An Indian farmer’s daughter disarmed a terrorist leader who broke into her home, attacked him with an axe and shot him dead with his own gun.Yes, give her the dough, she's earned it! Plus the presidential prize. There's a girl who should set an example for how to stand up to terrorists.
Rukhsana Kausar, 21, was with her parents and brother in Jammu and Kashmir when three gunmen, believed to be Pakistani militants, forced their way in and demanded food and beds for the night.
[...]
His daughter was hiding under a bed when she heard him crying as the gunmen thrashed him with sticks. According to police, she ran towards her father’s attacker and struck him with an axe. As he collapsed, she snatched his AK47 and shot him dead.
She also shot and wounded another militant as he made his escape.
Police have hailed the woman’s bravery.
They said she would be nominated for the president’s gallantry award.
She may also receive a €4,500 reward if, as police believe, the dead terrorist is confirmed as Uzafa Shah, a wanted Pakistani LeT commander who had been active in the area for the past four years.

OBAMA'S PAKISTAN CONNECTIONS
The website of All Things Pakistan has some very interesting things to tell about Obama. For example, his mother, Ann Dunham, lived in Pakistan for five years, and Obama himself spent time there:
Second, Barack Obama has himself visited Pakistan. Indeed, Barack Obama may have visited Pakistan for longer than any U.S. President or presidential candidate ever has. As so many college students do, he seemed eager to see the world. He was in Karachi in 1981 as a young student, returning from a visit to his mother in Indonesia. According to a New York Times report:Wow, now this is very eyebrow-raising too, and I wouldn't be surprised if not many in the MSM pick up on this. But I think it certainly is worthy of attention as to what kind of connections he's got.
…Mr. Obama also spoke about having traveled to Pakistan in the early 1980s. Because of that trip, which he did not mention in either of his autobiographical books, “I knew what Sunni and Shia was before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,” he said… According to his campaign staff, Mr. Obama visited Pakistan in 1981, on the way back from Indonesia, where his mother and half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, were living. He spent “about three weeks” there, Mr. Obama’s press secretary, Bill Burton, said, staying in Karachi with the family of a college friend, Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, but also traveling to Hyderabad, in India.
Finally, as mentioned in the excerpt above, Senator Obama had a number of Pakistani friends during his college days, and it was that friendship that brought him to Pakistan. Some details, again, from the same New York Times report:
…In Dreams from My Father, he talks of having a Pakistani roommate when he moved to New York, a man he calls Sadik who “had overstayed his tourist visa and now made a living in New York’s high-turnover, illegal immigrant work force, waiting on tables”… During his years at Occidental College, Mr. Obama also befriended Wahid Hamid, a fellow student who was an immigrant from Pakistan and traveled with Mr. Obama there, the Obama campaign said. Mr. Hamid is now a vice president at Pepsico in New York, and according to public records, has donated the maximum $2,300 to the Obama campaign and is listed as a fund-raiser for it. Mr. Chandoo is now a self-employed financial consultant, living in Armonk, N.Y. He has also donated the maximum, $2,300, to Mr. Obama’s primary campaign and an additional $309 for the general election, campaign finance records show.

DEFENDING THE INDEFENSIBLE
Moslems excel at defending barbarism.
From the August 31, 2008 edition of the Washington Post comes this buried item:
But the story gets nil coverage on the evening news.
Why is that? Where is the outcry?
Can't you imagine the coverage were such barabarity practiced and defended by Jews or Christians, particularly those in a political position?
Islam: Stuck in the Seventh Century. And Islam will continue to be stuck there as long as the mainstream media ignore such stories and continue the whitewash of Islam.

PAKISTANOkay, so maybe there are news reports out there in the mainstream media, and maybe human rights activists are outraged.
Honor Killings Defended
A Pakistani lawmaker defended a decision by southwestern tribesmen to bury five women alive because they wanted to choose their own husbands, telling stunned members of Parliament to spare him their outrage.
"These are centuries-old traditions, and I will continue to defend them," Israr Ullah Zehri, who represents Baluchistan province, said Saturday. "Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid."
The women, three of whom were teenagers, were first shot and then thrown into a ditch.
They were still breathing as their bodies were covered with rocks and mud, according to news reports and human rights activists.

DEADLY "ACCIDENT" AT PAKISTANI NUKE PLANT
YAHOO/AP:
A gas leak sparked an explosion and fire Tuesday at a nuclear plant that is believed to produce enriched plutonium for Pakistan's atomic weapons program. Two workers were killed.
The Khushab heavy water plant was shut down while undergoing annual maintenance at the time, the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission said. The commission evacuated the plant but assured the public that there was no risk of exposure outside the sprawling facility southeast of the capital, Islamabad.
The "situation was immediately brought under control, and two workers lost their lives while controlling the incident," the commission said.
It said the leaking gas was burned off by plant equipment and that the cause was under investigation.
The government claims Khushab produces electricity. Last year, the Washington-based Institute of Science for International Security said the plant has three reactors, including two that were still under construction last June. It cited satellite photos of the sprawling site that is under military control.
The development of the reactor and other nuclear-related activities "imply" that Pakistan has decided to "increase significantly its production of plutonium for nuclear weapons," the institute said in a report analyzing the images.
Police near the plant said they were advised by plant officials to prepare buses for a wider evacuation, but then were told they would not be needed. ...
Ghulam Muhammad, the mayor of the neighboring town of Khushab, said there was initial panic as the plant and the residential colony for workers were evacuated and roadblocks thrown up to cordon off the area.
Within three hours, plant management gave an all clear and removed the roadblocks, he said, adding he was unhappy that local officials were not immediately told of the incident.
- ACCIDENT... OR ATTACK & COVER-UP?
- OTHER NUKE SITES IN PAKISTAN HAVE BEEN TARGETED BY AL QAEDA.
- JUST A FEW DAYS AGO A PAKISTANI WORKING IN A USA THINK TANK SAID THAT THESE SITES ARE SAFE, BUT I DON'T BELIEVE 'EM; PAKISTAN'S MILITARY MUST BE LITTERED WITH TALIBAN SYMPS.

PAKISTAN'S NEW COALITION PROMISES TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE JIHADOTERRORISTS
APPEASEMENT.
AS IF THAT EVER WORKED.
NYTIMES/AFP:
AS IF THAT EVER WORKED.
NYTIMES/AFP:
Faced with a sharp escalation of suicide bombings in urban areas, the leaders of Pakistan’s new coalition government say they will negotiate with the militants believed to be orchestrating the attacks, and will use military force only as a last resort.WHAT'S THE HARM OF CONDUCTING NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE TALIBAN AND AL QAEDA!?!?
That talk has alarmed American officials, who fear it reflects a softening stance toward the militants just as President Pervez Musharraf has given the Bush administration a freer hand to strike at militants using pilotless Predator drones.
Many Pakistanis, however, are convinced that the surge in suicide bombings — 17 in the first 10 weeks of 2008 — is retaliation for three Predator strikes since the beginning of the year. The spike in attacks, combined with the crushing defeat of Mr. Musharraf’s party in February parliamentary elections, has brought demands for change in his American-backed policies.
Speaking in separate interviews, the leaders of Pakistan’s new government coalition — Asif Ali Zardari of the Pakistan Peoples Party and Nawaz Sharif, head of the Pakistan Muslim League-N — tried to strike a more independent stance from Washington and repackage the conflict in a more palatable way for Pakistanis.
They said they were determined to set a different course from that of President Musharraf, who has received generous military financial help of more than $10 billion from Washington for his support.
“We are dealing with our own people,” said Mr. Sharif, who was twice prime minister in the 1990s. “We will deal with them very sensibly. And when you have a problem in your own family, you don’t kill your own family. You sit and talk. After all, Britain also got the solution of the problem of Ireland. So what’s the harm in conducting negotiations?”
- THESE TWO GUYS - SHARIF AND ZARDARI -ARE CORRUPT FELLOW-TRAVELERS OF THE ENEMY.
- THEY'RE IN IT FOR THE MONEY, AND WOULD "BUY" SOME "PEACE."
- THEY'LL GET AS MUCH PEACE AS CHAMBERLAIN GOT.

BHUTTO'S PARTY READY TO SURRENDER TO TALIBAN - of course they call it "dialogue" and "autonomy"
CNN:
*******UPDATE: THE TALIBAN ARE ALREADY FLEXING THEIR MUSCLES AT THE PROSPECT OF A NEW ACCOMMODATIONIST REGIME:
The Pakistan People's Party, which swept the parliamentary elections last week on Sunday called for an end to military operations in the southwestern Pakistani province where intelligence officials believe Taliban leaders may be holed up.
In a resolution issued Sunday after a meeting of top leaders, the PPP called on the army to immediately stop its operation in Balochistan, a province near the Afghan border.
The party also asked that all prisoners, be released and said it would work toward giving "maximum provincial autonomy" to the area.
- THIS IS TANTAMOUNT TO SURRENDER.
- THIS IS NEARLY EXACTLY WHAT THE DEMOCRATS WOULD HAVE US DO IN IRAQ.
- IT IS APPEASEMENT AT BEST, CAPITULATION AT WORST.
*******UPDATE: THE TALIBAN ARE ALREADY FLEXING THEIR MUSCLES AT THE PROSPECT OF A NEW ACCOMMODATIONIST REGIME:
Pakistan militants linked to Al-Qaeda warned any incoming civilian government on Sunday that they would strike even more viciously if President Pervez Musharraf's war on terror was continued in tribal areas.THESE ARE THE FRUITS OF APPEASEMENT.
Following last week's inconclusive election, several political parties are in talks to form a coalition big enough for a ruling majority in the National Assembly. How they deal with the militants will be one of their most pressing challenges.
In northwest Pakistan on Sunday, militants attacked a security post and killed a policeman and two paramilitary servicemen and wounded six others, officials said.

MUSHARRAF FOES ANNOUNCE THEY WANT TO TALK WITH JIHADISTS
MORE PROOF THAT MUSHARRAF WAS OUR BEST BET, AND HIS VICTORIOUS FOES PART OF THE PROBLEM - WHIO ARE GOING TO MAKE THINGS WORSE; NYTIMES:
THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHAT THE THAIS DID - AFTER THEIR COUP, AND THEY GOT THE EXPECTED RESULTS: THE JIHAD IN SOUTHERN THAILAND GOT WORSE.
APPEASEMENT HAS NEVER EVER WORKED - NOT ANYWHERE, NOT ANYTIME.
The winners of Pakistan’s parliamentary elections said Tuesday that they would take a new approach to fighting Islamic militants by pursuing more dialogue than military confrontation, ...
The two opposition parties share similar views of how to tackle the terrorism problem. The new approach is more likely to be responsive to the consensus of the Pakistani public than was Mr. Musharraf’s and is more likely to shun a heavy hand by the military and rely on dialogue with the militants.
Mr. Zardari said his party would seek talks with the militants in the tribal areas along the Afghan border, where the Taliban and Al Qaeda have carved out a stronghold, as well as with the nationalist militants who have battled the Pakistani Army in Baluchistan Province.
Many in Pakistan, including several parties that boycotted the elections, have been strongly opposed to Mr. Musharraf’s use of the army to battle tribesmen in the name of the campaign against terrorism, which is seen as an American agenda.
“We will have a dialogue with those who are up in the mountains and those who are not in Parliament,” Mr. Zardari said. “We want to take all those along who are against Pakistan and working against Pakistan.”
THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHAT THE THAIS DID - AFTER THEIR COUP, AND THEY GOT THE EXPECTED RESULTS: THE JIHAD IN SOUTHERN THAILAND GOT WORSE.
APPEASEMENT HAS NEVER EVER WORKED - NOT ANYWHERE, NOT ANYTIME.
- WHAT MAKES THIS EVEN MORE IDIOTIC IN PAKISTAN IS THAT MUSHARRAF HIMSELF TRIED THIS - AND IT HAS ALREADY FAILED.
- THINGS ARE GOING TO BE GETTING WORSE IN PAKISTAN - AND I PREDICT IT WILL WORSEN IN A HURRY.
- THE ENEMY WILL SEE THE RESULTS AND THESE COMMENTS BT ZARDARI AND SHARIF AS A GREEN LIGHT.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistanis dealt a crushing defeat to President Pervez Musharraf in parliamentary elections Monday, in what government and opposition politicians said was a firm rejection of his policies since 2001 and those of his close ally, the United States.
Almost all the leading figures in the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, the party that has governed for the last five years under Musharraf, lost their seats, including the leader of the party, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein, the former speaker of parliament, Chaudhry Amir Hussein, and six ministers.
Though official results would not be announced until Tuesday, early returns indicated that the vote would usher in a prime minister from one of the opposition parties, and opened the prospect of a parliament that would move to undo many of Musharraf's policies and that may even try to remove him.
The early edge went to the opposition Pakistan Peoples Party, which seemed to benefit from a strong wave of sympathy in reaction to the assassination of its leader, Benazir Bhutto, eight weeks ago, and may be in a position to form the next government.
A leading lawmaker of the co-governing Social Democratic Party reported widespread election fraud in Pakistan, the daily Mitteldeutsche Zeitung newspaper said in a report to hit the newsstands on Tuesday.
"The question is not if the election was manipulated but what the scope of it was," said Sebastian Edathy who had been accredited by the Pakistani government as an election monitor.
"One cannot speak of real democracy. All of it, is far away from being a fair process," the chairman of the Germany-South Asian parliamentary group added.
Edathy pointed out that 20 million additional ballot papers were in circulation, compared to the actual number of eligible voters.
OTHER NEWS SOURCES AND NOTED PAKISTANI PERSONAGES CLAIM THAT THE FRAUD WAS IN FCAT RAMPANT AND ON THE PART OF THE PPP - REDIFF (INDIA): PPP rigged polls massively: Benazir's niece
February 18, 2008 18:50 IST
Slain Pakistani leader Benazir Bhutto's [Images] niece Fatima Bhutto has accused her aunt's party of carrying out massive rigging in some polling stations of Larkana in Sindh province.
Fatima, the daughter of late Mir Murtaza Bhutto brother of Benazir, forced the closure of voting for around two hours at a polling station in Larkana over the alleged rigging by Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
Waving the voters' list, Fatima claimed that most of the names did not have their national identity card numbers on the list and this was nothing but "plain rigging".
The Sindh province is the stronghold of PPP, which is expected to sweep the polls.
Fatima claimed the PPP was trying to ride on a wave of sympathy following the killing of Benazir and was not following election rules.

PAKISTANI NUCLEAR STAFF GO MISSING
Two members of Pakistan's atomic energy agency have been abducted (from the BBC):
OR, WERE THESE STAGED ABDUCTIONS?
The technicians went missing on the same day as Pakistan's ambassador toRELIAPUNDIT ASKS: REALLY ABDUCTED?? WHY?? WHAT DO THE TERRORISTS WANT THEM FOR!?
Afghanistan, Tariq Azizuddin, was reportedly abducted in the same region.
Mr Azizuddin had been going overland from the city of Peshawar to Kabul.
Pakistan's north-west has witnessed fierce fighting between Islamist militants and government troops.
The pro-Taleban guerrillas declared a unilateral ceasefire last week after months of clashes with troops garrisoned there.
The workers from Pakistan's Atomic Energy Commission were on a mission to map mineral deposits in the mountains when they were kidnapped, police say.
"The technicians were going for some geological survey in the area when they were kidnapped at gunpoint along with their driver," Romail Akram, a senior police official, told Reuters news agency.
Their vehicle was intercepted by masked gunmen in the Dera Ismail Khan district, a stronghold of local militants.
"We don't know if the abductors were militants or members of some criminal gang," a local police chief, Akbar Nasir, told the AFP news agency. He said efforts to locate the missing men had yet to yield any results.

BREAKING: NEW BHUTTO ASSASSINATION VIDEO
IT REINFORCES MY INTERPRETATION OF THE PREVIOUS VIDEOS: IT SHOWS THE BULLETS MISSED HER AND SHE WAS KILLED BY THE BLAST.
OMAR AND BINLADEN IN QUETTA, PAKISTAN
UPI:
WIKI: Quetta Demography
U.S. intelligence officials say al-Qaida's Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban's Mullah Omar are planning their attack strategies from within Pakistan.
Speaking with reporters in Washington, a senior U.S. intelligence official said Bin Laden and Omar both are living in Pakistan, despite denials to the contrary from Pakistani leaders, the BBC reported.
Omar, and other senior Taliban leaders, are coordinating attacks and fueling the insurgency in Afghanistan from Quetta in Pakistan's Balochistan Province, said the official, who provided no details about how western intelligence sources came by their information.
WIKI: Quetta Demography
In the 1998 census Quetta was the ninth largest city of Pakistan with a population of 565,137. However, the population has risen sharply since then. The city in general is dominated by a Pashtun majority, a Balochi and Hazara minority with an eclectic smattering of smaller groups. However the city is also a home to millions of Afghan immigrants. The Pushto, Balochi, Persian (Hazaragi dialect), Brahui, Sindhi, Punjabi and Urdu languages are spoken in Quetta.THESE JIHADO-SCU*BAGS ARE HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT... WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
- WE NEED TO QUIETLY THREATEN PAKISTAN WITH A QUARANTINE IF THEY DON'T QUARANTINE QUETTA.
- WE TELL THEM TO SURROUND QUETTA WITHIN A DATE CERTAIN. AND THEN "GET" OMAR AND OSAMA.
- IF THEY FAIL TO DO THE QUARANTINE, THEN WE USE DRONES TO ATTACK ANY AND ALL SUSPECTED AL QAEDA HIDEOUTS. DAMN THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE.

SCOTLAND YARD'S "BHUTTO INVESTIGATION" VINDICATES MUSHARRAF - AND THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS
NYTIMES: SCOTLAND YARD AGREES WITH MUSHARRAF - BHUTTO KILLED BY BLAST FORCE, NOT BULLETS
I compared this video to the Zapruder film: JFK head exploded from the exiting bullet; Bhutto exhibited NO effect from any bullet entry or exit, and her voluntary movement after the shots and before the blast indicated to me that she had definitely NOT been hit.
I was right. I alone in the MSM and the blogosphere.
I am glad to be vindicated by Scotland yard.
I am ALWAYS skeptical of CW and the MSM. CW is most often wring; the MSM is BLATANTLY BIASED.
The MSM JUMPED at the chance to smear a good ally in the GWOT: MUSHARRAF.
And most of the blogosphere fell for it.
Shame on you all.
You should know by know: most of what the MSM has to say about the GWOT is WRONG - and deliberately so.
On the Bhutto assassination the MSM LEAPED at the chance to smear Musharraf - and ever since then they and the leftie Dems have been promoting Zardari, Sharif and Khan - three despicable anti-American pro-Taliban you-know-whats.

EXCERPT:
Investigators from Scotland Yard have concluded that Benazir Bhutto, the Pakistani opposition leader, died after hitting her head as she was tossed by the force of a suicide blast, not from an assassin’s bullet, officials who have been briefed on the inquiry said Thursday. When the video of the Bhutto assassination came out EVERYBODY in the MSM and the blogosphere rushed to judgment and BLAMED MUSHARRAF - for the assassination or a cover up.
The findings support the Pakistani government’s explanation of Ms. Bhutto’s death in December, an account that had been greeted with disbelief by Ms. Bhutto’s supporters, other Pakistanis and medical experts.

Pro-Taliban Khan Met With Key Senate Democrats
PIPELINE:
SO WHY ARE THE DEMOCRATS PLAYING FOOTSIE WITH HIS ENEMY?Imran Khan the leader of Pakistan’s Islamist Tehrik-e-Insaaf party [PTI], has been welcomed this week with open arms by the U.S. Senate's Democrat leadership, with whom he has held extensive meetings. ...
Khan, a former professional cricket player, was jailed by president Musharaff in the tumult leading up to the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
He as brought his campaign of undercutting the Pakistani leader to America where he is apparently receiving prominent Democrat support.
Imran Khan's instigation of the riots caused by the Quran flushing rumor seems to have earned him "street cred" with the Taliban supporting Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal [MMA] party, with whose leader, Qazi Hussain, Khan has partnered in hopes of further destabilizing the Musharaff administration.
- ON THE LEFT, IT IS CHIC TO SAY MUSHARRAF IS A BAD MAN WHO DOESN'T DESERVES USA SUPPORT.
- THIS IS BS - AS ANTI-AMERICAN AS WHEN THE SAME LEFTIES CRITIQUED THE SHAH.
- MUSHARRAF IS A GOOD ALLY.
- AS WE FIRST RELAYED, HE MET SECRETLY WITH BARAK IN PARIS.

PAKISTAN'S ARMY ADVANCING ON THE ENEMY
TIMES OF INDIA:
At least 25 pro-Taliban militants were killed on Sunday as security forces backed by helicopter gunships and artillery took control of a strategic tunnel in northwestern Pakistan that had been occupied by the extremists.
Militants on Saturday occupied the Japanese-built Kohat tunnel near Darra Adam Khel town after security forces launched a major operation in the area to trace four trucks carrying ammunition that had been hijacked by the rebels.
Traffic between the key city of Kohat and Peshawar, the capital of the North West Frontier Province, had been blocked after the militants captured the tunnel. Scores of vehicles had been stranded on both sides of the tunnel.
"Twenty-four militants have been killed," military spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas said. Two security personnel were injured in Sunday's clashes.
Security forces had cleared the area around the tunnel of militants "after fierce fighting" and the rebels were present only on "a couple of heights".
Abbas said: "The tunnel is now under the control of the security forces."
Troops used artillery, helicopter gunships and heavy machine guns to evict militants holed up in bunkers on hills overlooking the tunnel.
- MUSHARRAF IS A GOOD ALLY - HE DESERVES OUR SUPPORT.
- THAT'S WHY THE LEFTISTS ON THE MSM, IN THE DEMOCRAT PARTY, AND IN THE STATE DEPARTMENT WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM GONE - AS THEY DID THE SHAH.

MULLAH OMAR FIRES MEHSUD

Mullah Omar sacks Baitullah for fighting against Pak ArmyTHESE DIVISION'S REVEAL THAT THE ENEMY IS BEING SMASHED UNDER THE HAMMER AND ANVIL OF NATO AND THE PAKISTAN ARMY.
* Maulvi Faqir refuses to be new TTP chief
LAHORE: Taliban chief Mullah Omar has sacked Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud for fighting against the Pakistan Army instead of with NATO forces, Asia Times Online reported on Friday.
The news website quoted Mullah Omar as telling other Taliban commanders to turn their focus on NATO forces stationed in Afghanistan.
The sacking comes at a time when President Pervez Musharraf has launched an intense military operation against Baitullah in South Waziristan.
Mullah Omar appointed Baitullah as TTP chief, according to the website. Baitullah has been sacked at a time when the Taliban’s spring offensive is just months away. “The Afghan front is quiet because the Taliban and Al Qaeda militants are heavily engaged in fighting Pakistani security forces in Waziristan.
Therefore, Mullah Omar has put his foot down to reset goals for the Taliban: struggle in Afghanistan and not against Pakistan, as was being done by Baitullah Mehsud,” the website reported.
Faqir refuses:
It also quoted intelligence sources as saying that Omar appointed Maulvi Faqir Muhammad as TTP chief but Faqir refused to accept the designation after which the local Taliban were holding meetings to find Baitullah’s replacement. Sources told Asia Times that with Baitullah replaced, Omar would use all Taliban resources in the Tribal Areas to dislodge NATO troops from Afghanistan. However, this leaves Baitullah and his loyalists completely isolated to fight Pakistani forces, according to the report. Baitullah is already named by the government as the main suspect behind Benazir Bhutto’s killing.
IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE WE KILL ALL THE BIGGIES IN THE REGION - OMAR, INCLUDED.
PAKISTAN'S ARMY CONTINUES ASSAULT ON JIHADISTS
AL JAZEERA/AFP: Pakistan army raid kills fighters
Pakistan army soldiers have battled pro-Taliban fighters in regions bordering AfghanistanMUSHARRAF IS A GOOD ALLY.
A helicopter raid by the Pakistani army has killed up to 25 fighters, a senior government official has said.
The fighters were killed on Saturday while attempting to damage the Kohat Tunnel, which links the towns of Kohat and Dara Adam Khel in the North West Frontier Province, the official said.
"Some 20-25 militants have been killed in the attack," Kamran Zeb, district co-ordination officer of the Kohat region, said.
Security forces also battled fighters in South Waziristan, known as a sanctuary for fighters loyal to al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
Evacuation
The helicopter raid came a day after Pakistani troops killed up to 30 tribal fighters during clashes in Dara Adam Khel.
Thousands of residents fled the town before the raid, seeking refuge in Peshawar, 40km away.
Pakistani troops launched a "search and cordon" operation in Dara Adam Khel to find four trucks containing munitions and supplies, the army said.
Helicopter gunships were used in the operation to recover the lorries, which had been seized by fighters On Thursday
Stronghold searched
Security officials said Dara Adam Khel had recently become a stronghold of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a banned Sunni Muslim group which has links to al-Qaeda.
Troops on Friday searched the South Waziristan region, around the hideout of Baitullah Mehsud, a Taliban commander, officials said.
Mehsud is accused by Pakistani officials and the US Central Intelligence Agency of orchestrating the killing of Benazir Bhutto, a former Pakistani prime minister, last month.
More than 200 fighters and 30 soldiers are said to have died during three weeks of fighting in South Waziristan.
