Jamberry Nails - Summer Chevron

Hi there!

This is my first time using Jamberry Nails...

My nails painted with Essie - Big Spender and
Jamberry Nails - Summer Chevron.

I received a sample page of designs from an independent consultant for Jamberry Nails...

Based on the size of my nails, the strips are large enough to be cut in half and used on 2 nails.

These were easy enough to apply- I heated the wrap with my hair dryer until it was soft and flexible. I then applied it to my nail, used my finger tips to smooth it out, and re-heated it to seal the wrap.

I do have a piece of advice if you've never applied these before... if you're using these for an accent nail, I recommend waiting to paint your other nails until after you've applied the wrap. I painted my nails first, and when the wrap was heated, it accidentally stuck to my middle fingernail. It didn't smudge or pull up my manicure, but it very well could have.

As far as the wear of this manicure- well, it lasted less than 12 hours :-/ The edges lifted while I was in the shower, so I just peeled the wraps off. On the bright side, the removal process was easy!

Overall, I'd recommend these if you want a quick, fun design. For complicated designs, the wraps take less time to apply than free-hand nail art or stamping. I'm not sure I'd choose to do a full manicure with these since the heating process can be fussy- I imagine if a heated wrap grabbed onto a wrap that was already applied, it might pull and ruin it.

Have you used these before? Which designs are your favorite? ... And do you have any tips for first-timers?

Until next time...

49ers Decal Manicure

Hi there!

This is the next idea I have for a 49ers manicure...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL Super Bowl manicure.
China Glaze - Red Pearl, OPI, Suzi Loves Cowboys,
and Essie - Good As Gold.

I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured. With one of my striper polishes, I painted white lines onto my index finger to portray a football. On my ring finger, I simply placed a 49ers sticker.

I'll be posting one more San Francisco 49ers manicure tomorrow morning. Click here to see what I've done so far.

49ers French Manicure

Hi there!

These are the Niners nails I thought I would wear today...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL manicure.
Essie - Good As Gold and China Glaze - Ruby Pumps.

I painted 1 coat of Good As Gold and then painted a stripe of Ruby Pumps.

During the wee hours of this morning, insomnia took the best of me...

Essie - Good As Gold and China Glaze - Ruby Pumps.

I don't think my addition of the nail art pen "49ers" made my manicure look terrible, but I'm not fond of the font. I also don't like that the pen got stuck in a ridge on my pinky nail and I slopped up my "s."

An important note... as soon as possible, use top coat over the nail art pen! I went to put some things away and then realized I no longer had numbers or letters written on my nails. Instead, there were black smudges all over my fingers.

I will be posting more San Francisco 49ers manicure ideas later this week. Click here to see what I've done so far.

Until next time...

49ers Splatter Manicure

Hi there!

I'm back just in time for the Super Bowl. And guess what!? The San Francisco 49ers made it!

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL splatter manicure.

I painted 2 coats of OPI's Danke-Shiny Red before splattering with Essie's Good As Gold and Wet n Wild's Ebony Hates Chris. I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite.

Splatter manicures can definitely be interesting. Look at what the gold did...

It completely missed my nail! ... But I think it looks neat :-)

Here's what my right hand looked like (sorry for the cell phone picture)...

I painted this manicure back in October when we went to see the Niners play at Candlestick Park. It was so much fun. We had the best seats anyone could ever wish for, and the 49ers won!

I'll be posting more San Francisco 49ers manicure ideas over the next week. Click here to see what I've done so far.

Autumn Breeze

Hi there!

I added a leafy filigree design to yesterday's manicure...

My nails painted with OPI - Suzi Loves Cowboys and
Chop-Sticking To My Story.
Stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM21 and Essie - Good As Gold.

...and I'm glad I did, because I really like it! I was planning on stamping a plain leaf design, but it turned out that the one full nail image I have in my collection didn't seem interesting enough for what I wanted.

I was going to stamp this manicure with Nicole by OPI's The Next CEO, since I do like its color better than Good As Gold against my base colors... but it simply doesn't stamp well. It's gorgeous on its own, but the foily finish doesn't allow it to transfer. Alternatively, Good As Gold stamps amazingly! If you're looking for a great gold to stamp with, I most definitely recommend it.

Is this a manicure you would wear?

Until next time...

Dirty Zombie

Hi there!

These are my Halloween nails...

My Halloween zombie manicure.

I painted 1 coat of OPI's Red Hot Ayers Rock (bright red) to start this manicure, then I randomly swiped China Glaze's Velvet Bow (dark red) over that. Once dry, I painted a thick coat of Color Club's Coastal Creme (pink nude). When that was dry, I used an acetone soaked q-tip to remove some of the nude polish. That allowed for some of the bright and dark red to show through.

My original intention was to leave it at that, but I felt like the manicure needed more... so I mixed Essie's Case Study (medium brown) and OPI's Suzi Loves Cowboys (dark brown) and sponged it onto each nail. Then I applied a coat of China Glaze's Matte Magic to achieve the final look. If I had it to do over again, I'd substitute the brown polishes for something more rusty- I think that'd better compliment the ouchies.

My hands are unbelievably dry. The climate change has made them really freak out- and I'd normally moisturize them, but somehow that didn't seem appropriate for this look :-) The ouchies are a mix of cosmetic stickers and makeup. Hunny poo was some sort of gross looking character last year for Halloween, and he didn't wear all of the stickers that came in his costume package... so I saved them! The boils were much more pronounced, but I was able to slice them to better blend into my skin.

What are you wearing on your nails for Halloween?

Until next time...

Essie - Braziliant

Hi there!

I'm not sure how I feel about this one...

My nails painted with Essie - Braziliant.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. I didn't like it at first, but the more I look at it- the more I don't hate it. I like it much better in the sunlight- that's where the pink shimmer is most visible.

Do you own this polish? Do you have a love/hate relationship with it? If you've worn it, I'd love to know how it looks on you!

Until next time...

Return Address Labels

Hi there!

I took part in the random manicure challenge with Dana a couple of weeks ago, and this is what I came up with...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Hang-Ten Toes,
I'm With the Lifeguard, and Essie - Chastity.

I painted 2 coats of Hang-Ten Toes before dotting on I'm With the Lifeguard and Chastity to achieve what's pictured.

I think I got lucky... but I know it's because I didn't bring very many bottles of polish with me to keep here. My manicure didn't have much of a chance of being ugly :-) I simply closed my eyes and grabbed 3 bottles. Once I opened my eyes, I knew immediately where I had seen the combination of colors before- and I thought, "why not mimic my return address labels?"

Essie - Splash of Grenadine

Hi there!

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend so far! I am! It's so nice and sunny here and it's the perfect weekend to have 3 days off :-) I quickly painted these this morning...

My nails painted with Essie - Splash of Grenadine.

I painted 2 coats of Splash of Grenadine to achieve what's pictured. There isn't too much to say about it except it applied nicely. I'm not sure I like it against my current skin tone, though... so I suppose I'll save it for when I'm tan.

Do you own this one?

Until next time...

Ugly Manicure Monday - 02

Hi there!

This ugly manicure comes to you courtesy of Katt at Kattatonic Fierceology...

Essie - Armed & Ready.

She painted 3 coats to achieve what's pictured. Her nails are messy because she painted them while driving around town (as a passenger). She even hung them out the window to dry.

Thanks, Katt!

Have you ever been so excited about a polish that you couldn't wait until you got home to try it? I have!

If you have an ugly manicure, I'd love to feature it! Email me with what polish you used and what you intended your manicure to look like :-)

Until next time...

Flowers for a Sunny Day

Hi there!

I've definitely been neglecting my Konad plates lately :-/ So what better time to use them than today? Well, that may be a bit of a lie... I painted this manicure 3 days ago and I just now got around to taking a picture of it...

My nails painted with Essie - Big Spender.
Stamped with Konad image plate M64.

I painted 2 coats of Big Spender for it to be perfectly opaque, stamped with Konad's special yellow polish, and then I topped it off with Konad's top coat.

Until next time...
