Challenge 4 - Things with wings - Midway reminder

Here is some more inspiration from the team for our Things With Wings challenge.

To enter the challenge link your project to the challenge post before this one click HERE or scroll down.

For this card I have used a digi from sponsor Bugaboo called Winbird Snowman.
I have used a die with cross stitches and colored with copics. I gave the bird's hat a fluffy rim and a ponpon as fisnishing touch. DP is CraftEmotions'.

Here's my card made using the Mini Bird Mummy from Limited Runs.  I fussy cut the coloured image and put it on an action wobbler for a bit of interactive fun.  His eyes are nice and glossy like the spooky eyes in the background.  There’s nothing better than combining fun, action and spookiness together for Halloween.  I have a little video of the wobbler action so that you can see the spooky bird dance too.

Tinz

Hi there, sorry this is slightly late - I was all set for a Sunday blog post!! But here they are finally. Firstly I have another Bugaboo creation, which was made for a friends 40th, and does only just fit into the challenge (but I used the other card for my challenge on Wednesday!). Here it is:
I layered two of my images together, along with a sentiment (all from Bugaboo - bugdf; bugjwine and bugjwinesent) and then printed them out onto a layer of cardstock. I coloured the images with promarkers, using a metallic gold for the foil top. I then stamped the 40 using this months free stamps with Creative Stamping magazine and Red pretty colour ink.

My second reminder card uses an image from Limited Runs, called Birds on a Wire:
I used this one to make an ATC, using stripey green card for the base, and layering with green flowers and some leaves. I used the 'Friends Flock Together' sentiment from the stamp set. Again the image was coloured with Promarkers.
Sue

I printed out the image quite large then colored it in with Copics. I then scanned it and took it into Craft Artist, where I added it to a background all made digitally.

My second card is made using BirdTrioSummer from Bugaboo Stamps. This is a very Quirky Bird image and I love it! I collected together my chosen pens to colour the image....and realised that the file also comes with a pre coloured image. That used all the colours I had chosen so I used the pre coloured image. I took it into Craft Artist, resized and printed several copies. A bit of cutting and matting later and I think I have a really "happy" card. Would be good for Birthday, Get Well, Thank you...anything really.

Jane

For this card I have used Winter Bird trio from Bugaboo Stamps and some retro styled paper from a pad called Contemporary Christmas - I can't see a brand name on it.

June 2017 - Quirky Things With Wings

To see who won the last challenge see the previous post below this one. {add link to winner's post on the word previous post}

This month is it my turn (Jane) to choose the challenge theme, and I have chosen "Quirky Things With Wings."

Please note that due to Inlinkz expiring on the 22nd June the challenge will end on 22nd June not the normal 28th.

Due to personal problems this will be the last challenge for a few months.
We hope to regroup and get back in the Autumn, possibly with a new focus more on mixed media and stamping, and we still want a few new team members and we would love any non digi sponsors who can contact us if interested.

Our first sponsor  is:
who are giving a prize of any 3 digis of the winner's choice

Limited Runs Badge

and our second is:
who are giving a prize of a $12 voucher.

Bugaboo have a brand new store and now take Paypal, don't forget to check out the weekly freebie and sale offers too!

Now here is some inspiration for you and first of all I would like to welcome our guest designers.

The image I have used is Minibirds - tea. I have colored with copics and die cut with a stitched die and added some sequins. The sentiment is part of the digi, but as I wanted to use it on a tag, I made the sentiment in Word, printed it out and used a stitched label die. I put some Glossy Accents on the birds' eyes.

and next is
Michelle
who has used Butterfly #1 from Limited Runs

Art is not about perfection, but about creating. I try to use different materials and see what I come up with. I think a blue and gold butterfly is different and unusual. I definitely like the unusual!

Tracy

My Quirky Thing With Wings is the adorable Mini Bird Mummy from Limited Runs.  Could there be anything cuter or quirkier than a pretty little yellow bird wrapped up in ghoulish mummy bandages?  I printed the image, coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut it out, then used it to make a Halloween shaker card, a quirky mix of cuteness, spookiness and interactive fun.

Now onto the regular team's makes:

Tinz
As this is our last challenge for a couple of months I have made two cards this time - one from each sponsor. From Limited Runs I have used the progressive challenge Digi Steampunk Bug - It did take some consideration as to how I was going to use him but here he is:
I coloured him with Promarkers and used X-cut nexting oval dies to cut the shapes. The holographic paper was in my stash, and the sentiment was just typed on the computer and means 'Don't let the B***ards grind you down', which I thought was great for this guy!

My second card uses last weeks Friday Freebie from Bugaboo stamps - Spring Bird - again coloured with Promarkers and then layered over several scraps of patterned paper - both printed from a Digital Delights Boofle CD-Rom:

Sue

I used Ed the Turkey from Limited Runs coloured with Copics. I ebossed the background with a tree folder as it just didn't look right plain. The fence was cut on my Silhouette and added as without he looked like he was floating in mid air! The trees are Tim Holtz dies cut out in white and sponged with green ink

My first make is using MiniBirdsCake4 from Limited Runs. I thought this was a great image for cards for young and old, boy and girl. Coloured with Spectrum Noir pens.

 Jane
I have used Dragonfly #1 from Limited Runs and combined it with a stamped sentiment, some pretty dragonfly brads and a selection of papers from an old K & Company stack

Cazzy
Both of my cards are ones I made for previous challenges, I just haven't had the time or a tiny space to work! For this card I used a  Circle Sentiments Little Bird Told me (which I can't find in the new shop, so it may be retired) and Ladybug stack, both from Bugaboo, kinda cute I think! Again ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons.

From Limited Runs I used Mushrooms 7 and a Whootie Owl for my card, with Papermania double sided papers, using both sides matted, and finished off with some some polka dot ribbon.

Any crafty project is acceptable as usual. Important: BEFORE you link up please add a link to the Quirky Crafts Challenges blog (http://quirkycrafts.blogspot.com - the blog not this post) to your post - or you will not be able to enter. Challenge 3- Going For A Song - Mid Way Reminder

We are half way through May already!
Here is your reminder to post your creations for our current challenge of Going For A Song.
Just to remind you the challenge is to create something, anything, inspired by a song you love. We have sponsors, which means prizes are up for grabs. For full details of the challenge or to enter the challenge link your project to the challenge post before this one click HERE or scroll down.

Here are some more Design Team creations to give you inspiration:-

Jane

I have used the same Ike's Art image, Windmill, as I did in the original challenge post, but this  time the tune that inspired me is "Tulips from Amsterdam". I blew the image  right up before printing and then fussy cut to leave just the tulips, which I then coloured with Promarkers to match some of the beautiful tulips we had in the garden this year.

Tinz
I have used Skully Poe from Delicious Doodles to create my reminder card.
I coloured the image with Promarkers and layered on card matching the books the head is sitting on. I layered onto a Papermania geometric base card and then added a contrsting sentiment sticker and some red diamantes. My inspiration for this card was 'Witch Doctor' by The Cartoons.
Susan

My song for this one is "I promised you a Rose Garden". I used Ike's Art Rose corner, coloured with Spectrun Noir pencils. The background and sentiment were created digitally.

Di

Using a digi chosen from our second sponsor Delicious Doodles I have made a twist and pop card. I love doing this shape card. As soon as I saw the lovely Iris image on the Delicious Doodles site I was immediately reminded of many a day playing in my Auntie's garden when I was small. Only a small garden, but she always had lots of Iris plants underneath her lounge window. I loved them and have Iris in my garden now because of that memory. Hope you like the card.

May Challenge - Going For A Quirky Song.

Hello everyone! This is my (Diane) first opportunity to set the theme of the challenge since rejoining the team, so I thought I would try to go for something to make you think and perhaps bring back some good memories. I decided on the theme of "Going For A Song". UK readers will remember, a long time ago I must admit, a TV show called this all about antiques. Well your memorable song doesn't have to be old, just something that means something to you.....and because we are just plain nosey we want to hear some of the story behind your choices. Show us your makes that are inspired by your favourite song.

We have, as usual, got some great sponsors for this challenge. First sponsor is Ike's Art.

http://www.ikesart.com/#!__digital-art-stamps

Second to sponsor us this time around is Delicious Doodles.

https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/NewDeliciousDoodles

Ike's Art is offering a $10 voucher as a prize for this months challenge and Delicious Doodles is also offering some digital images from her Etsy Store. These prizes will be awarded to the best entries of the challenge, as judged by the Design Team Members.

If you fancy joining the Design Team, we are always on the look out for new talent. If you are interested please contact Cazzy using the email link in the sidebar. She will want to see what you have created in the past, so include a link to your blog or some photos of your work.

Here is what the team have created for this challenge:-

Jane

The image I have used is Windmill, to represent the song "Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam". There are mice in the song too, but the only mouse images I have aren't really right to use with this, so let's just imagine that all the mice are safely tucked up in their beds  inside the windmill.

I wanted to make this using more of a Delft blue, but I couldn't blend the colours properly with my blue inkpad, so I chose this pretty teal instead so that I could use Broken China DI, which I smooshed onto an acrylic block then used to paint the image, adding water a little at a time to get lighter and lighter shades.

The corners I have used are some very old white peel offs that are replicas of old Dutch tiles.

Tinz

Inspired by a song from 1957 called Blossoms Blues.
I coloured the flowers with promarkers and then fussy cut around them. They are Blossom from IkesArt. I layered them onto a die-cut and an embossed background and then onto a green metallic card base. I added a blue flower with a sparkly embelishment in the centre to balance the design once the sentiments had been added.

Susan

I'm showing my age here!! The song is "Flowers in the Rain" by The Move (1968). I used delicious Doodles " Floral Elegance" coloured with Chameleon pens and fussy cut. The background is a piece of blue card sponged with some blue inks and the stamped with a "Raindrops" stamp from designs by Ryn. And just to make sure there was no mistake about the song I added it across the bottom.

Me (Diane)

My first record choice was easy for me, it has been one of my favourites for years. When I was expecting my first child Simply Red released a song called "For Your Babies". When my daughter was born, just after the song was released, I used to sing her to sleep with this......I am surprised she turned out so normal come to think of it!
Looking through the designer's websites to choose an image to work with, this lovely image from Ike's Art leapt out at me and reminded me of that song. Hope you like it.
