internet connection...

I finally have a connection. First of all let me say that I HATE dial-up. I don't know how I ever lived without DSL. In the area that we just moved to the DSL port is full so I have to have a dial-up connection and I am not happy about that.

I really need to be thankful that I have this connection after all the mumble jumble I had to go through to get it. I have spent about ten hours on the phone in the last two days . After four calls to my phone company , five to Gateway, much groaning and moaning , a few tears , a couple of mad moments , uninstalling then reinstalling Windows I now have a connection and a weak one at that! Needless to say , I won't be spending much time on here until we move and I can get cable hooked up and go through them for internet that doesn't go slower than a turtle. If I spend much time on here I will end up throwing my computer out this two story window beside me. Patience is not one of my virtues! However , the good thing about all this is that I now know my computer inside and out, literally.

I have a lot of downloading and tweaking to do in the next few days. Mozilla Firefox will be my first download because I do NOT use Internet Explorer . I HATE IE that bad.

I feel like such a spoiled brat over this DSL and dial-up thing. For the past two years I have had DSL and I didn't have to wait on anything to load , it was there as soon as I clicked the mouse but with dial-up it takes a while.

Anyways, I have missed all of you so much and I can't wait to move into my new house so that I can get cable and get decent connection.

I am going to get in bed now because my eyes are drooping as I type. Y'all have a good weekend , be safe and take care ! :)

Sorry to hear about your frustrations....I too will soon be going to dialup ....no DSL available out there in the country yet ....unlike you though once I move out there I can only throw my computer through a one story window......hope you rested well....headed to bed now myself!

Don't feel like a spoiled brat - DSL to dial-up is like using a photocopier for five years and then being asked to go back to carbon copies...without the use of whiteout! Everything is a LOT slower.
