Street Style at the Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Weeks - Trench coats

Ah, the Trench Coat. My wardrobe is literally bursting full of coats - Seriously! I have to ask hubby to fix the two wardrobe door hinges that have come undone from the strain the overload is causing); and of the 'coat family', the 'Trench' is my absolute favourite, and most abundant in my coat collection. Funnily, I seem to own a trench in various colours and fabrics, but none in the classic 'trench' colour and classic 'trench' fabric. This is probably due to my love for 'classics with a twist', but must be remedied, no doubt. During the SS'11 Fashion Weeks, it was the outerwear of choice for many:

Classic trench, love the contrasting colour from her shirt/dress rolled out onto the sleeves.

That glorious red looks gorgeous peaking from behind the muted coloured trench.

Not quite a trench per se, but I love the colour combinations here.

Ah, Burberry Prorsum (and Christopher Bailey) - how I love thee!

Classic Burberry Trenchcoat with Louboutin heels & Balenciaga bag

A twist on the classic trench (I am a huge fan of classics with a twist!)

Lover (Australian label, woo hoo!) Trench cape

trench + grey marle = two loves in one

Not quite the trench coat, but I loved the idea of the trench 'skirt' - and paired with my other favourite wardrobe staple - the nautical/French striped shirt

Most of the time I scrunch my trenchcoat sleeves right up too

Isn't this a fabulous outfit?!?

I just found this photo on streetfsn, and just had to add this here, too cute for words! I recently purchased Lil J's first Burberry trench coat and cannot wait for her to use it...

Alena Akhmadullina Spring/Summer '09

Last year I posted on the 10 reasons why I love this Alena Akhmadullina trench coat. Well, the love is still going strong...

Alena Akhamadullina dusky pink trench coat with polka dot lining (the colour is washed out in this pic due to the
sun/lighting that day, for truer colour & close-ups check out this post)
Ilana Moses purple silk dress (not shown)
Leona Edmiston Pins leggings in onyx
Chanel ballerina pumps (with the metallic laces removed)

I love Russian designer Alena Akhmadullina's feminine yet strong designs, mixing 'Russian audacity with Parisian sense of style'. She presented her latest Spring/Summer collection in Paris late last year, and there were plenty of floaty floral designs, juxtaposed with amazing crochet harnesses, that I'm sure Susie of Style Bubble or Queen Michelle at Kingdom of Style could pull off effortlessly (I wouldn't mind giving it a try either), flowy silk pants, and gorgeous drapeing...Beautiful yet easy-to-use pieces that I wouldn't mind having in my wardrobe:

Strawberry Shortcake in Dolce & Gabbana Leather Trenchcoat

Dolce & Gabbana floral leather trench coat (for close-up of the details please see my previous post)
Ilana Moses silk purple dress
Stella McCartney red pump stilettos (not shown)

For some reason, today this D&G floral leather trench coat reminded me of one my of childhood favourite cartoon characters, Strawberry Shortcake. Funny, I had never made the connection before...

PS. For those who requested pics of the actual Chloe cone heel shoes I have for sale, I have added them to my Shop at Brigadeiro's site. Thanks!

Dolce & Gabbana floral leather trenchcoat

I'm so happy to have my mom here visiting, as I get to celebrate Mother's day with her this year.

I will be wearing my D&G Dolce & Gabbana leather floral trench coat, perfect for the occasion, no?

Happy Mother's Day to any mothers (or mother-to-be) readers out there!

D&G Dolce & Gabbana leather floral trench coat (got this five years ago and love the soft leather, the engraved 'bone' buttons & buckles, the red satin lining and most of all, the floral print).

Pop Goes The Easel!

Once upon a time, my wardrobe was filled with only black, grey & navy items. My mom would ask me: "Can't you buy something with colour or a pattern?", I grimaced at the thought of wearing patterned clothing , and couldn't fathom wearing anything brightly coloured...Fast forward a few years, and I cannot believe how I've changed, or rather, my wardrobe has...it is now bursting with a rainbow-ful of colours AND patterns. I slowly started adding colours here and there, and as my confidence with colour grew, so did the brightness/colourfulness (is that even a word?) of the clothes. I'll save the 'patterns' for another day, but here are recent items I wore which are saturated with colour:

Dress/Coat: Willow EGJ12 zip-up jacket/dress
Shoes: Marni patent cream/raisin/tobacco wedges

Dress: Willow EDG64 silk dress (love its drapey nature)
Leather cuff & Palas mother-of-pearl bracelet

Coat: Burberry Claybrooke Collarless Swing Trenchcoat (such a bad pic, I must take a better picture of this, it's so gorgeous! My sister picked it out for me)
Shoes: Burberry Ashley Patent Pumps (one of the b'day pressies I received a few months ago from my gorgeous sisters)

Such a cute birthday card! Love the cylindrical 100mm heel & the large buckle of the shoes.

What about you: have you noticed unexpected changes to your wardrobe over the years?

PS. Both Willow dresses above are from the same collection as the Willow dress from my previous post (and I have a fourth dress from the same collection too), colours aren't as vibrant as in real life (my colours are true), but they look better on the model :
