try to sew, play with a camera (I placed an order for a new lens yesterday and I wish it came soon!!), read some excellent books which I have carried from the library and workout both in the gym and with the pole.
One book which I recently finished is this gorgeous masterpiece which everyone should read especially if you are a fan of Type O Negative. A long waited piece is finally out, and I managed to pick it  from the library.  The book offered a lot of information that I didn't know before hand. It begins from Peter's childhood and ends to the tragic destiny when Peter turns from time to eternity. The end was sad, it's needless to say, and brought tears to my eyes more than once. The book is written by Jeff Wagner who knew to tell that Peter would have wanted to write his own biography himself which of course would have been more authentic, but as we all know it's hard to write anything if you are six feet under. I'm gonna read this later a second time.

The girl in the spider's web

A spunky flu begins to be over and the life starts to gets its potency back. After laying  on a bed for days feels good to be more energetic again and be able to do things. Unfortunately I missed all those interesting events which the last weekend kept inside like The 69 eyes' gig and some other gigs as well, but fortunately there is coming something else this weekend.

Some time ago I placed an order to get the fourth novel of Millennium series: The girl in the spider's web and I've been reading this like an insane. I loved Stieg Larsson's Millennium serie and devoured those books after they were published and although the writer is now a different person the spirit is still addicting. The last hundred pages are left and I know I feel a little bit empty after finishing it.
I found my enthusiasm over the weekend what it comes to drawing and yesterday I decided to buy the new graphic pens because my old ones were made a trick of vanishing or they were worn out. Let's see if I get something to do with the new pens.

Memorias mortuorum

A few page to go and I've finished this quite interesting book which I recently borrowed in my visit a library: Still Alice. It's a story about Alice who finds to know that she has a terrible disease which will destroy her whole life that she has built so hard. Alice is fifty-years-old psychology professor at Harvard, a mom to her adult children and a loving wife to her husband. So to say: She is perfect. She is proud of her successful career, her intelligence and her linguistic abilities which all are everything to her - until the doctor tells that she has an early-onset Alzheimer's disease which will take everything away from her a piece by piece until there is left a body without the mind.

I ended up reading the book for a reason that I've always been interested in neurological and mental diseases and recently I've been working with patients who has Alzheimer diagnose. I also watched the film which followed the plot quite well. At least this story let me think how quickly everything can change and everything you appreciate can disappear. Somehow Alice even annoyed me a little bit, she was too perfect and it felt that she has got everything. She also tried to push her life style to her daughter who wanted to follow her heart to become an actor - not academic - and I hate the persons who act this way. All in all the book was a tragic  story  inside the beautiful frames about the life with Alzheimer's disease - and it made me doubt that I have it too. I forget things all the time and my memory has always been like a slow hard disk which is stuck every now and then. If someone tells me to go buy three things... I probably remember two of them.

The Art of Alice

Good evening! I decided to take a few picture of my source of inspiration and share it with you. Like you may know I've played Alice Madness Returns game and some time ago I bumped into the wonderful art book in  a library which is based on that gorgeous game. This book is pure love and I get much good vibes every time I riffle through it. I wish I could get this masterpiece into my own bookshelf. The drawing technique is a bit similar I prefer to use myself so perhaps that's why the book pleases my eyes and of course it's dark enough ;)  Here are a few shots I took:

Fragile dreams

It's a good moment to sum up a week when there is only a few hours left of it. Nothing specific happened though. I've visited swimming and gym and the weekend went just at home alone with the good music and book. What else an introvert can wish? ;D Of course I spent also some hours at work. In addition I've dreamed of a dog a lot! My beloved is probably quite bored with hearing my stories about the dogs and how I repeat the sentence "I wanna have a dog"  in a manic way. I would have liked to get Labrador now in the spring, but because I'll spend my whole summer at shift work and I don't have a proper holiday, I decided it's better to wait a year. Until then I can only admire  puppy pictures from the Internet.

Today I visited a bar when we had a mini meet-up there and here is the look I wore:
A dress from the Stone Age like also are those tights, Vagabond's shoes and a fringed bag.
Dress: GT
Bag: H&M
Shoes: Vagabond
Necklace: Etsy
Rings: Ebay
Hope you all had a nice weekend! I will keep up reading of the book and drinking of tea while listening to some good songs.

An outfit for Gothnic

Last Sunday was the last day of Lumous and I decided to go to the picnic which is also called 'gothnic'  to the nearby park. The end club of the whole festival was arranged in the evening, but I had to pass them due to the early morning.  Fortunately the weather was good so we had a nice picnic at the park. I guess, I dwelled on there for a few hours until I continued the evening with my beloved.

I wore my self made lace dress with a hat, boots, fishnets and new bag.
Dress: Diy, Necklace: Etsy, Shoes: Vagabond, Bag: WGT, Ring: Etsy, Bracelet: Queen of Darkness
I hadn't any plans for this weekend and it feels good. I have had quite busy days recently so I can't hope anything else, but time for myself. I visited a library on Thursday evening and I borrowed a bunch of books as Ministry: The Lost Gospels According to AL Jourgensen which I've read once before when it was published a few years back. In addition I've been listening to the music out loud and I did also pole dance in a long time. It's a shame, I don't have time to train more nowadays. I would like to train at least two times per week, but now I've trained once in a month :<

Something transparent between us

Instead of a gym I decided to be lazy and stay home and show you my day's outfit which is again something black and simple. A bat knitting is a second hand finding and I like it a lot due to the sleeves.
I decided to get the last two parts of fifty shades trilogy when there was take three pay two offer at the bookstore. I can't say these are something worth reading, but I went them through for all that. At least it doesn't bother if the mind wanders in another dimension betweentimes when the plot is not too complicated to follow.
My weekend rolled by sewing and I have nearly finished a new garment and I can't wait to get to reveal it. In a long time I enjoyed sewing. I haven't sewn anything for a while due to the busy schedule, but now there is coming a few projects! I know that some of you have asked for showing my sewing projects, but I have been just too busy or my inspiration has been hiding somewhere under the ground.
