Neon Leopard

Hi there!

I decided I wanted to match my outfit today, so I added a leopard print to yesterday's manicure...

My nails painted with Orly - Glowstick and
China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy.
Stamped with Konad M57.

I used Konad's special black polish to stamp the print and then I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite.

Now this is what I call a fun manicure! What do you think?

Until next time...

Highlighter Explosion

Hi there!

It's been dreary outside lately where I live, so I figured why not offset the weather with a bright manicure!? ...

My nails painted with Orly - Glowstick and
China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy.

I painted 1 coat of OPI's Alpine Snow before sponging with Glowstick and Flip Flop Fantasy. I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite to achieve what's pictured.

What comforts you on a stormy day?

Until next time...

Pacific Blue Glowstick

Hi there!

I wanted to wear one last "summer" manicure before the weather gets cold and I fall, like so many others, into wearing polish shades that mesh better with the current season...

My nails painted with Sally Hansen - Pacific Blue and
Orly - Glowstick.

I painted a base of white and then painted 1 coat of each polish to achieve what's pictured. The picture looks like the manicure is bright, but in person it's much brighter. I love it :-)

Glowstick wasn't in my collection when I did my neon yellow comparison, but I think that if it was, it'd easily be my favorite. It applied perfectly and dried glossy- just the way I like my neons.

Do you live in a part of the world where you get to experience 4 seasons? Which is your favorite?

Until next time...

Glowstick and Bubbly Bombshell

Hi there!

If this doesn't scream summer, I don't know what does...

My nails painted with Orly - Glowstick and Bubbly Bombshell.

I painted 2 coats of Glowstick as a base for this manicure. Once that was dry, I sponged Bubbly Bombshell onto my nails and then I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite. This was surprisingly quick and easy to achieve, and I'm not sure why I don't do it more often!

What are 2 polishes and/or colors you'd like to try this with?

Until next time...

Retro Summer Neons

Hi there!

I got a handful of the Summer Neons polishes at once and I couldn't decide which to wear first...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Splish Splash, I'm With the Lifeguard,
Sun-Kissed, Orange You Hot?, and Love's a Beach.
Stamped with Konad image plate M65.

... But who's to say I have to choose just one? I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured. All 5 polishes were seemingly thicker than the typical bottle of China Glaze nail polish... but I was sitting directly under my ceiling fan. That very well could have been the reason for the thickness. Minus a couple of mess-ups with my stamping, I enjoy this manicure :-) I topped everything with a coat of Seche Vite.

Are you a seasonal polish wearer? Admittedly, I am... and I'm not yet ready to simmer the brights!

Until next time...

Return Address Labels

Hi there!

I took part in the random manicure challenge with Dana a couple of weeks ago, and this is what I came up with...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Hang-Ten Toes,
I'm With the Lifeguard, and Essie - Chastity.

I painted 2 coats of Hang-Ten Toes before dotting on I'm With the Lifeguard and Chastity to achieve what's pictured.

I think I got lucky... but I know it's because I didn't bring very many bottles of polish with me to keep here. My manicure didn't have much of a chance of being ugly :-) I simply closed my eyes and grabbed 3 bottles. Once I opened my eyes, I knew immediately where I had seen the combination of colors before- and I thought, "why not mimic my return address labels?"

Color Club Sponge

Hi there!

This is how short I chopped my nails after coming back from The Bahamas...

My nails painted with Color Club - The Lime Starts Here and Jackie Oh!

I painted 1 coat of OPI's Alpine Snow onto my nails and then painted The Lime Starts Here and Jackie Oh! onto a piece of sponge. When I sponged the polish onto my nails, they mixed to create an orange color. I like it!

I kept forgetting that The Lime Starts Here is a scented polish, and each time I raised my hands near my face was like a special surprise :-)

Do you frequently forget your polish is scented when you wear it?

Ugly Manicure Monday - 17

Hi there!

This ugly manicure comes courtesy of Liz at Nothing But Nail Polish...

Drizzle manicure.

Liz started with a base of white, and then sponged different designs with neon polish. Once that was dry, she added the drizzle design. Unfortunately, the drizzle wasn't dry before she added her top coat :-/

Drizzle manicure.
To create a drizzle, Liz put some black polish onto a scrap piece of paper. Using her dotting tool, she played with it until it got stringy... then she strung it over her nails.

Drizzle manicure.

Thanks, Liz!

I love the look of this manicure... minus the thumb, of course ;-p This is something I'll be trying soon! What do you think?

If you have an ugly manicure, I'd love to feature it! Email me with what polish you used and what you intended your manicure to look like :-)

Until next time...

Neon Yellows

Hi there!

The last bunch of neons I have to share are the yellows...

Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde?, Sinful Colors - Neon Melon,
Color Club - Get Your Lem-On, and China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

This cell phone picture is color accurate...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde?,
Sinful Colors - Neon Melon, Color Club - Get Your Lem-On,
and China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

And this picture is from my regular camera...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde?,
Sinful Colors - Neon Melon, Color Club - Get Your Lem-On,
and China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

Each nail is painted with a base of white and 2 coats of yellow.

In order from my favorite to my least favorite:

1. Sinful Colors - Neon Melon (middle finger)... This dries a smidge matte, but the color is amazing and it has a nice formula.

2. Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde? (index finger)... I like this formula better than Neon Melon, but it doesn't have *as* great of a color.

3. Color Club - Get Your Lem-On (ring finger)... This is least like the other 3. It has a green shimmer and it's scented. It also has a great formula.

4. China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini (pinky finger)... This is number 4 because it doesn't seem as neon when compared to the other 3.

I hope this helps!

Until next time...

Neon Purples

Hi there!

These are the neon purples I have...

Sinful Colors - Dream On, Color Club - Mrs. Robinson,
Julep - Helena, and Zoya - Charisma.

My nails painted with Sinful Colors - Dream On,
Color Club - Mrs. Robinson, Julep - Helena, and Zoya - Charisma.

Each nail is painted with a base of white and 2 coats of purple.

In order from my favorite to my least favorite:

1. Color Club - Mrs. Robinson (middle finger)... This is my favorite of the bunch because it had the easiest application and it dried the glossiest.

2. Julep - Helena (ring finger)... This also dries glossy, but it has more of a red/pink undertone than the others it was compared with.

3. Zoya - Charisma (pinky finger)... The application was easy, but it dries matte.

4. Sinful Colors - Dream On (index finger)... This is last because the first coat was somewhat patchy. It also dries matte.

I hope this helps!

Until next time...

Neon Oranges

Hi there!

These are the neon oranges I have...

Spoiled - Jail Bait, Sinful Colors - Summer Peach,
Color Club - Wham! Pow!, and Color Club - Polish For All.

This cell phone picture is color accurate...

And this picture is from my regular camera...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Jail Bait, Sinful Colors - Summer Peach,
Color Club - Wham! Pow!, and Color Club - Polish For All.

Each nail is painted with a base of white and 2 coats of orange.

In order from my favorite to my least favorite:

1. Color Club - Wham! Pow! (ring finger)... This was the easiest to apply and it dries with a gloss finish.

2. Color Club - Polish For All (pinky finger)... This is nearly a tie with Wham! Pow! It also dries with a gloss finish. It's number 2 because I prefer the color of Wham! Pow! just a little bit more.

3. Sinful Colors - Summer Peach (middle finger)... This dries slightly matte.

4. Spoiled - Jail Bait (index finger)... This is number 4 because of its brush. It was difficult for me to paint near my cuticle. The formula is nice, though- it dries glossy.

Do you own/plan to own any of these?

Until next time...

Neon Pinks

Hi there!

Today I've got neon pinks to show you...

Spoiled - Tip Your Waitress, Sinful Colors - Pink,
Color Club - Warhol, Color Club - Jackie Oh!,
and China Glaze - Pool Party.

This cell phone picture is color accurate...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Tip Your Waitress,
Sinful Colors - Pink, Color Club - Warhol,
Color Club - Jackie Oh!, and China Glaze - Pool Party.

And this picture is from my regular camera...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Tip Your Waitress,
Sinful Colors - Pink, Color Club - Warhol,
Color Club - Jackie Oh!, and China Glaze - Pool Party.

Each nail is painted with a base of white and 2 coats of pink.

In order from my favorite to my least favorite:

1. Color Club - Jackie Oh! (ring finger)... The formula is awesome. It dries glossy and very bright.

2. Color Club - Warhol (middle finger)... This also has a great formula. It's number 2 because I like the bright color of Jackie Oh! just a little bit better.

3. Spoiled - Tip Your Waitress (thumb)... The formula is awesome. This is number 3 for me because of the brush- it's thick and makes the application near my cuticle more difficult.

4. China Glaze - Pool Party (pinky finger)... This had an easy application, but I don't care for the matte finish.

5. Sinful Colors - Pink (index finger)... This is last on my list because it pulled on the white base. I let each polish dry the same amount of time before applying the next coat. I only had difficulties with this one.

I hope this helps!

Until next time...

Neon Greens

Hi there!

If you're in the market for a neon polish and don't know where to start, I hope this next week helps you. I'll be posting comparisons along with my first impressions of the neons that I own.

Spoiled - Permission To Proceed, Sinful Colors - Irish Green,
Color Club - The Lime Starts Here, Color Club - What A Shock!,
and China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-Ada.

My nails painted with Spoiled - Permission To Proceed,
Sinful Colors - Irish Green, Color Club - The Lime Starts Here,
Color Club - What A Shock!, and China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-Ada.

Each nail is painted with a base of white and 2 coats of green. The picture was taken with my cell phone, so it isn't wonderful... but it's much more color accurate with neons than my regular camera.

In order from my favorite to my least favorite:

1. Color Club - The Lime Starts Here (middle finger)... The formula is great. That, combined with the unique color, makes it my number 1. The lime smell is also kind of fun :-)

2. Sinful Colors - Irish Green (index finger)... This was almost number 1. The only reason it isn't is because I think The Lime Starts Here is a bit more unique in color.

3. China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-Ada (pinky finger)... I like the formula, but I dislike the matte finish.

4. Color Club - What A Shock! (ring finger)... This isn't number 4 because of anything wrong. It has a faint blue shimmer in it, and that's just not what I think of when I think of a neon polish.

5. Spoiled - Permission To Proceed (thumb)... This is number 5 because I used 2 coats. I like it much better with 1 coat (seen here). This polish has more of a jelly finish than the others, and I dislike the brush.

That's it for the greens. Which one is your favorite?

Until next time...

Spoiled - Permission To Proceed

Hi there!

This is a fun one...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Permission To Proceed.

My pointer and pinky finger are each painted with 2 coats, no base. My middle and ring finger each have a base of white. My middle finger has 2 coats, and my ring finger has 1 coat of Permission To Proceed. The application was effortless.

This has to be the only neon polish I own that photographs well. I'm honestly surprised that my camera liked this one :-)

Is this a must-have for you?

Until next time...

Splattered Fireworks

Hi there!

I forgot to post a picture of the manicure I did for the 4th of July. I had every intention of choosing one of the 7 ideas I had posted over the past week- but at the last minute, my neighbor's daughter ever-so-sweetly asked me to give her "firework nails." When I was finished, she asked me to make mine match. How could I say no?

Splatter manicure painted with Sinful Colors - What's Your Name.
Splattered with Color Club - Warhol, China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-Ada,
Sinful Colors - Summer Peach, and Sally Hansen - Blue Me Away!
Patriotic 4th of July manicure.

I painted 2 coats of What's Your Name for my base. It's a black polish with blue glassy flecks throughout. I wanted it to mimic the night's sky... and in the right lighting, I can really see it shimmer. I splattered my nails with halved regular drinking straws.

I used neons, so my manicure is much brighter in person than it appears in the picture. This is one of my horrible cell phone pictures, but I think it captures the colors more accurately...

This was my first time trying a splattered manicure. It was a lot of fun, and less time consuming than I thought it would be! It seems everywhere I go, someone either asks me to explain how I did it or they ask where they can buy nails like mine :-) I'll definitely be trying this again with different colors!

What do you think of this type of manicure? Have you tried it before?

Until next time...

Pink Papaya Punch

Hi there!

What an awesome weekend! I was able to enjoy beautiful weather and I got a lot accomplished. We've been landscaping our backyard and it's turning out quite nicely. I chopped my nails off a few days ago so they wouldn't slow me down and/or get broken...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Papaya Punch and
China Glaze - Broken Hearted Crackle.

The sun was shining so brightly that I wasn't able to capture a decent picture of my full manicure. I figure that a picture of one good finger is better than a picture of 5 so-so fingers, right?

Anyway, I painted 2 thick coats of Papaya Punch for it to be opaque and streak-free. It's gorgeous on its own, but with the Broken Hearted Crackle... well, I stared at my nails A LOT this weekend! It's most definitely an eye-popping manicure.

Here's Papaya Punch on its own...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Papaya Punch.

Papaya Punch is the only polish I have from the Island Escape collection. After this manicure, I'm tempted to obtain the rest of them! Do you own any polishes from this collection? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...

Color Club - Space Case - Starry Temptress

Hi there!

Today, I've got my nails painted with Color Club's Space Case, from the Starry Temptress collection. It's an interesting polish- but first, let me show you...

My nails painted with Color Club - Space Case.

I have mixed opinions of this color. The application was so-so... it wasn't horrible, but it was nothing special. The base of the color is a nice neon pink with a blue shimmer. Holographic glitter floats throughout the polish, and that's where I was most let down. I feel like most of the glitter gets covered by the polish, so the end result looks as if I've gotten dirt or air bubbles mixed with the pink. The glitter that stays above the polish does look pretty, though.

I only needed to paint 2 coats to make this polish opaque. I used a coat of Seche Vite over the top of it and I highly recommend some type of topcoat over this polish. The Starry Temptress collection has a topcoat with matching glitter suspended in it, and I've read that it makes all the difference in making this line pop. Perhaps if I would have used it, I would have been more pleased.

Overall, I think this is a pretty color... it's just not what I envision when I think of shimmer, glitter, or holographic polishes.

Do you own any of the polishes from this collection? What's your opinion of them?

Until next time...

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Versus Neon Melon

Hi there!

Today was another neon day for me.

China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini & Sinful Colors - Neon Melon.
China Glaze is painted on my pointer and ring finger.
Sinful Colors is painted on my middle and pinky finger.

These were fun to play with... they remind me of elementary school and how my friends and I would color on our fingernails with highlighters :-)

Both of these colors were subpar to work with. I like to think I have a steady hand, but that didn't help the application. The picture doesn't capture just how noticeable the streaks are... they're quite dark. I even used a white base coat- it helped with hiding my nail lines, but not the sinister streaks.

Neon Melon is a brighter and more neon yellow than Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

I honestly don't recommend either one of these polishes for a full manicure, unless you don't mind streaks. ... They might be good for painting accents and other nail art.

Until next time...

Summer Peach

Hi there!

I just took off my old manicure and replaced it with this beauty!

My nails painted with Sinful Colors - Summer Peach.

Please forgive the horrible cellphone picture. My regular camera just would not capture the neon of this polish! At least this picture shows a color closer to what I see when I look at my nails. It looks better if you click on the picture to enlarge it.

This is the best I could do with my regular camera...

My nails painted with Sinful Colors - Summer Peach.

I feel like that picture just shows orange- not NEON. ... But it could just be my computer monitor's settings.

This color was very easy to work with. I used 2 coats. Like most neons, it dried matte... so I applied a coat of Seche Vite. Easy fix.

These pictures really do this polish no justice. It's a fantastic neon! I guess you'll just have to pick up a bottle to see for yourself :-)

Until next time...
