Catching Up Again and Reminders

Hello!  For some reason I have been having trouble remembering to post things to my own blog lately.  I’ll remember to post on a forum, or on a challenge blog, but not on my own blog.  I think my brain is just too overloaded right now.

Anyway, one of the things I have forgotten to post is my project for our new challenge over at Chromatic Craze.

Here are the colors we’re using this month.

January 2014 Color Challenge

And here is my journal page, using one of the Dyan Reaveley/Dylusions stamps.

DSCN1575v2

Our challenges run for a whole month there, so I hope you’ll consider joining us.

The other thing I forgot to post here is that I had a turn again over in the Art Journal Every Day group at Smeared and Smudged.  The technique I posted was Fun with Gouache.  Here’s my finished page from that one.

DSCN1555v2

And I also posted a prompt that week that was Emboss It.  Here’s my page from that one.

DSCN1557v2

Both of these pages used stamps from the Heart Wings set from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

Speaking of the Art Journal Every Day group, tomorrow begins our week long Kickstart Your Art Challenge.  We’ll be posting prompts and techniques all week for everyone to play along with.  I hope you’ll join us.

Thanks for looking!  And hopefully I’ll start remembering to update my own blog more often.

Here are the colors we are working with this month…

It’s a bit simplistic, but I was stumped by my own color combo, lol.

Smudgefest Day 3!

Hello!  I was a little worried I wouldn’t get a project done today.  I have come down with a whopper of a head cold.  Yay!(not so much) Anyway, Day 3 of Smudgefest is a color challenge.

I used a digi from Smeared Ink on my card.  I did something different.  I digitally colored the image, then printed it out and added a little shadow with markers.  I kept the card simple.

SBS Fan Page Challenge

Hello again!  I know, two posts in one day, it’s a miracle!  So on Facebook there’s a Simply B Stamps Fan Group.  And from time to time Betty gives us some incredible freebies to work with…and oftentimes there’s a challenge to go along with the image.  Our challenge right now is to use the image we were given to make a project using only black, cream, and one other color.(skin and hair don’t count)  You can find out more about the challenge on the SBS Blog.  And if you like this image, you can find a couple of equally awesome images from the same line at Simply B Stamps.

Here’s the card I made…

DSCN0275

I really should have thought this through, though.  I had a really hard time finding things that were the exact same rusty red orange color that her gown is, haha.  But I did eventually find something.Winking smile

And here you can see that Medusa and the paper under her are “popped up”.

SmudgeFest Day 4

Yes!  I’m so happy that I’ve been able to play along every day so far!  Today’s challenge is Thursday Throwdown.  It’s a color challenge.  Here are the colors you have to use, well at least use 3 of them…

I used these colors to decorate a cheery little coffin.  And I promise that the blue looks lighter/brighter in person.*grumble* stupid camera *grumble*

100_6999

The sharpies weren’t the best idea for coloring on top of gesso.  Ah well.

100_7001

I used my sharpies to color some plain white ribbon for the sides.

I used the Rose Coffin stamp from the Candy is Dandy set from Smeared Ink.  It’s one of my favorite stamps.

Thanks for looking!  I’m excited to see what challenge tomorrow holds!

The always amazing Alison chose a color challenge for this hop.  Here are the colors we were supposed to work with.

And here is the card I made, using Butterfly Queen from Bombshell Stamps.

In person the colors look closer to what they were supposed to.  Ah well.

I colored and cut out my butterflies, and then I gave them a coating of clear crackle paint.

Your next stop on the hop is Etsy Ketsy.  I’m sure she’ll have something gorgeous for you to look at.
