Antiquing and a Finished Doily

every Sunday during Summer there is an antique market/ vintage sale going on not too far from us, in the little town of Aberfoyle. I was directed there by several people and finally we made it there. and oh what joy! such pretty display, friendly people, beautiful items, some rare finds and just a perfect atmosphere for a Sunday. I absolutely fell in love with that vintage jojo-quilt but it was out of my price range. but oh boy is that ever pretty? please don't tell me I should have gotten it...

I did take home some table cloths and aprons like you see on that red stand, and three little crochet items for a bargain: the little coasters with cute yellow flowers and the tiny squares attached into a pillow size square.

at the same time I finished a doily ~ oh yes, I am totally into them now ~ and all four went happily into the washer so I could block them. these are clearly the before-blocking pictures. stay tuned as I will reveal the blocking result soon!

in case you are in the neighbourhood and would like to check out the antique market in Aberfoyle, please have a look at their website for details.

Composing Colors

the idea for a new color combination

can be found all around you

for example today : thrift store finds, in combination with a bunch of strawberries

as soon as I placed the plate with berries on our gray chair

I saw it happening

gray-white-red

a beautiful, fresh color combination!

I grabbed some random items from our kitchen

and there it is, looking perfect to my eyes

I even found the trio in the new blanket I am working on

and it makes for the perfect picture to wish you a very happy weekend

~ love ~

New Old Sewing Machine

basically every project I am working on, I share with you here on my blog

and that tells you I have not been sewing in a loooong time

months have gone by without

but, I have a feeling that is going to change soon...

~

on a lucky thrift adventure with my friend

I found this beauty of a vintage sewing machine

super heavy, all steel

and isn't this just the perfect color and style

could you imagine my excitement when I saw it, haha

I must admit I have had it for a few weeks now

and still found no time to use it

but I will soon !

how great would it be to sew vintage sheets into beautiful cushion covers on this machine...

I know it still works, I tried that before I bought it

but other than that I have no idea what to expect

may be this weekend I will do some research on the web

and find some tips and tricks for this particular one

let the fun begin !

~

wishing you a lovely weekend too

hugs
