He was the Secretary General, Ministry of Agricultural (1984 to 1987), Deputy Secretary General, Prime Minister's Department (1981 to 1984), Secretary General, Ministry of Health (1977 to 1981), Secretary General, Ministry of Local Government and Federal Territory (1976 to 1977), State Secretary, Selangor (1972-1976), Director General of National Archives and Library (1966 to 1971). He concurrently served as Private Secretary to His Royal Highness the Timbalan Yang di Pertuan Agong in 1961, 1962 and in 1965. He joined Genting Malaysia Bhd as an Executive Vice- President - Public Affairs and Human Resources in 1990. He was re-designated as Independent Non-Executive Director on 1 July 2011. He is presently the Chairman / Independent Non-Executive Director of UOA Development Bhd.
