FOP says "Don't trust the police"..
Now the FOP is warning police in neighboring cities about Gary's reserve officers by sending a memo instructing other agencies to: "take caution when dealing with reserves and not assume that they can be trusted, especially when armed."
"One of them in particular actually couldn't get hired on by the police department because of his background. But now he's out making arrests driving a police car," Saviola said.
All I can say is WTF! Who thought this one up? Oh, right. Politicians.
Rambling Friday thoughts
I cannot wait to walk out at Hartsfield, and find myself on the road home, even better be at home with the people I love and in my own bed tonight.
While I was waiting for a Doctor yesterday, “The Evil Witch” (As Bryan would call me) has blown out her back again.
I noticed a blurb in an NJ.com article “trend suggests that New Jersey would have a net outflow of over 100,000 persons in 2009” that over 100,000 people picking up and moving to other states most likely Free states. California, is also reporting decreases in populations.
In deference to “The Brain” Miller, who wants you to believe everyone loves New Jersey, the foolish worthless laws, and high taxes. The same newspaper he beats his chest in reports New Jersey is a “dying land.” This slow agonizing death can be directly blamed on the likes of Miller and his cronies there hard work to erode the bill of rights, as well as coddle criminal to keep the corrupt democrats in office.
I have had the misfortune to spend a good part of last year and will be here until at least summer, until this project is slowly completed and is shut down. I say this is my last project but I said this after the last three. I can honestly say, I have never had so many people say to me, “I was born here, but I hate this state” The conservatives I tell go south young man/woman. The liberals I tell them hey you made this hell-hole stay and bask in your accomplishments, but please do not go south and contaminate our world.
Have a wonderful weekend all

Concealed Campus responds to Brady Lies
Despite the Brady Campaign’s baseless accusations and constant barrage of insults—such as Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke’s statement on Fox News, on October 26, 2007, that SCCC members are students who “like to dress up” to “feel more masculine”—they are unable to go toe-to-toe with SCCC on the facts. And because the organizers of SCCC are confident that facts will win out over rhetoric every time, the national officers for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus wish to extend the board of directors of The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence an open invitation to debate the issue of concealed carry on college campuses, on the campus of any University in the United States of America.
Good job guys. You actually have support beyond funding from the "Elite".

Gang mayhem cripples big area
Thousands stranded, schools locked down as notorious group battles the LAPD after a drive-by killing.
A drive-by attack followed by a wild shootout between gang members and police shut down dozens of blocks of Northeast Los Angeles for nearly six hours Thursday afternoon, stranding thousands of residents, keeping students locked in their classrooms and leaving two people dead.
Since the beginning of the year, authorities said Avenues gang members are suspected in at least six homicides. Northeast Division, typically far from the most violent in the city, already has eight homicides this year, more than any other, police said. At that rate, the division would far eclipse last year's total of 18.
Fire arm owners just need to move out and leave the state to those who voted to enable this. Of course we get to listen to the spin on how they need MORE gun control to make it more illegal and to blame the "lax laws" in other states. Never mind that they can't control criminals that have been around for decades.

Brady Spin..
The Northern Illinois University shooting happened on the anniversary of Chicago's "St. Valentine's Day Massacre," February 14, 1929, and a day before the anniversary of the attempted assassination of President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the killing of Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak on February 15, 1933. Those events led to one of the few gun control laws still on the books, the National Firearms Act of 1934. Our recent gun violence should also lead us to take action.
Here's a question:
What did the attempted assassination of Pres. Roosevelt and the killing of Mayor Cermak have to do w/ the 1934 NFA?
Answer: Nothing. GUISEPPE ZANGARA used a .38 pistol. Nothing to do w/ the 1934 act covering Title II weapons. I guess that goes to show that gun control laws continue to have nothing to do w/ actual crime. Just like Pauls' proposals
Forcing children into unnatural relationships...
A bunch of teachers force children who, on their own, developed a stable, functioning, capitalist society based off of legos, to dismantle it and make it communist because they didn't think it was 'fair'.
Obviously they aren't history teachers as then they would also know that after that threat of force is removed, communism collapses. I wonder if they continued their little social experiment to that stage.

The Modern Militia: Equipment III, Adv Field Gear*
This installment is going to get into squad level and/or expensive items. Like firearms, the military issue is mostly limited to, well, the military but there are civilian equivalents available. Some, if not most of it will beyond the wallet of the average individual but I'm going to put it in there since I think its cool. Squad level items are what I classify as not each individual needing which is why I didn't include them in Basic gear.
Binoculars:
A good set of binoculars can range anywhere from $20 to several hundred. This would be a standard item for team leaders in both combative and non-combative rolls.
Compass:
Mil-Spec Lensatic compasses go for about $40. Less expensive ones are available. Imperative for any rural activity.
Maps:
A map is needed in any urban or rural environment for any situation. You can't help if you don't know where you are or how to get somewhere. A good hardcopy map book is the DeLorme series atlas's. These are detailed topographical maps of most individual states. So far it's the only one I've found that has my road on it. :) TopoZone is an online source where you can download and print not only topographical maps, but road and satellite maps as well.
GPS:
In ADDITION TO (note that) a compass and map, GPS systems are also available. These units range from relatively inexpensive to close to a grand just for the ones I browsed. These are more accurate than traditional LandNav but also suffer from the traditional curse of technologies. They need to be supported. Batteries, weather conditions, and even satellite operation all become considerations.
Body Armor*/**:
Standard US Military issue is Class III Interceptor Body Armor w/ plates. This is not available to civilians from what I understand. Law enforcement standard is IIA. Civilian Body armor is available in all classes from Sub I to Class IV in concealable to full tactical styles. Prices average in the hundreds of dollars.
Night Vision:
Potentially the more obtainable of the pricey items. A Gen 1 monocular or non-image intensifying binocular can be purchased for a few hundred dollars. Image intensifying units, Gen 2, Gen 3, or 3+/4 (designation varies) can range anywhere from $500 to $5000 dollars or more. These can be had in hand-held units, helmet/head mounted, or weapon scope configurations.
FLIR*:
Forward Looking InfraRed*. The Holy Grail of modern optics. Available (if you can say that) also in hand-held units, helmet/head mounted, or weapon scope configurations. The cheapest man-portable unit I've found of any quality runs about $10K. I've seen large used cameras and surplus fire-fighting units at about $3500-$4000.
Communications:
Current Military issue is the Frequency Hopping SINCGARS manpack. From what I've been able to discover, no civilian model uses the same bands but there are MilSpec units available in other ranges. Most I've seen run from $10K-$25K. A good portable CB radio system (each unit about $35 or up) would be a more realistic but limited option. Remember your ComSec.
NBC detection and safety*:
Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical protection and detection is a serious concern. Even ignoring the terrorist aspect, many companies have hazardous chemicals on their properties that can seriously debilitate unprotected people if released due to fire or other natural disaster. Chemical/Gas and Dosimeters (radiation meters) would be the two most common groups of equipment for general use of detection. On the issue of safety, NBC suits of various types are available to the public. HAZMAT is one of those issues where, unless you are a specially trained individual, we can't do much to help. Get yourself and your family protected and GTFO of the contaminated area.
If there are categories/ideas you think I should add to this, find something factually incorrect, or disagree w/ anything above, feel free to E-mail me or comment. That doesn't guarantee I'll add or change it but it adds to the discussion.
Next up: Vehicles!
*NOTE: Check local laws before purchasing any potentially restricted item(s).
**NOTE: See NIJ Body Armor standards for definitions.

Teacher wants to protect his students
If a psychotic gunman were searching for a tight cluster of multiple bodies -- an easy target for seeking revenge, casting out demons, achieving immortality or whatever else his perverse purpose happens to be -- he would find my classroom door wide open. He could assume a position straddling the threshold and blocking the exit, so that he could fire at the trapped students at will, reload his weapon and fire once again. We would be sitting ducks in yet another American schoolhouse tragedy.
But if I were packing a loaded automatic pistol in a shoulder holster beneath my jacket, we might have half a chance.
Most comments are supportive. My how times have changed.
Politicians in the pay of lobbyists..
Hattip to SIH.
Can't argue w/ your opponent?
But Peter Hamm, communication director for the Brady Campaign to Stop Gun Violence, is concerned that the group is the latest tool of the powerful gun lobby.
"We know very clearly that they were organised and they are funded by the gun industry, by the companies that are selling the guns," he said.
"This is not some spontaneous, grassroots organisation.
"There are more members than there were before Virginia Tech because the gun industry is spending more money to enlist more young people to help them spread the word, that if only we had more guns in America, we'd have less of a gun violence problem."
So where's your evidence Peter? We can show that the majority of Anti-gun funding is from either the BC or Joyces. Can you do the same for this group?

Illinois Factoids 2006
according to the 2006 IL UCR.
Illinois had a population of 12.8 million w/ a murder rate of 6.1/100K (780)
Chicago had 22.2% of the population of Illinois yet accounted for 60% of murders w/ a per capita rate of 16.4/100K
Cook County had 41.4% of the population of Illinois yet accounted for 73.6% of murders w/ a per capita rate of 10.83/100K
The Cook County murders in raw number/per capita increased 4.4% and 4.9% respectively while arrest numbers and rates dropped over 18% from '05 to '06.
If Chicago were to fall into Lake Michigan, the Illinois murder rate would drop to 3.14
Were the rest of Cook County to follow suit, the rate would drop to 2.74
Think there's a reason the IL .gov's won't correlate their violent crime numbers w/ the FBI?
King Dick walks in the blood of NIU victims.
"But after the news conference, state Sen. John Cullerton, a Chicago Democrat and longtime gun control advocate, acknowledged they would not have prevented the NIU shootings."
Look at the video. It shows an AK clone w/ the magazine apparently jammed in backwards. One pundit goes on about "we're not trying to take your guns away". I wonder if anyone mentioned to him that those were the same promises made before the Chicago Handgun ban.
CBS viewers recognize that the laws have failed.
Crime in Chicago is skyrocketing, showing why they only submit partial records to the FBI.
While some people who should be deleted, aren't.
Ethical and Moral Considerations
I think an E-mail is in order. Of course it took some searching as she doesn't have it listed on either the official Gov't site or the Dem site. I wonder why. Here it is in any case:
hernandezel@ilga.gov
Rep. Hernandez,
In your bill, you state that any approved classes will include " a presentation of the ethical and moral considerations necessary for any person who possesses a handgun".
What specifically are the considerations that need to be included in such a course?

People's Soviet of IL
Basically it's another "handgun licensing" bill. Where have we seen those before? Hmm, let me think. Oh, right, Chicago and DC. What were the results from that? Oh, right, they closed the offices, therefore banning handguns.
Howabout this? Let's "compromise". I'll accept this 'license' if it includes statewide CCW , NRA classes are approved, and military training is considered equivalent to the classes. Would that work for you Rep. Hernandez?
Thanks to Armed and Safe for the heads-up.
Anti-gunner obsessions
Response to Bryan
Oh, Bryan is so mean; our little EX delivery boy/shipping clerk loves to attack when he assumes he is in a safe venue, (of his choosing of course). Also it appears baby has a temper. (Sarcasm intended)
Since Bryan appears to selectively remember what he wrote, or perhaps cannot read his own post, I will briefly recap for him.
He was droning something about cars being safer and lives saved, all the while indicating that these wonders were a result of the Nanny state (ok my addition).
I simply pointed out that the wonders he was attempting to taut were not as great as he would have us believe. Moreover, 40,000 plus dead in auto collisions per year for 15 years cannot be declared a victory. He seems to want to split hairs over "Miles driven" who taught Bryan math Louis Farrakhan?
Yes, Bryan was being a bully to a seemingly very nice woman Melody Z and yes, it did bother me; Bryan opine that I was not a nice woman. In my defense I am sure there are some who would agree with him, I like to think they are the minority (Or at least limited to leaders of hate groups like Ceasefire.) Moreover appears Bryans Ex-wife did not think Bryan was a very nice man, she dumped him, (Public records are great)
I do look forward to the day when his inflated ego, leads him to beating his chest on some left wing NPR, broadcast (Local) and I get the chance to ambush him. Turn about is fair play.
I feel reasonably sure he will never actually take me up on any challenge, because he is a typical leftwing type, too cowardly to play on an even playing field. He or his minions hand pick there battles, as well as their victims.
Bryan will stumble, on one of the Pro-Freedom Crowd, when he can not run hide, bully, or intimidate. And will get his hateful Butt handed to him.
I look forward to that day.

While HuffPo craps itself some more...
Lots of people who have no idea about firearms, firearm laws, or even the ability to read, thinking they have the perfect solutions.
Almost makes one want to re-institute intelligence/current events exams for voting.
Update:Did you know SCOTUS has lobbyists from the NRA controlling what cases it takes? PuSH'ers on HuffPo think so.
The Swinging Pendulum
Today, anti-gun groups are fighting to keep CCW out of national parks and colleges w/ poor if mixed results while killers continue to take advantage of these criminal empowerment zones and even the most authoritative of "reports" issued are shredded by lowly bloggers.
Compare that to AU and the UK were a single incident resulted in public support of the confiscation of millions of firearms w/ no ( at best) or negative effects on crime as criminals just substituted weapons.
So yes, we're winning. But the BC said the same thing 15 years ago. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.
Bryan Miller wants "reasoned discourse"

So you're right Bryan. Politicians should stop "pandering" to the "gun lobby" and start following their advice as you've clearly shown that doing the opposite is a recipe for disaster.
Of course in reality it sure sounds like he's hoping someone we know gets shot so "then you'll know." Anti-gunners really are violent, aren't they?

The UK: the last bastion of .....Well something.
Deputy labour leader Harriet Harman has commissioned a report advocating that Caucasian males be barred from running for election in certain districts.
The legal term? Positive Discrimination.
Stick a fork in them. They're done.
