Is that a Threat?

The "Pay the Price" statement reading between the lines, can be really really scary.

The only legal method that would be less scary is instituting civil suits against rumour mongers or other individual for defamation. Besides that I can't think of any other process that is less scary.

I wonder, is that a threat.

So I hope without using the police or other agencies, square it like a man, and sue these individual for defamation. AND LET THE COURT DECIDE.

---- from the Malaysian Insider

NAJIB SAYS PAKATAN MEN WILL 'PAY THE PRICE' FOR ACCUSATIONS

By Adib Zalkapli

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today warned Pakatan Rakyat lawmakers against what he said were false reports about him and the Barisan Nasional.

"Whoever makes false reports will be prosecuted, and this includes statutory declarations. They will pay the price," said Najib when asked to comment on the latest reports by two PR state assemblymen in Perak who implicated him in a defection offer.

His warning today was the harshest statement yet from Najib in response to allegations of bribing lawmakers to defect to BN.

Yesterday DAP's Keshvinder Singh and PKR legislator Abdul Yunus Jamsari lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission alleging that they were offered up to RM20 million to defect to BN.

"It is up to MACC. Let the MACC handle it. We didn't do that. They just made up the story," said Najib.

The Umno deputy president, who is also the party's Perak chairman, has been repeatedly accused of engineering the defections of PR lawmakers that led to the downfall of the state government.

At the height of the Perak crisis a local PKR leader made a statutory declaration, saying that Najib made an offer of RM50 million just after the March 8 general election to buy over at least two PR assemblymen to pave the way for the formation of a BN government.

The prime minister-designate was also accused by PKR leaders of physically threatening PR reps to defect.

Football Match ala PR VERSUS BN

March 9 2008 Pakatan won State Election (1-0)
Pakatan Government Endeared by the people (2-0)
Bota State assemblyman join Pakatan (3-0)
Four Froggies jump to BN (3-1)
Najib announced BN has majority (3-2)
Dr Zambri sworn in as MB (3-3)
Nizar declares he is legitimate MB under the Perak Constitution and file declaration in High Court KL (4-3)
V. Sivakumar declares he is still the Speaker (5-3)

The score as to date (5 for Pakatan and 3 for BN)

---- below taken from the Star

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — Perak's constitution makes no provisions for the removal of its legislative assembly speaker and Barisan Nasional is stuck with DAP's V. Sivakumar.

In a statement released in Ipoh yesterday, Sivakumar confirmed he remained the speaker of the Perak state assembly.

According to Selangor Speaker Teng Chang Khim today, the Tronoh assemblyman cannot even be removed (as Perak speaker) by a vote of no confidence.

He said that both the federal and Selangor constitution provide that the speaker shall vacate his office — if the assembly at any time so resolves.

However there is no such provision in the Perak constitution.

The Sungai Pinang assemblyman, who is a lawyer, said Sivakumar can only vacate his office when he ceases to be a member of the Perak Legislative Assembly or if he is disqualified from holding other office, or resigns on his own accord.

Effectively the constitutional deadlock griping the silver state is set to continue.

Sivakumar can, if he chooses, bar former Pakatan Rakyat defectors, who have "resigned" from the assembly, which will effectively reduce BN's majority in the House.

The Perak speaker had previously declared that assemblymen Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, Osman Jailu and Hee Yit Foong had vacated their seats after he received their resignation letters.

Teng said the trio may have to go to court to break the deadlock but even a ruling in their favour will not change the fact that Sivakumar will continue as speaker.

Excluding the trio, BN will have 28 members in the House to PR's 27, with Sivakumar as speaker.

Should Sivakumar vacate his office for any reason, the House will be considered a hung legislature because the Perak constitution provides the assembly shall transact no business while the office of speaker is vacant other than the election of a speaker.

With no clear majority, BN's Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir will have no choice but to seek the dissolution of the House and obtain consent from the Perak Ruler for fresh elections.

However the sentiment of the people is clearly against BN and it would want to avoid statewide elections at all cost.

"I believe they will opt to retain Sivakumar," said Teng.

However the Speaker has wide-ranging discretion in the assembly and Sivakumar has the potential to be a very painful thorn in the side of BN and Zambry.

"The speaker's decision on the Standing Orders cannot be challenged except by way of motion (a lengthy process which includes holding a debate in the House)."

Ironically few people know this better than Teng.

On April 25, 2005 , he was suspended from the Selangor Legislative Assembly following an argument with then Speaker Datuk Seri Onn Ismail.

In an act of defiance Teng threw a copy of the Standing Orders into a bin when Onn rejected his motion of no confidence against then Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo.

Teng was suspended with no pay for 30 months.

Unity Government..... an exploration?

I read the Star (below) and found an interesting idea worth thinking by everybody. A Unity Government. A thought by Ku Li in forming a Unity Government consisting of all key players, and yes, including members from Pakatan Rakyat.

A good exploration. Though it has been done once before in 1974, and after 30 years in 2008, we are hearing again this time from Ku Li. Nevertheless there will be more complication this round as UMNO may not want to just put a white flag to a Unity Government. To those that may not understand the term, it is basically a coalition governments consisting of all major parties in the legislature.

So what Ku Li has in mind is something very interesting and entertaining. For me it is just a tickling of the thoughts. Pak Lah and his ging-gang will always want to maintain power. I don't think the other minor party especially within BN component parties will be willing to let go power. MCA (15 MPs) and MIC (3 MPs) may not agree to see DAP and PKR (a party that represent the majority of non Malays) to take over their respective places representing the two races. Forget about Gerakan, PPP and the other minor party. The big gainners are probably PBB (14 MPs) (Sarawak) and maybe UPKO for having 4 MPs (Sabah).

Well I must agree for once with Independent Pasir Mas MP Datuk Paduka Ibrahim Ali that should this Unity Government be accepted, then, first and foremost, integrity and secondly the aim to foster 'perpaduan'. The Unity Government must strive for integrity and unifying all Malaysians disregarding political and ideological differences. It's either Pak Lah or DSAI.

------- (the Star)

KOTA BARU: Veteran Umno politician Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has discussed with PAS, DAP and PKR leaders the possibility of forming a national unity Federal Government as a way out of the current political and economic stalemate.

As a precedent, he cited former premier Tun Abdul Razak Hussein’s Barisan Nasional model that came from the original Alliance coalition of Umno, MCA and MIC.

Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had sought appointments with the former Finance Minister.

According to Tengku Razaleigh, the three requested for the meeting to discuss a perceived national crisis reflected by low confidence in the existing political and economic situation.

Tengku Razaleigh said he had explored with them the possibility of formulating a minimum basis for a national front, a Government formed out of a sincere need for national unity.

He said a national unity government could be formed together with the Barisan as a coming together of all key players to cope with the new political developments in the country, brought on by higher expectations of the electorate and to cope with challenges in a globalised economy.

Tengku Razaleigh, who has drawn up plans to overcome the present economical and political stalemate, said he would discuss these with Umno members and the people over the coming weeks.

He said he was steadfast to his commitment in offering himself as a candidate for the Umno president’s post following the worst ever performance by Barisan in the March 8 general election.

The results saw Barisan lose its two-thirds majority in Parliament and four states, as well as fail to wrest back Kelantan.

Among the states lost, Penang and Selangor, are major contributors to the nation’s gross domestic product.

In a related development, Independent Pasir Mas MP Datuk Paduka Ibrahim Ali supports the idea of the proposal but had serious doubts as to whether it could be implemented today in comparison to 1974.

He said there would have to be huge compromises and he wondered whether the likes of Anwar, Lim, Abdul Hadi, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Najib, Sabah and Sarawak leaders would be able to accept that.

He added that the basis of a unity government must be integrity.

SAPP out of BN

Press statement by SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee after the SAPP Supreme Council Meeting at Party HQ, Kota Kinabalu on September 17, 2008 (4:30 pm)

  1. The BN has lost its "BN spirit". It was not that the people who did not want the BN, it was the BN who abandoned the people. In spite of repeated appeals from some BN members to other BN leaders to be more sensitive to the peoples' feelings, these leaders continue to treat the people with contempt. Perhaps, after 50 years of uninterrupted government, some BN leaders have got it in their heads that they have a divine right to rule.

  2. On March 8, the people had spoken out loud and clear. The BN paid a heavy price. But yet the BN refuses to learn. The ruthless increase in fuel prices on June 4 and the failure to tackle inflation and economic slowdown have dealt a severe blow to ordinary people. The recent blatant abuse of the ISA against an innocent journalist, an MP and a blogger only confirms that the BN leadership has not learned from their mistakes. The shameful Taiwan trip by 49 BN MPs and the instigation of racial animosities have aggravated the collapse of confidence among the people and leaders, not only on the PM but the BN as well. The PM's budget 2009 was totally uninspiring and has already been discredited even before it was debated in Parliament. The BN has lost its moral authority to rule. Numerical majority in Parliament means little if the people no longer respect you.

  3. Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's resignation only confirms what many lawyers already knew that is that the Prime Minister and his government has never had the intention to reform the judiciary. Datuk Zaid's exposure about "the BN government being paralysed by internal strife and divisions" has also been known to many people in the BN. In many other countries, such paralysis of government will lead to fresh general elections.

  4. The PM himself appeared drifting, not knowing what has been happening around him. SAPP has nothing personal against the PM and family. None of the matters raised by SAPP concerns his person, his family, son, daughter, son-in-law or businesses. SAPP is only concerned about the issues affecting the country such as the need for good governance, the dangers of racial polarization and injustice of economic imbalances to be tackled effectively.

  5. SAPP hereby proudly dissociates ourselves from these shameful wrong doings of the BN government. SAPP further believes that the BN is not capable of practicing good governance and non-racial politics; that BN has no intention in granting autonomy to Sabah, returning 20% of oil royalties and Labuan to Sabah, implement Borneonisation, review unfair federal laws and departments in Sabah, solve the illegal immigrants problems and remove social and economic imbalances. The BN leadership even refused to recognize historical facts by denying September 16 as Malaysia Day, 45 years.

  6. SAPP had only wanted to see that the legitimate rights of Sabah and the unfairness suffered by Malaysians in Sabah be given due attention with results. The BN must realize that, if not for Sabah and Sarawak, BN would be in the opposition today. But instead of sincerely working to solve the issues raised by SAPP, the BN has chosen to embark on a course of action to destroy SAPP. The SAPP Supreme Council hereby condemns the attempts of BN operatives to destroy SAPP through divide and rule tactics and by abusing the economic resources of the BN State and Federal Governments aimed at instigating SAPP members and leaders to destroy SAPP.

  7. As a matter of fact, by deliberately excluding SAPP from four consecutive meetings of the Dewan Tertinggi and two meetings of the Management Committee ever since the announcement of no confidence on the Prime Minister on June 18, the BN has effectively terminated the membership of SAPP. The SAPP Supreme Council hereby declares that SAPP is no longer a member of the Barisan Nasional coalition of parties.

  8. SAPP is now free from the BN. SAPP shall henceforth use this freedom to pursue our autonomous political path to fulfill our mission to establish a trustworthy government and a progressive, just and harmonious society. We are no longer subservient to BN. We now have the master key to our own house. We shall build a brighter future for our people and the younger generations to come.

  9. SAPP members who hold political appointments in the executive branch of Government shall relinquish their posts by giving the due notice under the constitution and relevant rules and regulations, starting at the Cabinet level.

  10. With our experienced MPs, ADUNs and other party colleagues, SAPP shall provide quality opposition in and outside the Parliament and State Legislative Assembly until the time comes when SAPP is ready to be back in government.

  11. I call on our members to be brave. Do not despair. Remember that one of our party culture seven values is Resilience. From the day we join the party, we knew that things can get very rough for us. Yes, together we shall overcome this difficult period because the people are with us. With the strong encouragement and support of the people, SAPP will succeed in our struggle.

  12. In view of the current fasting month of Ramadhan, SAPP shall only embark on a series of political activities two weeks after Hari Raya. We shall plan a road map to victory in future elections. We shall elaborate how we plan to achieve the eight-points declaration, namely:

    (i) Good governance and non-racial politics,
    (ii) Autonomy for Sabah,
    (iii) 20% oil royalties,
    (iv) Return of Labuan,
    (v) Review of unfair laws and detrimental departments,
(vi) Borneonisation of the federal civil service,
(vii) Solution to the illegal immigrants issue, and
(viii) Redress economic and social imbalances.

    Thank you.

DSAI says more than 31 will Cross

More than 31 BN Backbenchers will cross over to Pakatan.

DSAI refused to disclose the names of alll intending to cross over as he is afraid that the government will harassed each member of parliament. DSAI also suggested that should the Prime Minister wishes to know who, DSAI will release the list to him. DSAI also gave the Prime Minister some time to think about the whole matter.

In fact yesterday, a letter was send to the Prime Minister's office demanding four areas i.e.

1) That BN garmendoes not hinder or prevent the MPs from acting in accordance with their conscience and judgement;

2) That the BN garman should not invoke the ISA to detain MPs (like what happen to Teresa);

3) That BN garman does not invoke emergency laws or suspend the Constitution or dissolve Parliament; and

4) That the BN garmen shall not impose roadblocks or impede MPs from going to Parliament or any institution of government.

----- Taken from Star

PETALING JAYA: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has claimed that more than 31 Barisan MPs have agreed to cross over to Pakatan Rakyat.

He, however, refused to reveal the names of the 31 MPs.

Anwar told a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya on Tuesday that he would do so when he meets the Prime Minister.

The Permatang Pauh MP also claimed that the transition to the new Government has been delayed a few days pending the meeting with Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition.

He said it was up to Abdullah to agree to the meeting and its date.

Anwar a Hypocrite?

10 years political wilderness, a long lesson learnt to DSAI. As such he may have known the pain as a prisoner before. Well I am giving a benefit of the doubt to DSAI to prove his worth to Malaysian. Between the lesser of two evil, I'll choose DSAI to lead. Anyway we have already given 51 years to Barisan Nasional/Alliance. So I don't mind gambling it on DSAI this round. Time to change.

Anwar branded a hypocrite on ISA

KOTA BARU: The sole Independent MP Datuk Paduka Ibrahim Ali has called on PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to stop being a hypocrite with regard to the Internal Security Act (ISA).

When Anwar was a federal minister in 1987, he defended the Government’s move to use ISA in “Ops Lalang,” Ibrahim said.

“But now, Anwar is asking for Selangor senior state exco member Teresa Kok to be released.

“How ironic. When I was among those detained under Ops Lalang, Anwar kept quiet,” he added,

On a new Federal Government being formed come Sept 16 or even later, Ibrahim said he fully supported it if PAS led the initiative to do so.

He added that PAS should nominate one of its leaders to become the new prime minister.

“I am neither supporting Barisan nor PKR but I would support PAS because they are a strategic ally,” said the outspoken MP, adding that he could not support a PKR initiative led by Anwar.

“I cannot accept Anwar because of the hypocrisy of his politics,” said Ibrahim.

Flood Again in Hollow Malacca

Malacca flooded again. Worst of the lot in the whole of Malacca is none other than in Durian Daun Dalam (an almost 100% Malay Kampung) in the constituency of Duyong, the place I ran and lost with a 806 majority to YB Gan Tian Loo of the MCA (BN). Meaning the constituency is under BN and YB is the current Exco for Public Works and Utilities. That place, the moment a heavy rain fall for about an hour this place will definitely flood. Not only that it flooded but water will just flow into the house. It was devastated, personal belonging, mud entering the house and not forgetting unwanted creatures like snakes and what-have-you.

I was there with my wife and son. Our hearts went with them. It was my son first community work at the age of 3 plus.

I called up YB Sim Tong Him (MP Kota Melaka) and we agreed to make contribution in kind for the people in Kampung Durian Daun Dalam bought from Tong Hup.

Went we were back in the kampung, the waters have yet to subside. It was still drizzled. My prayer is that my Lord will just stop the rain in that place.

Now what is the problem? Heavy rain in an hour and flood? Whose fault? What are the faults? Is there an allegation of corruption?

YB Gan, with all the power he has under the state government and his position as "Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Negeri Kerja Raya dan Kemudahan Awam" he could easily directed Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Negeri Melaka to immediately do what they are supposed to do as directed by the state government and that is to improve the drainage or the passageway so as to curb unnecessary flooding. The project was approved by the state before the 12th general election and why the project stops.

As a result of the sudden discontinuance, Malacca suffers every time when it rains. Worst when it rained when the water tide is up and it's level is the same as the land. Then that will spelt trouble for places like Kampung Durian Daun Dalam, Pengkalan Rama Tengah, the surroundings at Bukit Cina, at the back of City Bayview Hotel, and Kota Laksamana. Honestly I am a bit worried when the monsoon season hits end of the year.

So YB GAN, please do your job, NOT just a wakil rakyat BUT an EXCO. I APPEAL to YOU as a MALACCAN on behalf of the people in Malacca.

D-Day for PM Abdullah.....

The motion is in last Friday. The motion will be debated on Monday and that is IF, YES IF, the Dewan Speaker allows it. So if he allows it, then there will be a debate and subsequently a vote. If the vote is successful then goodbye to Abdullah Badawi and a new Prime Minister is appointed by the YDP Agong. This was never done before, and if it is so, it will be unprecedented.

I doubt a vote be taken and should a vote be taken whether by secret ballot or show of hands, the motion will be defeated by a majority even if SUPP voted together with Pakatan Rakyat. Unless of course a swing of votes from some disgruntled members from the ruling UMNO and members from East Malaysia.

Anyway let us watch and see with ONLY LESS than 12 hours to see whether the motion be debated.

A Gimmick? You Decide...

A political gimmick? A BN gimmick... I wonder why NOW. Nothing short of getting back Indian votes I believe. Suddenly there was a sense of guilt by the powers-that-be. RM120 million for the Indian community, is it enough for four years, hmmmm, divided by four, and if my maths is right each year the Community will get about more or less RM30 million. I don't think that is enough? Allocations for what? Poverty? Education? Estate Workers? Economy? Employment? Everything is still so uncertain....

Gimmick. Another empty promise

Govt approves RM120m for Indian community

By A. LETCHUMANAN

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government has approved a RM120mil allocation for the development of the Indian community for four years following a request by the MIC.

MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said the RM30mil allocation each year would be used to help single mothers become self sufficient as well as for youth programmes and other programmes to help the needy.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi gave the approval recently," he told reporters Saturday after the end of the one-day MIC general assembly here.

He said that the allocation was part of the RM300mil sought from the Government in May to help poor Malaysian Indians.

The assembly went smoothly without any untoward incidents as Samy Vellu was in his element, ticking off delegates as well as cracking jokes. He also urged the branch chairmen to read the various booklets and use them as "ammunition" to answer the party's critics.

Several delegates touched on education, economy, employment and party unity while some spoke on the need for the president to continue to lead the party.

Former MIC deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam, who also spoke, called on members to forget their differences and work together towards strengthening the party.

"I am saddened with the party's loss in the elections. We have to find the weaknesses and rectify them," he said, adding that the MIC was a strong party.

Subramaniam said the party did not take heed of the activities of the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) as they were deemed to be fighting for the rights of the Hindu religion.

"But they (Hindraf) were hijacked by the Opposition and they fell for it, requesting the people vote for the Opposition. This was a big disappointment to us," he said, adding that the challenge is to bring them to the MIC fold.

He also praised Samy Vellu for not giving up but continuing to work for the betterment of the Indian community.

The assembly passed five resolutions. One of the resolutions expressed support for Abdullah’s leadership as PM.

The MIC also urged the Federal Government to establish representative committees at the state and district levels to serve the people in the five Opposition-held states.

This was necessary, as MIC has no representation at the state and local governments in Selangor, Perak, Kedah, Penang and Kelantan.

In another resolution, MIC urged the Government to monitor the delivery and implementation mechanisms in order to achieve the targets within the specified time frame and to allocate sufficient funds and personnel.

The party also called on the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry to set up enforcement squads to monitor the prices in rural areas and to prosecute retailers and shopkeepers found to have raised prices without approval.

Ali Oh Ali why LAH...

A good summary written by my Saudara Sofi Wahab in his blog. A simple analysis on Ali's 100 days as Chief Minister of Melaka. I must say his 12 point is non exhaustive, there are more and more to come. Just to add a little to Saudara's point which I will list below. Here goes...

(a) Non payment or delay in payment of construction work under Ali's crony causing sub contractors to suffer
(b) Massive flood especially in the city area as well as in Masjid Tanah and the failure to adhere to flood mitigation just because of wanting to beautify the Melaka River
(c) The many telco towers in neighbourhoods
(d) The ultra enforcement of MBMB on small traders and restaurant owners in Taman Melaka Raya without due notice
(e) Failure to conserve and preserve existing historical sites or the buffer zones
(f) Misrepresenting to the Malacca people for UNESCO approval for Bukit Cina
(g) Making Malacca a mini DISNEYLAND thus will cause more jam and unnecessary spending
(h) 6 times blackout in Dun Duyong ever since general election
(i) Building a mega city centre in MITC that covers three districts.
(j) Continuing building unnecessary projects that lead to GAJAH PUTIH
(k) and many more....

Offer to Shut Up

SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee dropped another blow. First was on Wednesday that the SAPP will vote for a no confidence motion against the Prime Minister and today's Star Datuk Yong fires yet another salvo which he claimed that "the offer of Senator and envoy posts smacked of bribery". The letter of offer came in 17th June 2008 i.e. the day before the bombshell.

I was just thinking yesterday about it and wah-lah, Datuk Yong just answered my mischievous thought. Corruption in the highest level. An offer of a post to shut you up. I think the people in Sabah had enough of bull shit.

Too many promises made by Kuala Lumpur and I understand why the people in Sabah is not too happy with the happening around. From fuel price and oil royalty to illegal immigrants. These are long out standing issues. I was told that the reason Sabah local parties joined the Barisan was to settle those issues but in fact as at to date nothing was addressed. Talk to any Sabahans and that is the present feeling. As such the voices of the Sabah MPs in parliament recently are voices that must be adhered to. I know for sure that SAPP is not alone on this.

Anyway there is nothing for Datuk Yong to lose now. So wack LAH. Last Man Standing.

Whose next?

Not August Meh?

This is what happen when you have a sudden announcement on the petrol hike in Malaysia. Adakah Kerajaan ini berjiwa RAKYAT? And I damn thought that it was in August. Thank God that I ignorantly pumped full tank this afternoon.

this one at Petronas in Cheng. Jauh lagi, at least a kilometre.

this one is Caltex

Can you see the shell logo? Cars queuing for petrol

welcome to Shell

Sometimes I wonder why are we so stupid in voting Barang Naik every time when the general election is called. CORRECTION, half of MALAYSIANS are so stupid. So much so that because of this half, it affects the majority.

AND what you have BARANG NAIK.

So to all Malaysians, CONGRATULATIONS FOR VOTING BARISAN NASIONAL.

There are more to come...

Parliamentarian Clowing

Though I may agree with the writer, Miss Jenny Chow regarding the behaviour of some of our wakil rakyat, I may also may want to reply (not to rebut) her letter.

As for me, there are certain actions which I feel some attention are needed to be stressed. The celebration of a birthday of an ISA detainee, for me, is a symbolic gesture of a daughter desire to celebrate the birthday of the father who is illegally and unlawfully detained without trial under the Internal Security Act.

That gesture is not a cheap publicity stunt by a little girl but basically a cry out from her heart in wanting to see her father release unconditionally. That is her right to express. As such coming to parliament to express that expression is something all Malaysians must take note of. AND not just push aside and say "it's funny" or some may say "security of parliament" and whatever reasons anybody and everybody will find. More often than not ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS and the message is send across.

On the other hand, giving red hard-boiled eggs to newsmen to mark their first month in the Dewan, is something 'should not be done'. Nevertheless, give them the benefit of a doubt that probably it was just after the mudslinging session in the Dewan that the two MPs here are just intending to take a 'kit kat' from the heaviness attachment of the Honourable Dewan. Sometimes to clown around is such a stress reliever.

Now I also heard from almost everybody that there are such waste of time by our parliamentarians. Besides the name calling like Bigfoot and 'Monyet', the Standing Orders are there to be followed. As such I hope sincerely our parliamentarians follow strictly the Orders. The Standing Orders are rules of parliamentary procedures which all parliamentarian must know and follow. The Speaker of the House must ensure that strict application of the Orders are to be adhered to. Unfortunately, our Parliamentarians be that from BN or Pakatan, failed to follow. This make it a junk house instead of the Honourable House.

The Standing Orders or in malay, Peraturan Mesyuarat, gives order to the House. With that order, motion are debated, statements made are explained, arguments are raised. So parliamentarians follow the Order please. As such when YB Karpal or Uncle Kit invoke the Standing Orders, it simply means to their opposing side, follow the Order. Simple as that.

My two cents opinion.....

Just get on with the job you were elected to do©New Straits Times (Letters Section) (Used by permission)
by Jenny Chow, Alor Star

I WAS amazed to see a picture of two MPs distributing red hard-boiled eggs to newsmen at the Parliament to mark their first month in the Dewan Rakyat.

Not long ago, it was a whole group of Opposition MPs celebrating the birthday of the daughter of an Internal Security Act detainee.

It looks really funny, as in my opinion, the Dewan Rakyat is supposed to be a place where MPs have their meetings, debate and all that important stuff.

Before this, I always thought highly of the Dewan Rakyat and the important issues.

Unfortunately, when I look at the Dewan Rakyat now, all I see is a bunch of people trying new stuff to "impress" the rakyat who voted for them.

Sometimes, some of the MPs also like to debate over trivial issues and waste the Dewan's time. It's annoying to see these people putting up all these acts.

To me, there is no need to over-react and MPs should only debate important matters.

With MPs celebrating birthdays and distributing red hard-boiled eggs, I wonder what else will happen in the future.

Now it's Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong

When Tun Dr Mahatir resigned from UMNO, I was thinking a little deeper about his position in Proton, Langkawi thingy etc that links with the present federal government. So when Mokhzaini resigned following his father's footstep, I was also curiously thinking whether will his act damage his position as chairman of the Sepang International Circuit.

Petronas and the Sepang thingy are government owned. So since UMNO is part of the government and it's President is the Prime Minister of the country, wouldn't it be a contradictory of the principles of Barisan Nasional that it's members cannot or rather be prohibited to join or be employed by the Pakatan Rakyat state government.

Now since Tun and son is no more in UMNO, wouldn't it be contradicting the principle of BN? This can be seen in the positions of Datuk Lee Kah Choon in Penang and Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong in Selangor. The former has resigned from Gerakan and the latter was given a show cause letter. So, macam mana dengan Tun and son? Will they be asked to resign from their position. Looks like Najib must telan his own sliver for making statements against Datuk Lee and Datuk Dr Tan.

However my opinion is this, there is no harm for opposition members taking up government position in state agencies or federal government link companies. I think this is a healthy trend as it gives more accountability, integrity and competency in running the administration of government.

It is still never too late for BN to learn from it's Pakatan rival. BN or UMNO must not be arrogant to think that they are untouchable and can never be destroyed. In fact the recent election serve as a lesson they learn albeit a very bitter lesson that almost cause BN it's federal seat.

Nalla speaks to PM...ONLY 5 MINUTES

So Datuk Nalla is turning to Pak Lah for support rather than supporting Pak Lah. But what is more interesting is the statement he made about Datuk Seri Samy, the no more influence person who is the President of a no more influence party. Put it this way, Datuk Nalla will be irrelavant soon as BN will soon be irrelevant.

He describe MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu as a good friend, and said:

“He taught me a lot of things when I was young. He can also be my guru.”

If that is the case why don't just close shop MUIP and join MIC. So in my opinion is another politicking in politicians.

----- Taken from the Star.

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s estranged friend and former tennis partner Datuk K.S. Nallakaruppan met with Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Wednesday to pledge his full support to the Prime Minister.

The meeting, however, lasted only for five minutes, as the Prime Minister was busy.

“He said he would fix another appointment,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Nallakaruppan denied that Abdullah was a weak leader, and on his way out.

“To me, he is a good leader. That’s why I have come to support him. He’s my Prime Minister and I have to trust him and I have to love him,” he added.

Nallakaruppan, who was formerly with PKR, said he did not believe Anwar’s claims that he had enough Barisan Nasional MPs who wanted to crossover to topple the Barisan Federal government.

“All the time he bluffs me, so I take this as one of his lies,” said the 61-year-old businessman.

“Morning, his face is different, afternoon his face is again different and night it is different too.

"I don’t believe him and I don’t trust him.”

Nallakaruppan said he had tolerated Anwar, whom he described as someone “who did not know how to value friendship,” for more than 30 years.

“Now I want to keep my distance,” he added.

To a question he said, Anwar could be the Prime Minister in waiting for as long as he liked.

“He can wait. I thought he will change, but he has not,” he added.

Nallakaruppan quit PKR last May after a rift with Anwar over not being chosen as the candidate for the Ijok by-election.

Barisan Nasional won the by-election.

He then went on to set up his own party, Malaysian Indian United Party (MUIP).

Nallakaruppan, who is the president, said he had applied for MUIP to join Barisan.

He believed that MIUP would get better support under Barisan.

Mahatir's Resignation from UMNO part 2

A really good and detailed piece from NST on the verbal resignation by Tun Dr Mahatir as No. 01 life member of UMNO and it all started from a dare by one UMNO member named Ismail Jaziz. I wonder whether this chap regrets for putting a dare. Be that as it may, Tun took the dare and announced his resignation that took Malaysia by storm.

It literally shook not only those from UMNO or BN but it took the Opposition by surprise too. Nobody expect what he did was so real.

Questions or rather issues, will his act of defiance in resigning made PM Abdullah to step down. Second, will there be an exodus of members becoming independent or joining the Opposition, especially if it is assemblyman or parliamentarian. If that is so, than (i) Pakatan Rakyat gets stronger (ii) Pakatan Rakyat will form Federal Government as Pak Lah will not garner enough support in the House and eventually a snap election be held; AND (iii) Some states especially Negeri Sembilan will see change in state government.

Well things gets more interesting..... watch for Part 3

Tun Dr Mahathir©New Straits Times (Used by permission)
by Noor Adzman Baharuddin & Adib Povera

ALOR STAR, Mon: After goading Umno members today to temporarily resign from Umno as a sign of protest against the party president, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad took up a “dare” to take the lead by resigning from the party he had been a founding member of since 1946. However, he implored Umno members taking up his challenge not to join any other party and remain independent, at least until the Umno leadership was determined (after the December party elections). He indicated that he will only rejoin the party when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi steps down as Umno president.

Dr Mahathir, an Umno life member, was answering questions from the floor after giving a talk at a forum entitled 'Future of the Malays after the 12th General Election' at the Star City Hotel in Alor Star, organised by the Kedah Malay Assembly Hall, when a member of the audience asked him if he would take the lead in quitting Umno.

Identifying himself as Ismail Jaziz, he asked Dr Mahathir if he would take the lead since he had mooted the idea. To this, Dr Mahathir, in a serious tone said: “Waa, saya di cabar ni…(looks like I have been dared). Yes, I will leave Umno...until the party leadership is determined. Other Umno members should follow me.”

Loud cheers erupted from the 1,500 attendees, which included assembly chairman Tan Sri Khalid Ahmad, Jerlun Umno division chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Ariffin, State Assemblyman for Kuala Nerang Datuk Syed Sobri Syed Hashim, State Assemblywoman for Sungai Tiang Suraya Yaacob and former Kedah Menteri Besar Tan Sri Sanusi Junid.

"Malays, Umno members and many other people have sent Abdullah messages to express dissatisfaction with his leadership, especially after the March 8 general election but he remains unaffected. We have to be radical and brave and this is the only way to bring him down," he said.

It is not immediately clear if his son, Datuk Mukhriz, also the MP for Jerlun and an Umno Youth Exco member, would follow suit. Another of Dr Mahathir’s son, Datuk Mokhzani, was reported as saying that his father's decision was a “sign of no confidence” in Abdullah’s leadership.

Abdullah, in an immediate reaction, expressed shock at Dr Mahathir's resignation, saying" I didn't expect him to leave but I will continue to fight for the party."

One notable Umno leader who has apparently took on Dr Mahathir's call to resign is Sanusi, who said he will release an official statement later.

However, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, once Dr Mahathir's greatest foe but now seen as a key ally, dismissed expectations that he too would quit Umno, saying that he will continue with his bid to challenge Abdullah for the party presidency in the December party elections.

Datuk Shahrir Samad, an Umno supreme council member and Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, was quoted by AFP as saying that Dr Mahathir's resignation may precipitate a general election.

"The shock resignation may compel many Umkno members, especially MPs, to quit Umno, thus forcing the Prime Minister to form a new Government or call for a snap election," Shahrir was quoted as saying.

The former Prime Minister's announcement also caught his aides by surprise.

Dr Mahathir explained that this was not the first time he was out of Umno. “Between 1969 and 1970, I was expelled from Umno but later, when many Malays and Umno members still supported me, I re-entered Umno. There was no problem. Just don’t join other parties.”

At a Press conference later, Dr Mahathir said he will submit his resignation from Umno as soon as possible.

He explained that that he decided to leave Umno because he felt the party could no longer serve as a genuine political party to protect Malay rights and interests, Umno's founding objectives.

Dr Mahathir claimed Umno had now been made a party to only recognise Abdullah as Umno president and accord importance to the prime minister's family interests, with the nation's welfare taking a backseat.

"I can list out the things that Abdullah had done to the detriment of our nation's interests," he said. "The Umno of today no longer holds to the party's founding goals when it was formed 62 years ago. That is why I have no hesitation whatsoever to leave the party," he said.

Dr Mahathir said it was high time for Umno members who love the party to be bold for the future of Malays and that such a move would not cause the Malays to lose their political power.

"The Malays would not lose their political power. They want to correct things not because they simply want to leave. If they are brave to safeguard the party and the Malay struggles, then they must also be brave to take actions. However, we find that many Umno members can't even attend certain gatherings...division chairmen also cannot attend...what is this?"

Dr Mahathir said when Tengku Razaleigh opposed him in 1988, former prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman had thrown his support for his opponent but he had never stopped any member to campaign against him (Dr Mahathir).

"Now, we cannot say anything against the prime minister or the party president. This is not Umno," he said.

Asked if Umno state assemblymen and MPs should also quit the party, he said they should if they truly love the party.

Asked if his call and decision could be construed as him giving up on Umno, Dr Mahathir said he would not ask others to follow him if he himself was afraid to do so.

Asked if his call would give added pressure for Abdullah to resign from his posts soon, Mahathir said: "I don't know about pressure. This man could not understand anything."

Dr Mahathir insisted that his resignation had nothing to do with the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Lingam video clip.

"That is a court matter and I go to the courts. If they make allegations against me, I could also do the same and if I am found guilty, they can put me in jail but if I am not guilty, please don't arrest me anyway," he said. “I am just protesting against the Abdullah’s leadership of Umno and country."

In their report leaked to the Press, the Commission of Inquiry named Dr Mahathir, lawyer Datuk V. K. Lingam, former chief justices Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim and Tun Eusoff Chin, tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan and former tourism minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor, for conspiring to fix the appointments and promotions of judges.

The government's then instructed the Attorney-General to begin investigations into the six figures named but Dr Mahathir responded by claiming that he would "not settle for less" than his day in court so that he could defend himself against allegations that he was at the centre of a judicial appointments scandal in 2001.

Dr Mahathir had hoped that when investigations into the conspiracy were completed, he would be charged so that he can reveal what really went on behind the scenes at the time, including instances of judges lobbying him for promotions.

Mahathir’s resignation was a culmination of two years of vitriolic criticisms against Abdullah. Dr Mahathir began finding fault with Abdullah after the latter cancelled several mega projects initiated by the ex-PM, notably the new bridge that would link Singapore with Johor Baru.

In an immediate reaction, former Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat said Dr Mahathir is was the only leader who left Umno, pointing to Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tun Hussein Onn who never returned to Umno.

“Yet, they were founding fathers of the party. They never return to the party after retiring so there is nothing unusual about his resignation. It has happened in the past and it happens now. It is unfortunate that after making so much noise, he is leaving the party.

“His leaving would not have a serious effect to the party and I do not think that his action will be heeded by other members as they still love the party. After the last general election, Umno members have reflected deeply on what they should do to revive and revitalise Umno. They would not desert the party.”

MCA vice president Datuk Ong Tee Keat said the resignation came as a shock to him because he never expected Dr Mahathir to do it. “Not at this juncture. At the moment, I am not sure what sort of effect or ripples it will cause BN and MCA. But I am convinced Umno, as an established party within the BN coalition, would have sufficient experience and maturity in resolving such problem. What is more important now is for BN to stay firmly together”.

Gerakan secretary general Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye expressed shock at Dr Mahathir’s resignation. “This is shocking, it’s hard to believe. I hope this will not bring further instability to Barisan Nasional. I also hope things will settle down and the matter resolved in a calm manner.”

MIC secretary-general Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam said it was unfortunate for Dr Mahathir to resign from the party which he had been a president for a long time. “His instigating others to follow suit in light of the current problems faced by the party, will further weaken it. We hope other members will be clear-headed in this matter.”

Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee said Dr Mahathir’s resignation sent shock waves because of his immense influence among Umno grassroots.” I think the nation is in for some exciting politics,” he said.

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Liew Vui Keong said Dr Mahathir’s decision should be respected and accepted by all concerned. “I can only wish him the best. His resignation may cause a ripple, but how far it will have an effect is best left to the party.”

Sabah Umno liaison committee secretary Datuk Yahya Hussin described the resignation as “very unfortunate” because he was “our president.”

Pakatan Rakyat or Barisan Nasional as Federal Government

I am so fed up to answer the same old song everytime when people will come up to me and ask the damn same question (sometimes the same old people) whether DAP-PKR-PAS can govern the country or the state. Or whether can the Pakatan Government able to lead this country or the state. I am even more shock to hear some even went as far as showing sense of regret for voting Pakatan Rakyat just because they wanted to deny the 2/3 in Parliament. Anyway, my same old answer is "GIVE THEM A CHANCE". Vote them out if they don't progress in the next five years.

Be that as it may, in the past 50 years did the Dacing ever score big in good governance and administration? Well the only thing I know is that there are more harm than good and yet we are still surviving. Meaning, kita boleh tahanlah. Tahan serangan kerajaan Barisan Nasional. I must say that we are more slaves than master of our land. Worst thing is that we were taught to be afraid of the government by our teachers who are members of the government kakitangan. That made us slaves. Born to be slaves.

Now what are the problems our dear government did for the past 50 years? Senangje. I think every Tom Dick and Harry boleh answer. Maybe I should just list down some of it and maybe, just maybe let us pause for awhile to see whether Pakatan Rakyat should just take over and improve it.

(1) Independence of the judiciary. That was breached, clearly seen in 1988 involving the sacking of Tun Salleh and his brother judges. I remember this clearly as it is part of the syllabus all law student seluruh dunia blajar..

(2) Our Federal Constitution - RAPED. Yes by our BN MPs supposed to defend the constitution but voted in amending more than 45 times and more than 650 minor amendments that makes a mockery of the most sacred piece of document. The last amendment was of course the extending of one year the SPR Chairman age of retirement.

(3) Little Napoleon - Bad enforcement officers whether it's Majilis Bandaraya/Local Councils or religious department. A little power sudah jadi raja. That makes a mockery of our Minister who themselves don't know what happen under their nose.

(4) Rampant Corruption - I am still waiting. What happen to our 18 high profile case that dear Rais Yatim once told us? I think this area, banyak orang pun tau dah, tak payah lah nak cakap seperti Istana Zakaria, open corruption in Malacca State government, money politics in UMNO and even in elections etc

(5) Police brutality and abuse of powers - that one just happened in Malacca against DAP YBs. Tak payah lagi nak cakap.

(6) NEP that is laced with corruption, nepotism and cronyism - semua dia punya orang. Projek pun dia jugak.

(7) Racial politics and even now (sehingga kini) the use of May 13 threat. What da stupidest thing to say. Sometimes I don't understand this idiot leaders who are leaders of yesteryears.

(8) Barang Naik - as usual barang naik. Petrol naik, raw material naik...semua jenis naik tapi gaji masih sama.

(9) Nasi tak cukup - I seriously want to know what is our stock pile NOW? I am afraid it could only last us for a few months.

(10) One sided news especially from RTM and TV3. Semua ampu kerajaan kow kow. Nothing but praises to the federal government.

(11) UMNO Youth - still believing in racial politics and acting like a gangster type menaces. I think they forgotten about Kerismuddin. No wonder Tun Dr. Mahatir did once said "Melayu cepat lupa"

(12) Freedom of religion at stake? What happen to the many Hindu temples that was demolished.

(13) Freedom to assemble though guaranteed by our Constitution- a mockery now. The Police Act and some other laws are there to curb and charged illegal assembly. Funny Malaysia?

(14) Draconian and outdated laws such as the Internal Security Act (ISA), Printing Presses Act, Official Secret Act, Sedition Act, University College Act dan ada lagi....

(15) Hmmmm we are still living in the time of Emergency as the Emergency Ordinance is still enforced - what a crap

(16) Flooding and bad drainage system in almost all parts of Malaysia. Sikit-sikit hujan, sudah banjir sampai ke lutut.

(17) Failed NS project that spend berbillion ringgit resulted to many death in camps nationwide.

(18) Mega projects everywhere and yet poverty is seen almost everywhere.

(19) Highway toll hikes - sudah jadi kebiasaan. In Hokkien they call it Bo Pian....

(20) Crime rate steadily went up and up. Hmmm police prefer to make arrest on Opposition leaders rather than hard core criminals.

(21) Immigration problems especially in Sabah. Worst still they become citizen just like that...

(22) What about Oil Royalty to state producers....federal yang ambik. I wonder is this fair?

and the list goes on and on. Gua punya mata nak lelap, nak pergi tidur. But I think that is good enough evidence to welcome Pakatan Rakyat as the next federal government.

What say you?

The Only Letter Mahatir speaks sense....

I read this letter by Tun Mahatir in the Star, very interesting insights by the old man. Words like this can never be accepted by people in UMNO or BN. What all can agree is that Gerakan 'hilang' satu member yang berwibawa. He was tipped to be a CM in Penang should he and his party win in the general election. But of course that dream never materialised. Unfortunately to Kah Choon when he was appointed as Director to the two state government agencies, he was called 'inexperience' by the leadership in his party. At one point you are tipped to be a VVIP and on the other hand 'inexperience'.

But reading between the lines of the letter, I must say that BN in order to survive in the political arena of this country MUST change it's ways. UMNO and BN are too narrow minded. If PAS is able to adapt changes by inviting non Muslim to contest in the general election, UMNO and especially UMNO must change to be relevant.

So to UMNO and BN, please take heed to the call of the person whom you love before...

------- Mahatir's letter below

THE recent decision of a senior Gerakan leader to take a job under the DAP Government of Penang should not be taken lightly by the Barisan Nasional if it wishes to survive and regain support of its members and supporters.

The Gerakan leader may be motivated by a genuine desire to work for the good of Penang and Malaysia. But it may also be because loyalty to the Barisan is now based on personal gains or fear of punishment of some kind.

This is especially so among the leaders. There is no genuine love for the objectives said to be the raison d’etre for the party’s existence. They are all fighting to get a piece of the cake that the party would be able to distribute when it wins elections. They could become Ministers or Mentris Besar or Deputy Ministers or Speakers. They could get contracts or licences, APs etc.

When the party loses, these will not be forthcoming. The reason for supporting the party would disappear.

The rank and file on the other hand stands to gain nothing, win or lose. The party is not any longer for the general good of the country but only for lining the pockets of the leaders. So why should the ordinary members help the leaders to line their pockets?

The party can keep on making promises but the members know that these promises are empty.

Supposing the Opposition are smart enough to provide good Government, to look after the interests of the ordinary people, to lead a Spartan life like not flying in chartered planes when going to Kuala Lumpur or taking excos and divisional heads on jaunts to foreign countries, then those people who voted for the Opposition out of anger against the Barisan in 2008 would transfer their loyalty permanently to the Opposition.

When that happens, the Barisan, Umno and other component parties can forget about recapturing the states lost to the Opposition. Their turncoat members (saboteurs as they are classified by Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) will remain turncoats and will actively work against the Barisan t the next election. To lose once is bad but to lose a second time in Malaysian election is an unmitigated disaster.

The window of opportunity will close pretty soon. Unless drastic actions are taken now, there would be no time to rehabilitate the Barisan and Umno and indeed all the other Barisan component parties for the next election. When this happens and Barisan is totally defeated, the leaders who mismanaged the Barisan will go down in history as betrayers of the parties that had so successfully defeated the Malayan Union, gained independence for the country and developed it to what it is today.

The leaders still have a choice. Continue supporting a person under whom the Barisan and its component parties were defeated or stop being self-serving and return to the true national struggle. You may gain something for yourself personally today but your children and grandchildren will pay a terrible price. The choice is yours.

DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD.

"Goblog" Ali Rustam

Ali Rustam has become a 'goblog' with his blog title "Dari Kacamata Mohd Ali Rustam". I have read some of his articles though heart wrenching as he spoke from his kacamata, he speaks ONLY from UMNO's perspective and not as a Malaysian as a whole thus missing a grave point. It is in my opinion a delusion of Ali Rustam aka the Senior Vice President of UMNO, according to Malaysia-Today

In his article "Kembalilah Keperjuangan Asal" I am a bit sceptical of the overview of UMNO as it is a Malay base party fighting only for the rights of Malay. Historically UMNO has fought for the many events that went against Malay namely Malayan Union, NEP etc. However as time flies and as globalisation become more real and competitive or I must a say a THREAT, UMNO themselves must change and not just going back to their original establishments. I must applaud the founder of Dato Onn Jaafar for having that vision to open up UMNO for all races but unfortunately or fortunately, depending on who's kacamata, the proposal was not accepted. Whatever the reasons, let bygones be bygones.

However after the 12th general election, UMNO or Barisan Nasional witness a defeat that they can't imagine. For the first time after 1969 they lost their 2/3 in Parliament and by the 9th March 2008 except Kelantan, they lost 4 states and the Federal Territory. Of the 4 states, two of it contributed handsomely to federal.

Whilst reading his 2nd article, allow me to quote from his article the following statements made by him.

"Saya khuatir ketika kita sibuk berbincang soal kemelut dalaman parti, rakyat akan jemu dan kecewa dengan kita dan akhirnya kita kehilangan kuasa. Jika ini berlaku, semuanya tidak akan bermakna lagi!"

This is something very unhealthy. "berbincang soal kemelut dalaman parti" in my opinion must be handled, properly. The problem with UMNO is the denial syndrome and the race base politics and rhetoric by their own leaders. Even the Senior Vice President of UMNO himself made detrimental statements that also affect the credibility of UMNO and BN especially in the PPP Malacca General Assembly.

UMNO must redefine and that redefining is urgent. Internal party discussion is a must to see the direction of UMNO in Malaysia. The future in UMNO is determined by the leaders of UMNO. As it takes a good captain to run the ship

"Jadi saya berharap semua barisan UMNO agar kembali ke perjuangan asal bagi mendapatkan sokongan rakyat dan merapatkan barisan. Itu yang paling penting. Kita perlu sentiasa berwaspada dan jangan membuang masa dengan berbincang perkara yang tidak menguntungkan. Kita tidak mahu menang sorak tapi kampung tergadai kerana pada masa itu, semuanya sudah terlambat."

I beg to differ with his view. I think UMNO should engage constructively in constant discussion with everybody and that includes members from Pakatan Rakyat. UMNO is seen to many as ARROGANT and RACIST. How is the rakyat supporting a party that base only along racial lines and telling everybody that they are correct.

As such there must be active discussion by UMNO if they want to regain public confidence of the non Malay. Shutting MCA, MIC, Gerakan and all the coalition partners from active discussion attracts the wrath of the people. The "four-eyes talk" and work behind the scene, stab the coalition partners until they bleed. How are they to serve the people if they can't even talk and speak. Nothing but the concept of fear and pressure in the administration of the BN government and state government. All is LOST.

That is why Dato Chua Jui Meng in TV3 after the defeat, states that a silent politician is not a politician and as such I totally agree with his view on politicians.

So in order to regain public perspective, UMNO and BN must change it ways.

Kabinet Dapur Malaysia Style

I remember when I was about 14, I read (on my own...chehhhh macam budak besar) the Berita Harian in the school library of the words 'Jemaah Menteri'. I seriously do not know what the hell are those words. And only some time I was informed that those words amount to the Cabinet (Kabinet- in Malay) which comprises of His Majesty's Ministers that was appointed by the Prime Minister (who usually is, I don't know about Malaysia, Primus inter pares) who confidently command the majority in the Dewan Rakyat. The Ministers can be either from both houses of Parliament. Either voted in or through the back door i.e. being appointed as a Senate in the Dewan Negara.

So let me now give my piece on our recent cabinet Ministers.

Prime Minister

Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi - In order to obtain the confidence of the Rakyat, the pledges he pledged in 2004 MUST be fulfilled. Fortunately for him, he is the President of UMNO and the Chairman of BN as such becomes the Prime Minister. But he must not forget that the Rakyat has the power to topple him down and shame the BN as a whole. So many beautiful phrases declared by him such as "I am the PM for all" during his premiership but I must say all of his phrases are phrases to please the Rakyat. Walk the Talk lah....but all these were never materialise. Rakyat hari ini adalah sudah matang. The people voted not on racial or Party lines but the capability of the individual. So what can I say BUT buck up or "You're Fired"

Deputy Prime Minister
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak - Altantuya's case must be a real nightmare for this chap. Though he has tried to explain in the Ijok by-election but unfortunately his explanation goes into deafening ears. A lot of explanation to do but how much he explained, the people will not listen. Once bitten twice shy. As a statesman, we owe a duty (a huge duty) to the Rakyat.

Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department
Tan Sri Bernard Dompok - I have nothing to say about this man

Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz - Him again? Why lah? Tak ada orangkah? This is one arrogant man who never deserve in a place such as the Cabinet. As a fellow legally trained mind, I am aghast to his understanding of the working of the constitution and the law. Put it simply a baruah to the PM and that is why he is now sitting in the cabinet jaga Parliament.

Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi - Hmmm as at today I'm still confuse whether he is aligned to Anwar or UMNO.

Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim - through a back door as a Senate but I welcome his appointment. I believe the PM put him in charge of law is basically to naik PM's water face. If BN had won the 2/3, this chap will be out from mainstream politics within UMNO and BN. So Mr. Zaid, please do your job well. Kalau tidak, you pun akan OUT jugak. Sekarang PM bagi chance...

Datuk Amirsham Abdul Aziz - another back door appointment. CEO and President (Ex) of Maybank will now be in charge of EPU. Well I'll be watching over you...

Deputy Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department
Datuk Johari Baharom - What happen lah. I am wandering whether is this a demotion? Former ISA deputy Minister now becomes Deputy Minister in PM's department... I don't really know this chap

Datuk Dr Mashitah Ibrahim - back door again?

K. Devamany - This is some good news for the Indians but I think it is toooooo late. This guy better speaks out or he will be thrown out next time.

Datuk Hasan Malek - saya tak tau ini orang except that he used to be some Youth Chief somewhere

Finance
Minister - Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi - as stated supra

Second Finance Minister - Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop - Hmmmm I seriously doubt his capability eversince the BNF scandal which cause loss of RM30 billion (helloooo not million) ... and now he is the second man after PM, just a thought.

Deputies - Datuk Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Datuk Kong Cho Ha (I am not commenting on these chaps)

Defence
Minister - Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak - res ipsa loquitor

Deputy - Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop (not commenting)

Internal Security and Home Affairs
Minister - Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar - he better do his job well and not simply using the ISA to catch bloggers

Deputies - Datuk Chor Chee Heung, Senator Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh (no comments)

Housing and Local Government
Minister - Datuk Ong Ka Chuan- Big brader to MCA President. Heir apparent to MCA. Can't compare to the late Tun Tan Cheng Lock and Tun Tan Siew Sin. This fellow is nothing but ..... Just because Perak lost it's government to the Opposition, this chap suddenly goes kuku by saying DAP is now working with PAS. Statement paling bodoh sekali. Those words are nothing by flaming racial sentiment amongst the Chinese. A police report must be lodge against this idiot. Orang sudah matangLAH.

Deputies - Datuk Robert Lau, Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin (no comments)

Works Minister
Minister - Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamad - haha taken over Samy Value place. So please buck up or you will be out.

Deputy - Datuk Yong Khoon Seng - Tolong Bos kalau tidak pun sama

Energy, Water and Communications
Minister - Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor - this idiot wants bloggers to be registered. What stupid statement ever said by a Minister...ooops they are all stupid, I forgot.

Deputy - Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum (no comment)

Agriculture and Agro-based Industry
Minister - Datuk Mustapa Mohamed (no comment)
Deputy - Datin Paduka Rohani Abdul Karim (no comment)

International Trade and Industry
Minister - Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin - there are a lot to say of this chap. But then again, let us see what this guy is capable of. Pengganti Iron Lady Malaysia.
Deputies - Datuk Liew Vui Keong, Datuk Jacob Dungau Sagan (no comments)

Foreign Affairs
Minister - Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim - I like him but unfortunately in recent days he became to be talking nonsense on the Perak thingy nevertheless I must remind him that I have read his book.

Deputy - Datuk Seri Tengku Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar - no comment as he has rejected the offer to be Rais' deputy.

Education
Minister - Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein - the keris fella. Stop being racist and you'll be PM. But as far as I am concern, you don't have the respect of almost all Chinese.

Deputies - Datuk Wee Ka Siong, Datuk Razali Ismail (No comments)

Higher Education
Minister - Datuk Khaled Nordin - I have nothing to say about this chap. But please work hard for all race.

Deputies - Dr Hou Kok Chung, Datuk Idris Harun (No comments except for Datuk Harun, I'll be watching him closely. I ain't happy with his speeches)

Transport
Minister - Datuk Ong Tee Keat - Thumb up. But unfortunately he joined a wrong party.
Deputy - Datuk Anifah Aman - Hmmmm he decline too this position.

Human Resources
Minister - Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam - lucky for him that all his kawan-kawan loss or he will end up becoming Deputy Minister.
