Winter Wishes Card - Tim Holtz Cardinal Die Set

Hello friends and happy DieCember! I'm so excited to be part of the Simon Says Stamp DieCember using the exclusive Tim Holtz Cardinal Die Thinlits set. The Die is only available on Simon Say Stamp! I decided to create the Cardinal out of nontraditional colors to show the versatility of die cutting.

Don't you just love all the different textures from the stamped background to the sparkly snowflake, the beautiful winter greens and the handsome bird.

I started with the background piece. Cut a piece of Distress White HeavyStock to 3 3/4" x 5 1/2". Spray piece with water, then spray with Distress Oxide Spray in Antique Linen, Iced Spruce and Speckled Egg and dry with heat tool. I have used all Oxide Inks for a softer look but you could also use dye inks if you like things brighter.

I added some over stamping in the same/similar colors I sprayed the background in to add a little bit of texture. The new "The Poinsettia" Stamp set CMS426 from Stampers Anonymous will be perfect. I love this set as it has lots of stamps that are great for adding to backgrounds. The music notes, script, swirls and the little specks are perfect for snow.

Did you know that the Distress line now has Heavystock in new different colors? The white is ideal for clean backgrounds and brighter colors and who doesn't love Kraft!

Cut a piece of Distress Kraft HeavyStock 9" x 6 1/4", score and fold in half for the card base. Add a little Picket Fence Distress Paint to your Glass Media Mat and spread out a thin layer with your finger. Pouce the stamp into the paint and then stamp on the Kraft card base.

Cut a mat from the Classic Kraft Stock 8" x 8" pad. Rough up the edges using a Paper Distresser. Ink the edges with Distress Oxide Ink on an Ink Blending Tool.

Adhere the background piece and mat together and add a few lines of stitching around the outside edge of the card.

Stamp can also add some snow to the background using Picket Fence Distress Paint.

Stamp Best Wishes... message from the Christmastime Stamp Set CMS427 with Black Soot Archival Ink. Now tie ribbon around the card with a big bow.

Die cut the Cardinal from Distress White Heavystock using the new Cardinal Thinlits set from Sizzix exclusive to Simon Says Stamp.

Spray the Cardinal pieces with water and then with Distress Oxide Spray, dry with heat tool. Ink the edges with Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool.

Die cut the Stunning Snowflake from the Silver Sparkle Alcohol Ink Cardstock. It's a good idea to add a sticker product to the back of the snowflake before die cutting, like Sizzix Adhesive Sheets. This allows you to adhere intricate die cuts with ease.

Color a piece of White Heavy Stock for the greens using Distress Oxide Ink in Crushed Olive, Speckled Egg and Iced Spruce. Dry well with a heat tool before die cutting.

Die cut some greens from the dyed piece using the Festive Greens Thinlits set. Ink the edges with Distress Oxide Ink on an Ink Blending Tool.

Assemble your card. Adhere the snowflake, add the greens and bells with adhesive. Use foam tape to adhere the bird near the greens. I also added a little gold splatter using Statue Alloy Alcohol Ink and a Splatter brush.

Haunted Assemblage Clock

Hello friends! Todays project is all about the new Halloween Idea-ology release. I love creating home decor pieces for Halloween and this years release is really inspiring! I hope you have time to play!

The base of the project starts with an Assemblage Clock. Remove the bells + handles in one piece and remove the feet.  Paint the sides and pieces of the Assemblage Clock with Gesso to help with adhesion, then add Crackle Paste randomly rubbed over the surface and let air dry. Don't for get the face of the clock, the feet, bells and handle. Once the paste is dry it will show all the cracking, paint with Iced Spruce Distress Paint and let dry. Add Mushroom Alcohol Ink to a felt Applicator tool and ponce randomly over the surface of the clock. Draw Walnut Stain Distress Crayon in small sections over the clock and with a damp finger rub out the crayon to enhance the crackling.

Trace the Assemblage Clock backing on your choice of paper from the Abandon Halloween Paper Stash Pad. Cut out with scissors smaller then the traced line and test to ensure it fits. This will be the foundation for the clock. The background of the clock has a little village that was die cut from the Sizzix Ghost Town Thinlits set. Ink Mica with Alchemy Alcohol Ink on an Applicator Tool and add to the windows for a little glow. Build the Haunted Halloween Ghost Town , trees and a moon using foam tape to add them to the background piece. You can add little fairy lights behind the houses as desired.
Halloween Adornments are painted with Black Soot Distress Paint and Distress Crayon was added to enhance the letters and numbers and added to a Swivel Clasp to hang off the side of the clock.

Line the inside of the clock with Mummy Cloth that has been died with Antique Linen Distress Ink Spray and dry flat with a heat tool. Stamp spider web image with Black Soot Archival ink then adhere to the sides with Collage Medium and let dry.

Cut Metal Gate in half, cut to fit around the bottom and adhere with hot glue. Fussy cut a section from the group of Trick-or-Treaters, color with Distress Markers, blend out with a cotton swab, dry with a heat tool and spray with a fixative. Add a few Mask from the Sizzix Mascaraed thinlits die set and maybe a crown and wand for the princesses.
Adhere the Trick-or-Treaters in front of the gate and add moss and pumpkins and desired.

And the wise old owl looking over the children was painted with Black Soot Distress Paint, partially dried and then rub off raised areas.  Color eye with Alchemy Pearl Alcohol Ink and paint with a tiny brush then go back and add the small dot in the center with Black Soot Distress paint. Add a little Mushroom Alcohol Ink to a cotton swab and rub on the raised areas of the owl.  Adhere Owl to the handle with Collage Medium resting the wings on the clock bells. Add a little Pumpkin with moss and a steam under the owl. Tie Mummy Cloth around the chain of the fastener.

Adhere Hardware Heads to the face of the clock and don't forget to add a bat or two. Have fun creating your version for halloween!

Skeleton Leaves Discover Card

Hello friends! I'm back with a fall card using a few dies from the Sizzix Alterations line by Tim Holtz. The Sizzix Thinlits Skeleton Leaves Die Set is so delicate and it looks great with the 3-D Lumber Texture Fade for the background.

I love all the different textures on this card and how quickly it all came together.

Cut a piece of Kraft cardstock 4" x 5 1/4" and position the Stacked Deckle die in the center and die cut through the Vagabond. Use a low tack tape to tape the die in position.

Spritz cardstock with water and emboss with the 3-D Lumber Texture Fade. Don't forget to only use one cutting pad as this folder is extra think.

Ink the center lumber piece with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink using a direct to paper technique.

Cut dark brown Kraftstock a little larger then both of the Lumber pieces. Ink the edges of  the layers with Vintage Photo Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool.

Color leaves with Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool.

Die cut the word DISCOVER from the Adventure Words Thinlits set using a strip of Heavystock and a piece of rust Kraftstock. Lightly ink the edges with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool. Cut a flag shape on the left end and stitch on the edges as desired. Adhere vintage dictionary print behind the word.

Adhere pieces together. Use foam tape to adhere the smaller lumber piece and the Discover strip. Tie a bow with twine and adhere with Collage Medium over leaves. Adhere Nail Heads.

How do you like the rustic look of the Lumber with the delicate leaves?

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Sense of Wonder Fall Card - Stampers Anonymous fall release

Hello friends! The weather here has been so warm lately and I'm so looking forward to fall and cooler days. I love fall, it's my favorite time of year! My card today features the new Stampers Anonymous Nature's Wonder stamp set by Tim Holtz and the new Ranger Lift Ink.

Love the textures on this card created by the stamping in the background, the ribbon, flowers and leaves.

Cut Watercolor cardstock for the background of your card, positions stamps over background and pick up stamps with a block.

Drip Alcohol Inks on a piece of Yupo paper.

Add Blending Solution to to felt pad and punch over the surface to blend inks.

Ink stamp with Lift Ink and stamp leaves on to Yupo background then stamp the lifted ink on to Watercolor Cardstock. Blot off the image on the Yupo then buff off the extra ink with a soft cloth.

Apply Distress Markers directly to Media Mat, pick up ink with waterbrush and color leaves. The Lift Ink is waterproof and will not run. Dry with a heat tool.

Apply Distress Micro Glaze to the leaves. The Distress Micro Glaze will act as a resist so the leaves will not take the ink. Stamp background with Craze stamp using Old Paper Distress Ink, add Distress Ink to the background using a blending tool and spray background with Distress Mica Spray in Tarnished Brass. I also flicked the Mica Spray over the background to create some spots. Blot of leaves as necessary.

Spray ribbon and flowers with Distress Spray Stain and Distress Mica Spray, add a little water to help the ink spread, dry with a heat tool scrunching ribbon as it dries.

Cut out leaves from Yupo paper with scissors.

Carefully heat the Yupo leaves with a heat tool, using tweezers shape the leaves as they become pliable to create dimension.

Create mat a little larger then background with rust cardstock, add stitching as desired. Assemble card adding Textured Surfaces and vintage dictionary print on base card.

Tie ribbon around card with a bow, add flowers and leaves adhering them with Distress Collage Medium and foam tape.

Stamp message with Archival Ink cut close to words and add to Ornate Plate. Adhere Ornate Plate to card with foam tape over the Wood Plank.

Love the colors of the leaves that signify the changing of the season.
