Smudgy Antics–Anything Goes

Hello!  I don’t have a ton of time to play with challenges, so I love it when there’s an anything goes challenge!  That’s the theme right now at Smudgy Antics, so I decided to link up the ATCs I made for the November ATC swap on the Smeared and Smudged forum.

I used one of my favorite grumpies from Smeared Ink to make these.  All of the grumpies are mounted on wobbles.

Smeared and Smudged August Member Hop

Hello!  Today is the monthly member blog hop for Smeared and Smudged.  The theme this month was Anything Goes.

I decided to alter a box I’ve had for a few years.  Here’s what the drawers looked like before I started painting…

DSCN0993v2

I applied gesso, painted it, put on some crackle medium, then painted it again.  I added a couple of embellishments to the sides.

My image is from Smeared Ink…it’s actually from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.  After I colored and cut out the image I lit a candle and attempted to scorch the feathers a bit.

I’d also like to enter this into the current Smudgy Antics challenge, which is Burnt Offerings.(I burnt the edges of my image)

Smudgefest Day 7! Final Day!

Woo hoo!  I made it through the whole week of challenges!

Day 7 of Smudgefest is “SYNONYMOUS SUNDAY”

The challenge is to use the provided image to create a project.

I decided to go with an art journal page today.

The Ghoulipop and owl are Smeared Ink images.  The turtle is just a doodle of my own.

Thanks for looking!  And thank you for all of the awesome comments from everyone this week!  I’m a few days behind, but I’m going to attempt to comment on everything.

Smudgefest Day 6!

Today is Day 6 of Smudgefest!  Whoa!  I can’t believe I made it in time today.  I’ve been away at a stamping convention last night and all day today, so I had to try to throw a project together tonight.  Today’s challenge is “Sketchy Saturday”…a sketch challenge(as the name would imply).

I used a digi stamp from Smeared Ink on my card.(I really like this circus set)

DSCN0945v2

It’s a little off, but I think you can tell I was trying to follow the sketch.(at least I hope so)

I had a lot of fun this weekend.  I got to meet a couple of friends from one of the online crafting groups I’m in, which was really cool.  And I got to meet Dyan Reaveley.  She was extremely nice and a lot of fun to watch.

Here’s a picture of us.

Smudgefest Day 5!

Hurray!  I got a project made early in the day!  For Smudgefest Day 5 the challenge is…

“FLOWING FRIDAY

Create a project using a flowing medium. Some examples could be watercolor, liquid ink, liquid glues, thinned out acrylics, etc.... use your imagination and let the juices flow!”

Now, that’s my kind of challenge!

I used a 4”x5” canvas for my project.  I used soft body, and liquid acrylics to paint the base, then I used watered down acrylics for the dripping.  I used a rubber stamp from Smeared Ink.(It’s no longer available in rubber, but you can still purchase the digi set)  I also added a small chipboard frame and some Tim Holtz stickers.

Thanks for looking!  If I get a project up tomorrow it will be late in the day…I’ll be at Stampaway tomorrow!

Smudgefest Day 4!

I’m back!  Running a bit behind, but I’m here.  For Day 4 of Smudgefest here’s the challenge…

“TWISTED THURSDAY

Make an ATC with a "twist". You can interpret "twist" any way you want to, this is just one interpretation. ATC size: 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" “

I used several rubber stamps from Smeared Ink – See the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.  And the broken heart stamp is one that I carved myself.

The “twist” is that there is no end to this ATC.  It’s a never ending ATC.  And barbwire is twisted, too.Winking smile

Smudgefest Day 3!

Hello!  I was a little worried I wouldn’t get a project done today.  I have come down with a whopper of a head cold.  Yay!(not so much) Anyway, Day 3 of Smudgefest is a color challenge.

I used a digi from Smeared Ink on my card.  I did something different.  I digitally colored the image, then printed it out and added a little shadow with markers.  I kept the card simple.

Smudgefest Day 2!

Hello!  Day 2 of Smudgefest has the following challenge:

“TERRIFYING TUESDAY

Create a project that showcases your favorite scary Smeared Ink image. Go ahead, pull out all the stops and give us the willies!”

I used three images from the Circus Procession digi set from Smeared Ink, and a rubber stamp from the Morte set that Rick St. Dennis did for the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

It’s a 5.5” square card.

I’d also like to enter this into the current regular challenge at Smudgy Antics, which is to use fussy cutting.  I fussy cut the clown and the banner.

Thanks for looking!  Hopefully I’ll see you again tomorrow!

Smudgefest Day 1!

Today is the first day of Smudgefest!  It’s a really awesome weeklong series of challenges on the Smudgy Antics blog.  Today’s challenge is “Manic Monday – Create a bi-polar project that showcases two opposites.”

Here’s what I came up with, using one of my older rubber sets from Smeared Ink.

DSCN0881v2

DSCN0879v2

I chose to go with fire and water, and blue and orange as my opposites.

And then my daughter decided that she had to play too, so here is her project, using images from Smeared Ink.

She chose day and night as her opposites.

Thanks for looking!  Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow with some more creations for you!

March Smeared and Smudged Member Hop!

I haven’t done one of these in a while, so I’m very happy to be joining in the monthly member hop from Smeared and Smudged today.  The theme we were given was “END OF THE RAINBOW...SHOW US WHAT'S AT THE END OF YOUR RAINBOW”.

If you arrived here from the ever lovely Kapree, then you’re on the right track.  If not, the full hop list will be posted below so that you can find your way.

So, I was actually honest with this one.  I thought about what I would like to find at the end of a rainbow and although I did consider a portal to Wonderland, this is what I would be happier with.Winking smile

DSCN0270

Ever since I was a little kid I have wanted to run away with the circus.  I’ve always seen myself as a bit of a sideshow freak.  And then I read The Night Circus last month.  So I would want to be a part of “Le Cirque des Reves” in particular.

I’d also like to enter this into the current challenge at Smudgy Antics, which is Anything But A Card.(My project is a canvas panel)

I Crumbled It

Hello!  I actually played along with a challenge!  I made something for the current challenge at Smudgy Antics, which is Crumble It.  I crumbled my piece of Core’dinations Black Magic cardstock, and then I sanded the black off of the raised bits.  It was fun!  Then, I used that paper to make a new cover for a small journal.

The image I used is one of my very favorite stamps.  It’s Inner Workings – Compartment Heart from Smeared Ink.  And I added some silk yarn for a little extra pizzazz.

SmudgeFest Day 7

Hurray!  I made it through the whole week of SmudgeFest!!  Today’s challenge is Sketchy Sunday.  They’ve given us a sketch to work with for today’s project.

Here’s the card I made, featuring one of the Chicks Dig Guns stamps from Smeared Ink.  Papers from DCWV, Core’dinations, and 7Gypsies.  Tissue tape from Tim Holtz, as well as the mini gear.

Thanks for looking, and for sticking with me through this week!  Thanks for all of the nice comments!  It has been a fun week for creating!

Sometimes I listen to music while creating.  Today’s soundtrack included Jefferson Airplane, Neil Diamond, John Lennon, and Electric Light Orchestra.Winking smile  Now I’m listening to Nightwish.  And there’s your useless information for today, haha.
