25 Things About Superman You Didn't Know

Virgin Movies put this infographic together prior to the release of Man of Steel, and I thought I would share it.  And there are several things I didn't know.  Like Gene Hackman refusing to cut his hair and Marlon Brando refusing to learn his lines.  Pretty cool stuff.  Check it out.

What a Hot Mess: Hello, Entertainment Weekly? Where's Brandon Routh's Glory as Superman?

I'm sorry, but this is a hot mess.  Literally!  I just received my Entertainment Weekly in the mail and I'm disgusted with this magazine.  I think I'm going to quit it after this debauchery.  How do you cover Superman with 75 years of glory and not put the man who played him last, Brandon Routh?  Seriously, he was hot, perfect, and did exceptionally well as Superman.  I wasted my time watching Tom Welling on the CW's Smallville and he didn't even don the cape until the very end, and just barely.  Superman Returns actually made more than Batman Begins, grossing over $400 million dollars, so the movie didn't bomb.  And while everyone wants to blame it on Routh, the blaming goes much higher than that.  Regardless if the writers and producers didn't want to make it into a franchise, the man deserves credit where credit is due.  This is just absolutely wrong! One Hot Mess indeed!

Man of Steel: Create Your Own Kryptonian Name and Glyph

This is pretty cool - I'm a member of the House of Van.
While all of us are anxiously waiting for the return of Superman in a couple weeks, Warner Brothers has given us the ability to create a Superman-style glyph along with our Kryptonian name.

Once you've created your glyph, you can download it, share it or upload one of your photos to the site and have the glyph superimposed on your chest.

To get started click here and create yours now!

The Most Terrifying Images You Will Ever See

I swiped these images from Dustin Romero at World of Wonder and if there's one thing I can definitely agree with him on, it's these terrifying images of Superman.  Or what could have been.

Movies in Rewind: Thor as the Huntsman, Thor as Thor

I don't know, Ryan and I went and saw Snow White and The Huntsman last weekend, and well... I couldn't get past the Bella and Thor characters that Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart play.  Unfortunately, they will have to face the backlash for playing those iconic roles for several years or for the rest of their lives.

The same went for actors in the past who have died, i.e. Christopher Reeve as Superman, or those who are still alive, Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. The list goes on.

Regardless, the movie was entertaining. I will not spoil it for anyone.  I just found these images online and had to say something about Thor and the Huntsman.

Laugh of the Day: Super Cafe - Bat Phone

Absolutely hilarious!  The following video premiered last week, and I just barely got around to watching it.  Superman and Batman are back in this hilarious How It Should Have Ended production.
In today's video, the guys are back in the Super cafe, and this time Batman insists he doesn't need the new iPhone, he's got a sweet BAT PHONE, and no one is going to convince him otherwise.  This is a definite Must Watch!

If you don't remember my previous post, "Laugh of the Day: Super Cafe - The Super Social Network," you can view it here.  In the video, Superman and Batman had posted Facebook updates and Batman thought Superman's updates were "coming across as a little arrogant".  It was OMG hilarious.

Must Watch: Superman vs. The Hulk

I saw a video this morning on my Facebook newsfeed that blew me away.  I attribute this to Facebook friend, Sean Hodges for sharing it.  Thank you Sean.
Since we're on the subject of Superheros.... you're going to love all three of these videos - Trust me, you will.  The artist is unbelievably talented, and I'd have to say a CGI genius.  I'm going to download the videos before DC and Marvel get a hold of his work.  You know there's always some type of legal ramification for this sort of thing.
How many of you have wanted to see two of the most powerful entities in the comic book universe square off in battle royale outside of the comic book pages? Since neither Marvel or DC Comics will cross their content streams in the world of movies–crossover comic stories don’t count; nor do video games–it’s up to the fans to provide what’s missing.
And that’s just what Michael Habjan did by bringing us installments of his “Superman vs Hulk: The Fight” series. There have been three of these installments of the fan-made series, with the latest one dropping earlier this week. Part one of the fight hit YouTube on June 11, 2011, and after over 4 million views, the incentive to continue with further “episodes” was obvious. It should be noted the series began with an introduction video before the fight episodes, acting almost as a trailer for the upcoming videos.

Note how Habjan made his Superman look like Christopher Reeve:

This led to the first episode of the fight, which dropped six months after the initial video, which gives you an idea about how long it takes Habjan to make these videos. Next up is the first installment of the Hulk/Superman throwdown:

For part two, Habjan concentrated on improving the look of the models he used for both Superman and the Hulk, and the results are noticeable:

Notice how it ends with something of a cliffhanger? Will the Hulk pound Superman into dust or will Kal-El be able to turn the tables and get the upper hand? Since Habjan has already indicated Part 3 will soon be available, it’s clear the fight between the two comic book power houses isn’t over. Not even close. As for the production and the credits, Habjan lists them over at video’s YouTube page, while acknowledging he’s not affiliated with either Marvel or DC. With that in mind, it’s a little surprising neither company has stepped in and issued a cease and desist request.
The credits, according to Habjan:
This is the second part to my ongoing animation project, a tribute project to Superman and The Incredible Hulk. As you’ll notice, the models and overall look has evolved and will continue to do so in future sequences. I’m already working on a new look for the Hulk on the next one. I got professional help this time in the music and sound design department, provided by the talented Francois Gratecap, which has made the whole project that much better. So my thanks to him. The Death and Return of Superman

I swear I don't know how I come across some of these videos, but OMG if you're a comic book, superhero fan, Superman fan, whatever, I don't care, just watch this hilarious re-telling of the infamous comic book, The Death and Return of Superman. The short film is narrated by Max Landis, the screenwriter to the movie, Chronicle.

It also stars Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Morgan Krantz, Matt Bennett, and many more.  Trust me, you are going to love this.

Laugh of the Day: Super Cafe - The Super Social Network

You superhero fans are gonna love this.  I couldn't keep from laughing it was too funny.  This has to be my laugh of the day... for now at least ;-)
Superman and Batman are posting updates and Batman thinks Superman's updates "are coming across as a little arrogant"

This is a definite must watch, you absolutely have to see it if you're a Superman or Batman fan.

DC Showcases New Superman...

...and boy is he Super! I'm totally digging his new costume; I think Zack Snyder should re-think his costume idea, and add a red belt like in this comic.

I know I questioned the red underpants being gone in the new movie, Man of Steel, but if they added a red belt it would be perfect!

No One Believed Me, But It's True! Superman No Longer Is...

...wearing red underpants!

I mentioned it several weeks ago, and I still feel the same way!  This is a blasphemy!  There is no need to change our superheros' outfits!

Okay, so they did it with Batman, but that's Batman, and frankly I could care less with what happens with Batman - this is SUPERMAN for god's sake! SUPERMAN!

As you can see in the leaked photos of the new movie, Man of Steel, the Krypton God is not wearing his red underwear, which confirms my terrifying rumor was true.  It truly is a sad day for the country and the world.  Putting that aside, the villainess in the photo looks pretty darn cool, she is the one donning the black cape.

Henry Cavill Teases Us With His New Superman Outfit

I am really starting to miss Brandon Routh, my one and only Superman!  He was gorgeous, luscious, and oh, so tall and muscular.  Henry Cavill is hot, but I'm not sure the fish-scaled outfit he's wearing or if making Superman without red underpants was a good idea.
I don't know... the hair, everything about it, smells fishy to me.  And you all know how much flak we gave the new Wonder Woman outfit.  It never made it to the small screen.

Of course, the new Superman movie will hit the big screen, because too much money has been invested already, and the movie is almost done filming.  What do you think?  Do you like it so far?

Superman Returns as Dylan Dog

Everytime I see this man shivers run down my spine, and well... other things occur, but that's a different subject.

Brandon Routh returns to the big screen as Dylan Dog, a supernatural private eye who always dresses the same way, in a red shirt, black jacket, and blue jeans. The character is based on Italian horror comic series based in London.

In the upcoming movie, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, due out in theaters April 29th, Mr. Dog will be specializing in the affairs of the undead. His PI business card reads “No Pulse? No Problem.” Armed with an edgy wit and carrying an arsenal of silver and wood-tipped bullets, Dylan must track down a dangerous artifact before a war ensues between his werewolf, vampire and zombie clients living undercover in the monster infested backstreets of New Orleans.

If you haven't seen the trailer, you can now;  Besides, I'm more than sure you have no complaints seeing superman without a shirt.

Who's Who on Superman: Man of Steele?

We already know who will be playing Superman (Henry Cavill), but who will be playing his worldly parents?

Zack Snyder, the director of Superman: Man of Steele, along with Warner Brothers announced yesterday, that Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Secretariat) would be playing Martha Kent, "the only mother Clark Kent has ever known," and “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

The Hollywood Reporter also writes that Kevin Costner is a "person of interest" for the role of Superman's father, Jonathan Kent.

Other well-known actors possibly joining the cast are Viggo Mortensen as General Zod and Lindsay Lohan as Ursa, but we all know what kinda mess Lindsay is in.  And besides, a rumor is just that, a rumor.  Until Warner Bros. or Zack Snyder come out and say who's playing who, I'll leave it at that.

Superman Returns! Wait... it's a reboot.

Take a look at your new Superman!  Warner Bros. made an announcement over the weekend on who would be the next man to don the blue tights and the red cape, and it's Tudors star, Henry Cavill.

"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield," said the film's director, Zack Snyder.
