Ali Must Resign

I read the below article by Martin Cavarlho (from the Star) make me laugh. Now you really have a Deputy President (or rather a DPM) wannabe making stupid and brainless comments.

I thank God that he is out of the race or he will be an insult to everyone's intelligent. And guess what, I seriously don't understand how a brainless person like him could be smart in politics or rather he has conned his supporters.

Now let us look at his really stupid statement (I hope he is misquoted) :

“If that is the case, then Lim Guan Eng and Anwar Ibrahim should step down from their posts as they themselves had been convicted and imprisoned previously,” he added.

Now let me clarify, both Guan Eng and Anwar have served their sentences. Guan Eng got like 18 months and Anwar had his share of about 6 years. Subsequent to that both are barred 5 years after coming out from prison before they can actually run in the election. Note : Both were charged and tried maliciously nothing but political motivated.

Having said that, Ali has just been found guilty by the UMNO Disciplinary Board for breaching party ethics or whatever offence under the UMNO constitution. Not only that he was found guilty but he accepted the decision. He should have challenge the decision if he is innocent. But he did not.

Remember abetting is also an offence. He may not be an active person but knowing it is also wrong. The burden of prove is on him to prove that he is did not commit the wrongful acvt whether as principal or not.

So all Malaysians can assumed (right to an opinion) that he is guilty and that the Opposition has the moral and legal right to lodge a police or a MACC report for corruption. He must then be investigated under the New MACC Act and if found that there are evidence of corrupt practices, he must be charged and trialed under our laws.

Now if Ahmad Said dared to comment about Tan Sri Khalid's car and cows, what about Ali.

I wonder what happen to GERAK? A mouthpiece of UMNO. Or what happen to Ezam?

In short, Ali must resign as Chief Minister of Melaka to allow investigation to the numerous reports lodge against Ali Rustam. Though he may keep his ADUN seat of Bukit Baru until the court decide otherwise.

Ali Rustam slams opposition for asking him to step down

By MARTIN CAVARLHO

MALACCA
: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam hit out at the PKR opposition party for politicising the issue of him being barred to contest in the coming Umno polls.

He said the action taken by Umno’s Disciplinary Board was not in relation to his involvement in money polittics but for infringing party ethics through the action of a third party who was considered an agent.

“They are just trying to exploit the issue by calling for me to vacate my seat as Chief Minister and for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate me,” he told reporters here Friday.

He described the move by the Opposition as inappropriate.

“If that is the case, then Lim Guan Eng and Anwar Ibrahim should step down from their posts as they themselves had been convicted and imprisoned previously,” he added.

He was responding to two reports lodged against him by PKR with MACC here on Wednesday.

It is Definitely Our Business

I wholeheartedly supported my colleagues in PKR and PAS for lodging a report against DAR in MACC.

And I totally disagree with Kota Melaka Umno Youth's banners with the words “PKR Jangan Ganggu Tepi Kain Orang (PKR Stay Out Of Other People’s Business)” as the Ketua Menteri position is definitely the people's business and not exclusive only to UMNO.

Yes he was barred from contesting the Deputy Presidency as he is found guilty by the Disciplinary Board and that is an UMNO matter BUT as the law is no respector of anybody and that there is an element of corruption then he should be investigated by the police or MACC and until he is cleared by the police or MACC, DAR should step down as Ketua Menteri Melaka.

Shouting match at state MACC office (Taken from the Star)

MALACCA: Umno and opposition youth members faced off outside the state Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office after a group from PKR and PAS arrived to lodge a report against Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

Six from the group of 20, including complainant Hairiz Nordin, 26, entered the office at noon yesterday to lodge a report against the Umno vice-president for alleged involvement in money politics as the others waited outside.

Thirty minutes later, some 30 youths from Kota Melaka Umno Youth arrived and unfurled Barisan Nasional banners with the words “PKR Jangan Ganggu Tepi Kain Orang (PKR Stay Out Of Other People’s Business)”.

A shouting match ensued between the two groups with more Umno Youth members arriving later.

The situation grew tense with both sides hurling abuse at each other, prompting intervention by about 20 policemen from the Melaka Tengah station, who kept the groups apart until the PKR and PAS youth members exited the building about an hour later.

The groups then dispersed without any untoward incident.

When met later, Hairiz called on the MACC to investigate Mohd Ali based on the findings of the Umno disciplinary board and to determine if he had used public funds during his party election campaign.

He added that the chief minister should relinquish his post if found to have done so.

Meanwhile, Kota Melaka Umno Youth vice-chief Shadan Othman issued a warning to the Opposition not to involve itself in Umno matters.

So is MACC investigating DAR?

So DAR (as he is fondly known) has been deemed guilty of offences serious enough to merit being barred from contesting the coming UMNO elections. In BERNAMA below, it is stated that UMNO Disciplinary Board found him guilty for indulging in money politics.

So the golden question now is, will the MACC initiate any investigation against DAR?

------

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 – While Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam has been deemed guilty of offences serious enough to merit being barred from contesting in the upcoming Umno elections, he will remain as the Malacca Chief Minister.

Deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today hoped Mohd Ali would accept the decision with an open heart.

He also urged him to continue contributing to the struggle of the party.

The Umno Disclipinary Board found Mohd Ali guilty of violating party ethics for indulging in money politics and is prohibited from contesting the post of Umno deputy president. – Bernama

Memorandum Against Majilis Bandaraya by Penduduk Pangsapuri Tun Sri Lanang On the Compulsory Acquisition

the project site
above is where I am standing on the Pangsapuri ground where
the pile is seen just right outside the fence of the Pangsapuri
below is the picture taken from the ground near the Lim Tian Puan Restaurant

above is the letter by MBMB confirming facts relating to the monorail

the marked place in the Pangsapuri ground

Residents complaining to Reporters

The below is a Memorandum by the residents in Pangsapuri Tun Sri Lanang (DUN Kota Laksamana) against the compulsory acquition by MBMB. This unfair acquisition of part of the land in the Pangsapuri is for the purpose of building a monorail train track that will run only 15km/per hour. Meaning it is for recreational under the so-called tourism feel good factor. The monorail train track will start from Pangkalan Rama right to the former Cathay.

The compulsory acquisition is effected by a Malacca State Gazette Notification No. 428 dated 3rd June 2008 stated as "Untuk Projek Laluan Monorail" wherein 668 square metres of land will be acquired.

The acquired propert will be severely affected whereby it deprived the river frontage of the pangsapuri. On top of that privacy and greenery will also be tremendously affected as fully matured trees presently on site as well as those lining the river. This will be cut down to make way for the monorail. As a result of that, the market value will never appreciate.

There are also other issues that can happen long term i.e. sound and noice pollution, vibrations, operational safety requirements and other potential accident hazards during or even after the construction of the monorail. Worst still when the construction of the monorail is close to the apartment unit and in the event it is completed, the motorail will be even closer to the unit on the third floors which I believe as close as 15 to 20 feet touching the wall of the apartment.

Though I am in agreement with the developments of the state authority, building and constructing unnecessary projects at the expense of lives of people and public funds, this I must OBJECT. Such projects are simply unnecessary and waste of public funds which should be channel to the use of society in a more diligent way.

Shah Rukh Khan's Malaysian 'knighthood' postponed: official

Hmm looks like Datuk Shah Rukh Khan is not interested with the datukship...

Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan has postponed a controversial ceremony to award him a Malaysian "knighthood" because he is too busy, officials said Wednesday.

Khan is to be presented with an award from southern Malacca state which carries the title "Datuk", equivalent to a British knighthood, after a 2001 film set in Malacca boosted its profile as a tourist destination.

The award has proved contentious, with some questioning whether Khan is deserving or whether local artists and celebrities should be recognised instead.

"The ceremony has been postponed for now," a senior Malacca official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"We wanted the ceremony to take place over a weekend but Shah Rukh's schedule was such that we could not agree on a date so we are now working on a new one that will keep everyone happy, but it hasn't been fixed yet," he said.

Since the filming of Khan's 2001 movie, "One 2 Ka 4" at a popular resort in Malacca, the number of tourists coming from India has increased significantly, state officials say.

The 42-year-old heart-throb was to have received his award on November 29, in a ceremony aired live on India's top entertainment channel, Zee TV.

"The postponement of the award shows just how ridiculous it is to give such an award to Shah Rukh as Malaysia and the award most probably does not even picture on his radar," opposition politician Lim Kit Siang told AFP.

Malaysia has become a popular location for Indian films, which have a huge following among ethnic Indians and the majority Muslim-Malays.

Datuk Shahrukh Khan

Datuk Shahrukh Khan.

Yes and I am not joking. It is for real. Saw in the Star online written by the Star Malacca Chief, Martin Carvalho (below), as the Ali Rustam explaining himself why a Datukship should be given. And give he did.

I bet you, Shahrukh Khan may have forgotten Malacca though he film it once in 2007. Maybe I should also suggest and recommend to the Chief Minister to give a Datukship to Sir Sean Connery (so it will be Datuk Sir Sean) and Miss Catherine Zeta Jones as well as they too promote Malacca River (hehe) and guess what the river is now becoming the 'Venice of the Esat.'

Oh yes I have forgotten, yeras and years ago, Davide Copperfield came too. Maybe we can suggest a datukship as well. So for everty celebrity coming to Malacca, a datukship is recommended. Again a joke.

So what have 'Datuk' Shahrukh Khan did for Malacca? Now Ali says that as a result of his filming, many people visited Malacca. Not that is a careless statement. One cannot take that movie shot alone as a barometer for the purposes of foreign tourist coming to Malacca. I think that statement lack genuinety and cross referencing.

The scantity of Datukship in Malacca especially is now question with such conduct by the Malacca CM who is eyeing for a seat in the Deputy President of UMNO. I cannot see how, this candidate's judgment in policy making for Malaysia.

What a chaos...

Chief Minister explains Shah Rukh Khan's Datukship
By Martin Carvalho

MALACCA: The Malacca Governor’s 70th birthday title award ceremony here was abuzz with excitement with many expecting to see popular Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan receive his Datukship on Saturday.

However, the international star and heartthrob was not to be seen at the Dewan Seri Hall in Ayer Keroh. Efforts are still being made to get him to come to Malaysia to collect his award.

The Datukship award has been questioned by various parties, including politicians and diehard fans.

Some say the actor did not deserve the award as “he hardly knows where Malacca is” while others say he “promoted Malacca in his songs and movies.”

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the decision to confer the title on the actor was based on a suggestion by former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin to Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob recently as a means to further promote Malacca owing to the fact that the actor had shot a movie scene here several years ago.

He said the movie One 2 ka 4 was shot at the A Famosa Resort in Alor Gajah in 2001.

“This resulted in many people visiting Malacca since then. The award is given in recognition of this,” he said after the awards presentation ceremony on Saturday.

Mohd Ali said awarding international artistes was also a good way to promote the state and country as a location for movies.

“Phuket Island is famous as an international tourist destination because of a James Bond movie,” he said, adding that Shah Rukh Khan’s movies have penetrated the European, US and Middle Eastern markets.

He said Daim is making arrangements to bring the actor here to receive the award in a special ceremony.

Reviving Pulau Melaka?

After donkey years and after many borrowers were made bankrupt or threaten with legal action due to the failure of paying their loans, the state now plans to obtain a court order to seize the Pulau Melaka project.

However my only concern is, is the state able to revive this stalled multi-million ringgit reclamation project with a huge debt of RM1.10 billion. Is this project budgeted for by the state government.

For me, this will get messier but I'm crossing my fingers.

----- The Star

MALACCA: The state plans to obtain a court order to seize the Pulau Melaka project from the company that was appointed to revive the stalled multi-million ringgit reclamation project.

State housing, rural development and project revival committee chairman Datuk Ghafar Atan said legal proceedings had been initiated against the company as it had failed to settle the land premium despite being given ample time to do so.

Speaking to reporters after a key presentation ceremony to homeowners at Taman Saujana Bukit Katil here recently, Ghafar assured buyers of the Pulau Melaka project that their interests would be safeguarded.

The RM1.4bil project, launched in 1996, involved mixed development on two man-made islands off the Bandar Hilir coast.

Although recording over RM190mil in sales, only one 45ha island was reclaimed and partially developed before the project stalled.

Earlier this year, the project was revived by court-appointed receivers with Phase I, Phase II and Phase III targeted for completion within 18 months.

Ghafar confirmed that 521 out of 612 four-storey shoplots had been sold under Phase I while 589 of 762 similar units and 85 apartments were sold under Phase II.

Phase I and Phase II were 90% and 85% completed respectively while the apartments under Phase III were completed, he said, adding that the apartments could not be occupied as the developers have yet to complete the plumbing and sewerage works.

Small State with Big Debt (RM1.10 BILLION) - the Malacca Dilemma

I did said during the last general election ceramahs that the state debt to the federal government is at 2006 is RM1.05 billion. Note it's BILLION. I did also say that our state is small but having extraordinary big debt. It is definitely not a CAT (Competent Accountable and Transparency) administration.

My prediction for 2007 debt to rise is surreal. I am no prophet but base on reports from the Auditor General reports any reasonable man would be able to do a variation. A 4.3% rise or a RM1.10 billion for 2007. The debt was due to mega projects in Malacca which the Auditor General's Office had warned in their report at page 46 of the report which states (in Malay) I quote:

With that in mind, the state government MUST strictly adhere to the EPU directives and not simply spend the unnecessary. With the many unnecessary "spending "projects such as the beautifying of the Malacca River (s0-called Venice of the East), Menara Berputar, Eye of Malacca, MITC projects under PKNM etc, I think there will be a time where Malaccans will continue to suffer with such unnecessary spending by our present state government.

What did I tell You....Malacca flood again

Mr. Gan Tian Loo, if you are reading this, your constituency is also flooded. Please take note. To wait for another two years or so, I'm afraid the whole kampung in Durian Daun Dalam will 'hanyut'. So please speed up.

----- Taken from the Star

MALACCA: It was sheer coincidence that the state’s flood mitigation plans dominated debate at the 12th State Legislative Assembly when several low-lying areas suffered flash floods following several hours of downpour on Thursday.

Several Barisan Nasional and Opposition assemblymen expressed concern on flash flooding in several parts of the state and wanted to know how fast the state would address the issue.

Datuk Tahir Hassan (BN - Paya Rumput) questioned how long he had to wait for the problem to be resolved in his constituency.

“We have been debating on floods since with the reply given that it is caused by the unusually heavy rains.

Helping hands: G. Arukkiasamy 16,helping her wheelchair-bound neighbour Kamala Alagan, 65, to higher ground after her home was affected by flash floods recently.

“Today, by divine providence, several areas in my constituency were hit by flash floods.

“Am I supposed to keep telling my constituents it is due to hujan lebat, hujan lebat each time it floods?” he questioned.

He said it was good the state had plans to solve the problem, noting that the plans were for the future and not immediate.

The issue was earlier raised by Hassan Rahman (BN — Sungai Rambai), who wanted to know the state’s plans to address floods at four locations along the new AMJ highway.

Goh Leong San (DAP - Kesidang) expressed concern over several areas in his constituency including Kampung Chitty where a retention pond was constructed recently.

In his answer, Gan Tian Loo (BN - Duyong), who is also state exco member for public works, said that RM128mil had been allocated by the Federal Government for flood mitigation projects in the city.

He said this included RM90.1mil to deepen Malacca River, and RM47mil for several projects in the city and the creation of a 33ha retention pond in the Krubong-Belimbing area that could hold 900,000 sq m of water.

“The various flood mitigation projects are expected to be completed within the next one to two years depending on technicalities and weather conditions,” he said, adding that the issue of floods would be fully resolved when the projects were completed.

Question : Is the Portuguese Settlement part of the UNESCO Heritage Listing

The below is taken from Ali's blog "DARI KACAMATA MOHD ALI RUSTAM" inviting everybody to celebrate Malacca's inscription as a World Heritage. I have no problems about that BUT I am a little bit unsure as to whether the Portuguese Settlement is included as part of the heritage protection under the UNESCO heritage listing.

I have my doubt that the Settlement is part of the listing as everyone is well aware of the rich culture the Portuguese had for Malaccan and probably beyond Malacca and Malaysia as I was told that this settlement is the only Portuguese Settlement outside of Portugal and as such uniquely Malacca and definitely part of the culture of Malaysia and Malaysian history.

After 50 years of Independence, it is time for bigger and more visible Projects to show off the rich cultural tapestry of Malacca. Merging the old tradition and the new era of technology will definitely enrich Malacca as a whole. There must be some preservation of the rich heritage of the Portuguese people. Their heritage cannot be forgotten as they will contribute greatly to the tourism industry of the state and Malaysia.

----- Taken from Ali's blog

Tomorrow will be a wonderful day for all of us as citizens of Melaka. I invite everyone to join the celebrations of Melaka’s inscription as a World Heritage City from the 1st August which will begin at 8.00pm.

We are obviously happy to celebrate the occasion and many exciting events and activities have been lined up. The launch of the celebration will take place at the Stadhuys, Bandar Hilir and will be officiated by the Yang DiPertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaacob.

We will also launch the Merdeka Month celebration on 17th August 2008 and the Eye on Malaysia Melaka will be launched in mid August, thus making it 3 main events in the month of August. Arts and cultural events will be held every alternate day while places of worship will be decorate with lights. Such places are the Masjid Kampung Kling, Masjid Kampung Hulu, St Xavier’s Church, Sam Po Kong temple and the Cheng Hoon Teng temple.

Thanksgiving prayers will also be conducted following the rites of the different religions. I appeal to all associations within the heritage zone to conduct their celebrations along Jalan Hang Jebat, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, Jalan Kampung Pantai and Jalan Hang Lekir.

They must project and promote their culture along these historical roads thus bring life and meaning to the term “living culture”. We will be sending EXCO members and officers to visit such places. The Yang DiPertua Negeri and I will also be visiting some places of interest.

Flood Again in Hollow Malacca

Malacca flooded again. Worst of the lot in the whole of Malacca is none other than in Durian Daun Dalam (an almost 100% Malay Kampung) in the constituency of Duyong, the place I ran and lost with a 806 majority to YB Gan Tian Loo of the MCA (BN). Meaning the constituency is under BN and YB is the current Exco for Public Works and Utilities. That place, the moment a heavy rain fall for about an hour this place will definitely flood. Not only that it flooded but water will just flow into the house. It was devastated, personal belonging, mud entering the house and not forgetting unwanted creatures like snakes and what-have-you.

I was there with my wife and son. Our hearts went with them. It was my son first community work at the age of 3 plus.

I called up YB Sim Tong Him (MP Kota Melaka) and we agreed to make contribution in kind for the people in Kampung Durian Daun Dalam bought from Tong Hup.

Went we were back in the kampung, the waters have yet to subside. It was still drizzled. My prayer is that my Lord will just stop the rain in that place.

Now what is the problem? Heavy rain in an hour and flood? Whose fault? What are the faults? Is there an allegation of corruption?

YB Gan, with all the power he has under the state government and his position as "Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Negeri Kerja Raya dan Kemudahan Awam" he could easily directed Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Negeri Melaka to immediately do what they are supposed to do as directed by the state government and that is to improve the drainage or the passageway so as to curb unnecessary flooding. The project was approved by the state before the 12th general election and why the project stops.

As a result of the sudden discontinuance, Malacca suffers every time when it rains. Worst when it rained when the water tide is up and it's level is the same as the land. Then that will spelt trouble for places like Kampung Durian Daun Dalam, Pengkalan Rama Tengah, the surroundings at Bukit Cina, at the back of City Bayview Hotel, and Kota Laksamana. Honestly I am a bit worried when the monsoon season hits end of the year.

So YB GAN, please do your job, NOT just a wakil rakyat BUT an EXCO. I APPEAL to YOU as a MALACCAN on behalf of the people in Malacca.

DSAI ceramah in Sleepy Hollow Melaka

I attended DSAI’s ceramah in Melaka with my partner (not wife, not homo partner, my partner in a law firm). We reached about 5 minutes before DSAI. Personally, I want to hear for myself from what he has to say on the recent sodomy allegation against him. For the record the event started at 9.00pm sharp and finished about 9.45pm and thereafter another ceramah in Kesang Tua, Jasin, going down south to Muar.

It was his first trip outside Klang Valley just after his arrest and interrogation. For sleepy hollow Malacca, and the confusion as to who the remaining speakers and the place holding the ceramah is still very uncertain until the very last hour, the crowd turn out was quite expected with I believe about 5000 people in the surroundings of the house belonging to one Mr. Lim in Cheng.

Two folds in the ceramah. First is on the recent debate on the petrol price and the Other is OF COURSE, the sodomy allegation. Well, here I think I will be more interested to know what had happened to DSAI in the sodomy allegation and how the police treated him.

As everybody knows that there is an on going investigation on the sodomy case, DSAI questioned the police investigation by asking the police to first prove four main facts before allowing his DNA or blood samples be given to the police.

First, “siapa rogol siapa” as the accuser Mohd Saiful is a much taller and stronger person compare to DSAI. It was stated that DSAI allegedly sodomised him a number of times. I personally find it very strange the allegation by Saiful how DSAI a 61 years old man actually does it or capable of doing it. With a back ache since 10 years ago, it’s definitely difficult. More so why didn’t the accuser ran after the first 'act'. It doesn’t make any sense at all.

Secondly, where were the allegation took place. The last time it was in a condominium that was never in existence as it was only build later. So now WHERE?

Thirdly, which place? Mattress….that was the last time. DSAI joked probably this time the Prosecution would bring the whole bed. He also state on record his fear that his blood be fabricated like what had happen before.

And fourthly, who are the witnesses? Are there any witnesses in this present case.

AND ONLY then “I will give my blood” says DSAI with loud applause and agreement.

There are another area I am wondering, as DSAI’s DNA was taken before, I am sure there must be previous records on it. Why can’t the police look at those previous records and made comparison? DNA is just one of the corroborative evidence and is not something that finalized the guilt of the accused. DNA is permanent, the records are permanent.

Postponed Again....

YB Lim Jack Wong ADUN Bachang), YB Goh Leong San (ADUN Kesidang) and YB Sim Tong Him (MP Kota Melaka) case on the unlawful assembly, so called rioting and 'curi besi' was postponed to another month. They have not being charged, still on police bail. I am now wondering how efficient our police force in their investigation and at the same time the capability on the Attorney General's office in framing the charge against our three local heroes.

Now since the matter happened three months ago without a charge preferred against them, looks like the legal team will now proceed to file a civil suit against the OCPD, government of Malaysia and Police DiRaja Malaysia for the allegation of police brutality and abuse of power against YB Lim who was bitten unnecessarily.

Below are some photographs of the press conference immediately after the release of YB Lim three months ago and also the forum organise by state DAP titled "Polis atau Samseng".

Election Memories....

Walking down memory lane ....with pictures from my computer, after13 days of hard campaigning, all by ourselves with very limited funds and support staff. At the end of March 8th 2008, we won 5 state seats and captured back Kota Melaka with YB Sim Tong Him with more than 11,300 majority defeating the incumbent Wong Nai Chee. The new seat won is Ayer Keroh by YB Khoo Poey Tiong with a majority of 3,205. Our Chairman, YB Goh Leong San won the seat against top notch Kesidang incumbent and former EXCO Koh Nai Kwong with a majority of 1,399. We also captured back the seat of Bachang by our handsome state assemblyman YB Lim Jack Wong with a majority of more than 400. Of course not forgetting, Banda Hilir (YB Tey Kok Kiew) and Kota Laksamana (YB Betty Chew). Kota Laksamana of course with a walloping majority of more than 7000 votes.

Thank you Malaccans for your trust on us to carry the task that is before us. Now with the pictures thanks to Photoscape (Good website for photo editing).

Ali Oh Ali why LAH...

A good summary written by my Saudara Sofi Wahab in his blog. A simple analysis on Ali's 100 days as Chief Minister of Melaka. I must say his 12 point is non exhaustive, there are more and more to come. Just to add a little to Saudara's point which I will list below. Here goes...

(a) Non payment or delay in payment of construction work under Ali's crony causing sub contractors to suffer
(b) Massive flood especially in the city area as well as in Masjid Tanah and the failure to adhere to flood mitigation just because of wanting to beautify the Melaka River
(c) The many telco towers in neighbourhoods
(d) The ultra enforcement of MBMB on small traders and restaurant owners in Taman Melaka Raya without due notice
(e) Failure to conserve and preserve existing historical sites or the buffer zones
(f) Misrepresenting to the Malacca people for UNESCO approval for Bukit Cina
(g) Making Malacca a mini DISNEYLAND thus will cause more jam and unnecessary spending
(h) 6 times blackout in Dun Duyong ever since general election
(i) Building a mega city centre in MITC that covers three districts.
(j) Continuing building unnecessary projects that lead to GAJAH PUTIH
(k) and many more....

----- from Sofi's blog

Demonstration Malacca Style...

the two chiefs (in their own right) discussing terms

YB Sim surrounded by members of the press and media

Malacca Opposition parties and members of the public were very upset with the recent hazy announcement made by the Prime Minister a couple of weeks ago regarding the rising cost of petrol to RM2.70 per litre. As a result of that, two demonstrations and protests were organised by the DAP and PAS separately. DAP had one two weeks ago (pictures above) whereas PAS had theirs today (21st June 2008) (below).

YB Sim and Saudara Sofi exchanged greetings after demonstration

the demo led by Saudara Sofi and Hasbullah

part of the passionate crowd

DAP team

The uniqueness of Pakatan Rakyat

The crowd organised by DAP had more than 100 people at Melaka Sentral excluding state DAP leaders. We were very organised and followed strictly the instruction by the police. We followed the timing of the police. 15 minutes means 15 minutes, no hailer, just a couple of chants and a couple of banner. In fact the police officers commended our very good discipline amongst us (hehe)

Where as today's crowd was more or less between 50-80 people including YB Sim Tong Him (MP Kota Melaka), YB Goh Leong San (ADUN Kesidang), YB Lim Jack Wong (ADUN Bachang), YB Tey Kok Kiew (ADUN Banda Hilir) and myself from the DAP. The rest are from PAS led by Saudara Sofi and Hasbullah Pit @ Sebol. A bit disorganise as we were not sure where the said demonstration were to take place. So it was more of a wait and see. So much so that YB Sim was a little late as he was waiting the other far end from the demonstrating place. Maybe there were lack of communication between everybody.

The difference between the one organised by DAP and PAS is simply this, though their number may be small compared to us in the earlier demonstrations, they (PAS) are definitely a voice that represents the larger majority who are against the recent petrol increase. Though I used to consider them as extremist, but knowing them after the election, they are not extremist but merely passionate like us (DAP).

So there were chants such as "Undur Pak Lah" and "Minyak Turun" amongst others chants with honking of the motorcars and motorcycles passing by us. Speeches were made by the organisers.

I never seen such enthusiast my friends and saudara from PAS. That I must take my hats off to them (Compare to us, one shout and only 10 followed the chants, the rest probably don't know what is going on). So, Good job and BRAVO to my friends from PAS.

I now wonder mana PKR ar....?

Do We All need This?

When everyone is saving money and be thrifty, Malacca State Government unfortunately 'TAK FAHAM' and is doing totally the opposite. All because of one man's vision, Mr. Ali Ketam. His vision is making Malacca a super theme park destroying every inch of green environment as well as the cultural and historical rich Malacca.

Making Malacca a 'Disney' (He did say it proudly) at the expense of our money. With all the change including the mega million-million ringgit in beautifying the Melaka River, Eye of Malacca x 2 (seriously I am not joking there are two, one at Tun Ali and the other will be at Kota Laksamana), Menara Berputar and others billions SUDAH spend. His justification : TOURISM. I think the tourism industry can be strengthen by not making Malacca a Disneyland (with our money instead of Disney investing in Malacca) but strengthening Malacca uniqueness of it's historical and cultural richness.

There are many ways in strengthening tourism besides the above namely, Eco Tourism, Health Tourism, Education Hub tourism, Food Tourism and the many more. Making Disneyland using our money is spending unnecessary instead if he so desire a theme park, he should have lobbied for Disneyland to invest in Malacca. But of course in doing that there are many conditions for such huge player to have faith in our system such as a system that is free from corruption and nepotism and practices effectiveness and integrity in the administration. That in itself will automatically invite

Malaccan Is This Enough?

Found this in the Star...

"In Malacca, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the 10% cut in allowances would take effect this coming July 1 and would include the Speaker.

The Chief Minister’s entertainment would be cut from RM5,500 to RM4,950 while the Speaker and BN exco members will be slashed from RM1,000 to RM900 while BN elected representatives will be cut from RM250 to RM225."

Interesting? I just want to know more. Wait a minute after taking that 10% away, still there are other mega project in Malacca. Can we cut that too?

Will there be Cost Cutting in Malacca?

Terengganu EXCO did just that, i.e. cost cutting (read here). Federal Government also did that albeit only 10%, I now wonder whether Malacca State EXCO will just do that. It's only 10%. It does not pinch either.

But then again, Malacca is spending lots of money for all type of construction namely, Eye of Malaysia oops Malacca, Theme Park somewhere in Klebang, Menara Berputar, Beautifying Malacca River, so call Medical Hub (I believe this is at 'perancangan' stage), Go Kart (somewhere out there), and lots more... all what I call at projek Melaka Mega. And yes not forgetting some Putrajaya type of construction that will cover a huge area in MITC. Here goes the million and million of ringgit.

Two issues I wonder:-

(a) Whether our State Government do likewise to heed the call by the Federal Government.
(b) How much is our state debt as at to date?

Any answers?
