Midweek Magnolias - Anything but a Card

Happy Hump Day, Friends! I am so glad to see you all at the Midweek Magnolias Challenge Blog this morning. Our next challenge this fortnight is a personal favorite of mine…

“Anything but a Card”

I love creating paper crafted items that I can give away as gifts. This is a “box in a bag" and I’ve had it on my “to make” list for some time now. There is a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers and it is so easy to craft.

I used one of the new stamps from the “Magnolia Stamp Club.” She is not in the store yet so I don’t know her name. I can’t wait to see the entire collection. They remind me of the 60s “Flower Power” era. I will likely be adding more of these cuties to my collection once they reach the store.

I used some pretty Maja Design paper and a new die set. I created a paper lace trim at the bottom of my bag with my dies and added tiny flat back pearls for a delicate touch.

I colored Tilda with Copics; her dress is colored with one of my favorite BG color combos. I love the turquoise color hues of these markers.

Here’s a close up of Tilda. I am still a bit shaky with coloring since surgery and my wrist gets sore after long lengths of coloring time. So I am taking it slow but I’m making progress every day.

I hope I’ve inspired you to join us for the challenge. Have a great week.

MM Midway Reminder - Decorate a Gift Bag or Box

Happy Hump Day, Friends! Our current challenge “Decorated Gift Bag or Box” at  Midweek Magnolias is still running and I'm back today to share my DT project.

You have until next Tuesday to make a project for the challenge. Follow our rules and theme and you could have a chance to win a prize from Magnolia Sweden.

This is a La-La Land Crafts Trinket Box I made featuring “Tilda in Lace Pants” from the Animals of the Year collection.

My DPs are from Maja Design and distressed with Brushed Corduroy DI. I added some Magnolia Tags dressed up with lace trim, MS Clay butterflies and a Tim Holtz glass vial.

The pearl trim around the edge gives the box a feminine touch. Some pretty flowers, swirl die cuts, and metal lock with key finishes the box nicely.

Tilda was colored with Copics and mounted on a Spellbinders Floral Oval Frame.

I hope my project inspires you to join us for the challenge. Have a fabulous week.

Magnolia-licious Challenge - Animals and/or Accessories

Happy Tuesday, Friends. We have another new challenge for you at Magnolia-licious. This time our theme is…

Animals and/or Accessories Stamps Only

So that means we are looking for cards/projects that do not have a character stamp on them. This challenge is all about those cute animal, accessory or background stamps.

For this challenge I thought it would be fun to create another box card using the new strawberry stamp from the Summer Fruits Kit of Pink Lemonade collection. My designer papers are from Doodlebug Design and cardstock is Bazzill. I used the Strawberry Basket box card from SVGcuts and I replaced the cut strawberries for the Magnolia stamp. It’s the perfect size for the SVG files.

I added extra die cuts for interest, some rosebuds and a butterfly punch.

I finished off the box with some lace, a vintage seam binding bow, and Magnolia “Hello Sunshine” sentiment.

Here's another shot of all the pretties in this basket. It does fold flat to fit in an envelope. This card is for someone special as a "Thank you" for a gift I recently received.

Leave us a comment on any of the DT’s blogs and/or the Challenge blog for a chance to win a weekly prize. The winner is announced every week during the “W”ednesday post.

Come and join us for the challenge and you may have a chance to win a Surprise from the Magnolia-licious store.

Happy Wednesday, Friends! This is my first of two posts today…WOW! I have been really busy making cards and crafts this weekend.

This fun creation is for the Midweek Magnolias Midway Reminder. Our “Autumn Colors” challenge will continue until next Tuesday. I hope you get time to break out those pretty fall papers and colors and join in for a chance to win a Mystery Prize from Magnolia Sweden.

My project features “Tilda with Carrots” from the 2012 Turning Leaves collection. Birthday Baby Girl - Magnolia-licious & Wee Stamps

Hello, Friends. Happy Wednesday!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and you're looking forward to the next one.

My husband, DSIL (Shane), and I loaded 188 bales of Hay for our horses yesterday. My lovely daughter, Abi drove the truck and trailer on Monday, I drove on Tuesday. I am so tired and glad we have about 22 months of Hay for our horses, Dallas & Duncan. Dallas is an AQHA Red Roan and loves his new hay that we bought from our neighbor's farm. As a test to see if they would eat the Brome Hay, our neighbor gave us a bale to see if they'd like it. They are normally Timothy/Alfalfa Hay fed horses. We set the bale at the end of the horse's paddock and Dallas came in from the pastor for a drink and found the new hay. He started eating and preferred it over fresh pastor grass. Now, that is some good hay… Duncan followed suit of course as Dallas is never out of his sight. Such entertaining animals they are.

It's time for another Wee Wednesday. There are so many adorable stamps in the Magnolia-licious & Wee Stamps store. I also have an announcement of my candy winner so, please read to the end.

My project this week features a cute and adorable stamp called "Birthday Baby Girl" by Sylvia Zet, designer of Wee Stamps. I created a birthday gift bag for this project. I think she is so adorable and very easy to color. This is perfect for that 1st year birthday card stamp or gift bag as I have done for that sweet little girl. I used some pretty stickled butterfly die cuts by Marianne Designs and Memory Box, papers from DCWV and ribbon roses from my stash. Not to mention, my favorite embellishments this week, Magnolia Doo Bee Pops. I made balloons for this cute bag in different colors with baker's twine from Doodle Bug Designs and an American Crafts ribbon tied in a bow, to hold them. I finished it with a sentiment I created on my PC with a Spellbinders fancy label die cut.

Here's a close-up of Birthday Baby Girl.

I kept the embellishments simple with ribbon roses, string pearls, flowers and a Swarovski crystal with pearl top.

Midweek Magnolias - Anything but a Card

Hello Friends! I'm back with another project for Midweek Magnolias. Our challenge this week is "Anything but a Card." I love challenges like this because I am a paper engineer at heart. Plus this gives me a chance to use some of those awesome cutting files for my Silhouette Cameo. I found this sweet little baby buggy that is the perfect size for my adorable Edwin.
This project was really simple. I cut and assembled my baby buggy then added the butterflies and pearl buttons.
The butterflies are from Whimsy Stamps called Butterfly Border. The individual butterfly stamp accompanies the border digi. I got the idea from a lovely fellow crafter, Kasey. She made a card with these butterflies and I fell in love with them. Check out her card here. She feathered two colors to blend them for her butterflies and they are awesome. Purple and Yellow are complimentary colors and don't blend so I didn't use that technique.
Up close and personal of my adorable Edwin.
These are the Copics I used to color Edwin.

Supplies:
Cardstock – Bazzill
DPs - Nana's Nursery Boy
Cutting Files – Silhouette Cameo, Rivka Wilkins
Pearls – Viva Decor
Brads - Michaels
Other - Cheesecloth from JoAnn's

I’m entering this project in the following Challenges:

Make It Monday – Anything Goes
Color Me Creative - Babies
MDUC - Bingo (Edwin, Cheesecloth, Pearls)

I hope my baby buggy inspires you to join us this week at Midweek Magnolias.

I Brake for Gift Bags

Hello, Friends. It is another I Brake for Stamps Tuesday DT project. This one features a sweet stamp called “Noah’s Ark.” This is the perfect stamp for a children’s card or a gift bag as I’ve made here.
I used a plain white gift bag and added embossed polka dot cardstock from DCWV Nana’s Kids.
I colored my image with Copics and matted it on a piece of yellow cardstock from my stash. Added several SEI buttons with Doodlebug bakers twine, a satin ribbon bow from my stash and it was done. So simple and easy.

You can get this stamp and so many others at I Brake for Stamps. Use my coupon code SAVE10CATHY for 10% off your purchase.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

I Brake for Easter Baskets

Hi, everyone. Tuesdays will be never be the same for my blog. That’s because I have joined I Brake for Stamps Design Team as of last week. So I will be posting a weekly project with awesome products from the store here as well as projects for our monthly challenge blog here. So with that, my first project is for our Challenge that officially begins tomorrow. Our theme this month is Easter.
I created a cute little mini Easter basket. These make great favors for friends or your children’s friends. My basket is a simple angled box frame. You can download my template here. I used strips of cardstock to make a weave pattern design for the box exterior. For the handle I used an EK Success punch and added some pink grosgrain ribbon. I would suggest using brads to attach your handle for a strong hold if you plan are filling it with Easter goodies. I adhered mine with ScorTape.
I used a Magnolia die cut for the tag and stamped my sweet “Bunny Tail End” image and colored him with Copics. Isn't he adorable? I distressed the edges around my tag with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. Finally, I took the scraps of cardstock I used for my weave paper and ran it through my Fiskars Crimper then shredded it with my Martha Stewart Fringe scissors to make the basket grass.
These are the Copics I used to color my image.

I’m entering this project in Make It Monday – Anything Goes Linky Party.

OK…now I know you’ve been waiting for the most exciting part of this post and that is Candy time. What’s your favorite childhood Easter Holiday memory? Leave me a comment and I will put your name in a hat and let my hubby draw a winner next week. I’ll announce the winner before my next post on Tuesday. You will have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the I Brake for Stamps store.

And don’t forget…you can save 10% at I Brake for Stamps just by using my coupon code SAVE10CATHY.

Thanks for letting me share my project with you today and have a wonderful week.

Craft Your Passion Challenge 100

Hello, Friends and Happy Monday. This weekend was pretty quiet around here. I did get a taste of Spring weather with the temps rising toward the 60s today. But I’m not holding my breath because March is our snowiest month. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I spent a lot of time in my craft room this weekend working on some projects and getting ready for some Happy Easter fun. Stop over tomorrow as I am going to post CANDY on my blog.

Our new challenge is up at Craft Your Passion and this week our theme is “Anything Goes” in celebration of our 100th Challenge. That is the easiest challenge ever so come join us with a project for a chance to win some great prizes. We have 8 sponsors this week which is so awesome. So head over to CYP and checkout the lovely Design Team creations and we also have some special guests joining us for the celebration.

For my project I created a corner bookmark for my granddaughter. My image is Hootie Pie Clown from Pink Cat Studio which is one of our sponsors this week. He’s so whimsically cute and I know Isabel will love it. I’m also sending her a Smash book that I made for her; it’s very girly.
All of the elements I used for this card where from my  scrap stash. I did not open one package of new product for this one.
These are the Copics I used to color Hootie.

I’m entering this project in Make It Monday – Anything Goes Linky Party.

Thanks for stopping by. Come back tomorrow as I have a new project to share with you and a chance to win some Candy.

My Bugaboo Valentine

Hi, Friends…Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It has been cold here in Colorado. Our duck pond has been frozen for weeks. The actual pond size is almost 1/5 acre and it is frozen now to about 6 feet in diameter around the aerator. Hubby has been out of town for a couple days and he usually breaks up the edge twice a day so the ducks and geese have more room to swim.

A few days ago a herd of deer roamed and settled in our backyard right next to the house. I could see them from my craft room window so I had to get some pics to show you. If you subscribe to my blog via email you won't see the slideshow. You'll have to click the Title link above.

The photos aren’t all that good as they were shot out the window at twilight so I adjusted them as much as I could to share them. We just love the country and the wildlife here is so awesome to watch.

“In the Bag or Box”
Craft Your Passion has a new challenge up for you. This week our theme is “In the Bag/Box.” So all you have to do is create a project that has a bag or box and you’re in. To get you started I’ve created my own heart shaped template after crafting my Valentine box and I’m happy to share it with you.

Here is a link to the pdf files. Heart Shapes and Box sides. You may need to trim a small amount of the box sides depending on how close to the lines you cut the heart shapes. If you'd like to see a tutorial, leave me a comment and I'll try to work on that is week.
Using my heart shape box template I created a Valentine candy gift box. And because it's heavy cardstock it can be loaded with sweet goodies. I prefer Hershey’s Hugs & Kisses; they are some of my favorite chocolates. Yummy!
I used my new Bugaboo Angels – Love You image from our wonderful sponsor Bugaboo Digi Stamps. I colored her with Copics and added a coat of stickles to her wings and glossy accents to her heart. I adhered her to my Magnolia Doo Hickey Scalloped Tag die and sponged Victorian Velvet Distress Ink around the edges.
I printed the accompanying Bugaboo sentiment on the opposite side of the tag and distressed it as well.
For the box, I used my template as a pattern for 140 lb. cardstock and cut out all the pieces and assembled them. You can also use the pdf files to print on heavyweight cardstock or designer paper if your printer allows. I used Scor Tape around the edge of the top and bottom shapes to adhere the box sides for a strong hold. I punched several lengths of heart border with my Martha Stewart border punch and adhered them around the edges of the top and bottom. Then I covered my box with designer papers from Heidi Grace and pink satin ribbon with lace trim on the top side of the box. I also added DPs to the inside top and bottom layers for a finished look. I added pearl ribbon with glossy accents, some WOC flowers and a pink satin bow. I finished it off by attaching the tag. Now it’s ready for those chocolate goodies.
These are the Copics I used to color my image.

I’m entering my project in the following Challenges:

Papertake Weekly – Die Cuts
Make it Monday – Anything Goes
Anything Goes Challenge – Anything Goes
Crafty Catz – Use Something New
Paper Creations Ink - Love/Romance
Catch the Bug Challenge - Use 2 of Something (used 2 digi stamps)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week…
