Special lo for SOUS

I just love all the colors and embellies in this layout I did with the sketch from SOUS- its been so long since I did a challenge from there- but this one comes pretty close since my pictures were both a 4 x 6. Its another one of my favorites of my kids taken at my daughter's wedding in Jamaica this past April.
I used the background paper from Scrapbook Customs called Paradise- two colors of cardstock for the mats, and Cricut cuts from Ashlyn's Alphabet, Accent Essentials and Life's a Beach. I layered the flowers in two colors attached a brad and added some stickles for bling. The cloud I inked the bottom and added stickles also. On the palm leaves I inked in 3 colors of green and one the bottom three added some sub-titles to them in my own handwriting.
I will be applying this over at SOUS this week..hope its not to late. Today is the first day of Summer- enjoy and stay cool- because its been a hot one here lately Happy Scrapping!

Over the River and thru the woods...

To grandma's house we go..... is the title of my layout this week for 2 challenges, one at The Paper Variety to use a Christmas song or lyric  and over at SOUS to use "tree" die cuts. This photo is of my 2 daughters and their cousin in Upper Michigan after Christmas one year. The girls decided to take therir first rode trip alone to Michigan to celebrate the New Year with family. And they went over plenty of rivers and thru the woods to grandma's house --so the title is so right for this page.
I used several Cricut cartridges on this layout: DoodleCharms (trees) Graphically Speaking (snowflakes) Accent Essentials (hearts) Calligraphy Collection ( title words) . I also used my Cuttlebug and embossed the trees and layered them with pop dots and used green and diamond sStickles on them for some added bling.

Papers used were by Basic Grey -2-sided paper with houses on one side and blue swirls on the other- .also used red c.s. for mats and title cuts, brown inks, Stickles in pink, green and diamond, Rhinestones on snowflakes and my Xyron can in handy tonight to attached the title on.

I added some Stickles to the hearts and snowflakes and some pretty 3 colored ribbon and made my own journal spot.  The sketch I got from my handy PageMaps 2 book page 29 a 8 1/2 x 11 layut I convereted to a 12 x 12.

Great Lengths-

Here is my take from Sketch #128 at The Scrappiest- the photo's are not the best -a bit blurry- but I remember this moment all to well a few years back of my son and his long golden locks right before we cut them all off- so he could join the high school football team. He was kinda worried about this- since he believed he was a chick magnet with this hair. Which he probably was- but football was more important and he said he could grow it back if he wanted too after the season.
I used all papers from the Recollections stack - which I just got the other day at Micheals for 1/2 off what a great deal this was. I added big gold brads to the corners of the photo's and journal strips on the side. With my Gypsy and Cricut Expressions I cut out the golden swirls to represent LOCKS of hair and the Handle with Care sign and the title Great Lengths from several cartridges- Accent Essentials, Graphically Speaking and Ashley's Alphabet. I inked all the edges with Memories-Chestnut

With Valentine's Day coming up next week I choose to use the colors black, white & pink and heart & flowers for embellisments for this layout of my cousins wedding. On the hearts I used Flower Soft in Sweet Pea and wrote a few words in the center of them. Pink and black Stickles were added to the title and the black swirls. Then last added one red heart rhinestone to the title.

Family at Christmas time- what could be better

This is a photo of my Husband side (part) of the family -2 of his brothers, his son, nephew and his mother taken back in 2007 a week before Christmas, while his brother was here from Alaska during the holidays. I will be applying this sketch over at Sketches in Thyme,  Frosted Designs ,to use Glitter and at Chop Suey to use the word Family in a project. The picture came out kinda blurry sorry I didn't have my reading glasses on when I took this picture.
I used My Minds Eye, Bo Bunny, Teresa Collins and misc Christmas papers for this layout along with lots of embellishments. Also used three Cricut cartridges for the cuts- Accents Essentials, Home Accents and Christmas Cheer. Lots of glitter in several colors, stickles, punches, double sided tape, pop dots, and 3 Maya Road leaf decorative pins
This 3-D origami christmas tree was alot of fun to make it added alot of dimension to this page and I added stickles in 3 colors and punched out little snowflakes to decorate the tree. I saw a tutorial on this tree at Practical Scrappers about 2 weeks ago and I also have nmade several cards with this tree- just love how they turn out.-

All American BOY

I'm  packed and all ready to go on my 4th of July weekend trip to Upper Michigan and I have a few hours to spare before we leave so I hurried downstairs to do one more layout for some challenges this week. And it just so happens the challenges over at Pink Elephant is a sketch and color theme of red, white and blue, and over at FCCB #16 it is the Theme -4th of July and to have a star on your project, and Frosted Design's challenge is Stars & Stripes with red white and blue...Wow 3 challenges with 1 layout.. So this photo of my son taken in 2001 in upper Michigan at the Ishpeming parade was perfect for them all. I used white cardstock inked with brown all over and the edges, red and blue cardstock for all the other papers used. I cut the large red star from Accent Essentials cartridge, small blue and red stars from Doodlecharms ,blue star border from Doodlecharms- welded, and the title in blue "All American Boy" from Jasmine cartridge also welded and used  my Gypsy to lay this all out. I used several buttons tied with silver thread. Added a wide red, white and blue silver ribbon to center of page with 4 silver buttons attached. I made my own 2 journal tags from stars and cut it to look like fringe, used white gel pen,  added Stickles glitter to stars and title. I did this is a bit of a rush, but really liked how it turned out. So now I'm ready to go celebrate with family and friends the 4th of July. Hope you too have a safe and Happy 4th.

Creative Scrappers- sketch #103/Practical Scrappers-Punch

This is my sketch to enter into the challenge at Creative Scrappers this week. I had so much fun doing this layout and I just LOVE how it turned out, which I did spent a few hours on it, but well worth it to add to MY scrapbook. I used several papers from K&Company for the main 2 layers, border punch by Martha Stewart and Fiskars for corner punch. Used a white/clear vellum for the journal area and ink edges in Lilac.

The flowers I made using my cricut carts of AE  GW HA to cut out the floral patterns I then layered the different sizes/shapes together and attached a silver brad that I heat embossed  green, gold or blue colors. I then used Tattered Angel mists on them, a variety of colors. I used a vellum Slick writer for my words. Cut out a few words from paper/chalked them green and attached to the flowers.

The Title Children I used my Gypsy and 2 different letter fonts LL  PS and welded together and inked the edges in lavendar and added sticker rhinestones to it. I cut from patterned paper 3 butterflies and added Stickles glitter glue to them and attached just at the body part. The leaves I hand cut and used a dash ---in marker to highlight them a bit.I cut out 2 hearts in the K&Company blue paper and attached a vellum saying behind one of the hearts, added rhinestones and glitter to the hearts also.

I wrote in black marker on top and bottom border the saying " A mother holds her children hands for awhile, and their hearts forever"

And this is a close up of my 4 lovely children on my Wedding Day in September 2000. They were so wonderful that day and as you can see by the smiles they were happy too. I can't wait to put this one in my special Scrapbook of my special pictures of my children as they are growing up.

Over at Creative Scrappers they have a sketch challenge due by April 30th, so here is my layout of the sketch. I used a Close to my Heart kit "Grace" and made my own flowers using my gypsy and AE cartridge and the papers from this kit so it all matches really well. I added little rhinestones around the flowers and 2 tags. I also sanded the edges of the blue paper and the circle to make them stand out a bit, and inked the edges in coffee bean brown. My title was a saying from the kit that went with my daughters Junior H.S. picture.
