An orchid note

Hi again, today's card was made for 4 challenges!  They are Our Creative Corner "cut it out" , The MoxieFabWorld's Stamping with Shimmer Sprays for the Stamp It! Techniques Week, The Cupcake Inspirations #98 pic above and I have based the card on the Waltzing Mouse SC #34, also shown above.  It is quite rare for me to be able to combine challenges, at least usually not more than two!
~For the card base, I took two green velum panels and before sandwiching together to place in an embossing folder, I laid one of the panels in white craft ink.  I like the effect that the craft ink gives to the plain area of the velum, like a parchment.
~I stamped the Lockheart orchid in PTI black ink and clear embossed.  This gave me the little "walls" that I wanted to contain the glaze and shimmer mist in place.
~I used a Claudine Helmuth white glaze on the orchid petals and painted the leaves with a green shimmer mist from Tattered Angels.  The pot was coloured with a few Copic markers.
~I used a lavender coloured thread to stitch around the edges to a BG Kioshi patterned paper larger panel.
~I stamped this ornate frame from PTI's Mat Stack II stamp set and painted the same glimmer mist into the open work of the flourished frame.  It looks like a different colour on the purple BG paper, but it is the same shimmery green.  Fussy cut this out.
~I stitched this narrow hand dyed ribbon with the same thread, using a straight stitch and cinched up to form the teeny ruffling effect, laid across the front panel and wrapped around the card front before adhering the panel to a white card base.
That's it :)
Thanks for taking a peek today, your kind comments are always appreciated !

"Beeting" Heart

Hi there!

everyone getting some challenges done? There are so, so many good ones to get in on this week! I am combining two on this card. I have used a piece of chipboard (under the heart on flower shape on chipboard) and that counts for one of the Verve challenges (VSJAN10C) to use a piece of chipboard. The other challenge is another that I really, really wanted to participate in when I saw it yesterday morning on the MoxieFabWorld blog. Cath has challenged us to create a "complete" card or inside and out. I must admit, I do not finish the insides of my cards, but boy oh boy, this was fun! My idea came from this great DCWD Farmer's Market paper I had with beautiful, richly textured and coloured beets and beet greens. I thought of making a valentine showing a heart on the front with "my" beside it, and then the sentiment inside reads Beets For You with a cute Lockhart stamp (it's actually a radish stamp, but let's please pretend it to be beets) The strip of paper on the front of the card is the Farmer's Market paper and the card base is SU Always Artichoke. The border punch is MS and these ivory seed beads were purchased at Hobby Lobby some time last year. The scored straight lines on the front and inside were made with my scoring blade and the rounded zig zag is a CB EF strip. I shaded the beets using Copics and cut them out and placed on a pop dot. A little goofy for my style...but that's the great thing with challenges isn't it? Gets you thinking differently and a little out of your comfort zone.

Thanks for peeking in today.

Bittersweet Cupcake

Hello again everyone. Hope you are all enjoying your week-end. It has been record cold here in Austin! I am staying inside and keeping warm and crafting a little ;)
This is the latest challenge that I attempted. It is from Taylor VB. I don't have any of Taylor's stamps just yet, but wanted to work with this fab sketch she put out there, so here it is...
I am in the Valentine mode right now and enjoying this same paper pack from last year, Basic Grey's Bittersweet. I love the rich colours and I'm pretty sure that this won't be the last card you will see that I create using this pretty dp. The card base is a textured Bazzil chocolate, layered on top of that is SU Pirouhette Pink, the stripe from Bittersweet and another square of the flourished pattern from Bittersweet. The little cupcake (a new Lockheart that I bought from Ellen Hutson last week) was stamped in SU
basic brown and coloured in with my Copic markers and then I glazed the hearts. Don't know if you can tell from this photo, but they pop out a little.
The cupcake was then placed on a petite scalloped circle and that was placed on a CB heart die shape.
I made the little tag and cut out the stamped SU phrase hugs & kisses and arranged on the tag. I had this length of fine brown twine that I wrapped around the card front before I attached to the card base and tied this teeny-tiny bow, that took a couple of tries :) Thanks for peeking in,

colourful zinnias

Yay, I did it!   If you have been peeking in the last couple of days, you know that I have been trying to get these 5 sketches done for the Verve sketch challenge.  The release party is fast approaching and I was really hustling to try to get them all done.  Here is the last one I had to make.  I decided to go with a Fallish theme and selected this Lockheart zinnia flowerpot.  I stamped the image in SU basic gray ink on white and then had fun colouring with my Copics.  I matted all of the circles and panels with the teeny polks dots from PTI and the SU Mango from the last In Color set.  I used circle and label 4 nesties for the shapes and cut out the framed image with scissors.  Thanks for looking!
Chriss    Here is a close-up.
